How did you discover Jay Chou's music?

New member here... but I've been a Jay fan for a long time. :-)

I've also lurked around the site a lot, especially for the news and lyrics.

Here's a question for you guys: how did you discover Jay's music?

For me it was really random. I just bought the Common Jasmine Orange album on a whim, because I'd seen it recommended on some random person's blog. It was the first Asian album I'd ever bought.

As soon as I played it, I went :ohmy: and became a fan right there and then. To this day it remains one of my favourite albums ever.

Anyway, it's nice to finally be a member! Hope to chat with other fans in the future. :wave:

errrr... i first heard/saw some random jay MV while i was in china... i can't remember what song it was but the MV had a basketball thing... like jay playing basketball or something lol GAH i was nine at the time, i don't remember >.< but yea.. that how i FIRST discovered him. Then late last year i started listening to him again... :D

umm. my cousin's bro brought jay's november chopin album to my home.. every day he played it.. and.. some day it reached to fa ru xue and then.. i fall in love with jay right there!!!(i think i became jay true fans after that day)
until my friend give me dong feng po. i feel i'd have ever heard it somewhere and.. yesterday after i found my old fav album, i shocked because of that dong feng po was my old fav song(but that time i don't know who is jay chou)!! may be i'd already became jay's fans at that time..T_T

I start to become his fans when he released his 1st debut album Jay. He came to Malaysia as a judge for a local singing contest and he perform 2 songs live which is Hei Se You Mo and Long Juan Feng. Ever since after that, I start to buy his album. Until now I have all Jay Chou new album including concert DVD and his latest movie soundtrack Secret. I like all the instrumental music in his movie soundtrack.

actually i saw jay's music video here in the philippines in MYX (i think they were trying to experiment if chinese artists will get something here after the F4 fame...they just picked the wrong Jay song!!! :oops:)...which was In The Name of the Father(Yi Fu Zhi Ming), found it kinda cool then never saw jay again....it's hard for Filipinos to appreciate that song...they could have picked his ballads or what...

then one day early this year i was bored at home and started searching for F4 vids in youtube...then came dare for more....then i noticed a cute guy :rolleyes: haha...then (i had forgotten in the name of the father) wanted to know his songs...(I think Tui Hou just got released by that time) then i saw he sang in the name of the father!!! yeah...then i started praising jay waaaaaaaaaaa :angel:

i heard about him from a lot of tw girls and then i dissed the crap out of him saying who is this jay chou guy what a freak and then i listened to his song jie kou, which is the first song i heard and also became my favorite...i listened like 80 times and sang my heart out....and cried. thinking about girls. lol

i just came across a site one day that was playing a "Tornado" in the background. Then I started to listen to more and more of Jay Chou's songs and here I am today!

if i haven't forgot, it was at MTV Asia Awards soo many2 years ago where jay's song was included in a some-nomination, but before that i read somewhere about a new rising asian multi-talented singer, jay chou, about how successful his debut album was. Then some moments later after i listened to "Ren Zhe", damn! (diao i mean), i say this is it!!!! So my first jay album was fantasy. I remember i used to be the only one in my neighborhood who's listening to jay, then i started spreading the 'virus' to my friends and family. ahaha Long Live Jay!!!

my cousin first introduced me to "ke ai nu ren" and "xing qing" , both which totally caught my heart away! and from then on i started listening to the songs from the fantasy album....and i've been a loyal fan ever since =)

My cousin had played the Fantasy Album in her car and I immediately fell in love with the song "Dad, I'm back."

.....i saw a little bit of Initial D with Jay in it and never took interest in him or knew who he was until I heard his song "broken string" and right there i fell in love with his voice. I first know Jay after seeing him promoting ye hui mei in a tv program. at the end of the show they showed his "grandfather's tea" MV... at first actually i don't quite like him~ (oh the regret...) maybe coz "grandfather's tea" is not my cup of tea at that time. i thought the lyircs were a bit, er, weird :oops:

but i just recently fell in love with his songs... esp fa ru xue and kai bu liao kou. fa ru xue for its MV which is fantastic and kai bu liao kou because i can really relate to it.

Im still can remember vividly that the very first time i discovered and fall in love with Jay's song was when im in form 3... I happen to hear his song 菊花台 - Chrysanthemum Terrace~Jú Huā Tái and love the song. Ever since then I have been listening to more and more of his music. Love his new album Capricorn.:-)

i discovered Jay's music from Curse Of The Golden Flower. They mentioned on the "Behind The Scenes" thing that he sang, so I decided to look him up cause I'd never listened to anything other than English and Japanese music before. I love his music and he's my favorite singer now!

i discovered Jay through my dad.
my dad got sent the Qi Li Xiang video with the lyrics changed, he listened and watched it, and although the lyrics are changed, he really like the song and when he was in China, he found the album, and bought November Chopin and Fantasy as well (this was early 2007).
i first listened to Novembers Chopin in the car on the way to my friends house. i fell in love with his music from the first second i heard Ye Qu. ^^

i owe my dad a LOT for introducing me to Jay, cos my dad really like him as well. u dont get many parents who like the same music as u do ^^

I did not really discover his songs. He was a new singer when I was 13, and in Singapore, there's this radio station that likes to promote new singers. So they were playing his long juan feng and ke ai nu ren all day long. I am someone who gets irritated easily and playing those songs so frequently really piss me off! It was until his 2nd album, Fantasy, that I became a fan. :tongue:
