[GAME] Scavenger Hunt (Mentors' B-Day Bash)... winner: Aina~

The infraction clock strikes yellow, but you don't hear it. It's not until the flash of red, shocking red, that you twist and drop from the bunk. Leaping to your feet, you recognise familiar items scattered around the room: your trusty gadget, a couple of badges resting beside a pair of mickey mouse ears, a carton full of beer.

'Eww, whose beer are these?' you wonder. 'Nobody 'round these parts drink beer. I wonder if I should... "Oh bollocks, I'm late!" - picking up the carton, you make a dash for the door. You dodge past the mental sparring ring, skim through the reading room, and slice through SST Headquarters. By the time you reach the themeweeks sub-forum, the mentors' party is in full-swing. Well, almost... there are cakes, balloons and music in the air, but no one on the dancefloor.

A giant pumpkin waddles forward towards you.
'Where have you been?' ColaPoP muffles from beneath her costume, 'and why have you got beer? Don't you know the mentors only drink Meer?'.

Meer, mentors' beer. The secret catalyst that make mentors groove their booty the way the Gauls' secret potion gives superhuman strength. 'Really, isn't close enough good enough?'.

The pumpkin *attled, "It's a bit late to start the journey but my booty won't rattle without it. Take this clue, it will lead you to 'the man'. I don't have the time to explain the significance of 'the man', but you must find him & bring me his soul".

You stare at the freaky pumpkin. Thus begins your journey...

Game introduction
Follow the clues as they take you throughout the JCNet forums. Some clues are obvious, others need deciphering before use - each shall lead you to the next clue (in most cases, see the first post of the thread). There are 'tasked clues' that require interactive participation. Do what the clue tells you to do (i.e - make a post, PM XXX, etc) before moving on to the next thread. See diagram below:

Use google & make the most of the search function on this forum.

In this case, 'colon city' is obviously the key... google that, and see if you can work out where the next clue is hiding. (Beginners - If you're still stuck, look at the diagram posted in the 1st thread for the answer) :happy:

As for the story, I was just having fun writing up a crazy tale!~
Parts of it are just zany fun, but some bits actually tie-in with the plot of the game (which you'll discover as the journey unfolds)

Hi Aina...yeah the game is still going...well I found the "lip" thing...you need to ask yourself where would you ask something like that?? in which forum?? and then you need to look really hard cuz sometimes things aren't in front of you eyes and you need to scratch for it....O.o one other thing, the search bottom doesn't allow you to look a word with 3 syllables...try another way.

Ok, there is clearly some cheating going on here... you guys must really want to 'finish' this game. Granted I didn't actually say cheating is not allowed, but I did intend this to be played individually (see game rules). Having said that, I will not fix the 'loophole' in this game as that path only leads to confusion (plus you'll miss the fun journey I've designed for you).

So, here's what will happen...

1) This game continues on until someone finishes the game (but it will end before this themeweek over to tally points to find 'The Ultimate Party Player' read more here... (http://jay-chou.net/forums/showthread.php?p=780269#)

I can't say where in the journey you're at (this is why none of the clues were numbered, to discourage skipping of clues)... but use the stats above to work it out.

Actually... I think it's cos you're thinking about it too much. Don't think about 'the man' or 'the soul' because until the clue directs you to these, you're too far ahead of the game. So:

Look at the clue,
Look at the hints I gave above... and nothing else.

Another tip? go into invisible mode: I see a few people stalking each other's progress. HAHAHAHHA :D

Oh, yeah... that's what pet did too. When I said "google it" I meant google in general... I forgot JCN has it's own "google" search option. I thought you did really well, I remember you got to clue34 quite early in the game...

Pao The soul is hidden in a game link on JCN. Try the viridian room :wink2:

After looking at the answers.. I figured out that its not THAT hard XDD that's cas the answer is right beneath it.


I'm SO SO stupid xDD I used the search in the "the meaning of diao" box, and always doesn't work. Now I know the "search function" that's at the top bar, is more effective.

That game was tough, but fun! :D Thanks loads to Pei for running this game. I got runner up honors eh? Woot!~ That was pretty unexpected. But I didn't know I was close to finishing the game. Oh well, I had fun. I'm playing the Viridian Room right now. And I'm stuck. I got no idea how to capture the man's soul. :sweat:

I played it once when I was setting up the game, and once more last night & I had a hard time solving it even on my 2nd time. Anyways... use the JCN game thread for hints or ask here! :D

i got the clue 34 after pam mentioned that she submitted the answer for first time and may be i skipped few clues therefore faster :tongue:

lovely, i got one point. lol. half way through the game, i realized that i skipped a lot at the part that said "thanks for making us look like einstein, " so i thought it was at the computer tech geek thing, and i totally skipped..tons. until i reallized that i was wrong-when i searched on the threads that pei typed in with the words "scavenger hunt." XD
