I like animes but there are just too many out there that I find it hard to keep up. My all time fave is SAINT SEIYA.... after that comes my recent fave COWBOY BEBOP.....and then follows some others such as: Ruroini Kenshin, card captor sakura, Fushigi Yuugi....I guess thats it, I dont watch a lot of animes.....OH, X/1999 by clamp is pretty cool too, but I prefer the comics to the anime. Clamp is by far my favourite mangakas....they are simply brilliant......the only mangakas I know that can make blood look cool instead of disgusting.......their drawings are just gorgeous.....
I read HYD too.....its just too funny....and its so much better than the anime or Meteor Garden.....

I know what you mean. Im from indonesia too and I think its even longer than 1990....I ve been watching it for the longest time but kinda stop because they keep repeating some of the episodes. Besides, the Indonesian dubbing, over time, iritated me. It was okay when I was a kid, but now......naaahhhh

On another note, Two-Mix only did the soundtrack for Gundam Wing. I don't remember them doing it for anything else. But then again, I stopped watching a lot of it after Wing.

um, i really liked fushigi yugi and fruits basket. anime is usually very "dark" but very funni. hmm, i also like sailormoon..the first anime i watched (in elementary school).

yeah i like fushigi yugi too! fell in love with the comic, but haven't had the chance to see it on the tv yet. and evangelion and yu gi oh too. though my cousin stopped buying the yu gi oh comics and i'm like hanging halfway, and at the most exciting part too. hmm...can anyone tell me wat has happened so far? the 2 battles between the last 4 of them?

Fushigi Yugi is great! I have yet to see the two series they made to follow (where Tamahome and Miaka return to the book...and where Miaka is pregnant)&gt;

Marmalade Boy is a lot of fun...and LONG! (it's like 72 episodes!) But it's about a girl and this guy whose parents swap partners and they end up living together. (That is the basis for the series.) I could go into lots of details, but it would take forever...:D There are a lot of sub-stories, but if you watch this series, it'll make American soap operas look kinda tame. There's a short "prequel" which they call the movie that tells the beginning of the whole sereis through the guy's eyes.

O My Goddess is great too! (I am a big anime otaku:D) It's about this guy who calls to order food, but dials the goddess hotline instead. So this goddess shows up on his doorstep...and then the rest of the series happens. There's also a movie that's really good.

I think Ranma 1/2 and Robotech are my favorites. The first Robotech sereis is the first anime I watched, and then came Voltron.

For new stuff, I highly recommend Cowboy Bebop and Trigun. Both are airing on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim, but unfortunately they're dubbed.:P Cowboy Bebop is about this bounty hunters and takes place in the future. The story and animation are awesome! Trigun is kinda like a futuristic Western about this guy (Vash the Stampede, which is also the name of one of the members) who is being hunted down by all these people who want to turn him in for a ton of money (he supposedly killed a lot of people...). This story is more sophisticated, but it's very well-done and there is great writing and animation.

lol..how long ago was this topic? i think i replied before, but i'll just say again...I like Fushigi Yuugi too, but i haven't been fortunate enough to see the whole series. But recently, i got to learn more about Neon Genesis Evangelion, i know it's really old, but it's still a great anime. I really loved it, i don't usually watch that kind of anime, but it was really interesting, and each character had such an immense depth. But anyways, i'm interested in all anime, well more like japanese things in general. :)

i strongly dislike how sailormoon's voice is dubbed in america... that voice is annoying and if sailormoon sounds like that, i will not watch it...

Gwen, I didn't know you were an anime fan! Anyways, I used to watch it a lot in high school but college allowed me less time. I collect them though, so I have tons of anime that I just don't watch.

Anyways, recently I started watching again (like last year) and I really like Inuyasha. (I started a thread about it!) I like anything rumiko takahashi.

Also, my favorite anime right now is Juuni Kokki. I think this anime is by far one of the most different anime I have ever seen. All I can say is that it's great (it's about china, with a twist) and I am amazed that this story is so good.

AS with many obsessions of mine, I can thank my brother for introducing me to anime.:D It all began with a little anime known as Robotech (yay Rick Hunter!)

Anyhoo...my brother has Inuyasha which I'll start watching soon. I like to have minirathons and just watch hours of it. And lately, I've had a lot of freetime so I'm starting to get into again. It's on Cartoon Network..but unless you're desperate, don't ever watch anume dubbed! There are a million fansubs to dl out there!

My brother also recommended Rurouni Kenshin...something else to start.:D Plenty of time...:D

It's seems to be a movie produced by the makers of the matrix, and it features six stories by the top animators in the industry.
The artwork is pretty groovy. And because each animator has their own style, the work is pretty diverse.

After 3 or 4 years of MINIMAL training??! That guy just lost my complete respect and showed how freaking ignorant he is to the movies that he is filming. Anyways, good news!! I've just finished downloading one segment of the Animatrix, "Flight of the Osiris". And it's not some weird file which someone renamed "Flight of the Osiris". The quality is crap though, and after a glance thru, it seems to have a strong female asian character yet somehow manage to incorporate some hentai elements for the geeks. How can this be?
I'm gonna upload it on Briefcase now.

um, i really liked fushigi yugi and fruits basket. anime is usually very "dark" but very funni. hmm, i also like sailormoon..the first anime i watched (in elementary school).
can anyone tell me what inuyasha is about? and oh, my goddess? and marmalade boy? cuz i've heard them before but before i go and borrow from someone or download, i kinda wanna know wut it's about.

Inuyasha is an manga by Rumiko Takahashi, who also did Ranma 1/2. The story starts off with a girl, Kagome, who lives in modern day Tokyo, 1997. The family lives at this ancient temple place, with a shrine. They're kinda like the caretakers. Anyways, she falls through a well trying to get her cat back and ends up in the Sengoku Jidai Era( Era of the Warring States). She breaks the Shikon no Tama, a powerful jewel that grants powers, and has to team up with Inuyasha to collect all the pieces. She meets Inuyasha, who has been asleep pinned to a tree for 50 years by the woman he loved, by waking him up.
Blah, blah, blah......It's a long story and I'm sure most people here don't really want to read all about it. If you wanna know more, just PM me and I'll be happy to tell you all about it. It actually has a lot of similarities to Ranma 1/2, I think at least. But anyways, just PM if you wanna know more. In the meantime, I hope this helped.

I read manga a lot more than I watch anime. Maybe because I get no access to any of the shows... I actually like manga more because of the great artwork that comes with it.

My favorites include most CLAMP works (Card Captor Sakura, CLOVER, MKR, X, DN Angel) and other random (but very cool) ones like Yami no Matsuei, Hanakimi, and Angel Sanctuary.

Oh, and Escaflowne was more or less the anime that got me hooked. I love that anime.

There was one going on annually at Singapore Expo. I didn't participate but it was only then I realised that there were tons of anime fans in Singapore. I took tons of pictures of the event, so I'll try to scan and show them to you.
But I know what you mean the men. Ugh. But I don't think we want a anime-loving guy who dresses up as the Tuxedo Man from Sailormoon at a convention right? I did see a Inuyasha there, but he was so wrong for the costume, I wanted to rip it right off him. But didn't because I'm afraid he might interpret it as me thinking he's hot.

Every year in San Francisco, there's a Cherry Blossom festival in April and part of the celebration is an anime costume contest. There are serious hardcore people who spend the whole year working on their costumes (2 words- new life), but the guys who do it all fit the typical "geek" anime look. The funny, or interesting thing, is that most of the people that participate are non-Asian. After watching the parade this year, I notice that there were a lot of Caucasian girls that participated. Just interesting.

Another interesting note, the people (girls) wearing the least...really shouldn't be *shudder*.

About the anime conventions - yup you guys caught right on, those types of people were exactly the type that I was mentioning. It's always the white kids (some overweight) that dress up as anime characters... can't some "cool" people dress up?? I always see a bunch of dorks dress up and it just makes the outfit totally awkward, especially if they're supposed to be a "cool" character.

Well, I applaud them for spending so much time and effort on their costumes and all. It takes a lot of time I bet. But besides that... bleh. Also, one really annoying thing about the anime conventions is that almost all the white kids there (well most the participants, regardless of race actually) are just fan boys and fan girls. they're so ignorant about asian culture, they think it revolves around anime. it's so freaking irritating. also, some people I saw before just went dressed in chinese martial arts clothes. Actually, it's true. We are happy as we are, so we don't need to do that. Most of those Cosplay participants are dressing up as someone else, as a form of escape from their own unhappy life.
Of course, it's always fun to dress up as another character once in a while, say maybe Halloween.

One of my TEACHERS turned out to be this anime fan.. and I saw a picture of him at an anime convention.. and it would have been cool and all that, your teacher liking anime, but he looked so ridiculous (he was trying to dress up as that dood in Cowboy bebop with green hair) and he SO didn't look like him. Haha.. I laugh thinking about it...

But anyway, if I were a guy, I would want to be Keitaro in Love Hina. He's surrounded, not only by girls, but at where he works... a hot spring... haha, no, I'm not a pervert. He gets beat up a lot, though, so that's the downside of it.

Right now I am watching Get Backers, Naruto, and Last Exile. The three best series ever in my opinion ^_^. They are still running and have not ended yet. So I am hoping that when they do end, they don't have sucky endings. Because that can ruin a whole anime series from being good at all. For example Spiral, I hated that ending of that show. The show built up a really good story and mystery, but the ending just leaves more questions than answers. It just doesn't seem like a fit ending. Maybe they are saving it for next season, I hope so.

I also like this other mystery anime I saw a long time ago. I forgot the name of it. But I saw the live action movie of it recently at my friends house. It is about this guy called Kindaichi, I think, and he solves mystery, because he is a high IQ kid in the family line of a great detective. The Movie was REALLY good and had a good surprising ending. If I get the name of the movie from my friend I will tell you guys, because it is worth seeing.

Only watched a few anime series, but what got me started on anime was the amazing Slam Dunk. I'm still quite obsessed with it and I'm convinced that Mitsui Hisashi, Team Shohoku's talented three-point shooter, is my soulmate. :) To me, it's just the best thing ever. Well, kind of.

I also enjoyed Gensomaden Saiyuki a lot. Very intelligent anime/manga series. I never knew that one could ever exist, but there you go. :)

KANON!!! I'm serious, that thing put me into a HUGE depression! Awesome love story... really cutish animation, but the storyline is pretty mature...
Watch episodes 1-12, because apparently episode 13 was put in because the *real* ending (at 12) was way too sad for some people >.<

It starts out really slow, but gains momentum fast.
It's basically about a guy, Yuuichi, who goes back to the town he grew up in. The thing is, he doesn't remember his childhood. He meets a lot of girls, which bring back memories a bit at a time. But, something is really wrong with the town, and soon, things begin to unfold and he remembers the tragedy that made him forget his childhood.

Cool, mm? ^_^

I watched Hellsing before. A very nice anime indeed. I love the dual guns...one is the black "Hellsing" and one more is the silver platinum "Jesus is in heaven now." Damn...It's cool...really. :)
I also like that old guy who uses strings to kill...Damn...that is so cool. And of course, I love the last episode when Alucard gets the access to his true form to fight that weird monk...That's the best part of the anime really. :wink2:

FUNimation (Dragonball/Z/GT, Blue Gender) has decided to pick up the series and dub it in English. it will be shown on the Cartoon Network.
some think this is a great thing, but FUNimation tends to take forever to air the series' they licence.
also with licencing.. means no more subtilted episodes for those who DL the series in Japaniese.
its illegal to release subtitled anime once it is licenced.

the real crappy part is the fact that they did it at such a bad time. things are really getting intresting in the anime... and now all FMA lovers will have to wait an incredibly long time in order to see whats going to happen next.

i wish they would have waited till it was fully aired in Japan... then all 52 episodes would have been subtitles and no one would complain. sadly compaies dont take fans that DL the series for free into consideration when making these decisions.
so for us to complain..... well thats just dumb. LOL~!

FMA will be missed... i just hopw they dont chop it up and make it suck.... or change the title... i read somewhere they were thinking of chaging it to "Full Metal Magician" EEEK~! they better freaking not~!

I love this post^_^ It's about ANIME! I love anime. My first anime was Sailor Moon. hahaha. Then I went on to Rurouni Kenshin. There are a lot of good animes out there. Like Gungrave, Ai Yori Aioshi, Maburaho, Naruto, R.O.D. the T.V., Hikaru No Go, Gundam Wing, and many more. For those of you who haven't seen any anime, try it out. I'm sure you'll like it. There's also this thing called the Anime Expo (AX) every year at the beginning of July. It has everything about anime. You can also preview the new animes that are gonna have it's debut in the US. They also have an AX in Japan, too. A lot of people are getting into anime now. So it wouldn't hurt to take a look at it. Doesn't matter if it's those "stupid" anime like Yu Gi Oh, it's still art.

Fruits basket!! (what a girly name). Did anyone mention fruits basket??!! this is my current fav anime. =) i am really into character development and i especially like tohru and her innocent, sincere and understanding character (hence the avatar).

i'm also a big Escaflowne and Fushigi Yuugi fan. Escaflowne, because the music and animation is awesome. The suspense keeps you watching, and the plot was quite complex. Fushigi Yuugi because i'm a sucker for a romantic couple (miaka and tamahome). It was pretty funny too.

I just watched Initial D anime version, not finished yet, i watched until volume 5...pretty interesting anime..it's cool to see driving techniques, and lot of handsome characters there :sweat:

cowboy bebop is good, so is evangelion. both of those are really really really good anime series that you should watch. chobits is adorable! if you're a girl, i highly recommend chobits. di gi charat is adorable too!! anime's a good stress reliever when you're caught in stress :D

I just finished Full Metal Alchemist! :cry: I loved it! If you haven't seen it yet, i'd recomend it!

Right now i'm watching Naruto, Bleach, Melody of Oblivion, and kinda Beck. Naruto and Bleach are great series (even though i've only watched 1 episode of bleach :bleh:), Melody of Oblivion is really cool, but really werid but i like it, and Beck.... i've only seen 1 episode, but its interesting so i'm going to watch a few more episodes to see how it goes.

A good place to download licensed anime is suprnova (suprnova.org). If you download full metal alchemist, [SS] (aka sonchou/SHS) is the best subber. Suprnova has almost all current series i think, just make sure you don't download the ones with french subs -________- :bleh:
