Welcome to Jay-chou.net's 4th Annual Karaoke Competion!

We have a total of 16 wonderful contestants. This time, we're doing the voting a little different than from in the past. There will be 2 polls held at the same time, with 8 contestants each. (This is the poll for the first 8 contestants.) Voters will vote for their favorite entries from each poll. At the end of the voting period, the winner of each poll will face off, and the winner of the final poll will be crowned Karaoke King/Queen!

Ground Rules:
1) You are allowed to vote for yourself, but only once. Absolutely NO signing up for multiple accounts to vote.
2) DO NOT ask anyone to come vote for you. You may ask them to come take a look at the voting thread, though.
3) In general, just don't cheat.

Without further ado, the entries can be found in the link below, listed in the order that they are listed in the polls:
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=716581

For soundclick, click on either lo-fi or hi-fi and the song will begin streaming. Downloading has been disabled.

One last thing, please do leave some comments for our wonderful contestants! I'm sure they would really appreciate some feedback! Thanks everyone!

Don't forget to vote for the entries in Group 2! (http://www.jay-chou.net/forums/showthread.php?t=26815)

(For those of you that have extra time, take a listen to missTBA's recording! (http://www.sendspace.com/file/nety4v) It's not an entry and you can't vote for it since she didn't know she had to record a full song, but it's good, so I didn't want it to go to waste. Leave comments if you want!)

okok! i have listened to YuCheng and ryanjayfan so far. i picked those 2 because of two reasons, 1. that i like those songs, so i know what it should be like as opposed to listening to a song never heard before. 2. they are also difficult , with a range of vocals required.

i am a crappy judge/commenter, but oh well! i like listening =D

both ryanjayfan and YuCheng needed to boost their song with a bit more emotion, but whilst ryanjayfan did seem to be a bit off with timing, YuCheng was spot on, and his voice was quite well matched to the song. well done! congratulations to you both, and thanks for showing everyone your singing, im saying now that i probably wouldnt have uploaded mine for everyone to hear cos im horrible!

more comments later!

omo they are good, everyone is so talent. Here are some singers that I like koala--bear, Pet, Adee and Gracie. I love their voices and I don't know much about singing lol I voted for my Gracie anyway

I agree with Pam. Everybody is really talented. Some were better than others, some had a more emotional touch, etc.

However, I picked YuCheng. Ju Hua Tai is not...easy at all to sing, but I was impressed.

WOW!!! This is like the best karaoke contest we've had so far. Everyone sounds so good, this is gonna be tough. Did you guys like weed out the really bad ones for us ahead of time or something?

I listened to the first ~30 secs of everyone's to get a feel of their voices and I'll go back and listen to all the ones that struck me (which is pretty much all of them).

btw I like jay_fantasy8's karaoke. It sounds like the hidden track off an album when the artist decides to sing acapella. The birds and car alarm in the background make it even more...er realistic haha! I know BoA and some other artists have done that and that's what it reminded me of...

Very impressive everyone!

Just wanting to comment on missTBA's recording.

It was an acapella which I was quite impressed with because of the great mixing and I liked the fact that she did her own backing vocals. It was very original and different from Jay's version. Two thumbs up for the attempt!

omgosh i've been listening to the entries for the past weeks and all are so fantastic. ((:

i'm particularly drawn to retro's rendition of bei ji quan. there were several notes that were so beautifully hit ~! she's on tune throughout the song and her voice is superbly smooth plus versatile. those high notes were so effortlessly hit. really nice. you've got my vote.

the other entry that i like is yucheng. omg, he sound so much like a pro. his high notes were so awesome, and to think that a guy could reach those notes. im really impressed. but the only minor problem was that i couldnt get used to the strong nasal tone in his voice. and it was so hard deciding who to vote for between him and retro. x)

well done for the rest too ~! ahh and i couldnt download missTBA's rendition. ):

and yeaa. i didnt realise there's bird's chirping or the car alarm till i heard my rendition carefully. ._. and i thank you all for voting. (: plus there's a reason why i did a capella. i feel the most comfortable with it. x)
