An appearance on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" was all the incentive needed for the Backstreet Boys to reunite.

After taping a spot on "Oprah" last month, the Boys have now decided to enter the studio to record the follow-up to 2000's "Black and Blue," MTV reports.

"We're all excited," Richardson told MTV shortly after taping the upcoming episode. "All of us hadn't been together in the same room in like six months, so it was wild. It was good to be back together again."

Richardson, Howie Dorough, A.J. McLean, Nick Carter and Brian Littrell, who got back together in March and decided to delay recording, will now regroup in January.

Okay, i know that this year spring they were gonna do it but then decided no, so now i really wonder if they gonna do it this time.
So anyone remember them, cuz these days don't heard much from them anymore.

nice to know that... I still think BSB is one of the better boy bands around... sorry N'sync... BSB still rocks...

hmm... but can we have less of nick carter's singing this time round... can't take his 'whining' anymore :bleh:

OMG YES!!! (I am a HUGE BSB fan^^)
I've been waiting for this day since last year..! I remember how they said they were going to release an album last year but nothing happened.. >.<
I wished I saw the Oprah episode

haha, i agree. i've never liked his voice. it gets kinda annoying after a while. guess that this might be the main reason why his solo career plans didn't work out. i've never been a bsb fan, but i admit they had a couple of pretty catchy songs. wish'em luck. :wink2:

oooh... thanks for the news, zhy378.

lattae mei, i think BSB is better than 'N Sync as well. :D they were the first group that got huge internationally, surpassing their predecessors, and i don't think any other boyband has topped them yet despite them being out of the running for a while now. even though 'N Sync got really popular, i don't think their album sales ever reached the level of BSB. oh, about nick's voice... well, he actually has a really strong voice. but it does have that "whiny" or "nasal" quality to it. so, he doesn't sound as good as brian does. anywho, this should be interesting. i haven't heard any of their stuff for sooo long now...

panda_shine, i wished i saw that oprah episode, too. i've been majorly out of touch with the western music scene...

lattae
12-07-2003, 07:44 PM
cashew jie>> I think even howie/aj sounds better than nick don't you think :?

actually I think aj and howie are probably the ones with the most under rated voices... they actually sound good... esp howie...

wackycashew
12-07-2003, 10:23 PM
lattae mei, yah... howie does all those cool falsetto parts. he's definitely got the voice. aj is pretty good, too. him and brian did all the lead parts before nick started to be a lead. they all have pretty nice voices. that's why i like "show me the meaning of being lonely". cuz all of them have a part and you can hear them sing solo.

as for albums, i think "black & blue" was a good effort cuz they started to include their own songs. the track that S.H.E just did a cover of - "how did i fall in love with you" - is one of my all-time fave tracks. howie was one of the songwriters for that song. :D

and i'm glad the boys will be making new music together. i guess it was a good break that they took. after all, brian and kevin are married already... =) oh, you know what would be awesome? if they record an a cappella track!! i love it when they harmonize. :)

I have to agree with what lattae and wacky said about BSB being better than N'Sync and how Howie and AJ's voices are better than Nick's. It's nice to know they're regrouping, but I'm kinda getting sick of their music. I used to be a big fan of there music but after 'Black and Blue' came out I stopped liking them.

Wow, BSB broke up?! :glug: I never knew and I used to love them as well! I totally agree that they're better than N'sync. I never really warmed up to N'sync, but I admit they did have some really nice songs. I could swear I once heard something about N'sync doing better than BSB though, cuz I remember being disappointed at hearing something like that. lol *shrugs* it was probably for something minor.

Nick and Brian were my fave -- they were best friends too! Nick used to be really good looking, but as he got older, he gained a lot of weight and got less cute. Anyway, hope the new album will be good.

i'm a huge fan of BSB since six years ago...really sad when they broke up as a group... hehehe....i like a.j the most....he's cool....but i like brian's voice!!!...especially when he sings ' More Than That'....Black and Blue album is till my favourite one.... :wink2:

lattae and cloudy, the first time i saw a BSB MV, i thought surely brian is the most popular guy in the group. i was watching the "quit playin' games" MV. later on, i discovered nick was the one that girls were most crazy over. anyway, i think brian has the best voice of the group. and he just seems really nice and down to earth. him and his wife look cute together. :D

xiaoli, i'm not sure if they ever officially broke up. i thought they just decided to take a break after the compilation album. so, nick started doing his own thing. and i think a.j. and howie did as well. not exactly sure cuz i haven't read up any news on them for ages now. nick and brian were also my fave. love how they always joke around with each other and how close they are. brian always considered nick's feelings about stuff. i remember how nick didn't wanna reveal his body cuz he was so scrawny back then. so, brian didn't do it either cuz he didn't want nick to feel left out. i think it was for the "all i have to give" MV. yeah... nick gained so much weight. he used to be THE cutie in the industry... and then girls started to go for justin timberlake instead... *shrugs* oh, the BSB vs. 'N Sync thing... i think 'N Sync started to take over in terms of the north american market. but at an international level, i think BSB was still much more popular than 'N Sync cuz they were sorta the forerunners of boybands. there were other boybands before BSB, but they never got as popular as BSB did as far as i can tell.

mein, i like "more than that" as well... so touching to hear brian singing his parts in that song.

Oooohhh! Thanks for the news! I liked the BSB alot too, when I was young...I thought they broke up...and now they'll make a new CD again! :excited: And I agree that they're better than N'sync. But I have to admit, I liked BSB because of Nick Carter. But now...yikes...he can't sing...-_-

and i totally agree that BSB is way way better than N'Sync. i hate N'Sync..especially that justin timberlake  .
i still have BSB the millennium album cd..lol their songs were pretty good. i wonder if they sing good now. anyway..thanks for the news zhy378~ =)

12-09-2003, 05:33 AM
haha cloudy you don't like Timberlake either?
His voice annoys me the most and he's a singer hehe.
I like BSB's older stuff too, their 'The Start of a Phenomenon' album was a good one because it was a collectors album.

12-09-2003, 05:35 AM
i was wondering,..u guys...whether any of you spotted the stuff up by brian in the "everybody (backstreet's back)" clip???

wackycashew
12-09-2003, 06:38 AM
haha cloudy... yeah... that was a booboo in the vid. i think there has been others... can't remember now. it was so long ago...

nupengyou, i didn't get that compilation album. i think "drowning" was the only new track right?

12-09-2003, 06:51 AM
ummm hmmm... actually, side-tracking for a moment, i'm a big fan of "phantom of the opera". =) i think a.j. played that role well. it was one of the better set-ups out of all the boys.

hey, what BSB vids do you peeps like?

cinsin
12-09-2003, 06:51 AM
nupengyou, i didn't get that compilation album. i think "drowning" was the only new track right?

Sorry the album was actually called 'The Start of the Phenomenon', actually I'm not sure I haven't listened to it for a while, but on the front of the CD it says featuring 'I'll never break your heart' and 5 bonus tracks. And there's no track on the CD that's called 'drowning'.

wackycashew
12-09-2003, 06:54 AM
hmmm... nupengyou, then i'm thinking of something else... cuz i remember they put out a compilation album as a 10-year anniversary of being together as a group, called "chapter one" or something along those lines. i didn't buy that album cuz i have all of their other albums, so i don't need the compilation. there was only one new song called "drowning". so, that "the start of the phenomenon" album... when did it come out? i might have missed it. and what are the 5 bonus tracks? :?

cloUdsuRFer
12-09-2003, 07:00 AM
favourite vids?

hmm...i love everybody...keke...and i thought the calling was pretty good....i can't really remember anymore...my brain is fogging up

wackycashew
12-09-2003, 07:13 AM
"the calling"... that was that weird one with howie being that girl in disguise and all those slashed posters... o.O it was an interesting vid. i'm a lil' fuzzy, too. but i did like "everybody" a lot. they put a lot of effort into that one. hmmm... i also thought "as long as you love me" was pretty cute with them all morphing and how they changed personas. nick had a funky green outfit and crazy hair. :D

lattae
12-09-2003, 02:01 PM
yes... 'as long as you love me' is my favourite vid... they all look cute in it... that innocent look  perhaps it's the time the released it... really caught me with my young raging hormones

'drowning' is a nice song... I think it's really well done... it really makes you 'feel' the whole mood so well...

BSB lives...

btw, mush as I dislike nick carter... I think nick's 100x cuter than Justin timberlake... gee... does those JT lovers have eyes/taste? guess they are just bimbos like Britney

12-09-2003, 03:42 PM
oh. my. goodness. the boys are back! cant say exactly how happy i am about this news! although i've outgrown them (kinda) since their last album. i didnt even buy nick's album eventhough i was so in love with him the greater years of my adolescence. but now they're back as a group! i cant wait!!! teenyboppers unite again! :D like cloudy said, it feels weird to be talking about them after sooooo long. i just hope the new album will be really phenomenal. because i think the black and blue one didnt do as well as the previous ones. the first three definitely belong to the top american albums i've ever heard. i wish they'd come out dancing again

wackycashew
12-09-2003, 10:31 PM
lattae, yeah... i liked the "drowning" track as well. the intro of that song actually reminded me of another song. haven't heard it for a while, if i remember, i'll edit this post later on.
EDIT: i remember now... the opening notes of "drowning" reminds me a bit of o-town's "all or nothing", which i think is a really nice track. =)

xoxo, haha... brings back such memories, eh? and i agree with ya... "black and blue" didn't do so well in comparison to their 3 previous albums. so, that's why it may have seemed that 'N Sync took over BSB in the american market. i didn't bother purchasing the nick solo albums either. i like the boys as a group more. love their harmony... especially when they do a cappella... i think their dancing was ok. i actually thought 'N Sync danced better. not sure if they had the same choreographer or not. anywho, i still like the BSB vocals much much more.

jessica
12-09-2003, 10:49 PM
yep, i have to agree with all you ppl who think that BSB is better than N'Sync.
i'm glad that they are regrouping... been waiting for a while... i only hope they will be as popular as before.

too bad N'Sync is regrouping also... can't stand them!

lattae
12-10-2003, 09:39 AM
why does N'sync have to copy what bsb does all the time?? don't them have a mind of their own... oh wait... perhaps that's what they are lacking eh

talk about a cappella, think bsb does a good job... I rank them behind 98 degrees in terms of a cappella... BSB is good... but 98 degrees is just smoother somehow...

Really? I must have missed the 'Chapter One' album.
I'm not sure when 'The start of the Phenonmenon' was released but I went and did a search and realised that it's was actually only released in Australia, but the weird thing is, my sister got it from Indonesia :glug:
Oh and it was released in 1998. I'm not sure what the five bonus tracks are but here's a list of the songs. Maybe you can figure out which songs are the bonus ones.

Got It Goin' On
Anywhere For You
Get Down (You're The One For Me)
I'll Never Break Your Heart
Quit Playin' Games (With My Heart)
Boys Will Be Boys
Just To Be Close
I Wanna Be With You
Everytime I Close My Eyes
Darlin'
Let's Have A Party
Roll With It
Nobody But You
I'll Never Break Your Heart
Quit Playin' Games (With My Heart) (acoustic)
Interview With Backstreet Boys - (Just To Be Close/I'll Never Break Your Heart/If I Don't Have You Medly)
Got It Goin' On (Amadin's Mix)
Don't Leave Me

oh, thanks for typing up the track listing, nupengyou. :flowers: from what i can tell, that album is the same as the very first backstreet boys album. the medley and the remix at the end are definitely bonus tracks. i think the european version of the BSB album had the most tracks. we always got the short end of the stick here in canada. so, i remembered that i had to scrape around to dig up other tracks that weren't released on the canadian version albums. interesting how your sis got it from indonesia. but i think the asian edition of the albums usually have more songs or some bonuses. lucky duckies...

lattae mei, i think 98 degrees is really smooth when it comes to a cappella stuff as well. i guess i still like BSB more overall cuz they came on the scene before 'N Sync, 98 degrees, etc. etc. =)

Hmm i think bsb is still better than n'sync in some ways  ..for some reasons i can only remember one of n'sync better songs and that was 'bye bye bye' i think or did i get it wrong? Bought one of bsb's old albums which was released like three yrs ago i think and it is still being played in my dad's car from time to time..Some of my favourite songs are 'quit playing games with my heart' and 'show me the meaning of being lonely'. That's quite a soulful song that will never fail to make me feel all solemn and depressed..

Still remembered that i have always liked brian  for his singing though most of my friends who were crazy over them at that time liked nicky alot together with his bro aaron who cant sing for nuts. One of his songs was 'I want candy' and he was like repeating it throughout the whole song itself..haha okay this is off topic but i m glad they are regrouping again..yay!

yeah, i thought aaron was a cute kid only cuz of nick. i only got one single of aaron's cuz it's got that "let the music heal your soul" song i love. and i have a 2nd-hand CD of his debut album cuz nick and brian wrote a song for him and nick sang some parts. didn't really bother with his albums later on though...

yup i have to agree that Bsb are more internatinal popular than N Sync, even though N Sync broked Bsb's record of selling more cds.

oh yeah yesterday watched that Oprah winfrey show with the Bsb in it. I didn't planned to watch it since i didn't even know what day it was. But anyway about the whole show was on A.j.'s drug addiction from when aj. was first annouced of doing drugs to now. omg it was kinda funny on how they talked that everyone of the bsb except aj was in suit. plus i think they all still loked the same couple years ago, except i think Brian got teeny weeny bit cubbier. :wink2:

I'm so glad they're coming back. I mean BSB is the best singers from the West! When they sing acapella... man... Plus they write and produce... awesome!

Yeah, I saw the booboo in the video.. Brian looked so blur and cute sitting there. My fav video would have to be "The One". Heh... haven't had a chance to see them live... the first time and only time they came to Singapore, I was having exams... after that... zilch... but I loved them from the start and Black and Blue definitely the best so far.

I love Nick! Hoho!

haha... thanks for the info, zhy378. i didn't even know that BSB was on oprah yesterday. ah well... and 'N Sync only sold more CDs than BSB in the US alone, or maybe North America. but at the international level, they can't even begin to compare.

lattae mei, i totally agree about guys in blissful marriages gaining weight. i think brian and leanne (?) look so cute together. i can't wait to hear more news about this album that's coming out. :D

Hmmm could it be time to dig out the old bsb poster from the back of my closet? They'll have to compete for wall space with Jay!

Wow it seemed like ages ago I was crazy about them... I was almost as obsessed about them a year or two ago as I am about Jay! Hahaha... It'll be interseting to hear them again after such a long break... I wonder if they've changed. I hope their CD is a success and everything, but old artists rarely make a good comeback... it's been tried before. oh well, at least we still love you!

well said bunny, BSB the fans still love you...

come to think of it, I was kind of a closet bsb fan... I never went crazy over them, collect all the fan stuff... in fact, I've never really told anyone I like BSB back then (I was more keen on 911-already defunct british boyband)... but amazingly, I've got all their CDs... i will unconsciously by them (like some inner natural force)

oh BSB...

btw, anyone has any idea how long we have to wait... I am so impatient already :bounce:

haha... i remember people trying to learn that dance. BSB came to toronto one time and had a mini concert thing at MuchMusic, which is a local TV channel for MVs and other cool stuff. anyway, some fans were selected to do stuff for them. this girl did that dance sequence for them. it was pretty interesting to watch. i think that's one of their best dance routines, if not the best.

nupengyou : you used to tape it too?... hehe, i didn't try to dance like them though... too bad i don't have access to their mv's on tv anymore

Haha yeah I did, I used to tape this program called Video Hits on tv all the time just to see what new MVs have come out. I had to tape it because it was on in the mornings from 8am-10am and I could never be bothered to get up to watch it so I taped it. I really liked the dance in the Everbody MV that's why I tried to dance like them. And the costumes were nice too.

i think that's one of their best dance routines, if not the best.

yah, it is one of their very few dance routines... cos brian and kevin can't dance to save their s  okay... not that I dance well, but the both of then really cannot make it in the dance department, esp brian...

that's why everybody is that best... cos it's the 'only' :bleh:

wackycashew
12-18-2003, 04:43 PM
haha lattae mei...

there's also the "as long as you love me" chair thing and the "all i have to give" hat routine. but i think "everybody" is probably the best and most solid dance routine for them. other ones are pretty simplistic. and brian is definitely much more of a singer than a dancer. :D

wow i've read through all posts and i realize there are none who liked nsync more than the BSB...seems like i'm the only one who thinks nsync is better...but i think that is because nsync knew how 2 dance better and that i am a dancer myself..

have to admit though that the BSB has more better songs and they sell so much more than nsync (most of nsync fans has tried denying this fact)

about their new album...well i think it's quite risky for the BSB or nsync to release new albums at this moment when hip-hop is the trend
unless i am wrong or all of a sudden, boy-pop resurfaced i think it will not be good for both boybands..
that's just my opinion i dunno about u guys

12-18-2003, 06:07 PM
yeah pop... not sure how well pop albums would do at this point. but i'm sure there will be some diehard BSB fans out there. heehee... and i do agree about 'N Sync being able to dance better than BSB. perhaps that's their appeal to their fans. but i still prefer BSB myself. admittedly, i think 'N Sync had some good songs. i liked their ballads. but BSB still had more hits that i liked overall. :D

haha cash i never thought there will be a situation between nsync and bsb fans like ours...we should be arguing!!

anywayz kinda a nice feeling to call a truce between the fans of this 2 groups
the artists are no rivals..it is the fans instead that are rivals to each other..

yah...i personally think justin is better being solo..
i knew fans of nsync will bash me up for saying this but i wonder what do the BSB fans think about this?

I love BSB..man.. i even join their international fans club..but really sad now..where are they?? after nick solo..haven't heard any of them anymore..

Well..i think the dancing thing is a must for boyband..hahaha..and goodlooking too..but the really must thing is they CAN SING..

pop, i think the whole feud b/w BSB and 'N Sync was created by the media and the fans really took it to heart. you know how artists are always being compared with each other... anyway, i wouldn't bash 'N Sync or anything. they're not bad. i just like BSB more cuz they came before 'N Sync. the same goes for 98 Degrees. they had some great songs as well. i usually don't care as much about the artists' looks and such. they gotta attract me with their music first. so, it's hard for me to just name off artists that i like at times cuz i usually go by songs that i like. then i end up liking so many songs by different people that i seem to like a whole slew of different artists.

tofu, i haven't spun my BSB albums for a while now... maybe i'll do that one day. :) just to recall all those good ol' pop songs. haha...

lattae mei, i know what you mean. i enjoyed those pop days. i think i've always liked pop music because a lot of asian music is centered around the pop genre. they're diverging a big now, but i just remember that the songs that were popular in HK or Taiwan were different from the song that people would like here. anyway, i'd rather listen to pop than rap that contains so many swear words.

w4t3r_lily, i totally agree. if they can't sing, then forget it. i don't wanna look at a bunch of pretty faces who have to lip-sync in live concerts. the dancing gives the group more appeal for live shows. otherwise, i couldn't care less if they can dance or not. i remember watching a faye wong karaoke clip from her concert. she just stood there and sang for the whole night. people attend her concert cuz she can sing! not cuz she can dance and have all these interesting stage effects or other factors. and when you get at the heart of it, that's what music is all about. this is getting a lil' off topic... but take jay for instance. he has a lot of elaborate costumes and cool effects. but if he can't sing, then i wouldn't care about all those extra stuff. :wink2:

regina, all of us are hoping that they would come back soon. :yeah: i never joined any fan clubs like that. but they were sooo popular! everywhere they go, they were filling stadiums and the girls... sooo crazy. they would follow the boys around and grab at them and such when they meet them.

oh, i just caught the ending of "sabrina, the teenage witch" the other day and saw that re-run where BSB guest-starred in that episode. have you guys seen that? they drank some soda pop at the end while playing bball in the school gym and then started to sing! :D i remember watching that episode quite a while ago. how appropriate that with their comeback, i got to see that bit of the re-run again. ^0^

heya jessica, yeah they did... they sang "as long as you love me" a cappella, i believe. they were in the school gym playing bball, and then they had those bottles of soda. after taking a sip, they all started to sing except howie. and howie didn't know what was going on. and then he took a sip too, and started to sing. then he joined the rest of the boys and they all sang on stage. it was for some school event that sabrina was in charge of, i think.

do you know if they participated in any other sitcom?

just to comment on the N'Sync vs BSB (i agree with you wacky)... i admit that N'Sync does dance better, but those dance moves from 'bye bye bye' gotta go... it looked so cheesy... there are a few ballads i like from them too... but BSB have better songs and i prefer their voices... i can't stand Justin's high pitched voice most of the time. ... i want to listen to songs, not watch guys dance... for that i can watch background dancers (and they are more skilled at it)... hope i didn't sound too harsh

hey, just hear a news on AJ, he was kinda hero few days ago. here's the news.
---A.J. McLean broke into action star mode in Las Vegas last Monday night, chasing down and catching a fleeing thief, reports the Las Vegas Sun. The song-and-dance man was spending his hard-earned royalties in Rocks, the 24-hour jewelry store (only in Vegas, people) located in the Hard Rock Hotel, when a fellow patron ran out with $40,000 diamond ring. "The girl at the counter screamed that she could not leave the store, so A.J. just shot out of there like a rocket," a friend of the singer's tells the paper. McLean caught the thief in the parking lot with the help of a bike-riding hotel security guard.---
so what do you guys think?

But u know Aaron Carter? Damnnn, he looks sooo much like Nick now!

Yay, their cd is out in summer!!
here's the news:

Backstreet Boys fans can look forward to a comeback album from the band this summer, followed by a tour in the fall, Rolling Stone reports.

The band has spent their two-year hiatus reflecting on their success and getting ready for their new album.

The songs that are currently being recorded for the album in various Los Angeles studios are said to be a more mature sound from the teen pop stars.

The album will feature a couple of ballads co-written by Howie Dorough that are reminiscent of Craig David's urban soul vibe.

The boys say that the album will touch on many different styles of music to reflect the all the music they have experienced over the past couple of years.

They also plan on collaborating with an array of different artists including the Matrix and the Underdogs. Keith Richardson and Nick Carter are also hoping to write with hip hop/funk musician Kenna.

I think it's kinda strange that Nick and Paris are a couple. I think she probably picks out his clothes or something, because he is definitely looking hotter recently. I didn't really dig the whole rocker thing he was going for when his album first came out but I think he's toned down now.

Yeah, Nick did put on some weight but I think he looks ok now. He probably won't get back to his old weight but I think he looks good now. Not too fat or skinny, somewhere in the middle. That's fine by me. :)

OMG...speaking of Nick Carter, I've met him before! When he did his solo tour last year. My friends and I found his bus and he came outside to let the fans take pics and give him gifts. yah i always did like backstreet boys over all of the other boy bands...their songs are such good songs for big-group-sing-alongs, especially for college students in dorm rooms. it's surprising that guys aren't horribly embarrassed to sing backstreet boys songs very loudly and very off-key...instead, I get embarrassed for them.

PASADENA, California — The Backstreet Boys' return to record shelves this year will mark the start of two comeback efforts: that of the group, of course, and that of the producer who led the charge during the '90s pop explosion.

"We just got finished working with Max Martin again," an animated A.J. McLean said of the producer behind countless Backstreet, 'NSYNC and Britney Spears hits. "He kind of went into hiding for a little bit, took a little break from the pop world and had a baby. And we caught wind through our record company that there was a song he wrote that he thought would be cool for us to try.

"It's a little bit more of a rock edge," he continued, "but we went in and tried it and it turned out great. It's a great record, and it's good to be around Max again."

Like the Backstreet Boys themselves, Martin is blending the sound he became know for with the current hot styles. "Music has changed," Nick Carter explained. "So he's gotten back in, he's reinvented himself, and hopefully we can be the new product of what that is."

In the studio with Martin and other producers, the Boys are doing some reinventing of their own.

"It's got urban, it's got pop, it's got rock, it's got ... everything," Brian Littrell said of their new music. "We're just kind of mixing the pot up and seeing what comes out and trying to put a great record together, just good, positive music. ... It's a little different, but still the traditional Backstreet sound because you've got all five voices on it."

The Backstreet Boys are more than halfway finished with their still-untitled new album, which will also feature a collaboration with Boyz II Men produced by Walter Afanasieff (Destiny's Child, Mariah Carey) and a teaming with a cappella veterans Take 6.

"Howie [Dorough] wrote a song, and [Take 6] arranged it for us, and we performed a little bit of it tonight a cappella," Kevin Richardson said backstage at the recent Wango Tango Festival (see "William Hung Overshadows Backstreet Reunion, All-Star Lineup At Wango Tango (http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1487059/05172004/hung_william.jhtml)").

The group recorded four songs with the Underdogs, a production team best known for work with Ruben Studdard and Stacie Orrico (see "Backstreet Boys Rekindling Fire In Studio After Three Years (http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1485344/02262004/backstreet_boys.jhtml)").

"The first records we did with them were very urban, what they normally do," Carter said. "And then we said, 'Why don't we just try to do something different?' We listened to, like, a Peter Gabriel record and we wrote, all of us collectively, wrote a song with them that was just, like, pushing the envelope. And we really got a chance to see how talented they are as producers and writers. They're good 'cause they're flexible."

Carter and his cohorts are aiming for a late summer release, followed by a fall tour.

"We're gonna try to kick off in September, October, maybe do Europe," Dorough said. "We've actually started talking about doing some shows over in Japan and China for the first time. Most likely the plan would be to come back to the States and kick off a world tour. Hopefully for a whole year."

"We just have to make the right record first, then we go from there," Littrell said.

they have a new song called Beautiful Woman. i've been trying to get it somewhere, but the link is not working right now. if i get it, i'll upload it. :) from what i heard, it sounds michael jackson-ish and nick hits some high notes. :glug:

Aww...you got to see them perform Lisa? And look at you being greedy...wanting to see them twice lol I would've been even MORE jealous if you got to see them twice in ONE day :D

And you've heard their new song already?! Hehe I wonder if they've played it on the radio yet. And doesn't Nick usually sing the high notes anyway :? So it wouldn't have been that hard for him to sing them.

I think my fave members were AJ and Howie D, I don't think a lot of people liked them...especially since AJ was in rehab or was it Howie? Hehe can't remember anymore.

twinnie: it's not like i can drop by and see them anytime, janine. anyway... *high five* :)

Yeah I think Nick was like 14 when he first started the BSB.. so I guess his voice would've changed a lot since then. And yeah Nick had his own solo album and I don't think it did that well (well compared to Justin Timberlake!^^).

looks wise, I think Nick is way cuter than JT... but to a certain extent, JT has a better voice.

but I feel that Nick's voice has matured a lot, he's improved really... I couldn't stand him when he was a "screeching" teen

Hmm I didn't really liked Justin when he was in N Sync but I started liking him after he came out with his solo album... but now I don't really like him now. I heard N Sync was going to get back together to do an album but Justin said he didn't want to be part of it.

But ANYWAYS... I have some Backstreet Boys news :-) :-) I can't wait till their new album

Backstreet Boys choose comeback single

03/11/2004 - 17:05:59

The Backstreet Boys have taken another step to assure fans they are still together, by announcing the first single from their anticipated album.

The singers are currently working on their first album in over three years, and many critics have been casting doubts over a return.

But six weeks after announcing plans for a world tour, band member AJ McLean's mother Denise declares their new song has been chosen and it's called Poster Girl.

She says: "The boys are now in Stockholm recording with Max Martin, and will be back to their respective homes at the end of this month. As far as my son tells me, the first single is still due out at the end of the November."

"Brian Littrell, one-fifth of megaselling group Backstreet Boys, has officially signed with Christian music label Reunion Records. Littrell has always wanted to record a Christian album since his musical roots are in and around religious music. But before that project is done, fans can expect a new Backstreet Boys album by spring of next year and an as-yet-unpicked single to be hitting airwaves in January."

woah, nsync broke up?? uh, no, they're just on a long break, im still pretty mad about that, i love them! but no matter when they did not break up, they're still officially a band, they reunited for their anual basketball game for the charity

anyways, back to bsb, what cd are you guys talking about, i mean i havent heard ANYTHING, about backstreet boys releasing a cd soon , other than they have regrouped and are recording... i wonder how their music will sound like, i mean the whole "pop" music world, has turned in to a rap/R&B/hip hop atmosphere in the US

okay so their first single is gonna come out on the radio on March 18. "which still deciding between "Incomplete," "I Still" and "Weird World, some radio stations began playing a leaked song called "Incomplete" last month, that many have assumed it's the first single from the group's as-yet-untitled new album, but that may not be the case."The group finished recording last month and is now narrowing down a list of 43 completed tracks to the 15 or so that'll make the album "

I went to the BSB club tour this past Monday night @ NYC. The concert was held the last two nights - 3/21 & 3/22. It was HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This concert was standing and the club was small. Even if you were in the back, you could still have a good look of them comparing in a big arena concert. These club tour concerts were just something they wanted to do for the fans. I think they just wanted to regroup fans together because they took a very long break. I think 2-3 years already. I was up front. I stood 8 hours on line in the freezing cold just for that spot haha!

I met them upclose 3 times!! [3/21: When the entered and left the club. 3/22: When they left the club.]

Sorry to make this short. I'll update details and pictures soon. Just wanted to let you guys know.

i'm looking forward to this as well. i think there are some previews floating around. anyway, just wanted to clarify that zhy378 said that the boys were narrowing down a list of 43 to the final tracklist of around 15. the CD will NOT contain 43 songs. that'd be insane. i know previously they had different numbers of songs depending on european/asian, canadian, US releases. but i hope it'd be the same this time. i think a realistic number would be 10-13 tracks, and maybe more in european/asian countries if they're doing what they did before. =)

sweetzmelly: wow! that's so awesome that you got to see them for 2 nights in a row. :excited: thanks in advance for sharing your experience and pics. :-)

i've been going through a trip down memory lane and listening to my BSB CDs again. i think the 3rd one is still my fave of all time, with the most number of tracks that i like. =P heehee...

punkymeh no i dont think so. they have left us with a great memories of them before they left. now that they are coming back, i'm sure everyone will be very excited...

plus i'm sure they know their age now. i believe there will be lots of big changes to this new album compare to what they always do in the past.

i think they are not going to make alot of money out of it!! its just going to be a waste of time!!

making an album is like recording something you have created. if its money and fame your going for, might as well dont make it right?...

i actually heard one of their new songs on the radio when i was driving home today. at first i didn't recognize them... :shy: heh, actually i didn't even know it was them until the dj person announced it after. they kinda sound like Brian adams, raspy and emotionally troubled.

i loved the bsb, they were a bunch of kewl, cute, wholesome boys. I compared all the guys that i knew to them, actually with only Brian, cos he was my fav. heh.

i duno if i'm gonna buy their album when it comes out cos aren't they aren't realli "the backstreet boys" but it's like they are "the backstreet men" heh :bleh:

oh wow Thanks zhy378 for the news! I already wrote down the date on my calendar :shy: coz I can't wait lol

I was just checking the mtv.com website.. and turns out the BSB will be in a reality show.

Backstreet Boys Seeking New Bodyguard — Via Reality TV
The Boys are back in town — and they're about to tackle reality TV.

As the Backstreet Boys prepare to kick off a comeback tour this fall, the group is also looking for a new bodyguard. The Boys hope to find one by way of a new reality show called — what else? — "Bodyguard," according to Variety.

The "American Idol"-like competition will whittle down a group of contestants until one man or woman is left standing as the Boys' protector.

The new reality series is being developed by the Boys' management team, Wright-Crear Management, and will be produced by Jonathan Taylor, creator of MTV's "The Osbournes."

Although the Boys will make occasional appearances on camera, their role on the show will be secondary. However, "Bodyguard" will be used as launching pad to promote the group's return to the pop scene after a three-year hiatus. The final episode of the show will follow the winner's first day on the job as the group's arena tour kicks off. Plans call for the show to be pitched to the networks later this month.

The Boys have already returned to the studio with producer Max Martin, who also helped fuel the careers of Britney Spears and 'NSYNC (see "What Year Is It? Backstreet Boys Planning World Tour, Working With Max Martin"). Collaborations with Boyz II Men and Take 6 are also in the works. The first single from the new album is expected to be released later in the year.

The new song is pretty good. They came out with a whole new sound. That`s expected I guess since they have all grown and matured from the last time they had an album. I don`t know if they have a video out yet though, but it would be interesting to see what they come out with.

I can`t believe they are making a reality show about finding a new bodyguard either >_<
It`s probably just to get some circulation out to the public about the fact that they are coming out with a new CD

You're very welcome, w4t3r_lily ^_^ Be glad to share.
I know a lot of people, esp BSB fans, have been waiting a long time for this long overdue album.
First impression wasn't all that great in my opinion, but after a few times on repeat, I've grown to like it more.
Hopefully when the official release comes, people still buy this album. Or else, it would be such a shame to see their comeback effort to be to no avail.

I heard their whole new album.
Still I think 'Incomplete' is the best song.
The others are okay only. Not as great as their old songs.

Although their new songs aren't as good as their old ones, but I still really like it! I really like, "I Still", "Siberia", and "Safest Place To Hide". I am soo excited that the cd is coming out in just 3 days and I really hope that all of you who downloaded it will buy their new cd to support them :wink2: :wink2: I saw their MV too and.. it's Kevin who played the piano

not a huge BSB fan, but i thought that their new comeback single was pretty good.
nothing fresh or WOWing, but the tune is still quite nice in the usual BSB style.
and goodness the 'Incomplete' MV was sooo beautifully shot! was utterly impressed.

To be frank, I think BSB have stayed with this ballad, smooth style too long. It started to the end of their 'previous' career. I can pick one or two songs out of the new album that have the old 'Pop' kind of feel, which is why they were so special, but the rest are a bit... meh. Take 'Incomplete', personally, not my no.1 out of the album, Climbing the Walls is better!

<-- Will now stop sounding like a bitter lemon :bleh:

Anyhoo, not an album I'm fangirley about, but its good pop in comparison to the rest.

so i got the album.. and after 2 long years of waiting for this album [as in, two years since they said they were working on another album].. i finally have it in my hands!! i love the album, but i hafta admit, their older albums are much better. yes, this is definitely a more mature sound for the backstreet boys, but it only makes sense since they're getting old :P

i LOVE the incomplete MV; the scenery is beautiful and the way it was shot is really good. joseph kahn does amazing stuff (: for some reason, kevin looked really hot playing that white piano (; [kinda reminds me of jay? haha]

nick is usually my favorite.. but everytime i watch the video, he kinda reminds me of a bird.. like the way he acts.. i dunno.. there was a lot of head bobbing and weird movements in there from nick. did anyone else notice that? lol

my favorite songs in order:
1. incomplete
2. safest place to hide
3. poster girl
4. i still...
5. never gone
6. lose it all

the rest are decent. but overall, i'm really happy with the outcome. mmmaaannnn i'm so glad backstreet boys are back. reminds me of the good ol teenybopper days. lol.

I got the album a few days ago too.. the DVD enhanced version too

LOL, junnleenfaah.. a bird? But anyways, yeah Kevin playing the piano really reminds me of Jay too!! plus, he's wearing a suit too so.. But yeah, Kevin he's definitely looking very handsome these days hehe :shy: Brian use to be my favorite but now he's alright.. it's more admiration than anything else because he's such a wonderful person

Anyways.. something I want to share with the BSB fans

LOL, junnleenfaah.. a bird?

YES! A BIRD! just watch the video and like.. the part where they're all together in front of the building thing [its kinda at the beginning] and nick has his arms spread out and he does this head movement thing and it reminds me of like.. a squacking [sp?] bird.. lol..

btw, thanks for the links! is there any way you can put it into a windows media player format though? =/

What's in the DVD? The store I went to buy the album from didn't have the limited version. Or perhaps it was gone by the time I went. I went pretty early. I know the US version has a dual CD. I hope I can get that when I go back in August.

panda_shine
06-22-2005, 04:13 AM
The enhanced cd (dvd) has the Incomplete MV, and the Behind the Scenes of Incomplete. And the cd case shape is slightly different from the original ones.. like the opening side is curved. Yeah, the first time I went to HMV.. I didn't get it coz I wanted to go to other stores to see if they sell it cheaper.. but they didn't have the enhanced version at another store.. so I went back to HMV the next day and it was sold out .. so I ended up going to another HMV location

haha yeah i got the enhanced version/dual disc version one..its pretty good..but its nothing compared to their previous cds

junnleenfaah
06-29-2005, 01:41 AM
regina, i thought there was no limited edition and that all of them had the dual disc? well basically, the dvd basically has all the songs on it, discography, and the making of their music video "incomplete".. nothing too special.

and i agree with pinkcherries, their old cds were better. this one is good but not as good as the old ones.

btw, can anyone play the CD side on their computer? because it wont play on mine and it sucks cuz now i cant put the songs onto my ipod )= if anyone knows how to fix this problem, i'd be so grateful if you could help me out!!

I think the new album is awesome. No other word for it.

I especially love "Poster Girl", "Siberia" and "Beautiful Woman". Seriously. I know it's not like the ballads they're famous for but artists don't wanna be the same all the time and release the same kinda songs and it's unrealistic for fans to expect that. I think they've grown as a band, musically and personally, and it's good stuff, the new album.

BACKSTREET'S BACK!!

Togepi43
01-28-2006, 04:43 AM
you're right, they've definitely grown musically as a band, and even though we'll all (i'm sure) miss their glory days of selling 10million+ albums across the world and their biggest hits- it just wouldn't be right if Never Gone had the same sort of songs as Backstreet's Back, let's say.
that said, I'm kinda disappointed that their Never Gone tour is being promoted as being more "organic" and having none of their former spacesuits and laser lightshows!! That sounds boring!! lol!

I'm going to their Melb concert next week, I sure hope the promo posters were wrong about not being as exciting as before hehe.. though it'll still be exciting anyway cos they ARE the Backstreet Boys ;) I've never seen them in concert before!!

I love them~ but I just dont know why they broke up and got back together

they never broke up, they were just on a hiatus to do their own things. of course i'm sure some reasons for their hiatus was partially because some of them are married and wanna spend time w. their family [like how brian had a son awhile back] and like nick tried to set off his solo career [which i think was a huge mistake]

Never gone is totally different from the first 4 albums..

They always started the first song with something that brings your mood up...

with songs like everybody, larger than life, the call etc.

Now their "Never Gone" album starts the song with incomplete and it is some saddy song..

Well, i guess time changes many things...

I just saw a clip of Brian performing for his single, Welcome Home.. and he said he'll be back in the studio with the boys in the summer! I am soo excited for the upcoming cd.. whenever the release date is!

I actually heard about them going back to studio about a week ago on the radio but I didn't really believed it. And the radio DJ made such a  comment about how they didn't do too well on their last album and they are still going back in studio. Anyways, I am glad it's true because I am so happy they are getting back together once again! I can definitely seem them singing together like 10, 20 years from now.. haha.

panda_shine it already came out, or at least from what i've read, it came out last month

"The album was released last month and features 11 songs of contemporary Christian music – six of which Littrell co-wrote.

"This record has been a three-year process in the writing and in forming the material I wanted to include," he says. "It's special to me. It's 11 of my favourite songs."

Littrell dedicates the song "Grace of My Life" to his wife Leighanne and his son, Baylee."-http://www.andpop.com/article/5985

I grew up listening to pop music as well and I've been a fan of the BSB since 4th-5th grade (around 9-10 years old) so it's been almost a decade for me too.

New Backstreet Album, Solo Album from AJ McLean, Due For 2007

"(andPOP) - Backstreet will be back again next spring with a new album, reports Access Hollywood.

AJ McLean told the entertainment show that the foursome (Kevin Richardson left the group in the summer) has been writing and recording new songs with producer Dan Muckala and writer-producer Rob Wells.

"It's very piano driven," McLean told Access Hollywood. "It's very guitar driven. Lyrically, it's great. Melodies are back. Harmonies are back."

"It's not so dancey in that sense," he added. "We're still gonna dance, we're still gonna be on stage, we're still gonna perform, but it's just really great music. It's always been about the music for us. That's the bottom line."

McLean is also gearing up to release a solo album also next year, but after the next Backstreet album hits record stores.

"Mine's definitely rockier. Mine's more eclectic. It's got everything that defines me from rock, soul, funk to all live instrumentation," he said of what will be his first solo effort. "I'm writing the entire thing along with these producers and it's a lot of personal influence and it's more real. It's not about 'Hey! Nice car, nice ass, nice jewelry,' it's about personal things -- things that piss me off, my relationship with my father, relationships, just things that I wanna get off my chest"

The singer added that he hopes to do some after-show club gigs when the Backstreet Boys go on tour next year. After that, he will set of on a solo tour. " source- http://www.andpop.com/article/7480

:D wow i wasnt expecting them to have another album already. like sure the annoucement of kevin leaving them made a disappointment that they would break up but still. but i still hope kevin might join in special occasion like a guest singer in one or two songs.

thats koo aj is gonna have a solo album. so that leave how many bsb member who hasnt done a solo album?:glug: sowie my bsb history is a bit rusty, they been together too long, makes me think if they're like the king of boybands!
