I think posting this in our Concert/Music Discussions (http://www.jay-chou.net/forums/viewforum.php?f=22) forum, would be better? :wink2:

I haven't been on any Jay concert  but I do have a couple of concert experiences to base advices with.

Usually cameras and video recorders are not allowed. You can verify this by looking at your ticket. Most of the time it's specified there. If you're doubtful whether to bring a camera/recorder, don't hesitate and call the event's production management and ask for details about the concert. :yeah:

I think at times like this, camera mobile phones would come in handy.:wink2: But these cameras don't often have zoom so the quality of your pictures depends on how close you are to the performer.

For starters, on concerts, it's always handy to bring bottled water and money for extra expenses + good wits and patience.

Hope this would help. And you are so lucky that Jay would be performing in your area! You'll be able to see him live :D....

I hope he comes here too....:depresse:

Hmmmm...Kahel said most of the things already!!
Oh ya!! Remember to go to the toilet before the concert starts! If not...I don't think you can enjoy the concert..( I think everyone should know..)

Actually cameras are not allowed...but I brought it and took quite a few pics..

I don't have much experience when it comes to watching live concerts, i've only been to jay's and david's when they were here in malaysia. :) unfortunately, i didn't have my camera phone by then, otherwise i would have snap a couple of pictures as rememberance no matter how bad the quality is.. (talk about being desperate) but yeah, there you have it, all the things you should prepared for by kahel and miss_gun, nothing else i supposed.. oh and one more thing you must definately do... that is to have a great time there!

what about sth like this :welcome: (i dont know it's called in english, can anyone tell me?). i've never been to concert but i 've seen in the one concert cd, there're some ppl bring this thing to the concert writing his name on it or country they're from. so maybe i will make one for myself but i still do not know what to write down  . writing his name would be simple but i will write it if i finally cannot come up with sth better than that. actually i want to be more creative. can anyone help me think about this? :helpme: and i should write in Chinese, right? maybe i should write jay's fan from jay-chou.net eiei... one more thing i think i will bring fluorescent wristlet or sth like that. so jay can see my small tiny hand among the crowd.

I think you can bring a camera if you want but it depends on how tight security is. The last couple of times I went to a concert nobody really cared if you bought a camera or not, they only cared if you bought in stuff like glass bottles or drinks that have been opened before. But I'm pretty sure you're not allowed to bring in a video recorder. And Kahel has pretty much answered your questions. So have fun, your so lucky to have Jay perform live in your area.

hmm..I recommend you not to bring a camera, just in case if the security guards take it away or something and that would be bad.
You can bring glowsticks right? Those are always neat and glowsticks "glow" and maybe you can get Jay's attention..heehee..But you can make a board or something and write his name on it.. But it should stand out..just like what angel_numberone said.
Kahel, already covered everything, so have fun at Jay's concert and tell us all about it once you get back from it!
If you ever get the chance...maybe you can tell Jay to go to a wonderful website called Jay-Chou.net! :wink2:
Hope Jay comes to California again!

Bring the camera anyway but keep it in the bag until the concert start. Look around if anybody else take pics, chances are it's "allowed".
Create Jay's name with glowstick, you'll stand out in the dark , don't use such big board as you'll cover other ppl's view --> I saw it in Singapore concert, Jay always turn to that side !.
And why not bring whistles - that + screams are really cheering up the concert !.
Have fun !

I'm bringing my camera, I don't care what the hell they say. If they try to take it from me, I'll kill them!

I recommend: Just bring your flash stick and take care of your good voice (to shout).... Don't bring anything big or heavy, even bag... You have to feel FREE in the concert...

i recommend bring a camera.. it's not like musicals or plays where the specifially say you cannot bring one.. also if you're sitting very far away make sure you're camera has a good flash or not the photos will not come out at all.. (that's what happened to me )

other tips:
drink lots of water
bring light sticks
train stamina so you can stand long enough
learn all of Jay songs so you can sing along!

haha and of course post-concert you should come here and share your experience and hopefully some pics!!

Yeah, I think you should bring a camera. Better bring it, cause Jay's concert is kinda rare to happen in Thailand. Of course you don't want to regret later for not bringing your own camera. Don't forget to bring extra film-rolls.
I think all the basic tips are already mention....

Oh yeah, one last thing, Bring Your Friends...!!!! Hehehe...I'm sure you don't want to be alone there...but I assume that you bring along some of your friends too.

Have fun! Don't forget to share your pics here too...

other tips:
bring light sticks
learn all of Jay songs so you can sing along!

Yap I totally agree with dazzlette especially on the tips on bringing the light sticks and learning all of Jay songs!! I still remember vividly how much fun I had when I went to Jay's the one concert, the light sticks were so fun and you can sway your lightsticks in the air while singing Jay's songs!! Its so fun, the scene will be very beautiful with lightsticks glowing round the stadium and the atmoshpere will be so great with tons of people singing along with Jay and waving the lightsticks...ahhh the beautiful memories....

By the way, if it is possible, take a camera with a "fast shutter" erm.. not sure how to put it. This is because the last time I went, i took a normal camera and all the pictures came out BLURRED!!!! I was so disappointed!! I wasted about 3 rolls of films and only a few pictures came out clear. Those pictures which came out clear are those where Jay did not have any rapid movements. Later my friend told me that it was due to the shutter speed because if your shutter speed is slow, the image will come out blurred if you are taking a moving object. Sigh.. I have learnt my lesson...

And another thing is hopefully someone which are not so into Jay will accompany you because you will be too busy 1) waving your lightstick 2) singing along with Jay 3) screaming and shouting at Jay and you find yourself having a hardtime handling these 3 things simultaneously while taking photos, this happened to me too, I was like struggling to take photos of Jay and waving lightsticks!! :glug: So the second night, I asked one of my friends who is not a crazy fan of Jay to take photos for me and man I enjoyed screaming, waving the lightsticks and singing with Jay the whole night!!! :D

Oh.. light sticks.. Last time I also went to the The One concert in Singapore and my mum bought a pair of multi coloured lightsticks..

Arghh speaking of cameras, I regret so deeply that I did not bring the digital camera... the ticket states that no cameras are allowed, but when the concert started, flashes started coming out from the seats so I think that camera is a must..

Dring some herbal tea the day before to have a soothing throat for shouting and screaming... hehe.. I did that too...

I can give u some ideas!!
I only had one experience on meeting Jay which was on the "The One" which was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on May on this year!! :yeah:
I think u shud prepare a good and handy camera!! and....at least two rolls of films please..let me tell u...u cannot resist taking photographs one u are there!!!
U can also buy some gifts like maybe teddy bear or cap..and call the assistant to help u pass to Jay..and if u r not so lucky, while performing u can just throw them on the stage and if he picks up...u r darn lucky!!!! I did that before but...(i dunno what is the status of that red cap now) anyway..if u bring flowers..i mean that kind of big bouquet one...and make one of the assistant help u give him or put on the stage..he definitely will respond to it and might hold that flower along the current song...!!! wow..ghee...
I think that i am going crazy about this...although i am living in Malaysia and is not attending this concert...so have fun and hope u can get closer to me..(depending on which seat u r supposed to be) I was at the front row!!!!!! :excited: Err...am i over exaggerating here...okok...STOP!! :?

That is all i have to say and enjoy the concert as much as i did ok???? :)

i dunno..i'd bring my digital video camera no matter wat...and maybe get a plain cap n embroider it urself, if u're good at sewing... ,maybe he'd take a liking towards it and wears it~~~ wah...*dreaming* teddy bears... with little hidden messages in chinese...if u really wanna impress him, slip in a recorded tape to tell him how much you love him... and how much his music has changed the world and well, you know. if u're good at his songs, record urself singing it! flowers? nah, they wilt fast...get sumthing he'll be able to keep forever...okie?

i kno the ticket to the one in LA, says NO CAMERAS, etc... but THATS THE WHOLE PURPOSE! to take pics of jay and sing along with him. i think regular cameras are ok, cos c'mon that will just ruin it. cos isnt the point to not allow people to record jays' concert and sel lit.

but wha tif i do bring my camera, wil they take it away? cos they hav a right to check your stuff

hmm for the upcoming concert in Singapore, the ticket states that cameras are not allowed, but ugh the other time at The One concert I was worried that my camera would be taken away too and that would be horrible if it happens! But heyhey, when the show started, I saw flashes, not only from where the media is seated, but also the sides, the seats for fans like you and I!!

so hmmm, i might just sneak in my digi cam. pah, i want the memories! But if not, I guess just by living in the moment and enjoying yourself, singing along with Jay and screaming WO AI NI JIE LUN, and standing up, shouting for an encore, you'll be bringing home loads of wonderful memories too. :excited:

And of course, do prepare for the concert by learning his songs! And other from that, like what the other posts said, take care of your voice and rest well before the concert, you'll be having some serious singing aloud to do!!
(Goodness, i think i'll be kindof tired by the concert cos I'll be having some activities in school but the adrenaline then, wow, it'll defintely make me get really high. heh.)

Oh yes, about lightsticks. The other time I bought mine outside before going into the stadium for the concert. About making banners, I suggest you don't make tooo huge ones cos you'll be blocking the others' view of Jay... But if you are making one, make sure it can be seen in the dark!! Attention grabbing, so Jay will see it. (:

So, all the best. Have lotsa fun at the concert!!
Oh Jay!

i've never been to any of jay's concert. but one thing that i think you should prepare is...MEMORIZE ALL THE LYRICS~~~~~~~~~~~ that's what jay wishes us fans to do! =P

LSS
11-11-2004, 05:19 AM
yah.. memorising lyric comes first because it would be a lot more fun singing with Jay. But its hard memorising those rap song..hehe
Last year concert .. camera was not allowed during the concert. The security guard keep asking ppl to put down their digital camera or camera phone. They should allow us to bring.. but i dont think they will take it away if u bring. Mayb they scared those taking pictures/video will make pirated vcd of the concert.. haha :)

Well, from the point of the HK concert of Jay held recently, everyone was flashing their cameras like mad... so I dun really know.
In the US, I think they allow you to bring cameras, but I think Jay might be a special case this time. I doubt there even will be the red cross fallin' down the stage part in Eastern US, because I went to that arena before for Richie Jen's concert, and all of the fancy stuff he shown in HK weren't there at all! It's more or less like a personal concert kinda thing, and that may or may not be a good thing... heh heh.
But the most strange thing was, they didn't allow us to bring water... and they were forcing us to get drinks from the arena... strange casino policy?!

nycgirls, so do you think they will let fans bring camera in to Jay's concert at Mohegan Sun? 'cause I think I may be going (depends on if I can get tickets) and I definitely want to bring my digital camera if I go.
Yea, and about the red cross that Jay had in HK. I LOVE THAT. ooooh, how I wish Jay can do that at Mohegan Sun...*sigh*

Duh..

OK,this was my entry for the 5th Incomparable JCNET fan contest.
I've been longing for Jay to come to Manila and have a concert here.
This is how I'll prepare for a Jay Chou concert IF he'll ever come to visit
the Philippines and stage a concert for his Filipino fans:

Excited. :excited: Exuded. Exultant.

These were the emotions that I felt the moment that I learned from MTV Philippines that Jay Chou - yes,Jay Chou! :shiny: - is going to have a concert in Manila. I felt the sweat coming out of my body  because of mixed emotions. The astounding sensation stayed with me for about a couple of minutes.

I can hardly imagine the fact that my favorite and longed for artist would finally perform for me and my fellow fanatics. Never in my wildest dreams  had I thought of catching a short glimpse of Jay and seeing him perform live right before my eyes.

At last! The chance that I had been waiting for finally came. "This is it!,"I thought. "It's just now or never,"I told myself.

I shuttered. My reflexes nearly got paralyzed that I couldn't speak :locked: nor make faces. :? And with the highly anticipated concert playing around inside my head, I simply went reminiscing.

I can still recall the very first time I saw him on TV courtesy of the Yi Fu Zhi Ming music video that caught me by surprise, left me in awe, and converted me into a true-blue Jay Chou enthusiast that I am now today. I never knew that Jay Chou exists, not in this world of sarcastic artists and fake talents. I can barely remember his name and the title of that awesome music video way back then. I discovered Jay by mid-August, 2003,I think. By that time, I was still preoccupied by the tension and pressure of upcoming exams in school. The attention that I was giving to my studies was unaccountable. And besides, who would want to know a Taiwanese R&B artist when you already have the foundation of equally talented artists - the likes of Britney Spears, Usher, Justin Timberlake, Avril Lavigne and Blue. I had no idea that Jay is already this big even before I knew him. I never had known him yet until his wonderful music videos were repeatedly being aired in various music channels. Being a couch potato, I remain glued in front of the TV set, crossing my fingers (and toes!) that another Jay song would be played. I constantly switched channels for every music program in various Asian TV networks on our cable TV, hoping that I will see another Jay MV and hear another pleasant Jay song. It made me patronize Chinese TV stations because of that.

Well,I stopped reliving the moments before and at last, I finally got to my own senses again after long minutes of silence and pure imagining. And then, I got to realize the hardships that I have to go through just to buy a single ticket. I wanted to see him live and I'm really eager to watch the concert. The moment I made my decision, I assured myself that this time, I'm unstoppable and no one could ever, ever interfere with me. :nunchuks:

I spent the night thinking and preparing what I would bring in the concert proper. I even did a schedule - from what time I would fall in line just to get the best seat (not knowing the policies then ) and who among my friends would I bring that night. I made a detailed preparation in my mind and those things kept me smiling like a mentally retarded person. I went to sleep with Jay's face still registered on my mind.

And the next day came. I was exactly a month before the concert! :excited: I barely touched my food that morning and I kept on daydreaming! I was so busy thinking how I could buy a single ticket. :worry: I thought of the possible ways to earn money. I wanted to be seated in the front row so I could get a closer view of him. But to my surprise, the price of the front row seat tickets are worth a whopping 10,000 pesos! (It's approximately equivalent to about US $200) With my meager allowance,I can't afford that so I preferred to go for the one priced at 5,000 pesos (about US $100). :boxed: I wanted to have the money I needed as soon as possible but I don't want to ask for financial support from anybody because it is a personal decision and I definitely don't want to add up to my parents' pile of burdens. I'm such a good son,am I not? :harhar:

At last,I finally thought of ways! And so I planned not to spend a single centavo on unnecessary materials. I insisted not to but anything so I can save more money from not not touching my daily allowance. I learned to be thrifty when it comes to expenses. I chose cheaper materials for my projects and I avoided eating my favorite junk foods for a while. I've also decided not to photocopy the books and things related to my studies because I could just read them in the library or have them borrowed for a week. Moreover,I insisted myself not to go expensive restaurants, watch movies nor attend gigs for that time period, until the concert is over. I did all the 'not-so-lavish' things' so to speak. I was being thrifty alright. I had to buy the ticket. A ticket worth five thousand pesos would not be as easy as anyone would think to have especially for a student of a public high school. It was not an easy task to do, at least not for me.

The first few days were kind of hard for me but I got used to the practice. The hardships were rewarding especially when I get to imagine going to the concert. The savings started from a few 50-peso bills until it accumulated and turned into hundreds.

And voila!!! I counted the money one Friday afternoon the moment I got home from school. Guess what? :hmm: It was worth 6,500 pesos, way more than I expected! :D

I was ready for the next step. The money was enough - enough for me to go to the concert and just right for me to get a cab home. :wink2: I wanted the best seat at the concert just to see Jay at a very close yet cozy range, not knowing that the ticket number specifies where your seat is. :bleh:

It was five days before the concert. I phoned a friend and asked for company to the concert. She told me that she would think about it. And after my persuasive urges, she agreed. She was pretty much convinced and satisfied with my reasons. Of course, I told her a lot of good things about Jay! :brows:

We had so much plans and everything was falling into place when an unexpected thing happened. When everything seemed perfect, it was when the conflict arrived.

We went to buy the 5000-peso ticket when the lady at the ticket booth told us that all the tickets were actually sold out! All of a sudden, everything went black as if I was blind. I was completely flabbergasted  All I could say was "Thank you" in a squeaky and shivering voice. :sadangel: I felt angry, :ranting: disappointed, embarrassed :bang: and depressed :depresse:at the same time.

I went home with a face that has never been seen before by anyone. :dead: :ill: I spoke to the heavens,"Oh,God,I was ready for anything but not this one" But I never gave up. :shiny: I left home in a haste and went hunting for available tickets and Thank God! He granted my prayers! :lolabove:

This time,I went home very, very happy :lolabove:  :D: as if I won the lottery. I counted down the days to the much awaited Jay Chou concert.

Nights and days passed and finally, the day has come! :excited: We arrived early at the venue that exciting evening. Me and my friend got good seats; not in the front row though but I still managed to get a nice view of the stage - probably about 20 meters away from the stage! :wink2: The people were screaming at the top of their lungs so me and my friend joined in the frenzy! We kept on screaming aloud while waiting for Jay to come onstage and entertain us the whole night. :yeah: And then,a silhouette appeared from the far back of the stage. The screams grew louder! The roars and shrieks were defeaning! And then the shadowy figure walked closer to the stage. This time it was unstoppable! :excited: I was sweating  in excitement and ecstacy when I heared my mother's voice: "HEY,WAKE UP! ARE YOU STILL DAYDREAMING?!?"

Damn it!!! It was just another fantasy! A figment of my imagination! :bleh:

How I wish that the first half of this story will come true...
that Jay will come to the Philippines and perform for us... :worry:

i kno this topic is a little bit old..butt i think you can bring a camera to some places..like some of the other folkz said, depends on security..like i brought a camera to a linkin park concert...they were puttin us through the metal detector and i wuz like awe mang!!! then, they scanned me with that hand held scanner thing...he asked what that wuz in meeh pocket..n i wuz like a camera..butt he let me go bcuz it was a disposable camera...i guess no digital cameras where you can zoom in...no matter how tight, SOMEBODY ALWAYZ manages to sneak one in...i hope you guyz talk more about this topic if you can

because im really looking forward to seeing one of his concerts next year in LA...at least that's what i've heard of him performing next year..i dont know...

I'm curious. Can we bring gifts? If we do how do we give it to him? Coz I'm going to the ShangHai one this year and originally some one was gonna take me back stage to get his autograph but I don't know that person and vice versa so it'll be hard to find me.

Well, here's how I'm preparing for the concert.

1. No make up on face - I think that the heat will be extreme at concerts so if you wear makeup it will melt.
2. Fashionable clothes. Going shopping on the day of the concert.
3. Lightsticks.
4. Learn and sing along.
5. Camera is a must. I will kill anyone who tires to touch it.
6. They told me that there aren't any dance areas in the ShangHai stadium which is a shame coz if there I was I'd try to go as close to the stage and reach my Hands up to touch him.

Other ones..hmm..let's just say I wanna save a few more for myself.

just bring you camera anyway.. what i did it actually put it in my pants :P okay, that sounds totally disgusting, but its not like i stuffed it all the way down there, i just kinda snuggled it at the waist part and put my shirt over it so no one can see it. or if you have a girl going with you, have her put your camera in the purse [cuz you'll totally regret if you dont bring you camera] but put it in one of the compartments of the purse since the guards look in purses too.
