It's time to start anew.

To facilitate the continuation of the discussion about TVB dramas, take at look at the last 5 posts in the previous thread (Part II (http://jay-chou.net/forums/showthread.php?t=25815)) to see where we left off:



Whoaa, it seems like this thread has died down now that MR is finished :P

But anyways! I'm still watching Last One Standing and I'm a bit hooked.
I tried watching The Four, but Idk. The first episode didn't really hook me in :p



i started watching The Four...and it's sooooo addictive...

Sammul is hilarious in the first couple of episodes
Ray is...OMG :drool:

but OMG...Kate is..grlgvnlrhvierbvkerbv :chair:
i just got up to epi 14 and like :chair:

at first i was like awwwwww...ray and kate are so cute...
and then she kissed him :dry:
and then..:chair:

i hate her like mad now. :dry:



^ Ooooooooh, you make me so wanna watch that show now. Anyway, I've just finished [Moonlight Resonance]. I still don't think it was as a good as [Heart of Greed].
The baddies are not very convincing as baddies. Hong-yee was not very convincing as a bad person as the Sai-Kai.
And also, as for the plot, I don't like the fact that there is no true focus. Too spread out amongst the cast. But I really loved the story between Ah Hou and Ah Chau. And I am so happy that they ended together. Coz the story between Ah Chau and Dr. Ling was getting way too draggy for my liking. I feel disappointed that Ah-Ka was not given much focus in this drama but probably also becoz he was given way too much attention as Tak Tak Dei. So it has to be so. Yeah, I thought the part where they got the 2 police officers from [Forensic Heroes] in the end was really hilarious.



AHHA well, along with the thread kinda dying off due to MR, my interest in MR died off cos of a busy week (that occurred a couple of weeks ago) and i only hadl ike 6 eps or so to go...and now i really cbf to watch it. but then its such a waste that i spent aaaaaaaaaaalll that time watching the previous 30-something eps...
ill get there soon. rofl.
also having half an eye watching that one with kevin cheng...cant remember it's name.



This is a little off the dramas but more on the actors themselves. So who is Raymond Lam seeing now??? And is Bosco still with Myolie?

cacky...Raymond Lam is seeing me :love:...LOL...but..yeah i dont think he's seeing anyone. (because i strongly think Linda and Ray are NOT together.) as for Myolie and Bosco..if they are together..i feel sorry for Myolie...

oh..wee~~~ i can't wait till the next episode of The Four...but the thing is, TVB seems to have cut out alot of things, because there's a lot of discussion about how the VCD/DVD versions are different.

Anyway, jay_ed, why would you pity Myolie if she's seeing Bosco? Does he have some bad rumours??? Awwwwww, Ray isn't seeing anyone? But he's so charming. Even more so after [Moonlight Resonance]. :love:

^ Yeah he does. It was never reported or anything but i know that he does :laughing: because he came over to NZ for a beauty pagent thinge, afterwards he went to a bar and all the girls in the bar shouted him drinks (the bartender was like WTF?! LOL)...and then..he went drinking with my friends, and brought a girl he picked up at the bar...

then after awhile they (Bosco and the girl) left to go back to his room.

The Four... is soo good, i love Ron (liang huit) in it, and raymond how good is he...? he is so good, im loving the four bo see more and more each ep.... i was just starting to like kate after MR but then she goes and does this...ayeyah...x
yes i have noticed that the episodes aret quite the same like the other day i downloaded episode 11 of the HD TVB version then episode 12 of Astro on demand version and they didnt meet... the episodes are slower on Astro for some reason??i duno so now i just stick with the HDTVB versions...x

Kevin Chuengs film Last on Standing is also really exciting... i feel so sorry for him and mah mah...:( and I hate Tong Lap Yin:@!!!!!!!!!!

^ well, on Astro on Demand they play the full version of The Four, while TVB cut some parts out, so that's why Astro is a bit 'behind' i guess.

like for the TVB version, they missed out one whole 'crime' in episode 8/9. Which was wierd in the TVB version, since they went to the Rock Village, and Sammul and Ron suddenly just kept saying at the village and didn't go to the place where the crime was taking place...

I am like not watching any TVB Drama at the moment, but I guess I will get started on Last One Standing when I have the time. But now I'm like more hyped about The Gem of Life! GAWD IT'S FINALLY GONNA AIR AFTER TENMILLION YEARS! :excited:

^ rofl..it's true, and not rumours because i was told by the people that were in the room - like the person who invited bosco along..so it's true...since everyone that went and was present said the same thing.

anyways...OMG..i just realised this yesterday..when i saw The Gem of Life poster...

Linda & Bosco are in it :sweat:...and they are a couple in it...

I finished Last One Standing two days ago and it's pretty good. I actually didn't like the ending though. For once, I wish that this TVB drama ended happily ever after. Haha. I didn't like how he was still evil at the end and was plotting to come out of jail and take revenge -.-

I just finished the first two episodes of The Gem of Life and omo, it's good! :thumbsup: I can't wait for the other episodes. Does anyone know how many episodes total there are?

ahha i was waiting for the megaproduction of the year! i really had no idea that it'd be The Gem of Life because you guys(girls) had all mentioned it like MONTHS beforehand!

first ep didnt pull me in really. shoudl i be disappointed?

i think 'rocky' as he is known, that really buff guy who was a Mr. HK contestant...really sucks. frankly. admittedly his speaking has improved, but his acting still is crap. why do they keep getting him in roles anyway? i think he may be destined to be a crappy supporting character...haha

ok i know this is a waste but i think im giving up on gem of life....for now. i might join in halfway haha but i might be too bored....thers WAY too many eps.

on the other hand im enjoying 東山飄雨西關晴 , a new tvb drama,. anyone else heard of/watching it?

it's set in the time like...umm..when there was a lot of british influence on china, like all the guys started wearing suits and stuff. so it's not period, it's like post-period drama. it's not bad , ive watched the first 3 eps.

Was checking out dramawiki and yay!!! Seems like [The Academy] series is gonna have a Part 3! Called [E.N.I.].

Still the usual Ron Ng and Sammul Chan. And seems like Michael Miu is gonna be back again! And I simply can't wait for [Burning Flame III] with Kevin Cheng!!!

^ No idea when it's airing. But tomorrow is the anniversary awards! I think Raymond Lam is so gonna get his award this year for his character in [Moonlight Resonance].

There's gonna be quite a number of good dramas out next year and Julian Cheung is making a comeback!!! Yay!!!!!!!

to be honest, i would be really disappointed if Raymond Lam wins the award (yea..i know..i'm like his SUPER BIG HUGE fan)...but in terms of his role in MR...his acting wasn't really as good as Har Yu (Joe Bao)...so i want Har Yu to win instead...

but..then..it's probably going to be Ray anyways..and then..SOOOO many people will be yelling at TVB for giving the award to Ray...:sweat:

i'm really annoyed that Suzanna Kwan (ie. Sa Yee) didn't get an award though, in my opinion, she should have gotten it instead of Michelle Yim, i mean..she had WAY more scenes in MR than Michelle Yim, and she's deserved it since HOG...

and...Har Yu totally deserved the award...and Ray got 2 awards :happy:

^ Yeah ... but I felt that the 2 awards given to Ray was quite patronizing towards him and his fans. Sorry to say that. Just coz' they probably had to give the Best Actor award to Har Yu. I wonder if this one could be planned too.

^ i duno aye, the TVB.com award was a bit like :sweat:..i mean..last year it was the "Most Favourite Artist in China" or something like that...and that award totally disappeared this year :sweat:

the other one was the "Most Favourite Male Character in a Drama"...so it was somewhat ok...

i can't believe Sar Yee didn't even get into the Top 5 for the Most Favourite Female Actress

after watching the whole ceremony..i'm really sad that Fala didn't get an award...i really think she deserved an award this time...

and Tavia's dress..the back of it was like OMG :shock:

Eastern Showers.... etc is your typical ancient series, with a powerful family.

Anyone see the anniversary? Almost cringeworthy that lol. But the 3 comedians doing their sketch, and then the actors having 'fake' hands were the only good bits of that show!!

^ I agree with you. The anniversary show wasn't worth watching actually. And I think they deliberately placed Kevin and Charmaine together for the singing portion. I mean there were so many other couples, why did they have to pick them two??? Poor poor Nikki.

the fact that Ray sung Huo Yuan Jia was like :sweat:...and the falsetto part was so Jay's voice and not Ray's singing voice LOL

Linda's dance was an non-existent dance, she just randomly swayed her hips and stuff....

Gem of Life...i like Linda's acting?...i mean..Linda is much more better as a bitchy character than one like Seung Joi Sum/Yu So Chau...i mean..at least she doesnt have to cry all the time :happy:

yh i agree.. actually i don't even think that the hands thing was even that gd.. the yrs before when EVERYONE joined in was much more funny and entertaining and when there were more scenes.. the 3 comedians were funny.. HILARIOUS! and how could you forget what they did last yr with the whole 'Rain' thing (the Korean singer).. i liked the dancing too when they were in the rain, etc but what was Lisa Wang doing?! she cannot dance hip hop to save her life.. it looked like she had forgotten her steps through half the song! Let's just hope that next yr's one would be better and worth watching..

yeah I agree! Fala was awesome in Moonlight Resonance!! Her role as Ah Hing was really, really good and really touching, though after she got married she didn't really do that much and when she was at the house it did seem a bit random.

Before watching Moonlight Resonance I was watching a Journey Called Life and Catch Me Now, and in both those series Fala was an annoying character (semi-annoying in Catch Me Now :D). I thought I was gonna dislike her too in Moonlight~ but she touched me so much in Moonlight that I think she really deserved supporting actress or favourite female character. But either way I'm still happy that Tavia and Lee Si Kei got those awards, respectively. :happy:

This years anniversary show was very cringe-worthy. Lets hope next year will be better!! :whistle:

I don't really get how the awards were conducted... like it was so obvious that HOG was the heavy favorite...they could have made it a little more fair. Like what's up with three of four nominees for best male actor being from HOG? Also, the best actress, and supporting actors/actress categories too.

i felt a bit gutted for fala because she learnt all that sign language and she didn't even get an award!! and yh the awards were really biased because most of them were to the actors in Moonlight Resonance when actors in other films deserved them too..

^ TBH though, Fala got such a small role so she didn't really deserve the award on that reason alone. But I do agree, TVB were so biased towards MR, especially when it JUST finished broadcasting so people are still in the heat of MR!

Anyway, anyone see Easterly Showers etcetc (long name) with Char and Joe? That just finished. I actually liked the end, but not how all the family members just died off on a slippery downward slope...

that Easterly Showers thinge (i agree with the long name with the long words)..my mum watches it..so i watched some of it...

i don't like how Joe turned all evil and stuff at the end..(unless there was some plot twist or something)

but honestly that drama is so like..old-fashioned..the whole thing where Joe is the son of the family, but because they were not married and stuff so they had to keep quiet about it was like :sweat:...she (Liza Wang) should have told the husband anyways...

I am just started on [Last One Standing]. I find it shocking that they trivialize certain scenes like how Ah Yan's house was set on fire but he didn't seem scared or angry enough, merely hired some bodyguards to watch over his family. Or how Ah Yip (Kevin's brother-in-law) should be really fearful of Kevin since he just got released from prison.

Maybe it's the actors expressions that are not good enough. And I don't really see the chemistry between Kevin and his sister. They should've picked someone else like Fala Chen or Bernice.

^ well i guess you always have to give people chances..i mean the girl that play Kevin's sister has been in the industry for a long time...and she's always played characters that are not that memorable...

if TVB always gives the people that are more well known chances, then the people that are less well know will never get a chance to get a better role and develop their skills, and in the end, we will always get the same people acting in every single drama

^ While I agree with you, but this gal just doesn't seem to make the cut for this role. Natalie Tong would probably have seemed more convincing as his sister. Everytime I saw this current gal touch Kevin, it felt more like it was a flirting thing than her showing concern as his sister. :lol:

^ yh lol.. i didnt really watch the first few episodes of this film (which i regret!) so i didn't know she was his sister.. i thought she was his girlfriend or something..

yep.. agree that she has been in the industry for a long time but shes not a very good actress anyway.. =P there are those actors and actresses who have been in TVB for a long long time and haven't had a main role before whereas people like Kate Tsui won Miss Hong Kong in 2004 and Linda Chung who won Miss Chinese International in 2004 and is already getting bigger parts than those who have been in the industry for like ten years!

.. moving on, i liked the man who played kevin cheng's sister's husband in [Last One Standing].. he was stupid but funny at the same time.. made me laugh..

at the moment.. i'm watching [The Four] which is probably already finished broadcasting in Hong Kong but it's such a good film, so interesting and i like the way they put the four tvb newcomers who joined at the same time together in this film.. sammul chan makes me laugh.. i like the cases that they have to solve too.. but some of the endings of them are a bit lame..

also broadcasting at the moment is [The Gem of Life].. not really enjoying this film much.. haven't really watched many episodes of it.. there doesn't seem to be a plot going on and there's nothing exciting that makes me want to watch it.. or maybe there is but i'm just too lazy to pay attention to it..

^ Yah, I agree with you that Kevin's brother-in-law, Ah Yip was quite funny. He's been acting for a long time too, but just no lead roles for him. He's a pretty good actor though.

I've just finished the whole drama. I would say this is really a good drama. Really enjoyed it.

Been a while since I thoroughly enjoyed a HK drama. The plot's pretty good and with brilliant actors like Roger Kwok and Kevin Cheng. Initially thought it was some cop and thief drama, but it wasn't.

Would introduce to those who haven't caught it yet. Gonna be moving on to [The Four].

Did anyone watch the JSL Jade Music Awards? (or whatever it's called in english), it's the one where all the singers are sitting on the stage and they were all wearing black, white and pink.

^ yh.. lol.. whatever Ah Sa was wearing did not fit the shocking pink theme and Emme Wong's outift was DISGRACEFUL!!

Anyway, the bit that I wanted to write in the above post was that it must have been embarassing for Jade Kwan when she went to get the award when it wasn't even for her, it was for Susanna Kwan. She must have not paid attention or got so nervous that as soon as she heard someone say 'Kwan', get up and get the award! LOL! But good on her afterwards when she actually got a more recognisable award.. one of the 金曲獎s (roughly translated as Golden Melody Awards or 'jin qu jiang').. but then again, she has been in the Chinese Music Industry for like 8 years and Raymond Lam, only being in it for 2 years, has already got a 金曲獎.. I suppose Raymond Lam started off with a huge fanbase because of his acting or maybe his songs are better..
