I didn't make a mistake in the title. I can already feel how crappy the movie is gonna be.

I think we have no doubts about how short a time the movie production took since Jay was basically busy with COTGF, Secrets, On the run, World tour all jam packed into this year. This production probably tookless than 2 months. Not that time is everything, but good movies require each scene to have multiple takes, experimenting with different shooting angles/lighting, playing around with alternative takes on the storyline etc. End of the day it is loud and clear that this is one of the low end HK-factory movies.
The company is awfully smart to ensure this low end production can reap in the most profits at the box office by putting in Jay, and well arguably Charlene. They are just cashing in on Jay's popularity. Just look at the movie poster/promo pic:

http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/2078/0359186623ft8.jpg

It is so obvious that the promo people know what get's the fan's attention. Cute o' Jay holding a basket ball. Nothing else really matters. Not his other co-stars, not the most powerful scene in the movie.

If you haven't caught any of the trailers you can try this one (http://youtube.com/watch?v=h4GUiYYEOeo). It screams lousy plot, cliched storyline line... and basically a poorer sibling of Stephen Chow's international hit Kungfu Soccer.
I am totally disgusted at the movie. :rasp:

Yea . Actually I agree with you. The company is using Jay as a weapon for earning money. And what's with Jay with that haircut? And I havent seen the other people in posters. Whats with that? Lol . They might even come up something so stupid like : "Buy tickets to KFD and stand a chance to have dinner with Jay. The more tickets you buy , the higher your chances are!" And LOL. The sales might just go higher. I am going to watch the movie. Just to see how Jay is doing.

^ I thought Jay's movie was filmed/planned wayyyyy before Hot-Shot/Basketball Fire ?

But I agree that they like to use Jay's popularity to gain profit. And his haircut just makes me want to do the opposite of  T_T

^ What do you mean using the hair cut doing the opposite?? I dont get it lol.

Ok back to this 'anti', i'm starting to hate Jay's hair in this movie now. At first, i thought it's nice and 'cute', coz felt that itbe good looking of Jay changing hairstyle in the movie, but then, the more i look at the hair, the more i wanted to go into the movie and change the hairstyle for him. MAN, whose the hairstylist anyway?!

I agree what lattae had said, the trailer just sux, it's really reminds me of Stephen Chow's Kung Fu Soccer movie after watching the trailer, like Jay's shoes burst after stomping on the ground and what so ever...

^ lmao...she means his haircut is ugly.
rather than make her drool at him. makes her want to do the opposite.

even though i loved his movie "secret" i'm not too...excited about this one.
jay chou and charlene..just doesn't seem like a good combination.
and its just seems like they're using jay's popularity..-_-

i think the plot of this movie totally sucks....i mean, i thought the plot of Shao Lin soccer wasnt that good either, but Stephen Chow is really really good and can pull off a not-so-good plot and make it really good and funny....Jay, he doesnt have the ability (acting wise) to pull off such a plot that Stephen Chow can...

i think the company that made the movie is EMG...the movie department of EEG....their movies are usually really crap...LOL

and yes...this movie was planned WAY before Basketball Fire...so..i dont think it is a 'pull off' of Basketball Fire....but i think BBall Fire and Kung Fu Dunk are adaptations of the manga 'Slam Dunk', so there are bound to be similarities

I see .. Thanks for the info ! Cos I thought Basketball Fire was actually planned quite sometime ago.

Yes and this is an anti-Slam Dunk thread, not some one stop info-tainment centre. We're not here to discuss which came first and reaffirm each other on the accuracy of the info. Lets just focus on dissing the movie.

Anyway, so it IS one of those EEG production! I should have guessed with Charlene in as the female lead.

Part of my irk for it is the how they packaged everything as if this is so unique, and it's like the event of the year when really it is a non-event. Besides it's the Chinese New year season, lots of good movies will be out... come on, the only trump card they have here is Jay. And the biggest joke of it all is Jay refusing to admit that this is one of the stupid "sell-out" things that he does. He's been talking about it like it's the best production ever. LIAR!:rasp:

^ actually...most new year movies tend to be like pretty crap outlines....they just want to make everything funny and people will laugh and all....actually...what i'm trying to get at..is there are alot of crap HK movies....

*sigh*.....i'm hoping Kung Fu Dunk will be a better one of EMG's productions....since EMG are capable of production some quality...

Charlene is actually an ok actress, she is capable of playing some really 'heavy' roles (eg. The Diary) but people tend to cast her as the 'cutesy bubbly girl', so let's hope that wont happen...becuase, it would be a disaster...

I've seen good movies released on CNY, and the CNY is no excuse of a lousy movie. Lousy movies intending to make a quick buck shouldn't be tolerated, whether it's the CNY or whether it's HK production.

In my humble opinion, HK should just wake up from their self contentment, and start realising why the chinese movie industry is only capable of just a handful of good movies a year, thanks to them contributing crap.

And Charlene... she just needs to figure out what she wants as an actor instead of taking all up all the stupid roles EEG throws at her. Puppets can only go so far.

Erm, do you or do you not know what an "Anti" thread is or what the "Anti-X" forum is for? We are here to slam the person/book/movie... You are ruining the thread with your no-brainer post.

This is not any-o' discussion thread you know. If you have only positive things to say, and the general gist of your post is full of "hope" and support for the show and its actors then it doesn't belong here.

I do not have the patience of laruku, learn or don't even post here. I don't take shit.

i totally agree with you guys about the Stephen chow movie kung fu soccer, i think it's only going to be one similiar to that...and besides that i really don't like that one picture of him holding the ball that is use to promote the game, he looks like a lost child or something weird like that...

But yes, i think the company is just using jay chou to help them gain some money, cuz now jay chou is coming out wiht moives and he making lots of money.....Plus, i also heard that jay chou might get paired wiht charlene but i don't really know, but when i watch the trailer i don't see no love at all...

I know nothing about this upcoming movie, there's no adv in my country, blehh

But after I saw the movie's poster, I'm going OMGGGGG!!!!
This isn't Jay's movie! Why the hell it's a pic of Jay only???
It supposed to have other actor/actrees on it!

And f*ck the company if they're only using Jay's popularity to gain profit.

I think it's really awesome that they're using Jay Chou to make a movie on basketball because that's what he really enjoys..
But I really don't like the poster O_O

And the story line sounds a bit tacky O_O

When is the movie coming out? o.o

@Shadow_WhiteKnight:
Is your picture of Jay Chou by the wayy xD
It just keeps reminding me of him lol 8-)

Anybody saw the poster?
It has the tagline "gai shi ying xiong, guan lan qi cai" on it.
I guess they're referring that to Jay but doesn't Gai Shi Ying Xiong reminds you of Leehom? it's so pathetic and they should come out with a better tagline in the first place.

^ Er, no offense. But this is the anti-x thread for his movie. Yeah you should go read the guidelines before posting. ><

I didn't even bother to watch it. Just went directly to "Jumper"'s room. Everybody said the plot was dumb. And Jay's acting hasn't ever impressed me before.

OMG, can't believe that somebody actually feels da same way like me...

da movie was ok at the beginning. the martial arts really look cool and amazing, but, what really ticks me off is the unlogical story line. all of a sudden, during the game, because of a kungfu move, he can turn back the time? i mean, how ridiculous is that?

i personally dun think the movie should be name kungfu dunk. there are not much exposure on the martial arts. and about the basket ball-thing was just OK.. (I have seen better)

and, throughout the movie, it just seems that the director just want to manipulate jay's cool charm on the audience. there are not much acting skills seen, just couples of bad jokes....this might be appealing for younger audience, but, for me, i was really dissappointed. it seems to me that, the same idea has been used.(remember SECRET? jay also used turn-back-the time idea).

and the movie was ridiculously long. the ending should be when they won the game, but it was dragged on and on about a character who just appear at the end of the movie. it was really unnecessary..

so, in all, Jay could do better than this. he shown amazing acting in the curse of the golden flower, and i'm looking forward to that..he just need to stop doing the turn-back-the-time film...

Oh yes.
The movie totally makes NO SENSE at all to me, I'm serious.
I guess the only reason why this movie is okay is bcos it's pretty funny.
And of 'cuz bcos Jay is acting in it lah right?
Just so sudden, out of the blue, Jay became someone famous in the show.
Then he joined the basketball team? Etc? Makes no sense.
I'm so confused!
