Hi people.
I guess this is the point I jump in with my both feet into the unknown..... It is a huge responsibility, that I am not sure I am up to it.
Jay Dimensions, as some of you probably know, is coming back. But faced with the 'failure' of my last attempt to make something out of this, I guess I need help from all of you. I need lots of suggestions on how to make it a good solid fanclub, so as to give us our best chance to get it recognised.
We had thought of setting up a website for Jay Dimensions, so that people can have a place to communicate and exchange ideas. I need more ideas, like how to build up the kind of rapport, and teamwork? As far as I can see, getting people to meet is the most effective, yet the most challenging, as everyone's schedule is different, and some with personal constraints cannot meet so often. In addition, usually only the same few people will appear, and that defeats the purpose of meeting and making more friends....
I would love to jump into things and say Jay Dimensions is back, but I can't do everything. I have always been the most disorganised female around, and such things need lots of planning and organisation. So please forgive me if things do seem a little slow now. I am working on the webname, and hosting and maybe even a bit of web designing. But until the site is up, please do bear with me, and keep our discussions here on karen's site.
I hope to get some concrete suggestions to ensure Jay Dimensions fulfill what it was formed for. To establish ourselves as a good, reliable fanclub for Jay in Singapore, so that we may be able to form a possible alliance with the international fanclub, and keep everyone in the club updated about Jay's activities and appearance. Jay Dimensions would also appear as an united front in all concerts and Jay's activites.
I have dreams for Jay Dimensions, but they will remain as dreams unless you all help me build it on a solid foundation. Please help me.

Macdawn, I support you in spirit :hugz:
but I should be the last person you should consult on matters such as these, cos I am am kinda super introverted and would never meet up with other fans in real life ( don't like crowds/ meeting loads of strangers... I am weird I know ) ... hence a fan-club is never my kind of deal...
One thing I can perhaps say is that some people function in 'groups' so if you can get 'groups' of friends to join, then there might be higher likelihood that they turn up for events... cos some people are not comfortable with the idea of going and meet up with total strangers. Or perhaps an active chatroom will help, at least people already get to know each other virtually?
just my 2 cents worth. of cos I've never done fanclub of any sort before so I am not sure if this is helpful

You want to know the scariest thing?
I am the super introvert.....Other than crapping around this forum, I really dun do anything. My favorite hobby is writing lyrics, singing and cross-stitching.... seriously! I have so many of the threads, I even bought a file to put them in....
I wouldn't get out of the unless I really have to, and when I talk infront of many people, my mind goes blank and I talk rubbish... That's one of the reason I never made it thru any singing competition, I get stage firght extremely easily.... I like being alone in my own company, and actually fear meeting people I dun know face-to-face....
That's why I am taking a huge leap here..... I do hope that I can do something, and perhaps Jay Dimensions can help bring out the more active side of me?
Hmm.... perhaps all those who were thinking of joining Jay Dimensions are having second thoughts now? :hmm:
But it is true, that's why I need all your help! I have never form a club, or any fanclub. I know nuts about web designing, and what I know about computers you can put on a matchbox..... But I have dreams and I am working to make it come true...I have to constantly battle my inertia to push things along, borrow a whole stackful of books, and read during my lunchtime...... I am willing to take the leap, anyone else want to come along for the ride?

Hello MacDawn,
Only today then I knew about this thread regarding setting up a fanclub in Singapore. I am very willing to help however I am also introverted like you and Lattae.
I learned about designing a website during my poly days which is about 6 years ago, I have totally forgot how to do it right now, but I can try.
Pls let me know how I can help you in this. Hope to hear from you soon.
Good Luck!

macdawn you have my support.
i never had any fan clubs except a small useless and inactive little forum. i dunno what you need but then i'll try my best if you need anything. but then i'm not any big art student or neither i'm someone big, i may not be some big help though :shy:
argh but anyway, like what liwei_jay has said, PM me if you guys need any help...all the best :wink2:
edit: hey i'm another introvert...besides hanging around in this net, play my instruments hanging on the streets and rot at home, i've simply nothing to do too. meeting up will be great. in this way we can understand each other in a faster way and things might really get running.
Can't believe I missed this thread completely. Good on ya dawn, for wanting to embark on something on such a large scale. Here's some of my comments :
1. Contact the international club (in Taiwan?) and tell them of your intentions. At least tell them your initial plans, etc so that they are kept in the loop. That's pretty important. In fact, they might even have some tips on how you can run it.
2. Contact other fan clubs (ie, Hong Kong ? Malaysia? Any other country that has a well-run 'official Jay club'). I'm sure you can learn a lot from them and of course, hopefully, they'll be happy to share some good advice.
3. Setting up an official club would require some sort of registration with the Society of Clubs in Singapore, doesn't it ? Check that out. Once you have that "license", it'll be easier to sort things such as collecting of club fees, etc.
However, as per above, it'd be difficult to run a club with shy members who won't want to attend meetings because for a proper club, you'd need to have meetings with commitees members, etc. Fair enough if the ordinary members want to remain anonymous but at the very least, the Exco members HAVE to meet. I'd be honest to say that if no one is willing to step forward to be part of the Exco, etc, it's going to be almost impossible to form a good and solid club.
Just ene's 2 cents worth. All the best girl.

Oh goodness.... *looking at the date of the first date*
That has been such a long time ago.
I had registered the domain name about ayear ago, but because of the launch of the official international fanclub then, I am afraid the domain has been lying, erm, dormant for this long while.
I had tried to email the old company, BMG, Alfa, the then new company Sony, but I have been given the runaround if not the brushoff. For one thing, the Taiwanese side, they are not really caring much about the small market of Singapore (whom they had put under the 'international' section)... and even though I had tried to highlight that we are from JCN, the taiwanese is just not so keen on going anywhere that is not chinese.....
I would love to get Jay Dimensions going again, but, if I can't get the blessing from Alpha, we are always going to be the illegitimate child :depresse:
But, if we can get enough people together, we might be able to make it work again. But that will really depend on response. There is only so much I could do, as an individual. :worry:

macdawn hmm i have a suggestion now...maybe you wanna change jay demension into a chinese fan club? :?
yea i know if its international it must be in english, but then maybe you wanna think bout a site only for the chinese....

Kasic, Jay Dimensions is more or less a chinese fanclub, considering this will be a Singaporean fanclub. Jay Dimensions came from the chinese name 杰度空间 (Jie Du Kong Jian), we even had a T-shirt for it. But, after the formation of the international fanclub, I have more or less kept it on ice, although my VP is still very keen to revive it, and I still get request from people to join.
Although I had started the fanclub hoping to unite Singaporean fans for us to cheer for Jay in a unite voice, during meet the fans sessions, but I believed that to have an united fanclub, we have to meet and interact often to get the friendship and bond... however, if the activity doesn't involve meeting Jay, I am afraid the turn-out would be extremely bad.
I would love to get Jay Dimensions up again, but I need to get the support from people, and they'll have to work hard even though Jay Dimensions may never get recognised. I know I should be positive, but I feel that we have to see the bottom line first before we can start working on building something. I don't want to feed anyone on lies.

well, every1 is a definte introvent in this kinda stuff, who (as old as me-26, alpha male as well) wld wna wave thier hands and say they are a BIG fan of Jay, when truely in thier heart they are.. every1 hiding behind this internet thingy to prove thier loyalty, and i agree with macdawn, that a official fan club shld be formed. When i got into JCnet, i thot this was the one.... : ) , but watever, try to get those young kiddos, 16 to 20s, to help the club get gng, im sure they will be proud to be link to the pioneers of sg fan club... I can be of help too...

i do agree..
i mean.. alot of them here are really very enthuistic about getting
an official club up..
or joining one..
it would be good to actually hav one..
and everyone to be involve bout it... :-)
i'm sure i will.. :D
i think if u wanna set up a fanclub here.. at least find some enthu ppl first to help u.. coz one person setting up a club of a scale like this would require some mind boggling hard work to be done.. li wei and jaymie.. (the ppl who organized the initial d outing) are ppl that i think u can trust and try to contact.. and of coz.. cuso4 if u r ever gonna make a shirt for the club. haha,. :)

Hmmmmm, I can't help but agree with Chapman, especially to people around our age, who are already working and all and possibly having commitments. Just take the recent [Initial D] premiere for example. I was not able to join them coz' I had work commitments.
But I think we should give some credit to those who have worked hard at the banner and tShirts. I think they are the ones who will really help keep Jay Dimensions going.
MacDawn, you really might wanna consider getting them involved and start something.
And meanwhile, always recruit new and young blood coz' when fans start aging, they have a tendency to drop out due to other commitments. Just my five cents worth coz' I'm not in any position to say much as well.
