In the entertainment circle, I have many friends. We are not only mere acquaintances, but friends who helped each other to improve.
Each day, after work, playing with friends is one of my way of de-stressing, and to get rid of all the accumulated 'toxin' in my system. Just by talking to them, they give me the strength to start again.
Like Jay, he is my good friend. His favorite sentence is,"Can you sleep beside me tonight?" Don't think too much to it. The main reason is because Jay is like a little boy, timid and afraid of ghost..... (MacDawn's note: really???? Sure.......) A little wind movement will have him calling me, wanting me to sleep beside him. Mainly because he is afraid of sleeping alone!
I had known Jay before he released his first album. I had entered the circle, but he was still working behind the screen, writing songs. I was working with Jacky Wu on a movie (Two and a Half Detective), and had met Jay, but we had never talked. One day, while I was filming, he was playing basketball. I like to play basketball also, so I went up to him, and asked to play with him. We played together very often and gotten familar, but we had only chatted on the basketball court, but had never exchange phone numbers.
Another time, I met him again, on my friend's birthday party. After chatting, we realised out tone matched, and so we exchanged our phone numbers. Since then, we had always gone out together, shopping, or playing basketball. He is very good with music, and i am good at dancing, so we started exchanging knowledge. He taught me to play the piano, to write songs, and I teach him how to dance.
Praising Each Other and Striving for Improvement
When I managed to write my first song, Jay heard it, and said,"Not bad, Almost the same standard as my first song!" (I should think this is a compliment?) Following that, I written several songs, and he commended that I had improved very fast.
But, unfortunately, Jay's had maintained his dancing standard since the first day he started, not much of improvement. I had told him to start from the basics, and then go slowly into street dancing, but he refused. So, our 'teaching and learning together' plan had reached a bottle neck. Frankly speaking, Jay's improvements in his dancing are not really apparent, but at least when we argue often, and he has improved significantly in his manner of expression.
Even up till the present, Jay and I still play basketball together very often. The places where we play include, the gymnasium at Zhong Liu, the court beside Ming Shi Boulevard, or the court at Zhang Luo Jun (MacDawn's note: another Taiwanese singer.... he belonged to the ancient boygroup Hong Hai Er) Everytime we were on the court, we would meet many basketball friends. We can be untied when we play, but as artistes, we had to be defensive. So, if they wanted our phone numbers, we would tell them it is not convienent to give it them. But if they wanted our autograph, we do not mind.
Loser strips at the entrance of SOGO
Jay and I like to compete, and we compete at anything and everything, and c
o
mpletely enjoyed competing. Sometimes, we would compete to see who could sigh more autograph at the court. When I have more viewers to root for me, I would win, when he has his fans rallying around
, he would win. Once, after we competed, Jay made a crazy bet...
Jay: "Since we want to bet, let's make it a big one, we go to the SOGO department store, and compete to see who signs more autographs. The loser shall strip at the entrance!"
Piggy: "Alright! You dare say it, I will do it, but would you dare?"
Jay didn't expect Piggy to agree so readily, and hence, in front of all those present, Jay had to swallow his words, and make a rapid retreat. Nobody mentioned that crazy bet again.
Once we competed to see who is more popular
Jay:" I am the R&B prince!"
Piggy:"I am the variety show prince!"
Draw on the first round.....
Jay:"Young people like my music!"
Piggy:"I am suitable for the young and the old!"
Draw on the second round.....
Jay:"I am also famous in Hong Kong!"
Piggy:"I have fans in Japan!"
Draw on the third round.....
So we went on, vying through the night, till 4am in the morning, almost dropping in exhuastion. Then, a half-asleep Jay suddenly reached a conclusion. "I know, we have different areas of influence. The next time you come to Hong Kong, I will take care of you!"
I also peered at him, through my half-droop eyes. "That right! When you come to Japan, I will also help you!"
Thus ends our popularity competition....

The Variety Prince revealed all the hardship, tears and blood of the entertainment circle, and even 'betrayed his friends'!
"I compete with Jay over every and anything. Sometimes we would compete to see who gave more autographs, or who can play the computer games better. The one who lost will have to make ugly faces. Once, Jay lost, and under my lecherous commanding, he had to bite a sock between his teeth, while I pulled his cheeks from behind him. I turned the R&B prince's face into a wrinkle-faced monster. And to talk about the most crazy thing we did, it would be the night when we checked into a hotel together......."
