I guess it's been a while since I walked into a CD shop and decided that I want to buy the CD they're spinning at the moment. I felt compelled to write this.
The first thing that struck me was how easy the entire album is on the ears. It had an 70-80s touch to it (sorry I didn't quite live in the era so it's to tell), the very kind that makes you want to tap your feet and groove to the beats. Highly recommended for spinning in the car, or on one of those long bus rides.
Mika is trained in the Royal School of Music, and was singing in the Royal Opera House before he switched to the pop music industry. This guy can seriously belt it out. His vocals crisp and well controlled falsettos complete his next to flawless singing.
Clearly a mix of goof in the groove. Even if everything else fails, the element of "fun" in the album will get you moving. So spin this!
Recommended Tracks:
1) Grace Kelly - Dreamy and upbeat is the signature of this song. It lives up the title of the album, and you'd feel as if you are walking/living in techni-colour. Mika shows off his voice in this very first track hitting each high note with precision.
3) My Interpretation - Angst and attitude packed into pretty relaxed melody. Ironical, but lovely.
6) Any Other World - Thoughtful and definitely well arranged piece. Being the slowest piece performed in this album, Mika serenades you with his voice. The lyrics of this song captivates you as it's being dished out by Mika. My only complain is that this song sticks out like a sore thumb in terms of the sequencing.
