I thought this movie was terrific! I thought Jay did a terrific job on his directing debut, and even though he was to act himself, he did a pretty good job of acting his cool self. The story, the feel, the color, the cinematography, the special effects were awesome. I've been addicted to the movie, the soundtrack and especially the piano scenes/music ever since I saw the movie. Now you can't make me stop listening to it! :)

You know alot of ppl say the ending was quite unbelievable because Jay lose his father?

After some thinking, I came up with this:

Jay actually did not lose his father... and this is because of his ability to "crush" the curse of the Secret but only on himself as only he is talented enough to play a faster and EXTENDED version of Secret (You can hear this on the OST =)) which allowed him to travel way back even before Xiao Yu found the Secret scores. (So Xiao Yu did not know him in the end) The fact that the curse is "crushed" by Jay was firstly that he was able to go BACK in time... which wasn't the actual use of Secret as it was only to go to the FUTURE and then go back to the current time.

So first Jay's talent allowed him to go BACK in time... which was subtle and i believe Jay did this subtlety because he wants his viewers to think.

And so being able to go back in time which... was not supposed to be... the "At First Sight Marks One's Destiny" curse did not apply to Jay because the fact that he turned the whole darn thing upside down due to his talent.

Being in a place MORE than 20 years behind, he can play the piano again to go back to the "current time" where the piano was not destroyed yet. There, he might be able to stop the construction vehicles from destroying it... then keep it for himself whatsoevernot. Being able to go back, he can meet his father! (all he has to do now most prolly is to redo the things that the Jay-who-did-not-time-travel did to equalize the future)

Then he has the whole piano to himself! can go back and fourth, back and fourth... meet his dad, meet xiao yu and guess whats the best part?

He can undo the accidental kissing scene with Sky! With that, Xiao Yu (who most likely STILL can only be seen by Jay or the first person who sees her) will be happy and won't get an asthma attack that kills her. and THAT Xiao Yu can also go back to the past! 2 person can now time travel. And how do we know she became happy? The Class Photograph! Remember she was SUPPOSED to die on graduation day? THat picture shows her smiling WITH the class and Jay (her hero) standing beside her ON the graduation photo! GRADUATION! so she made it alive. (thanks to Jay's undoing)

And Jay on the picture? well, where do u think he's talent might be from? I have a feeling because he actually graduated TWICE from the same school. YES, the very same Jay. He's present goes back to the past, attends the same school OVER again with Xiao Yu, and goes back and sits with his own "current" school (remember he hasn't graduated since he travelled way beyond 20 years?) therefore his "past" learning experience is brought forward into the "present" making him double talented.

and then u see the connection?
what made him ABLE to "crush" the Secret curse at first?
His TALENT! that no one else has! because no one graduates TWICE like him! ta daa! a circular motion stuff.

goes back to the past with a talent brought from the past that will happen in the future.XD
saves Xiao Yu by undoing the accidental kiss, stays with her in the past and grow with her as of the same age (because thats the only way as THE FACT IS SHE IS FROM THE PAST), returns to the present with the same "ageing"age (1 day older in the past means 1 day older TOO in the present) and goes back whenever he wants.

But the basis of all this comes from one single sentence in the story we might have greatly overlooked... which made it possible for ALL of this to happen.

and that is the tagline of the show:
"I will find you no matter what."

this tagline brought Jay to his undaunted willing to find her, smash through the window, play a freaking-fast time whirling score, re-do the history and maybe even restart a relationship that was supposed to be very strong already.

Realise how come the Xiao Yu loves Jay so much even when she just met him? Because deep inside her... she knew he was the one (that actually saved her and lived with her but she doesn't know THIS yet because it was a past that is to happen in the future)

and THAT is what Jay Chou wanted to bring out:
sometimes you love someone... you just don't know where that feeling comes from right? you start to have funny ideas how this feeling actually came about... like, you believe there's something in your past that in engraved deep in you that he/she is the one... very unexplainable.

and THAT is the beauty that lies therein;
LOVE.

And LOVE knows no Boundaries: He has a girlfriend from the Past. And he will do all those "I will find you no matter what" shit just to let the LOVE live. Like we should too. At least, none of us has a girlfriend from the past.
Jay’s gonna say “issit THAT hard to maintain YOUR relationship when I can do something like this to mine?”

... this Jay is GOOD.

Just saw Secret with my sister. The movie was cute. I liked Jay's acting, that whole deal with the girl was o_O it was cute but then it wasn't. aish i don't want to say much without spoiling. anyway overall cute and the piano playing fantastic. I absolutely loved the movie, I've seen it like 3 times and I'm still not bored of it yet. He is soooo talented in playing the piano, god I can't even play a single song. Seeing him play like that makes me want to learn to play the piano. Gotta get some lessons. He improved his acting, got a chance to show off the piano skills he's been praticing since 5, and his directing has been good recently. I really enjoyed the film. My sister missed seeing Jay in the final photo and was totally aghast. I had to calm her down. So last week, I bought it and the first thing we did was skip to the end and give her proper closure. :) and then we went to the piano battle and got sucked back into the whole film. It was well done. Although I have a few questions about how his time travelling differs from hers.

The movie has some major plot holes and some so-so acting (partly due to most of cast not actually being professional actors), but Jay has improved a lot from say Initial D and also as a directorial debut, it's pretty good too.

I felt some of the sound editing (ironically, seeing as this movie is centred around music) was actually quite poor. A lot of scenes should of probably had longer, more gradual fades, but instead there seemed to be short abrupt cuts in the music which came across as somewhat amateurish.

Overall a decent movie despite it's flaws, fans of Jay's would definitely like this movie though :)

I loved the movie. I watched it like over 20 times already, since I got it, like 2 weeks ago.

I watched it like 5 times in one week. I was home visiting the folks for New years when I watched it like 3 times in one day, maybe because i was bored.

I just ordered another copy cause i usually buy 2 copies of everything.

One of my favorite scene would have to the the rooftop where they kiss. That was hot. I like how she lend in to tell him she liked him and how he responded with a kiss. How sweet can that be?

Another would have to be the piano playing, they did together. Making great music together, how good can things get. I really like how they were tapping on each other's backhand while the other two hands were playing the note. That was so cute. I started to blush. (it was hard trying to explain to my grandma, why i was blushing at 3am in the morning, while watching a movie).

The scene, that I thought Jay was the sexiest, yeah, sexiest, would have to be when he was playing the piano at the end of the movie. I mean he's dirty sexy playing the piano. I was like, i wanna clean him up, then again, he looks good dirty.

Another scene, that I thought really stood out was when they were walking along the lake, where they asked each other about their parents. I thought that was very meaningful. Jay poking her on the cheek and running off was way too sweet and cute. I was giggling to myself when i watched that part.

okay enough, i'm gonna go watch the movie again.

Ah, the piano music. I listened to the music a few times before I watched the movie. I had kind of an idea of the ups and downs of the plot...

But the movie completely blew me away. It was too amazing - and now, when I listen to the piano music, I still want to cry... It was much better than what you would expect from a singer who had crossed over to the movie industry! Of course, Jay is always amazing. :)

Secret is a nice movie with slow storyline in the beginning, followed with a bit of thrilling part in certain portion. Some people find it slow, but I think I enjoy watching it. There are lots of nice music through out the show. I hope you will like it too.

I love Secret! I actually own it, and probably will watch it over and over again. I think Secret is a little unrealistic, but the movie is really for those who like fantasy, it ruins the movie if you try to analyze it too much. just sit back and enjoy.

What amazes the most is how everyone is so talented in the movie. his piano skills are really out of this world. It makes me want to go and play my piano and practice more so i can one day be able to play some of his songs.

Yea, seriously. You can imagine how much time he spent on practicing.

Before this movie, my ex-gf thought Jay's like many other singers who are just there for show and could sing a few songs. After she saw the piano dueling part in "Secret", she was very impressed and convinced that Jay's one of the few on earth with insane musical talent.

Before this movie, my ex-gf thought Jay's like many other singers who are just there for show and could sing a few songs. After she saw the piano dueling part in "Secret", she was very impressed and convinced that Jay's one of the few on earth with insane musical talent.

That's already obvious from the number of tracks and albums he produces every year:D I'm also really impressed that he is able to do that year after year and never run out of new ideas for his music. All his songs are a great listen. That's what you call a brilliant song writer! Doesn't he ever run out of ideas? What wouldn't i give to take a peek into his head lol.

I was really impressed with his first time directing, I know he has had past experience from MVs but still this was a full on production. I loved the piano duet scene which has evolved to concert performances, esp the one at the Golden Melody Awards, I watch that over and over on youtube.

I thought the ending made the movie less enjoyable for me. I think it upsets me the most that he's stuck in the past and can't go back to the present? Hahahaha, I don't know why. And no one can see him in the past either except for one person, no?

i think it was really well done in terms of graphics and plot. The music was good and everything was done so that the viewer would understand the story without disclosing too much that it would becoe predictable and boring.

i haven't seen the film yet BUT my KOREAN student have seen it and HE'S VERY IMPRESSED on the piano battle scene and he also said the story itself is very touching.. he liked jay's acting on it..

he told me about the film a couple of days ago when he came to my house to play the piano for me.. he even played a piece from the film.. he told me that the piece he played was the music which jay and his leading actress played together.. i dunno the title since i haven't seen the film yet.. he told me it was played with four hands on the grand piano..

Good Job Jay! A very enchanting and beautiful movie! It made me laugh and cry. I thought it was a bit confusing with the time travel concept, but it was also very thought-provoking. I'm learning to play secret on the piano now.

Wow, I just watched it and didn't know what to expect but a simple high school love story. Then when the twist came I was like :shock: and got so scared 'cause you didn't know what to expect so I had to hug a pillow :D And then at the end I cried, so all in all, a great work of art.

This is one of my favourite movies ever! Jay has written such a wonderful, captivating story and I thought it was quite a unique storyline and really fresh compared to a lot of recent movies out there. I really liked his acting in it and you really got into how the characters were feeling. And yeah, he is one absolutely amazing piano player. He plays so beautifully and this movie really shows off his talents in acting, composing, piano playing, directing, and writing.

The first time you watch it is amazing as you have no idea what is going to happen but watching it again is amazing too because you can't wait for certain parts and you really enjoy seeing how everything came together to lead up to the climax at the end. Jay wrote this movie brilliantly and it's one of the few rare movies that I could watch over and over, but I find all Jay's stuff is like that... I can go for months without changing the cd in my car if it's a Jay Chou CD.

I would say that Secret is my favourite movie of all time; at the moment I am utterly obsessed by it! It surprised me by actually being able to put me on the verge of tears; I NEVER cry in movies, ever. I only discovered it because someone had put the piano battle scene on Youtube and I was so impressed by his piano skills that I had to see it.

I am now learning most, if not all of the soundtrack on piano (I'm saving Secret until last, since I consider it the best and most special piece of the film), and I really want the DVD - I've decided I'm going to ask for it for my birthday.
