Do any of you guys play DDR or PPP? Weee its so much fun especially the big machines in Taiwan. Hm.. I wanna buy PPP but its only in like Taiwan, Japan, China ect. and not in the US. Then if i buy it, I would have to buy a PS2 from the same country for it to read. Should I? And is it worth it? Does anyone know where I can buy it in the US? Do any of you guys have it?

hmmm... i don't know too much about DDR and PPP, but this sounds like it should be in the Fun & Games forum. :wink2: there should be more game experts there. heehee...

i prefer to play Pump it Up.. there are only 2 Machines in the whole of Malaysia. thankfully they are both near my place! i feel it's more fun.
i have a home DDR though. use it to exercise..

yea they remix heaps of the songs and put them back in. i only just started playing. so many pump it up machines here in sydney  . but then people stomp on them, so the pads are all not sensitive.

talk to the arcade owners and tell them to buy them! my friend goes to the arcade so much, shes friends with the owner. got him to get the guitar machine and the drum machine!

well, i don't go to the arcade that often. only once in a while.and then there will be ppl there hogging the machine for hours! they are so good, i don't dare to play when they are around! but i know of ppl who goes there like everyday to practise! and yes, they know the arcade owners. he even let them play for free on sundays , for 3 hrs.

lol. 1 machine is not cheap! i wish they would bring in newer machines, like the latest Prex 3 . our machine is sooo old, it's like first few perfect collection, released in 1999 i think.! the pads get stomped on so hard so it's not in that good a condition anymore. then the other is the O.B.G machine. it has more songs but not so user friendly.. it's all in korean..

where as DDR, they always got new machines.! and the old ones nobody will play.

u don't have to buy Ps2 from asia countries to read games from asia.
you just have to mod your set and you could read every region disc.
but buying a Ps2 just for PPP is not worth it.but there are tons of interesting games for PS2.
so you can just buy a US ps2 and start playing those PPP.i think u should be able to find Ps2 in Us easily.
and you can go online to buy those PPP disc

do you know where i can modify the ps2? i saw that they were selling a universal one that can read everything but thats $399!! also.. how much is it to get it done?

in US.
i am not so sure.
i think u can mod ur sets in videogame shop.
or go online and buy a mod chip then install it urself.
i think it is cheaper that way.
go here
http://www.mod-chip.com/
then click PS2
i think the best mod chip only cost US$69
so the Ps2 set cost like US$200 and the modchip cost US$69.
so the whole set should cost US$269.
so the US$399 set is too expensive.

what's pump it up??

the arrows are diagonal, and its songs are korean right? i dont know, people tell me that the arrows were set by professional dance people. ive never tried ppp before, but ddr at home lags =/

ppl there hogging the machine for hours! they are so good, i don't dare to play when they are around!

haha same  . the arcade we go to is pretty dark, so i dont mind as much. we have a machine at uni, but its out in the open. me and my friend had a goal of playing on it one day!

adnam8 : yeap, i try to go really early when there's nobody! it's very fun though if nobody's watching. it's just at the entrance of the arcade. so imagine everybody passing by and looking. but they won't look if ur lousy. haha.

yeap : the arrows are up left, up right, down left, down rite, and another pad in the middle. at first i wasn't used to the middle pad cos i played ddr first. but after a while i feel it's more natural. and yeah, the dances were choreographed by real dancers, so it actually feels like we're dancing.

wow how cool is that u have a machine at Uni! so since it's there u should make use of it.. :)

i also don't dare to play PPP though. but it's really cute watching the ppl dance. the really good ones. most of them are guys!

hehe, i love this pic. its from uni  in the link, u can actually see the AA  we kinda stole it from someone else who played

yea, that machines at the entrance as well. and people watch the lousy dancers as well.. its good for a laugh

i know on pump, on the song virus, theres a part where u spin :D hehe, i can do that sometimes.. i've probably seen ppp before, i just dont know what it is.. :? guess i should find out..

lol. i think i got a F for beethoven virus. i like the song so i chose that, how embarrasing! didn't play it anymore after that.

Para para Paradise, it's the machine with the Sensors up there? u gotta dance by moving your hands. the para para dance..
i wonder how do u play at home??

kei
12-08-2003, 10:13 AM
me too. i saw the para para paradise being sold at bishan junction 8. felt like buying it, but i reckon its price wouuld be kinda steep. i also wonder how do they play it at home? it's gonna be weird if you have to fix all the sensors up together DIY.

ddr is quite fun, but all the craze is over. now when you go to the arcade, all you see are n00bs stomping their way all over the pads. all the ddr experts now turn to ppp, i guess. i play both and i personally feel ppp is better and more fun then ddr. you just can't get sick of it all.

adnam8
12-08-2003, 11:46 AM
haha, its classical watching the stomping. specially on beginner mode where u CANT fail  I only recently started being able to pass virus  . omg, i played with slip on sandal shoe things the other day. and after all the stomping the pads were so NOT sensitive

i kinda assumed that was ppp, but couldnt see how u could play at home. thats... strange. i like that game where theres 3 arrows and 2 hand sensors. but i cant figure out how to work it  . so i only play when my friend is there :D

:) i have this video of this guy playing beethoven virus on double mode. it was soo cool!

is that the ez2dancer .. or something. at first i thought it was another PIU.. never played it b4 though..

i think the local arcade near my house has that 3 arrows, 2 hand sensor plaything you mentioned, adnam8. i once saw this couple playing it, they had loads of retro and 80's songs, my favorite is staying alive. LOL :D

it was so colourful.. it'd blind you. x_x

adnam8
12-08-2003, 02:27 PM
omg, talking about blinding! anyone from sydney, dont play pump at parramatta! they set it really bright or something. i so couldnt see after a game!

yea, its ez2dancer... or something like that. :D i can only play reaaaly simple songs on that tho.

 anything on double mode looks good. well on piu anyhows. i dont know, not the same effect on ddr. i prefer watching the people play on heavy when its ddr

hm.... wonder what would happen if a song by Jay was made into a song for DDR

kei
12-09-2003, 06:49 AM
that'd be fantastic! but if you really think about it, most of jay's songs are not suitable for dance. either too sad and/or solemn or weird (think 'yi fu zhi ming'). just imagine you dancing to 'yi fu zhi ming' with all the gunshots and keyboard-screaming.

yea that would be scary but songs like number 9 on the first album *just blanked out and couldent think of the name* would be perfect!

I guess I'll be the one to revive this thread(I hope). But, I love DDR!!!:excited: And I love Pump It Up!:excited: And I am so angry:-x because they said that DDR SuperNOVA is going to be released first in the US.....HOW DARE THEY CALL IT A RELEASE WHEN THE ONLY STATE THAT HAS IT IS CALI.

I read earlier about people wanting to custom make their DDR pads. Most of my friends, either order the red octane one online or they duct tape their vinyl ones they get with their PS2 to a plank of wood. But my brother had to go all out though.....he bought the metal arcade pad online, and after we get our tax return, we're going to buy another one to practice doubles.

DDR ROCKS!!!

~any DDR enthusiasts still left in here.....show me some love!!!!!!
