Hi, everyone, as much as i hate to break this to you, i have to say that we are currently experiencing a shortfall of funds due to the lack of support from the income generated by YesAsia. So now we wish to make use of this opportunity (just before Jay's new album pre-order =D) to gather attention so that all members, old and new, can join in to support Jay-chou.net.

During the forums' active times, we were able to generate enough money to pay off the monthly expenses. It was all good until recent months that we are forking out money from our pockets to pay them off. Here is a breakdown of costs for running the site to give everyone a clearer picture:

Breakdown

Expenses
Server cost: $124USD/month
Template cost: $30USD/year
Software upgrade cost: $100USD whenever applicable

Earnings
07/18/2008 - 09/18/2008: $35.77USD

From the breakdown above, we are paying about $100USD monthly ourselves just to keep the site going. Prior to that, we were contemplating a software upgrade for vBulletin but we have to put it hold for the time being, partially because of the cost. Regardless students or working classes, having to pay this amount of money is still considered hectic for many, (well, unless you are Jay himself.), so now we really hope that all members can help the site out. So please do scroll down further to see how.

Here is how you can help:

Method 1:

Donate through Paypal:
http://www.jay-chou.net/images/affiliatelinks/paypal.gif (https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_xclick&business=donations%40jay%2dchou%2enet&item_name=jay%2dchou%2enet%20website%20donation&no_shipping=1&cn=JCNET%20username%20%28if%20available%29&tax=0&currency_code=USD&bn=PP%2dDonationsBF&charset=UTF%2d8)

In order to do so, you need to sign up at PayPal (www.paypal.com) first and click on the button above which will bring you to the donation page.

All donations will go to: donations@jay-chou.net

All donors will be listed on our donations page (http://www.jay-chou.net/support.php) together with a breakdown of the amount spent as an indication of where the fund goes to. If you wish to be kept anonymous, do let us know too. =)

Method 2:

Order products through us at YesAsia:
http://www.jay-chou.net/images/affiliatelinks/yesasia.gif (http://track.webgains.com/click.html?wgcampaignid=32692&wgprogramid=1120&clickref=announce&wgtarget=http://www.yesasia.com)

This is another alternative to support the site. We earn a percentage of commission whenever someone makes use of the link to buy a product off YesAsia. These banners/links can also be found at the top of our forums main and the Jay multimedia section. I personally hope Jay's new album will be up for pre-order soon so that i can order it too. =P

edit by laruku:
You can get any of your friends who are already going to buy from YesAsia anyway, to add the below link BEFORE the yeasia http address..
http://track.webgains.com/click.html?wgcampaignid=32692&wgprogramid=1120&clickref=jcnethome&wgtarget=
This will ensure that JCNet gets some commission from purchases.

Alternatively, you can also find all these at our Home Page (http://www.jay-chou.net/forums/portal.php?#) too.

We really need the funds in order to keep things running smoothly as we aim to spread our love of Jay and his music around the world while making this site a wonderful community to be a part of. Thank you very much in advance. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask in this thread or via PM. ^0^

We are also working on making it easier for individual members who have no paypal account (go sign up! it links to your bank account! no need for credit card!) to help in the donation drive.

Singaporeans will be able to pay via bank transfer soon. Please look out for further announcements!

Thats alot for maintaining jcnet, especially on godaddy.com. 124USD per month? im guessing the servers dedicated. but why not just create a template of your own? saves money.

but anyways... may i ask what hosting plan you're on?

^ Sorry dude, those personal hosting plans can't handle the volume of JCNet. it'll crash every 5 mins.

Just to make sure, can I just click on a link (yesasia) provided by JCNET and checkout my cart and JCNET will still get commission or do I have to click on a link provided by JCNET and then start putting items in my cart and then check so JCNET can get commission?

To be safe, i think you can first click on our link, then put items in your cart and check out. =)

Please ask your friends to buy from YesAsia using our links too. I've included the prefix link in the first post. =)

I have been wondering how much is it to keep this type of forum running. So, there is a common bank account which POSB users could send to? Hmm... I could get to know some moderators by their POSB accounts? Kidding.

I have confirmed with them that it doesn't matter how the items get into your shopping cart, whether you added them today, yesterday, a week ago. As long as you goto YesAsia using our link and checked out in that same session, it will be counted.

YA commission has always covered our costs during the busy Jay season, that is why we don't hold donation drives anymore (last one was 2-3? years ago). As long as he's releasing albums, movies, touring...JCNet is financially stable. It's just the other half of the year when Jay's resting that survival comes into question, and interest in him has waned in general. Add to that, we don't know if all the fans from last season will come back and buy his album using our site.

We rather get aid through YA commission, it doesn't cost you anything extra, and you 2 things out of it 1). whatever it is you're buying and 2). knowing you gave JCNet some cash. So if you can't donate thru paypal, or a bank account, don't worry about it. Just refer Jay fans to this site, or spread our commission links to those you know order from YA. That would be greatly appreciated.

Would like to chk if there are any update on donations via bank transfer? Thanks..:D

mmh... I was thinking of... maybe other members can link to those yesasia links in their blog/website... but I'm sure it won't affect the donation, right? people will have to click on those links in here?!

Even though I'm not allowed to donate anything... my parents are against spending money through the internet... I try to find some people who want to buy some stuff from yesasia ;)

EDIT
just re-read the other thread... and I'll add those links to my blog now!

Thank you so much, Jen, that's a good suggestion! And thanks for putting them up on your blog too. =)

cs_omigosh, we appreciate the thought, but we would want to see if we can cover the site's expenses just from the YesAsia's commission alone first, that way, it will benefit both the site and the members buying through us. Money don't come easily to many of us so we really hope to cut down members' donation to the minimum or totally prevent it from happening altogether whenever possible.

So for now, we will put the cash donation portion on hold. I am really thankful to everyone who enquired, it shows that many of us still care about this forum. =)

And Michelle, that's quite a number of items you have bought, thanks for supporting us! =)

.....so....when I buy something from YesAsia using the link, jay-chou.net gets money? O_O That is pretty cool.

Since Christmas is coming up, I thought I might buy some stuff from the site...And since jay-chou.net benefits too, everyone is happy. =D (Ahaha)

Can you see what products those who have clicked on your yesasia links have bought? I'm curious whether my "clicks" went through.
