Well... Mandarin is the "official" language in China though I have more Cantonese friends than Mandarin friends...

I'm sticking with Mandarin because I speak it. =^.^=

i actually think there are more canto people. well, there used to be, until the recent boom in mainland china ppl moving here, as opposed to people from hong kong.

I know that in Melbourne, cantonese is more popular, especially in places like Box Hill. But I talk mixed canto, mandarin and a touch of viet to my friends. It makes sense to us, but everyone else just thinks we're crazy.

Although i speak mando myself, there are more canto please here, as most pepole from china are from the wouth, which speaks canto, and heaps of malaysians and singaporeans can speak canto, so yea.

:wacko: couldn't vote, because I've never been to Australia, so I don't know. My thought is that Mandarin is still number 1, because that's the main Chinese language, and so most of the people that are Chinese speaks Mandarin. I mean some might speak more Cantonese, but they will still know Mandarin.

umm i chose canto just cos i'm canto haha
my parents are from hong kong even though i was born here, so we speak canto at home and i'm picking up mandarin now cos i've been watching dramas and almost all my uni friends speak mandarin

atm I say canto just but there are more people from the mainland now so I think mando will overtake it in the future.
