I heard bout him when MTV Chinese is playing his Long Juan Feng all day long about 2 yr ago, also during chinese new yr season..... n i was wondering who is this guy who keep wearing a cap all day long... :rock: my friend then told me, "there, this guy keep wearing a cap when he sings", then i was thinking, "What kind of title is Long Juan Feng? Tornado?"..... then his curly hair really makes me laugh... after that, the 1st song that really caught me is "Dou Niu" MTV. coz it had Jacky wu n others in it, n the content of the lyrics started me to look for this "Zhou Jie Lun" on the net..... N now whenever i saw him smile v shyly looking at the ground whenever someone ask him awkward qns, always makes me smile too....

Hehe...my first impression of Jay? I started downloading songs from him when I saw how popular his music seemed to be...and I never really knew what he looked like. :oops: I fell in love with his music first, and I didn't know what he looked like until about two months after I started listening to his music. :D When I did see what he looked like on one of his album covers, I thought it was okay...inner beauty is more important, right? Hehe...:) I still listened to his music like a crazed fan, but I never took his looks to matter that much...but then I started working on a web site for him because I loved his music so much...and mainly because my cousin liked him a lot too. i'm not a fan of chinese music...so i never paid much attention when my friends talked bout some guy called 'jay chou'..

I first saw him in the 'Ke Ai Nu Ren' MV & I scoffed at him! Thinking to myself that a guy who looks like that won't ever make it... I also thought that he was trying to be all sexy in the black singlet but failed terribly... then there's Vivian Hsu in that MV which somehow added to the sleaze factor!
It was a period of horrible and mean slamming on my part~!
Then I began to like his songs after I heard 'Xing Qing' and 'Hei Se You Mo' but I still took pride in criticising his looks mercilessly (esp when my sis liked him already...)

Then I went with my sis to The One concert and the rest is history... I started scrutinizing his CD sleeves and realised that HEY! He looks GOOOOD! And check out those abs!

I was also pretty late in discovering Jay. I had always heard his songs in taxi cabs and KTV places in Taiwan, but his songs sounded stupid for the moment because in KTV, no one could sing them ^_^. So then I didn't pay much attention. My father always brought back a bunch of Chinese CDs when he went on trips, and some time last year I came across Jay's first album, like a year and a half after it came out! All those CDs had just been sitting in my room because at that time I had an obsession with Japanese music, not Chinese music (now it's reverse ^_^). So I pop it in my stereo, and I just love it. I first saw J's "Last Battle" MV on MTV Chinese - so past the cap and curly hair years. His music sound so different to all other in MTV Chinese. All other music sounds pale compare to his - it's rich in details and contains surprising mix. Once you understand the lyrics, you'll be surprised that J could turn it into singable song !

J is also an interesting person, mature but also childish, introvert but also fun. The more I know about him, the more respect I had for him ! :bow:

My friend converted me to Jay. She recommended Perfectionist and I thought the song was defected becuz of that weird warbling sound in the beginning of it. It was a very odd but interesting song. Then I saw the MV for it and I thought Jay looked so cool playing two pianos at once. My first encounter with Jay was when my bros asked me if this guy is cool/handsome. It was the cover of his first cd at yesasia. I didn't know who he was at that time. And I didn't pay too much attention about it. I responded "nah, he is only ok", but I thought the cd cover was kinda cool.

Then, my bro downloaded his two mvs (tornado and cute gal). We watched it together, saw tornado first and after cute gal. At that time we only know Vivian Hsu, because we saw her in a movie with Jordan & Ekin. However after finishing watching it. I thought the mv was cool. Because, usually chinese mvs are always boring with the singer standing there doing nothing but singinf the song. But, tornado was different. It has some wind in it and the house was burning and everything...totally cool like in a american mv.

After that I listen to tornado and cute gal constantly on mp3. Until, I decide to buy his cd. I live in Montreal, Canada, so it is difficult to go buy his cd. I have to go to chinatown and order it [Jay and Fantasy]. It took forever to come. But, when I have it, I listen to the cd everyday.

Jay is the first artist that I truly admire. Because to me, chinese singers are only "performer" and not a true artist. His look doesn't bother me, as I don't find me ugly from the start. But, the more I know and read [thanks everyone for the excellent translations], I felt head over heels over him :love:. I don't care what people think about him, to me Jay is the best.

How interesting it is that we all felt/feel the same way! All my frenz and family don't get why I like Jay so much cuz they say he's not even good-looking (considering I used to like Aaron Kwok and he, unarguably has a perfect face, although I've dumped him for Jay now...Hee, hee!). Before I liked Jay, i liked James Iha a lot from Smashing Pumpkins (For those who do not know, smashing pumpkins was an alternative band that broke up recently, and James Iha is the Japanese guitar player in that band) and James looks 80% like Iha with the small eyes !!!!!!!!!!!! So to me, Jay wasn't "good looking" but I love the mysterious, artistic, musical look.... so Jay is yummy in my standards :)

I first heard the name Zhou Jielun a couple years back when everyone was just harping on what a musical genius he is...I rememebr seeing a bit on MTV shots of him in his blue hooded sweater, covering half his face. I didn't pay much attention...*flipped the channel*...then I heard An Jing, that was when I broke up with my first love and man...it just hit home. but forgot to look out for the song's name and singer...didn't think about him after that. Then I saw Shuang Jie Gun...didn't manage to link him to the guy who sang An Jing. Thought this guy singing Shuang Jie Gun looked obnoxious. Thought he was just another rapper-singer with attitude problem. Then one day, was at my cousin's house...she told me to download this song, "An Jing". She swore I'd love it. And I did. Then I downloaded Kai Bu Liao Kou...and finally Shuang Jie Gun...Didn't like it at first, but it grew on me slowly. and was amazed even more. One day, I asked a friend to rap Shuang Jie Gun for me. He did it so well. And I just went out to get his Fantasy EP the next day. Kept watching those MTVs..and whoo. The rest is history. A few minutes of crash course on the internet on this singer, Zhou Jielun turned into hours of surfing...

Well, after I bought his CDs, I only listened to his songs (don't actually quite remember how he looked in the Zui Hou de Zhan Yi MV). But what I knew was... I would only listen to his songs, and won't be looking for his pics or watched his MVs since he's not some sort of a hunk. I even used to think he was one unattractive skinny guy with no muscles at all.
But my opinion changed when I saw the One in Concert VCD. When I saw Jay wearing the Ren Zhe costume, I think I could see how well-build his arms are. And he looks so cute in his concert VCD.
Then I started looking for his pics on the web. Found the pepsi commercial pics and thought he looks so HOT. And in the Panasonic Cellphone Comm, where he was topless, :excited: HE HAS A NICE BOD!!!! And I always found his small eyes to be VERY SEXY. :love:

Hm, the first time I ever heard of Jay was when my friend sent me a flash video of Simple Love. I thought the song was really sweet at the time and the flash animation was just adorable.

I bugged my friend about the person, but he was very vague about Jay. He just said "Oh, this Taiwanese guy named Jay sang the song".

Two years later, when Eight Dimensions came out, that same friend burned me all three Jay CDs, and I gave him a listen. I really liked his music, even though I'd never seen what he looked like.

A year ago, i heard Xing Qing coz of my friend. I liked it a lot but i didn't really bother to find out who sang it. :oops: And that was the only song from Jay that i have heard then. Recently like about 3-4mths back, Astro broadcasted Jade Solid Gold'01 and from there i saw Jay singing Xing Qing and other songs. So that's how i learn about Jay! The very first time I heard Jay was on some awards show and he was singing Tornado. It was really sweet and he was on the keyboard. I really liked the melody. After he finished, he ran onto a different stage and started singing nun-chucks! I thought it was a bit wierd cos I dont really like rap and faster songs. And it was a bit of a contrast! This thread inspired me to dig out the video of the awards which made me start to like Jay. Im not sure which radio station it was but the theme was Heroes and I think it was in 2001.

When he won an award, he was so sweet. The show was in cantonese and the presenter was saying all sorts about him from being multi-talented..to being 'churn tsing', literally 'long-relationship'. (I think, sorry, very bad at chinese..) All the fans were cheering and other singers, like Sammi and Gigi were all smiling at him and giggling. I dont think he had any idea what she had just said so he just went along with it nodding and then said thanks and just went on to sing Tornado!

And I didn't want to like him cause' so many people liked him, I wanted to like him because of his talents and his singing ability. I first heard of him two years ago. But it was this mysterious appeal that captured my attention for the rest of the day... and weeks to come.
