I used to be a big fan when I was around 11 or 12. I still think he's cool, but I don't listen to his songs anymore. Actually, I think he's aged quite gracefully. I like his looks now better than when he had that awful wavy hair. I like him more as an actor now. I love his voice and style of singing, but I just don't like his songs anymore.

The only reason I pay attention to him is because he's one of the big stars in Hong Kong and some people say my brother looks like him. *gasps*
But, eh, well, let's just give him some credit for surviving this long in show business.
By the way, will he ever get married? 'Cause my mom is always asking me that question.
i dont think he is that great. i only like one song by him: Ai Ni Yi Wan Nian
vubt i think all the rest of 'em are kinda....BAD  isnt he really old?

I'm not a big fan of his but I've always thought he was a better singer than Aaron Kwok and Leon Lai. But he's definitely not as good as Jacky Cheung.

I agree with everything you just said vunsin. He definitely is better looking now than ever before. I actually think he's kinda cute in a way. Oh and for those of you who want to know his age he's around 42 years old.

The way you said it made it sound like you guys are a couple and your mom wants you guys to get married as soon as possible.
I guess the reason most of you don't like him is because he belongs to an older generation. :wink2: He's just too old for you. :wink2: Now I understand my mom's frustration when she tried to tell me which singers were really good and I just thought they were weird old people.

yea!! i love those movies too! what's magic kitchen about? when's it coming out? hehe
aww, it seems that not that many people in here like andy lau much.. i think he's just so cool! i think he's pretty handsome for an old dude.. haha. i think it's cuz of what some other people said though, that i grew up watching him in movies and stuff, so i think that's why I like him. I like a lot of his older songs, but I agree with others when they say jacky cheung is a lot better. (did someone say that?) oh well, that's what i think hehe.

He's 42 turning 23? Aiya! he's that old?!? I saw him on news just recently and he was wearing leather jacket and this hat (the kind Jay usually wear), so young looking.
He does have A LOT of movies, even starred in a few WOng Kar Wai films. :wink2:
Does he direct?:?

03-02-2004, 12:33 AM
Hehe I dunno about that, I'm pretty sure you can find it online somewhere. But isn't he directing Initial D?? Unless Andy Lau doesn't mean Andrew Lau. I'm pretty sure it's him though. pretty kool :)

you think so??? is it really the same guy...
but why would they change the name then????
that name of the song is...."I don't love you enough"
yummieboba
03-02-2004, 04:01 AM
thanks for the song title! I was thinking that andrew is just more formal for the name 'andy,' but i'm not sure, could be a completely different person. I've heard that andy lau directs though, not sure which movies!
wackycashew
03-02-2004, 04:35 AM
andy lau is not the same person as andrew lau. andrew lau is one of the guys who directed the Infernal Affairs series. andy lau is obviously the singer/actor. he probably has directed some movies or done some behind-the-scenes work since he's been in the industry for so long. i'm not sure which movies though. but just wanted to clarify that andy lau is not andrew lau. and andrew lau is the one who will be directing Initial D, not andy lau.

Ooh thanks for the info, wackycashew. Obviously did not know that. aww, kinda sad that it's not andy lau who's directing Initial D hehe. But I thought infernal affairs was directed well, hope Initial D will be too!

ya me also waiting so long for andy lau's album to be out, it's been 3 years since he released a whole new Chinese album, all thanks to his lawsuit. anyway saw him on "Yu Le Bai Fen Bai" yesterday, he is still so dashing. but he mentioned in 933 interview that there is still no plans of coming to singapore for promotion. how i wish all the artistes will come to singapore for promotion. we may be a small market but we all play a part in the sales too so they shd not neglect the market here.

well, i'm one of his fans so far.. for info that the last album 'all about love' has reach 1,2 million in asia, here is the news & pics
SOURCE: WEN WEI PO/TA KUNG PAO/THE SUN/OD?SING PAO/APPLE DAILY TITLE: ANDY IN TAIWAN FOR CELEBRATION The sale of Andy's latest Mandarin album Say I Love U One More Time exceeds a million 2 weeks after release. Total sale stands at 1.2 million. He flew to TW to hold a grand celebration party. He set his wish that the sale hits 2.5 mil at the party & announced that the cartoon version of Say I Love U One More Time will be out in Sept. The backdrop of the stage was a cartoon design. The cartoonist who came to draw him on the spot commented not only are Andy's eyes electrifying, his brain is full of electric power, it turns exceptionally fast, Andy is the most terrific person he has ever met.
Andy crushed the million ice sculpture & brought Taiwanese summer desert mango ice cream to thank the media. he drank fresh milk, but it was so sweet that he squirted out, v comical!
It is the first time his album was being handled by East Asia, boss Peter Lam took time off to the celebration, said he, "Since the establishment of East Asia gp, this is the first time album sale hit a million! This is the first collaboration, Andy has set a record for us, hope his result continues to soar, & set a good record! " Andy said he is extremely happy with the result, as everyone knows album sale in the market has plunged over the years. After the album release, 48 radio stations world wide is broadcasting the drama bearing the same title, in Sept, a cartoon will be out. He had seen the cartoon drawing yesterday, he said actually there are many different styles of cartoon for him to choose, he chose one that resembles him the least, as he does not wish to give too much fantasy to the readers. To see the real version of himself, everyone can wait till the movie release in October.
From one album it leads to radio drama, cartoon, movie, it is indeed terrific. Andy said many have said the drama is v touching, there are people who is negotiating with him on a story book, movie pictorial book, the co is still contemplating.

I actually thought that movie was sort of slow-paced and boring. But of course some parts are poignant... I like the ending. Its like his wife will always be with him, even though he can't see her.
But Andy Lau's acting in Internal Affairs is good... he really made me believe he was a disturbed psychopath cop.
