Wanna swap culture and make penpals ? ( penpals pairing up!!! first post!! )

hey, i was just thinking that maybe we jcnetters can swap cultures..
i mean ,we come from different countries all around the world ..

so why not we pack a little bit of our countries stuff, pack it up and send it to another jcnetter in another country while they do the same for you!

at the moment, i was thinking of maybe we should make a penpal kind of thing. those who submitted their names would be then randomly be paired up with each other
don't worry, we won't pair you up with someone from your own country :rolleyes:

purpose of this swapping thing :- to get to know people better, to learn more about others
so whatever it is that the pair of you want to do ie :- call, email, letter etc etc is up to you!

call - oh well this is up to you .. if you willing to call your pen pal from another country

email - maybe you can talk about the things in your country, attach photos etc etc

letter - by snail mail, you can send hand written letters and packages if you like.. things about your country ie :- key chain, postcards, photos etc etc

phone number, email and address of your pen pal should be asked in private through PM .. i repeat in PRIVATE .. :D
or if you don't want just ONE pal, we can somehow mix and match .. :D

and best of all, there's no time limit.. you can take however long you want to send stuff to your pen pal.. it's up to you kids to discuss :wink2:

one condition though, whatever you send like letters or packages, emails and such, MUST have something of Jay .. because then it would be special .. we're from JCNET .. that's the common bond we have between us right? so be it a small Jay sticker or a gif banner .. or for emails ... just sign it off with "diao bu diao?" or " jie lun fanatic going off"

anything to signify Jay ..

or we can do like this, we have to list at least 2 members from each country, and we need to give a report/paper about our culture at least once a month.

the report must include :
- pictures
- official link (or at least trust-able information)
- a small paragraph writing about the culture (i prefer a enjoyable reading stuff)
(we may also make it as an collage if possible)

hehe .. great .. no , i don't really mean cultural stuff .. i mean more like .. stuff from your country .. send a box consisting of maybe keychain, postcards, dry food, photos, stuff about your country .. to the other person and the other person send stuff like that too to you ..!!

of course you will have to get to know the person who you are swapping with .. i mean like..

person A writes to person B stating that he/she :-
- likes brown color
- loves jewelry
- don't eat junk food
- prefers the ocean than land
etc etc

then person B will send stuff like maybe a brown keychain, a small friendship ring, some mint and postcards of his/her beautiful island .. etc etc ..

^ Jazlyn, most of local magazine here is from web. It's so late. I have read the news here, but I see it in magazine 3 weeks later.. or even more. >< That's not a thing we should mail to our penpal. it could be a bonus, but not the main thing. :D

I prefer something is unique. which not everyone know.. :D
even it's just a writing about an unique daily-culture. (e.g : We can give a photo of a car that widely used by local citizen and give some comment/information about it)

we can also share with our penpals the festivals we have in our countries, like this coming cny... cause in some countries it is not mainly celebrated, so some people might not be familiar with it.. :happy:
