Australian Idol 5 - 2007

Alrighty, since no-one has started this yet, I thought it was high time someone (namely myself) did.

I can't believe how many of the top 24 I actually like this season! My faves are: Matt Corby, Lyall Adonis, Husny Thalib, Marty Simpson and Ben McKenzie. Hmm...somehow they're all boys.

I'm not really sure yet which of the girls I like but I know that I don't like Brianna - the girl with the wierd diagonal fringe and the mismatched clothes. The one with the breathy voice. Ugh. Reminds me of Lisa from the last season.

But of all the performances last night, I only really liked Carl's. The other guys were kinda mediocre. And Husny's was like :glug: very pussycat doll-esque. But he is sooo good-looking, very Johnny Depp-ish. He dances better than some girls I know though :D

The fifth season is here - Let's get to it people!

This year some how i just couldn't be bothered :( no idea why.

I really like Marty Simpson for some unknown reason. And Matt Corby. They're both soooo not my type but my God, Marty was so smexy last night in the black shirt.

woah you must like idol alot :) i used to like it HEAPS but i get kinda bored if shows get repeated again and again every year *cough* big brother *cough* but i guess idol is still ok, i like watching the auditions. but i only watch when i'm at friends house i have really bad reception where i live and so the only clear chanel i get is sbs! >.< so i almost never watch tv =] oh well more time for JCNet :D

I think Lana is absolutely adorable but oh my gawd, she shouldn't have been voted through.

Actually I haven't been paying much attention to the series so far and completely missed the first round... but I knew Matt Corby would get through. He's pretty and got great exposure in the auditions.

i think ive watched about 10 mins in total of this season of idol. not that ive watched more than 15mins of any season of idol...

im already near my limit! hahah

well i jus saw those quick flick throughs they have to get you to vote, id have to say, i like the style of the guys this time! and that lana, she is QUITE QUITE PRETTY but...i didnt hear her sing.

Kawaii Panda: I thought I would too (get bored of series that get aired over and over) but I've never gotten bored of Idol. Can't stand Big Brother though. Just encouraging people to show their stupid side.

Yeah, there's lot os hype about Matt being the next Dean Geyer. I never liked Dean though.

There's heaps of hype about Lana too. Many people aren't happy that she got in. I don't really remember her from auditions so I can't say. Her 'Big Girls Don't Cry' rendition was completely lacking. But true - many people know that song and I believe there are a lot of dumb people out there who'll vote based purely on the fact that they know a song and like it.

Where are you going if you won't be here to see it through?

i haven't been watching but yes have to agree, lana is really good looking, and she's around my age too~! hm.. :P

I watched a bit of it the other night of the top 12 singing cause I was waiting for something else to come on.

I only heard Ben sing his whole song, I actually quite like his voice but wasn't so sure about the song choice. I had to agree with Mark Holden on it but all the other judges were saying it was a great song choice -_-"

Oh and Mark singing a U2 song? WHY? WHY? WHY? I thought it was the worst performance when I was watching the review of the songs ><

I missed Ben and Mark's performances on Monday. I loved Matt Corby though, I have to say. And wow, this is so wrong, but he's pretty hot (I do realise he's 16 haha). Yeah he could be the next Dean Geyer in the pretty boy stakes but his sound is a bit diff, he's got a bit more soul whereas Dean was pop-rock, and he plays the PIANOOO! WOOT for xiaoli's weakness lol

Brianna kinda scares me =/ Something witch-like about her.. feel like she'll cast a spell on me or something

Lana is such a doll but her voice is so weak and bland!

Also I just find it strange seeing Jacob Butler on the show. Does anyone remember him from X Factor?

Come on people! Where are all the Idol fans? It seems like only Xiaoli and myself love Idol. But on the bright side, at least I have a friend to spazz with! YAY!

This is mean but I was sooo glad Holly got out. Is it just me or is this year really lacking in girl talent? The only girl I really like is Tarasai and that's cos she's got the voice - I don't think I really like her as a person. Comes off kinda strange.

Xiaoli: I CAN'T STAND Brianna. I was watching her face when the judges commented on her performance and I was like, Yes! Suck on that! She's just annoying.

Hehe...don't worry. I'm 23 and I'm in love with Matt Corby. He's different from Dean in that he's actually very talented. Dean could sorta sing but wasn't that great overall.

So does that mean you'll be here for the duration of Idol? AWESOME!

Cindy: Ooo...I like Ben too! He's sooo funny and adorkable. I didn't really like the song he sang but I think he did it well.

And Andrew Lana is from WA! I'm not sure which city...but maybe you can find out and then console her when she gets voted out soon (which she will undoubtedly) =p Get Chris to come over from Sydney and you both can go and see her LOL

i've actually taken care into watching it and i realyl like australian idol now...matt corby is like (drools) so cute and hot...thirs soemthing about him but his lips look too smooth..haah weird statement there...there was the finally 24 and there was this really good singeer..lyall something...i was quite disappointed when he didn't get through to final 12

Hey sorry for my absence of late!!

I just wanted to say that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MATT CORBY! He is worthy of all the praise he receives!! Mark said something along the lines of, "You're one of a handful of the most brilliant contestants we've ever had on this show"

And I agree. I was so mesmerised by that performance (Blower's Daughter).. wow! He emotes so well and I can't believe he didn't get a touchdown. I was just sitting there on my couch thinking, I would actually pay to see this.

I'm also surprised that Ben didn't get a touchdown, I really really enjoyed his performance and I think he's got an awesome voice, I love that husky tone to it.

Don't think Daniel was deserving of his.. don't get me wrong, he was good, but not better than Matt.. c'mon!!

Missed the first 2 performances.

I agree with you Xiaoli! Daniel so didn't deserve to get it. And I think the public agreed (hello, bottom 3!). I was just sitting there thinking, what the hell is going on here?! Sometimes I don't like how Mark's touchdown concept has become the be-all-end-all of performances.

I think I actually like Ben better than Matt now...wow...who knew? His performance of Hide and Seek was so good it sent the hairs on my arms and neck to stand straight up. And I like how he's a bit of a gangly dork. Like he doesn't seem to know what to do with his hands after his performance whilst talking to James/Andrew and how he's always sticking out his tongue.

I like Marty really I do but if he keeps going the way he's going, he's probs gonna be out soon. Sigh...

Is anyone else captivated by Matt's eyes when the camera goes up really close? OMG. They're really vivid in colour and he has lashes like a girl!

I think the final two will be a boy/boy combination. I can feel it!

Since Lana has left Aussie Idol, she came back to school

Lately, she's been coming to my uni's lib to study, haha, all my friends have spotted her and started taking photos with her.

it's quite weird, seeing someone on tv, haha, but everyone said she's really really nice and stuff :P i guess it's all good, haha

she's currently studying for her TEE :P (or HSC equivalent)

Ben & Matt are my top two. I just love the tone of Ben's voice!! I agree with Mark though, he could be better if his voice was more powerful.

I think Daniel is nice eye candy, but I find his performances getting more and more boring. And I think the public agrees.. bottom 3 two weeks in a row!!

Although I love Matt, I don't think his performance of Bitter Sweet Symphony was touchdown worthy... well it definitely wasn't as good as last week's perf of The Blower's Daughter.. I reckon Mark only gave him the touchdown because he regretted not giving him one last week!

Tarisai becomes a totally different person when she's performing as opposed to when she's just talking and being herself! The confidence just shines! I really think if she wants any chance of winning Idol, she needs to brush up on her media/communication skills.

I think Marty should be next to go..

There's serious speculation that the show is rigged and I think, maybe it's true. For almost every season I can remember, someone really talented gets voted out around this time.

I was so upset. He wasn't just my favourite, he was probably the most talented person on there.

Now I don't really have a fave left in the show. Which is completely foreign to me.

And now there's talk of Marcia Hines quitting Idol because of what happened over Mark and Dicko's comments to Ben on his performance.

This is really getting stupid. If anyone is to leave, it should be that moron in the corner, Holden.

SHA!! Omg!! In my 5 years of watching Idol, that was the WORST outcome I have ever seen. I've never been so disappointed because Matt and Ben were my FAVOURITES and like Dicko, I expected to see them at the Opera House. I wanted them as the final 2! Such a shame that he's exited the show so early.. should have made it into the Top 4 at least.

Seriously what the hell is Marty still doing there? He's been below par EVERY WEEK!!

And who was it that Mark said was "boring as batsh*t"? Carl? Because yes, I have no interest in that guy.

I am going to miss Ben =( Matt is the only contestant whose performances I will look forward to now.

Ben's voice is just so lovely.. if he comes out with material that is as good as some of his performances on the show, I'll be buying it.

I didn't like Matt's hair before (you know, the outrageously out of control bush hair he had going on) but it's tamed down and trimmed and cut nicely now so I don't mind it so much now.

You should try watching it Chris (one whole show I mean). Who knows, maybe you'll get hooked...or at least find some of them talented.

I wanted Matt and Ben to be at the Opera House too. But I'm getting a funny weird feeling in my stomach that tells me Matt's going to go this coming eviction. He's been in the bottom 3 for what, two weeks consecutively now? GAH.

If he gets voted out, I swear that I won't watch the rest of the show for this season. There's seriously no one else I like enough to watch it.

Tarisai had an attitude problem she needed fixing. However, she did have talent and I was expecting to see atleast in the the final 3.

Matt's ok, its just funny hearing the comments about him abt his clothes, hair and singing. I honestly thought it was going to be him and Ben as the final 2.

Natalie is ok when she sings ballads.. she freaks me out when she does the fast tracks. I loved the song she wrote when she auditioned.. it was beautiful.

Don't even get me started on Marty.

This always happens.
The one I like normally always gets into the final 2 - but they normally don't end up winning - the only exception being Guy Sebastian. He won. But neither Anthony, Emily, or Jess won.
But I guess it doesn't mean that just cos you've won that you'll be automatically famous. Many of the runner-ups are doing better than the actual winners. But still...
I really really really want Matt to win but I have this gut feeling that he's not gonna. It is always like that. And I so do NOT like Natalie. She's so...something...
Who wants to bet that the winner's song they'll release is really crap?

^LOL I watched who won, I haven't been following the show so it doesn't bother me who's our 'Idol'.

Isn't it best that Matt didn't win? He'll have a lot more time to write an album and make it GOOD! Whereas Natalie will be forced to record an album in a week. Which probably means it'll be poor quality. Plus there has always been more success with the runner ups of the competition like you said, look at Shannon Noll, he's bigger than all of them :-)

Natalie's debut single didn't make it to number one in the first week. She's the first winner that this has happened to. Every other Idol made it to the top of the charts in their first week.

I wonder if this is an indication that Idol isn't popular anymore. :hmm:

I think Idol stopped being super-popular a while ago. I think that it's only the loyal fans of Idol that watch it now, like myself =)

But I agree Cindy, I am glad that Matt didn't win in the end cos the song is crappy crap crap. Ick. I think he could do so much better than that.

Did you guys hear about Holden leaving Idol?

First it was reported that he was fired then it came out that he had retired and that while he enjoyed his time on Idol, it was correct to move on.

And apparently he's kept a diary during his time as a Judge and he's seriously thinking of printing it as a tell-all book. It's supposed to be quite scandalous.

God, could he be any more of a moron?

I'm not sad or surprised at all - the man is a complete idiot. I even like Kyle better than him.
