High School Musical is so overrated!

Yes, I'm talking about the "highly anticipated Disney Channel production" High School Musical 1 and 2 ..

Disney is playing the same old film every month .. for like 4 - 5 times!
And they so called made it in different version

High school musical
High school musical - sing along ..
( where they play the whole movie with lyrics for you to sing along )
High school musical - dance along
( where they play the whole movie and between breaks, the star teach you how to dance like them )

to me, these three does not make any difference ..

of course, this show appeals to young adults and teenagers but it's being so widely overrated , it loses the magic of the show itself ..

i cannot count the times i switched on the tv and turn to disney just to stumble upon HSM ..

i have seen the basketball dribble
i have seen the cafeteria dance
troy playing with golf sticks in the open field singing
sharpay's bimbo-ness

and they have concerts .. selling dvd .. and magazines !!

one magazine which is thinner than 1 cm is sold for RM 10 !! with no content except repeating what is already known to any HSM lover and some posters!

and it's a monthly magazine ..

not only magazines , now they are printing the face of the stars on stationaries as well such as cd holder, file holder, pencil case ..

is there no end to this overrated and exaggerated stale boring show?

HAHAHA I watched High School Musical no.1 on TV last year? i think.

The worst "movie" I've ever seen. It may appeal to children ages 5-10 who like to sing and dance along, but heaps of teenagers- even in my class loved the show - "OMG have you seen HSM2?" "no" "aww... have YOU seen HSM2?"

...

maybe i just hate that kind of movies generally (musicals: dancing in the middle of the street type). If I had the DVD, I always fastforward the singing part.

Thank you for opening this thread! I have never liked High School Musical.

I don't see why little children or some older ones love to gawk over HSM! It is like, what so good about this movie? It is dumb, it displays stupidity, the show doesn't make sense at all! And yeah, it is really irritating when Disney Channel keeps replaying it over and over again. I have kinda remembered almost all the scenes in that show since my brother loves watching Disney Channel, and whenever he switches to Disney Channel, usually, HSM commercials or the movie would appear, how dumb! And I don't see why HSM is like, the highly anticipated movie, when it is not at all highly anticipated, and never will it be. And I guess the songs are really childish. The lyrics pretty much make no sense too. I think the songs are pretty much like nursery rhymes, oh well~ I think the only song from HSM that appeals me is the song 'Bet On It'. Well, it's quite nice to listen to, LOL.

HSM 3 and 4? I can't stand HSM 1 and 2 and they are currently producing HSM 3 and 4? Zomg, get a life! I hope it is too lousy to be broadcasted, ahahaha. LITTLE CHILDREN!!! STOP GAWKING OVER HSM!!! Oh, I can't stand how girls go goo goo ga ga over Zac Efron. *Pukes*

hahahahaha .. i find that zac efron look so gayish in the bet on it scene . .the way his hips sway when he was walking and what's with the golf stick that appear out of nowhere ..

it's basically the gabriella vs sharpay and in the end gabriella wins the guy and the whole show .. bla bla bla ..

to me, generally the movies are ok but disney keep replaying it .. it makes me wanna puke when i turn on the tv and i see the commercial! felt so cheated that i paid but i get repeats

Uggh, I hate musicals, so I've never actually watched any part of the movie. My brother, on the other hand, has seen both the original and the sequel. He's 9 years old. I think this kind of thing only appeals to really little kids. It's really freaky when I go to Wal-Mart and they have this whole section dedicated to High School Musical and Hannah Montana (she has to scare herself).

Nobody really sings in high school. Well, OK, we did sing "The Streak" and Weird Al's "The Saga Begins" in computer class, but that's just because we were bored. The point is, musicals are completely pointless to me. Bad singing, bad acting, bad dancing, no real plot--this is what I think of when I hear the word "musical," and the words "high school" just make me shudder. :oops: So, why does Disney keep pushing it? Because little kids have no taste, and they are the ones who watch this stuff! Disney knows how to make money, and if they don't have to come with anything new and original, that just saves them the time, money, and effort. There are a ton of little kids out there, and Disney will take advantage of that. They all think it's cool, while the rest of us want to vomit.

but i just cant believe they are going top have more sequels..it makes me want to shot the charcaters down with a shotgun..
honestly seeing vanessa ann hudgens part nude in the newspaper made me want to vomit..and seeing her play an innocent virgin on high school musical is just wrong...

Yes, it's true!! IT'S SO TRUE!! I'm going so sick of this now, where ever the bookstores i go, i'll get to see the people in HSM's faces. Just like what jazlyn87 said, each montly magazine cost about $4 to $5. In shopping mall, can even see that stationaries & accessories with the HSM lead actors and lead actresses faces printed on, such as caps, bags, pencils... OMG!!

ARGG... wont they get sick?! I mean can see that HSM is popular but this is going WAY~ too far.

i'm so sick of the songs .. i used to sing and like all the songs but after all this time, i just get so sick of it ..

I'm surprised so many teens have seen this movie. Always thought the target audience was 10-11 year olds, despite it being called "High School Musical".

Is there a demand for musicals nowadays? Everything seems to include a solo break, or a dance in it. Movies, tv shows, all include some singing that wastes time.

i too have never seen it (have i posted here before, cause what i just said sounds familiar *shrugs) BUT i think the broadwayish dancing thing looks interesting... i like indian movies, and indian movies have lots of dancing.. so maybe i can give MH a shot...

if it has good music and not so corny dances and really cool backgroud stuff like INDIAN MOVIES :excited: i might like it.

HSM & HSM2 when i watch first time i still find it okay as i like the character Ryan...but when i watch the second time i find it very bored...

it is pretty much typical of Disney to put a bunch of good-looking people together and make a movie out of them.. but to me, none of the cast look good.. and they have so-so voices..
i dont know why HSM is soo famous everywhere.. whats so good about it? i tried watching it but ended up stopping halfway..
i mean it has a pretty stupid story plot and everything..

I just realized that my brother has watched both HSM1 and 2, that wherever I go, I'm surrounded by merchandise for this stuff, and they even play these teeny bopper songs on Sirius now. No matter where I go, I can't escape "High School Musical"! The teen pop stuff is horrible! :oops: I suspect they only call it "teen pop" because teens sing it, not because any teenagers actually listen to it. It's more for the pre-teens. The actors' voices are so annoying, and the songs themselves are annoying! I think we are getting too many musical things on TV. Even the commercials these days have really bad opera singing. So, maybe there really are people who like it.

hahah... thanks, that made me smile. i must admit it is very true though. has anyone seen her latest video, sneakershoes or something like that. its sooo stupid. she has gotten too skinny after her movies. Is it just me or does she have a super long face?

aimed for 10-11 year olds... wtf. as far as i know, it is nothing like high school. who friggin sings and dances in a group from the classroom to the cafeteria about the start of summer, dancing to "I dont dance".

i think i would enjoy a more realistic high school musical. maybe. just add in a couple pregnant girls, real drama, real jocks, people in the back smoking weed, unqualified teachers, sex, and clicks

Well guess what?! HSM is getting more OVERRATED now, why?! It's because another sequel is coming in again, which is HSM '3'. Are they trying to compete with the SAW??

I'm going nuts soon, when or after part 3 is shown, coz there will be plenty of merchandises such as magazines, printed t- shirts etc, all over the places that i would usually go or visit. Seriously, where ever and whenever i go, i would always see those merchandises, they would always be in the same place, not sure is it that no one buys them or more stocks selling.

HSM 3 was out the other day here in England and apparently the pre-booked tickets were sold out in like 2 days or something..

well.. i've never seen 1 or 2 or 3.. so i can't really judge on how good this film is but by the sound of it, it is obviously a very welcomed film from its audience..
