So since there is a lyric composition contest going on, why don't we talk about our favorite lyrics from Jay's songs and why they're your favorite lyrics? This is aside from the music. I think you can have a great line of lyrics but crappy music set to it.

My favorite is from "Love Before the Century"

I love "Love Before the Century" too! I was reading a few of the lyrics for some of the songs as I was trying to categorize them, and came across a lot that I liked

^ Those are my favorite lyrics as well. Like you, I think it's awesome that the song references "Mesopotamia". And it's really one of the most romantic songs Jay has ever sang...just the idea of love existing for a really long time, written in stone, etc, etc is so gorgeous. I thought it was so romantic, I'm incorporating it into a speech I have to give at a wedding ceremony, lol.

my fav is "listen to mama's words". it's about love... for his mom. i just love the lyrics, it has a very good meaning. he's sending a message through his songs to all the people who don't understand their parents and everything... so sweet!

An Jing is my favourite of all time, hands down.

It's really sad, and touching in an oddly sombre kind of way. And the MV suits the mood so well. And Jay is the perfect artist for this kind of song cos I see him like the song - a bit of a loner, somewhat sad and broody but determined to make it through.

It's about love but it isn't like every other love song out there, there's real meaning behind the words - not just 'wo ai ni, ni ai wo' kind of lyrics.

My fave part is An Jing De Mei Zhe Me Kuai. Lovely...

I love the lyrics in An Jing. I remember when I first heard the song, the melody was very moving. The mood was sad and I felt like crying. But I coudln't. I listened to the song over and over. I love jay chou's Simple Love (簡單愛）, basically the entire song is awesome to me, but the part that I know the most and sing the most is the second part of the chorus:

Anyway, I love that part of this song, because love is normally really complicated for a lot of people that I know. They're always involved in like drama and stuff. This simple love that he describes is something people need to realize before it's too late.

Honestly, although I think it's rather selfish but that's what I actually feel when I was with the person I love. I don't want others to see his goodness because I was afraid that they will admire him or something which means I'll have competition :-x Haha. Rather than his old songs (which admittedly are very good), I much prefer one of his new songs "Give me a song's time" (gei wo yi shou ge de shi jian)

I think I like it because it speaks of finishing something, and seeing it out to the end, and the importance of an ending, in anything really - be it a relationship or a story. Because for a story to end happily, it must end.
