I looked around and I'm quite surprised no one has started a thread on him yet! I think he's definitely one of the most talented singer-songwriters out there today who has his own distinct style, and I absolutely love him. I tried googling to find more info on him, but he still doesn't seem to be quite that popular yet, which is a shame. The best thing abou him, is his truly soulful voice. The way he sings just draws you into his music.
Let me try to do an intro (couldn't find much):

I've uploaded "This Love" here (http://www.jay-chou.net/forums/showthread.php?p=754779#post754779).
I only started listening to him a couple of months ago even though I've heard of him long before. I've only had a chance to listen to This Love so far, and I've been listening on repeat forever now. I would recommend songs, but they're all excellent.
So, does anyone else love Khalil?

I've heard a few of his songs, but they didn't really captivate me ><" or maybe I wasn't quite listening to them properly or haven't heard his greatest creations.
Any recommendations then? Because he sounds pretty cool.
And I think he wrote a song for Fiona Sit? I've heard that one before =) it's not bad I think
Wait..just read the last bit of your post, jay_is_cute xD saying that they're all excellent!

Oi, I totally forgot that I created this thread!
yayableu: have you checked him out yet? :wink2:
ll.jj: hmm, from the second album, i definitely recommend "love love love (ai ai ai)", "si ren you," (which is a duet with fiona sit), and "goodbye melody rose." "if you leave me now" is a remake, but the way he sings it is soooo addictively...check out those songs!
i guess his music takes some time to get used to sometimes...which ones have you heard so far?
if you guys want i can upload the album for you to sample if you haven't done so already! just post!
aw, there's so little response, there must be more khalil lovers out there!

hmm interesting!!! soul music? i never really understood what thats like...could someone elaborate a bit ?
to be blatantly honest, i hate fiona sit. no talent round faced short hong kong girl. not that i have things against no talent round faced short hong kong girls in general, but its the way she tries to sing and also act...the thing that pissed me off the most was love undercover 3. why the*** is she just standing there with a crazy smile on her face.
sorry for the spaz. i wouldnt mind listening to this guy!! *after someone can explain soul to mee*

i'm back posting here again xDDD
lolz thanks for the recommendations jay_is_cute, i'll check them out soon =D!
i've heard of 'wo men neng bu neng' and some others but don't remember the song titles
i don't really know how to explain soul, chris...but um..kind of smooth music if that made sense..or from what i hear from the songs anyway. someone correct me if i'm wrong x\

Hey guys, I've uploaded the latest album here (http://www.jay-chou.net/forums/showthread.php?p=754779#post754779)! I really hope you guys will like it!
kirasuran: i actually really hated fiona sit as well. i thought she was soooo annoying, and like you said, a plain looking no-talent. but she sounds great in the duet. i was surprised when i first heard her.
as for soul, i'm not sure how to explain, but khalil is more r&b than soul. just give it a listen. :wink2:

Hey! thanks for the upload!
i like 爱爱爱 (love love love) [downloaded off a site instead of your upload just to see if i'd like it or not] so i guess i'll check out the other songs very very soon!
*raises hand* another Khalil lover here!!!
it's sad that Khalil can't be more popular/can't go really mainstream in HK because he sings in Mandarin, as opposed to say, Justin Lo. but Mandarin will be a very good advantage for him when he makes his music known in Taiwan (which is happening now) as well as China, Singapore, Malaysia and the rest of the world.
Was also wondering if anyone here has his debut album, soulboy? been looking for it for awhile now, but can't seem to find it.
Below is an interview he had with squat magazine,3 February 2007
squat magazine khalil Q&A (http://www.squatmagazine.com/article.php?articleId=117&issueId=4)
Khalil Fong is one of the hottest singer-songwriters that the far east has ever produced. Fong tells Squat's Weng Yu that the sound on his sophomore album This Love is much closer to the sound in his head.
Weng: Not much is known about your background. Where are you from?
Khalil: I was born in Hawaii and lived in Shanghai and Guangzhou. I have been living in Hong Kong for the last ten years.
W: How did you end up making music in Hong Kong?
K: I had been writing music and approached a few record labels. It took about five years to finalize a contract with Warner Music but it was worth the wait.
W: Do you speak Cantonese?
K: Yes…along with English and Mandarin.
W: What instruments do you play?
K: Since my father is a drummer, there was always music playing around the house and so I picked up the drums at an early age. When I was five my parents took me to see the movie La Bamba—it was the defining moment that fueled my passion for singing.
W: When did you first start getting into music?
K: Since I was in the womb?
W: Who were your favourite artists, and how did they influence your own musical style?
K: Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Steely Dan…I could fill a page. Their music is always filled with different elements and doesn't have limitations. Most importantly, it also speaks to the heart.
W: You're based in Hong Kong. Why do you record in Mandarin and not Cantonese?
K: Mandarin is my second language, Cantonese is my third. The former is also more poetic and elegant.
W: You didn't exactly burst on to the scene, but your reputation and fame has grown considerably over the past year. What's been the best thing about being a famous artist?
K: Being able to do live shows. There's always a surprise around the corner and it's always cool to improvise.
W: Are there any drawbacks to being a celebrity?
K: There isn't much personal time. And since I write and produce my own music, it's even more time consuming. Other artists can afford to take some time off whereas I have to keep the studio running behind the scenes.
W: In Hong Kong there's been a recent shift in tastes away from the commercial artists and towards singer-songwriters such as yourself, Justin Lo and Ivana Wong. Why do you think this has happened?
K: The record companies have been reusing the same formula for the last ten years, which has led to a stagnant music industry. The new generation of audiences are getting sophisticated, smarter and more selective of what they listen to. It's great that a new trend is in the making even if it is a gradual process.
W: Taiwan has now become the trendsetter in Chinese music, churning out a constant steam of talented artists. How do you think the Taiwan music industry compares to the one in Hong Kong?
K: To me they are similar… Taiwan has high production standards but I think the music has become quite formulaic in recent years. Hong Kong has Canto Pop. I wouldn't say these are bad…just uninteresting. If the labels started to support and bring in different genres it would be much more diverse and I believe we would develop new market niches.
W: Traditionally, Chinese artists haven't been able to produce quality r'n'b, apart from ballads. Why do you think this is?
K: If they were only exposed to r'n'b later in life then the chances are they wouldn't have that inner groove and understanding of such harmonies which are critical for authentic or quality r'n'b.
W: Congratulations on This Love. What were your aims for this album, and how would you compare it to Soulboy?
K: Thanks! I hope people keep buying it… I put a lot of effort and heart into this album. If it doesn't sell then maybe you won't be hearing from me anytime soon. Soulboy was an educational experience which I am personally not satisfied with. This Love is a big leap and is much closer to the sound in my head.
W: Out of all the songs you've written, which is your favourite?
K: I don't have favorites. There's a song for every mood.
W: Will you ever do a song in English?
K: In This Love I recorded a cover of Chicago's "If You Leave Me Now". Check it out sometime.
W: Many singers in Hong Kong often go down the acting route as well. Will we be seeing you on the screen sometime soon?
K: It would be fun but I have no idea if I'll get that chance. I'm no Brad Pitt or George Clooney.
W: What's the one thing you can't live without?
K: Food, Water, and music.

hey lene , thanks for typing all that out (and translating)!!!
that actually is really interestin!!!
well, i think ill DL this and see how i like it...if i do ill buy it!!
but firstly i must wait till my NEW BROKEN MP3 player gets fixed. then i shall have space enough to upload!
no need to thank me kirasuran, the interview was actually done in English already :wink2:
Khalil is quite intelligent and opinionated -- in a good way -- don't you think?
ll.jj
05-23-2007, 08:16 AM
hi lene! thanks for the interview, rather interesting, since i'm not too familiar with khalil
talented, but i'm not sure about the opinionated part since yeah, as i said before, not quite familiar with him just yet lol
jay_is_cute
05-24-2007, 04:08 AM
thanks for the the interview, lene! i agree he sounds sophisticated, which makes him really sexy. (ha! i hope that's not weird.) i knew most of the stuff in the interview already, but i like reading his responses anyway.
the thing about him that i like most is that he's more concerned with making good music than about fame or popularity, unlike most other mainstream artists today. i'm glad he continues to have inspiration to write great songs.
actually i've been searching for soulboy as well, but haven't gotten it yet. i heard it was a very good album as well. i might just end up buying it first.

man , this guy definitely fits the description of HK jay chou.
and he even sounds like david tao in some songs...without listening carefully i could hav gotten them mixed up!
2 thumbs up for khalil! does anyone know why his name is khalil anyway? its a strange name for an asian.
I finally got my hands on khalil's two albums. On my way back home from China, I stopped over Hong Kong for a few days. Of course, khalil's albums were #1 in my shopping list!
I loved "Soul Boy" but I think I like "This Love" better; the songs in the 2nd album just sounded more refined... not sure if that's the right word for it. I also hope he gets to work with more lyricists because I feel that for some of his songs, the lyrics don't give justice to the beautiful melodies... or maybe I'm just expecting songs with a Fang Wen Shan/Jay feel and quality to them.
to answer your question kirasuran, here's another short Q&A with Khalil from BC Magazine, HK Feb 25, 2007
Soul Love
The very talented soul and R&B singer-songwriter Khalil Fong is giving us his first major live concert – finally. His second album, This Love, features collaborations with hip-hop duo Fama and pop sweetheart Fiona Sit. Though the soul boy is busy promoting the new album and preparing for the coming shows, he has already started writing new material for his third album, scheduled for release in August. We talk to him on various things.
Khalil on…
Rundown of the coming shows.
Songs from my two albums, some English covers by Stevie Wonder, Nat King Cole and Brian McKnight. Maybe some Ray Charles as well.
Being labelled the ‘Hong Kong Jay Chou’.
I understand why people say that. The audiences in Hong Kong say that because they don’t know much about R&B yet and there are only a few artists they can refer to, like Jay Chou and David Tao.
His favorite album at the moment.
John Mayer’s Continuum. Out of his three albums, he sounds most like Eric Clapton this time. His music is more mature than before and the tone is a bit sad.
A song he wishes was written by him.
Stevie Wonder’s Lately. The song is just so great. It is simple yet no one else has ever written anything like it.
His name, Khalil.
It means ‘friends’ in Arabic. My dad picked it up from a name book because he thought it was special.

This guy haven't 'hit' me yet but I love his cover of "If You Leave Me Now" I love his voice there and it actually reminds me Justin Timberlake haha.. but in a good way.
Other than that, I think he's kinda cute in a dorky way :-)

I really love his song Ai Ai Ai. He has a truly soulful voice and i love his voice so much!! Has potential!
His voice reminds me of Eason Chan too.. gah but i just love Khalil's songs. Repeating them everyday

I think Fang da tong is great! I love the way he makes the words and melody almost float when he performs. It's a shame that he isn't as recognized in Hk though.
I read somewhere before that his 3rd album will be released sometime in August... do you guys know when the exact date will be?
quadshock

Already? I feel like his last album wasn't released very long ago... how can someone pump out stuff so fast yet maintain such high quality?

08-20-2007, 04:04 AM
That's what I was also wondering. Maybe he's trying to draw more attention to his work. I've recently found a few other artists that don't get the attention that they deserve from the media. I imagine his new cd will be as good, if not better, than his last.

"This Love"
he is a very very talented singer, i bought his album.. while his looks and voice don't really match. But he really captivate me in his music.
i particularly like;
诗人的情人
苏丽珍
拖男带女
very different RnB from Jay & David, but it's really good.
2 Thumbs Up!
His "This Love Live" album was released late Aug; my cousin got me a copy when she went on a trip to HK in Sept. His live performance was just D-I-V-I-N-E!
Go grab a copy guys!

omg why is his thread dead?
HE IS SUCH A GREAT ARTISTE.
sigh, too much fei lun hai really spoils the music industry.
but nevertheless, his 3rd album . WONDERLAND is out already.
i'm not disappointed by it, although the time from 2nd & 3rd album may be a short one, the quality of the work is really sublime.
every single track is of such quality...

I really have to agree on that, no offence to FLH; they're great but don't have talent like Khalil.
I just have to say I'm IN LOVE with his new album WONDERLAND!!! All the songs are just LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!
I've been reading his blog and he seems like a humorous and down to earth guy. Wish I actually saw more of him in the media.
Have to find a way to get my hands on a real copy of his CDs

 I wish FLH's popularity will fade. Seriously lol. I love them but I don't want them to "snatch" Jay's throne? lol!
I actually like Khalil Fong's looks. He reminds me of Stephen Chow greatly.. Kinda nerdy cute type. His live singing is just AWESOME!! I wish he can get more attention

i'v only just discovered khalil (thanks to a friend who visited taipei last month and spent 3/4 of his trip glued to TW's MTV). initial thought upon listening to his first word - "WOW - another taiwanese music muso". thanx to mr. google, i now know that he now calls HK home. im surprise. all that aside.... i still can't get rid of his tunes and soothing voice out of my head. it's been a month now.... what a talent. what an underrated talent, i must add.
he should be pegged against the likes of JC, David Tao and the rest by now. pity it's taking him so long. a pure joy to listen to... you brisk past "wonderland" the album in a state of total elation before you know it's time to click "replay" again!!! can't wait to check out his previous albums - soul boy and this love.
discovering khalil reminded me of how i felt when i first heard khe ai nue ren by JC.
i wish Khalil'd get to where JC is now. and i sincerely hope that JC'd be able to bring back those feelings to some of his fans with his new material in future... it's been.... quite uninspiring of late :(

cool was watchin yubai and khalil said that he is a Bahá'í, you can read more about this religion here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bahai)..and just to let you guys know why i'm sharing that he's a Bahá'í is because of the following:
* Bahá'ís over the age of 15 should recite an obligatory prayer each day. There are three such prayers among which one can be chosen each day.
* Backbiting and gossip are prohibited and denounced.
* Adult Bahá'ís in good health observe a nineteen-day sunrise-to-sunset fast each year from March 2 through March 20.
* Bahá'ís are forbidden to drink alcohol or to take drugs, unless prescribed by doctors.
* Sexual relationships are permitted only between a husband and wife, and thus premarital or homosexual sex activity is forbidden.
* Gambling is forbidden.
pretty intense right? i never knew that about him!
EDIT: ok just to be certain and make things clear...i'm not trying to promote Bahá'í...i'm just sharing something i found out about him because i doubt anyone in the hk/taiwan/china entertainment industry is like him in that sense. so i hope no one gets offended or anything.

omgah I FINALLY opened my ears to his music after watching 2/27's YLBFB. I can't believe it took me so long to get around to listening to him!! I'm TOTALLY HOOKED. So far I'm loving "This Love" more than his other albums, but all three are reeeeally good <3 and I've heard "Mei Tian Mei Tian" before, but don't remember where. LOVE this song
and FSUTan, thanks for the factoids! When he mentioned his religion on the show, I was thoroughly confused because I'd never heard of it. I wonder how he learned about it and when he converted
I don't agree about the homosexuality one though :[
and also, if he can only take doctor-prescribed drugs, that means he can't take over-the-counter drugs??
cinsin
02-28-2008, 11:28 AM
And on top of all those restrictions...Khalil is a vegetarian. Gosh! No alcohol, no premarital sex, no drugs, no gambling and no meat :glug: It really is intense especially when he's in the entertainment industry, I wonder how he can resist :s
I'm so glad you finally listened to Khalil babyxv , you really have to listen to his other albums. You can really see his growth in music through them.

my fren mentioned bout him before, but i never bother, coz i'm not into HK singers, no offence coz i dun prefer cantonese songs...
but but, i just knew that Khalil sings in Chinese. and his songs are GOOD! his voice is so soothing, i'm been repeating playing his songs on my player.
love his voiceeee...

If anyone's interested in winning tickets to his concert you can enter this competition here:
http://www.warnermusic.com.hk/wonderland_concert
You have to write a simple romantic love story (a promotion of his new single) and Khalil himself will pick out the one he likes and you can win two tickets to his concert (I think it's his HK one).
Someone should write a story and win the tickets and invite me along :D

I love Khalil's "Wonderland." He didn't do too well on "Gong Yuan," but he did a better job with "Wei Lai," so he obviously can do well with a faster song. The lyrics are very fresh, his voice is very smooth, and I like the beat. I ended up doing a translation (http://jay-chou.net/forums/showthread.php?t=277313) for "Wei Lai." The lyrics are nice and positive. Way to look on the bright side of things!
His English comes off really nice. Did anyone else notice the Jay Chou reference in "Love Song"? ("This isn't a 'there's only the piano left' kind of song."=>"An Jing") There are a lot of references to other popular songs in that one song, including LeeHom's "Hua Tian Cuo" and D.T.'s "Pu Tong Peng You."

03-31-2008, 01:54 AM
^The lyrics for Wei Lai were written by FAMA which is probably why Khalil sang it as a faster song.
I thought Gong Yuan was a lovely song, it had a simple beat and melody which just makes you want to sing along.
I was watching an interview with him yesterday and it really bugs me that they keep asking about him and Fiona Sit. I wish they'd get over it and leave him alone. Look what happens when he finally comes out more to promote his music and all people care about is his love life -_-

Meh~I thought the beat to "Gong Yuan" was a bit too heavy, but I liked all of the other songs on that album. Maybe I'll warm up to it, though. What's FAMA? *Open mouth, insert foot* Sorry, I'm a complete noob when it comes to Asian music, since I only started listening last Summer. Please excuse my American-ness.
The MV for "Love Song" is so cute, with all the blue pianos!

I think he's just great.
His music is so simple, light, minimalistic.. I'm not really a lyrics person so I don't really pay attention to them much, my bad.
Is it me but do I find him still really underrated? He's become a bit more popular with Wonderland, but still not WOWOWOW star,, right? I'm oblivious to his status as I don't live in an asian country, but I still hear my friends from HK talk about him a lot. How is he doing?
OH and his concert, tonight right? 31/3?
cinsin
04-01-2008, 07:39 AM
^Yeah his concert was 30&31@HK and then he'll be in TW 1st April. So sad I missed the HK concerts :(
He's only underrated because that's how he chose to be. The interview I saw him on, he was saying that the competition is more fierce now (with the release of wonderland) in Asia (music wise) and so he's more open to promoting his music.
It was funny because he said he never liked to talk much in interviews before cuz he wanted to preserve his voice. :D

really??..FAMA wrote Wei Lai??..all i knew was they wrote the lyrics for "Simple is Romantic"
and they were also featured in "Ai!" in the 'Ai Ai Ai' cd....
ohoh..interesting fact...Kahlil also does TaiChi...Fama once said it in their raps :bleh:

actually all of them are!!..
SUPPORT HIM MAN,
his concert in TW has attracted alot of other artistes as well.

"gong yuan" is also one of my faves from wonderland as well, haha. the way he sings the verses is super SEXY!
i like all the songs from wonderland, but don't really listen to "jian dan zui lang man" because i can't stand the "sweetie pie" part he sings at the end of the choruses. i also don't really like the acoustic version of ai ai ai. I loved the remake of "chun feng chui" but the new ai ai ai is a bit too "free" sounding for me and i loved the original so much.
i'm glad he decided to promote more now, cuz he really deserves it. i've seen pics of him from his concert in HK and he looks so adorably dorky in his glasses as always!

I'm in heaven right now. My parents just bought me all of Khalil Fong's CDs and I spent my whole time reading lyrics and unwrapping them xD
Oh and just to confirm, Karen FAMA wrote lyrics for Wei Lai as well. So they wrote two songs for his third album :D
Bonnie: OMG I hate that "sweetie pie" part as well. I like the fact that he wears the framed glasses now instead of the aviator shades he sported earlier  Have you watched the fancams of his HK concert? He did the moonwalk! :bounce:

Thanks for the news! Maybe I can download it after it airs. I don't get any of this stuff in the U.S. Not fair! Anyways, I just ordered "Wonderland" this week. I'm trying to widen out my sad MandoPop collection, and Khalil is good.

I saw the MV for his duet with Fiona on Tudou.
It was pretty ordinary, I don't think I like the song that much. There are times I feel that either he was too pitchy or Fiona was too pitchy when they were singing the chorus.
I'm excited to see him on Mo Fang Bang Bang Tang though, I see he must be helping Fiona promote her album -_-

I don't really like Khalil and Fiona's new song.. I guess it's because he's taken the tune of another song - I just don't like it when songs do that...
I absolutely love his new album, especially tracks 1,2,4,5,7 and 9... and I agree, his acoustic version of Ai, Ai, Ai is a bit raw... and it sounds a bit out weird and yes, the 'sweety pie' bit of track 6 is a bit extra..
But overall, it's the hip-hop style that I like of him, no other HK artist has sung or produced R'n'B like he has or hasn't done it as well as him.

^ it's on 25 April 2008.
I certainly didn't expect that he could dance! LOL though I have to say his dance is like kind of weird. it's so long ago I can't really remember what had happened on MFBBT, but I do remember that he looked kind of bored and pissed at times. Guess he can't really accept the programme's exaggerated antics and all.

''AI AI AI!" OMO! Classic of his and probably the song that he's most well known for.
"Love Song", I would also recommend which is off his new album. But truthfully, I love all his albums. Any song will make you love him haha

What do you mean by better band? As in his live perfs? :?

A better band meaning the sounds from his music, everything besides the vocals which is him. So the guitarist, bass player, drummer/percussionist, the keyboard player and whatever.

But wouldn't that be up to who arranges his music? I'm sure the people that he works with are professionals and not some garage band. I personally do not see anything wrong with his "band".

okok whatever u say.. dang. I never intended this to become a debate..
I just think he could use a better band, as in what I like to see.
But the artist has the final decision on his band.

Whoever said Khalil needs a "better band"... I don't think so. I think everyone else needs a better band. Khalil marks the first time in a LONG WHILE that I've found the music is worth paying attention to, as far as mandarin pop music goes. Almost everything (that includes the Jay Chou, Leehom [whom I respect in many ways], Mayday, whatever) leaves soemthing to desire. Either the guitar is too technical and not enough soul, the drumming is too predictable, or the same freaking use of chords on acoustic guitars over and over again. Khalil is a bright light telling us that Cpop can be something other than karaoke tracks.
what a talent. what an underrated talent, i must add.
he should be pegged against the likes of JC, David Tao and the rest by now. pity it's taking him so long. a pure joy to listen to... you brisk past "wonderland" the album in a state of total elation before you know it's time to click "replay" again!!!
discovering khalil reminded me of how i felt when i first heard khe ai nue ren by JC. i wish Khalil'd get to where JC is now. and i sincerely hope that JC'd be able to bring back those feelings to some of his fans with his new material in future... it's been.... quite uninspiring of late :(
My sentiments, exactly. I'm very happy that his music is getting more attention now because he really deserves it. I hope next year, he finally gets to bring home a golden melody award because his music is just so damn good!!!
He says in his blog that he's coming up with a new album:
"I'm really rushing to complete my next album and also have some other work at hand...and tomorrow I fly again...aiyah.
Update you guys on details about the new album soon." (July 10, 2008)
So fast lah... but I'm excited already!!! :excited:

Khalil has a new English song out! Check out "Singalongsong" here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8afXUnATOGs). There's also going to be a Mandarin version according to YesAsia's tracklist for the new album, "Orange Moon." The tracklist is as follows:
01. Singalongsong (English)
02. 小小蟲 Xiao Xiao Chong/Little Bug
03. 1234567
04. 黑白 Hei Bai/Black and White
05. 如果愛 Ru Guo Ai/If Love
06. 黑洞裡 Hei Dong Li/In a Blackhole
07. 三人遊 San Ren You/Traveling Trio (Please recall "四人遊" from "This Love")
08. 每個人都會 (song for Cartier 'Love Project') Mei Ge Ren Dou Hui/Everyone Will (a.k.a. "Love in this World")
09. 100種表情 100 Zhong Biao Qing/100 Expressions
10. 愛我吧 Ai Wo Ba/Love Me
11. 為妳寫的歌 (Singalongsong 國語版) Wei Ni Xie De Ge/Mandarin Version of "Singalongsong" (Literally "A Song I Wrote for You")
The album is supposed to come out the 18th this month!
Has anyone seen this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKPp8Z8BscM&feature=related)? It's a Khalil and Fiona video, and at the end, they sing a remix of Jay's "An Jing" and "Hei Se You Mo." Khalil is awesome!
He's just awesome isn't he? He mentioned something about writing a song 'simple' enough for fans/people to sing along to at the karaoke because they've been complaining that his songs are too difficult. The song may be simple but it has its own character given Khalil's beautiful voice. I doubt if we could give justice to it if and when we belt it out at the karaoke. So you see, it's not really a sing-along song after all  hehe
the album will be out real soon! can't wait!!!
i think only his main hits are great. the others are meh~

Is it just me or does anyone else think Khalil's song Spring Breeze http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=3i96OMCGxpY sounds ripped off from Minnie Riperton's Loving You? I think he has a good voice, but am not too keen on most of his material. My Mum also calls him the Asian Elvis Costello, due to his slightly nerdy, old fashioned image. I don't mean that in a bad way though, because it makes him unique from other more modern singers.

I listened to this guy's CD and I think he is very good. I decided to buy it, because I had been looking for a new CD to buy. I would recommend him to anyone who is versatile in listening to different types of music.

He's on Channel V a lot these days. I had heard of him years back but never properly listened to his song until I saw the Red Bean MV on Channel V and I seriously fell in love. Totally adore his music and voice! XD
