Hm.....I noticed there's a pretty good mix of pple here -- some working, some in high school, some in college, and some in middle school too....
So here's a question, which of these periods do u think will be the best times in your life? Or if u've been there, done that, which part did u like best? Working life? College life? etc....

I've been through no school, primary school, and high school life already, and I have to say that the "no school" period was the best (even though I dont remember much of it) I'm gonna be entering the tertiary/college/uni life soon if I make it, and I heard that its very social and laid back, with no pressure at all. Of course, these are just rumours, and in reality, it could be a living hell lol. But I'll believe the rumours and look forward to the future.

As for working life, I've had too many complaints from my parents to be looking forward to that

i dun like working life though i get to earn some money..ppl get more vicious as u get older and working life is stressful.

Well...I think its safe to say as you go higher up the education tree, the more work you'll have. Then again, you get more freedom of choice too. In high school, middle school etc, there are teachers and parents bugging you to do your homework and study. In college, you pretty much have as much work as you want to have. You can pick easy classes that involve no work, and learn nothing at the end of (a very expensive) 4 years...or you can pick hard classes and kill yourself doing all the work and end up thinking of college days as just work. Or you can pick a mix of classes and get drunk all weekend (and perhaps weekdays too) and end up with a crap GPA. :bleh:

Still i think college life is the best so far, cherish the college days....!!! (words from a graduating senior....sigh)

Don't forsee working life being too great, we shall see.... :bleh:
then again, working life means that time at home is free time, there's no such thing as homework assignments etc bothering you!!! ie, there's a distinction between work and leisure....work remains in the office (or so i hope!) and leisure time is yours to spend however u like....
Unlike college life, where sometimes u get so swamped with assignments and papers that u might begin to lose track of what free time is.....
But summer hols, winter hols etc more than makes up for it!!! Plus student deals too!!!

i hate highschool right now, as i'm almost getting out of it...its kind of like a butterfly nearly breaking free of its cacoon...but...

when i look back at my frosh, soph and juni years...i've had great times...i got to try so many stuff...its the most recent period of my life...i can't guess at how life's going to be...but...

from what i've experienced so far...highschool takes the cake.

It's really hard for me to choose because each period in my life has it's sweet and bitter memories. I can't say I'm unhappy now, but sometimes I do wish I were back in high school because I was quite innocent and didn't have much worries then. Of course then I'd thought so many things were problematic but right now I realized those were nothing. Before high school, it was fun too, but I was simply too young to do certain things without my parents then, so it wasn't as much fun.

Now I'm 25, but I haven't really had any real working experience. I'm a graduate student now. I've always worked part-time throughout my college life though. But I haven't had a real full-time job yet. I think I'd prefer college life to working life though. A lot of my friends aren't happy with their jobs after they graduated from college. I think student life is more fun too. But I can't be sure because I haven't really experienced working life. Of course I won't have homework and stuffs (I actually do enjoy those) but there'd be things I have to do for my job.

Honestly, I really love the college environment. I love to be around fellow students. Maybe that's why I've chosen my major: Student Affairs in Higher Education. So I'll still be in a college environment when I start working.

I chose college. I've never really worked besides a 2 month attachment and some temp jobs while waiting to enter college, and I would take the student life over working life anyday. It's way more fun. (Unfortunately I'm graduating in 6 months time.) And I chose college over the rest because while the materials may seem harder, it is more interesting. I also get to experience much more about life in college and enjoy more freedom since I live on campus instead of at home. :)

nice topic!
i loved my college life...went to state university...what a roller coaster ride...
all i can say is cherish your school days...because once your working....you'll definitely miss it a lot...

i am working now...actually i am at work right now...it has its perks...like you get to have your own money though hard earned, but still your own, no more guilt feelings about buying things that you want!...
but its also hard because you have to learn to budget your pay...pay taxes...answer to your boss...

so to all the students out there, savor and enjoy your student life please...whether you are in college/tertiary/secondary...grade school or high school...

oh to be so young and carefree...

i feel so jaded, but im only 24...

Being one of the handful of working members here, you may be surprised that I voted for Working Life.

I like the sense of being able to call shots without consulting my parents anymore. Things like hanging out late at night, going to movies 3 times a week, having a cuppa with friends from lunch til dinner. Certainly the best part is buying things (branded SKIN CARE!) with your own hard-earned money.

And one more reason why I like working life : - NO MORE STUDYING FOR EXAMS !!

It's kind of hard to say because I haven't experienced everything yet. I don't quite remember my days when I was young so I chose high school which is what I'm doing now. I really don't want to leave and go to uni. Being in school has been a routine and I guess that working can too but I haven't really experienced work life. I've only ever had one casual job and I quit because I couldn't hack it. I also feel much safer in my school's environment, even though it's not a very good one.

i like to backtrack, HS was the best for me. hehe. College academe was as hell as I could remember, the friends I gained were okay but all those maths, argh! In HS everything you do borderlines on being childish and adult. besides, my friends from HS are the best.:wink2:

I'd say primary school is the best time of your life.

Sure there are many barriers, like drinking age, driving age etc.
But you have no actual responsibilities other than, washing dishes or cleaning the house.

All the bills are paid for you (electricity etc)

Now....as for exams....there are none....(from where I come from)
No important tests! You can take life very easily!

SO....I conclude....enjoy your childhood days before you become a teenager.
Life was soooo good then. 8)

i love high school....that was the best time of my entire life...because i had the most fun...my school wasn't really big so everyone knows everyone. even tho u might not even talk to that person before, u still know who that person is. it's like a big family. i was very social in high school and had a lot of attention...but college was a bit worst for me...cuz a lot of shit happened and college was sup

posed to be the most fun and forgettable too. unfortunately...i feel that i had lost all my youth there. if i can choose i would choose to go back and make changes...and when i read one of the posts here..one of the members reminded me that kindergarden was the best...and it's true...you don't have to worry about anything when you are in elementry..even if your grades suck..you are still stressfree...no worries at all. but the worst school period is junior high i think...cuz it's like a transition of being a little kid to a big kid..and grades started to effect you too. i hope i have a chance to return back to school. i totally believe it when people that when you are in school you want to get out and work...but once you start working you want to return to school. i agree now. i miss the school days...i like how a group of ppl get together to pull all nighters to study for an exam..it was painful and frustrated at times but to think of it...it is way better than being in the work world...you have to act mature even if you are still just an ordinary innocent person....how i wish i can go back to the past...SEE...! that's why i like JAY..."return to the past"! she spoke my heart out!

Primary School/Elementary Schools is what i have voted as this time of my life i was stress-free with not alot of homework to do and i didnt have to make decisions on what i wanted to do in the future, which is good.

In the UK, our system to those in the US, so ive kinda listed below our system is like vaguely;

-nursery
-primary school
-middle school
-high school
-6th form or college
-Uni

The ages are different as i have mentioned in a previous thread http://www.jay-chou.net/forums/viewtopic.php?p=221887#221887

i am in 6th form now and its pretty tough, as i am studying Travel and Tourism and IT and the coursework is soooo much, but i guess it will be worth all the hardwork in the end if i stick in now :wink2:

high school years definitely! :)

mine was quite traumatic, but despite that, I love my high school years for the following reasons:

- I had my first relationship. I fell in love so almost everyday I was on cloud 9  too bad, the relationship ended just as fast so I spent my last few years in misery

-It was the prime of adolescence... like everyone else, I was discovering who I really was, what I love, what makes me tick... and who I want to be

-I met my bestfriend, my soul sister Ivy :) We've been through a lot together and through the years, we've remained the best of friends. I'm confident we will still be bestfriends until the time when we become gray-haired grannies.

-I've found real, true friends in high school... simple people who understood me and accepted me for who I was. they probably are the best friends I'll ever have in this lifetime

-I discovered and nurtured my love for the Chinese language. I struggled with it and pursued it wholeheartedly.

I chose high school life...I dunno why, since I'm in high school right now and there's heaps of homework! I guess its just that in high school, you don't have to worry about anything except study. You make a lot of friends in high school and its the five short years of your teenagerhood. There's your parents to look after you and I certainly feel very safe! I dunno what I'm gona do when I have to go and find work! haha but thats in another 6 years or so! I'm going to enjoy my teenage years!

the best years was in grade 8...but...in toddler-hood...life was very simple, eat play sleep eat play sleep...etc...and you dont have to understand soooo much about life....i soo want those times back...then i would spend it wisely bcoz as u grow up...life gets harder...>_____<...!!~

Well I graduated from high school already and I missed my friends that I made there. I guess the best point in my life was during those high school years. That was when I made friends with different kinds of people and got to know more of the world rather than elementary school where everyone was a kid and know nothing. But in high school, we tend to grow mature and changed. And thats when we know which of our friends were there for us when we needed them. I had a whole lotsa fun in high school even though there were high and low parts in high school life. So people who are in high school right now...better treasure the memories u made... :)

high school is a lot more carefree, i feel.....
college is a time where you are somewhat expected to have some direction in life....
however, you ARE independent and away from home from the first time in your life! (for most people....i know it doesn't apply to you, willow)

heheheheheh....i was almost gonna type your OTHER name, willow, but look above you and you'll realize why not :bleh:

secondary sch. it was the best days of my life.. seriously.. esp sec1 and 2. i look forward to go to sch everyday! it was a hell of fun and laughter. of course our results then were like not extremely good lah. cuz we kept playing. but still.. it just happens once in a lifetime. the yrs i really felt happy. so now i grew older, i know that life cannot be all play and no work so.. it's just a part of my life for me to reminicse on..

Debated between Secondary School days and Kindergarden. I chose kindergarden in the end though.

Afterall, that was the time when everything seems perfect and i hafe just started the journey of learning. Everything seemed so fresh at that time. Learning was fun. Everyone was gullible and adorable. Ahh.. happy times. I still visit my kindergarden teacher. She a nice soul. Too bad she moving abroad soon!

this is such a hard choice. im just fresh out of school so now im just entering the 'working phase' of my life. a lot of people say that being single and working and earning your own money is the best.....but i dont know that yet. so far my years in college and post grad school have been the best but im also excited with what's coming next. since i dont know any better yet...ill choose college. :wink2:

yummieboba
03-26-2004, 05:44 PM
hm, i'm in college right now, so i definitely picked college! when you're young you really can't make your own decisions, and for me, even deciding what college i wanted to attend was one of my first and biggest decisions i've made by myself. and the amount of independence you get when you go to college.

this also might seem kind of weird, but it seems like you have more time in college. the school i'm goign to has like a four day week, because most people dont have class on fridays, and there just seems to be so much more time to have fun!!

the reason why i didn't choose high school is because in my experience, high school was filled with, well, high school drama. and that's something i want steer clear from in the future. drama is such a waste of time and energy! and i didn't pick working life either because.. M-F, 9-5? AND i can't skip if i'm feeling totally down? yea, doesn't look too happy. :glug:

i'll go for the carefree kindergarten days :excited:
i miss those days so much...they're so fun...no worries and troubles at all...i can still run around playing 'blow wind blow and AEIOU' with my mates altough tomorrow is the test... now,as a student,i'm so stressful with assignments, projects, homeworks, games, society and bla bla bla.....then have to face examinations...i really hope that i can go back time... :wink2:

Melvin
03-28-2004, 01:19 PM
well I haven't been through all of them yet so I don't really know how to future would be like... Because there were good and bad things in each stage of my life. I liked my kindergarden days because I almost had really nothing to worry about.. Just playing everyday.. and being naughty.

I can't really remember much of my toddler days.. But, there were good and bad times in my primary school days... During the first few years it wasn't too bad.. But I don't quite think I had many friends then.. and I was a little stupid then... and the later stages of primary school days were worst... especially the last few years... streaming, primary school leaving examinations... I didn't do too well... and I had always HATED chinese... I wondered why the heck they included it in the syllabus in the first place... I thought it was the most difficult and stupid language in the entire world. I didn't do too well for my final exams and I came to the school I'm in now...

Actually I'm quite happy that I came to this school.. At first I was really angry because I didn't know anyone there at all... But after awhile I made some friends.. I'm in sec 2 now... It's quite enjoyable though that at least you know what you're doing and get to play quite a lot too...

But I still think high school would be the best point in my life.. So I'm still looking forward to it.. :)

I chose todler times. I had a hard choice between that and high school. Well first high school, theres always the parties, and who can forget the girls. While having such a great life, school is a downer. With your parents on every case of fault, and pressure on Honor/AP classes. Then i remembered my toddler years, I had no care in the world, i got away with everything. I'm guessing the "toddler hood" includes chilhood. I used to hang out with my cousins, one time we were pretending to drive a car in a real car. and some how the four of us, got the car running. and then coincidentally one of us placed the car in drive. we felt the car move a little, so i went down and steped on all the levers. We drove stright into the garage. ahh fun times, and we didnt get in trouble.

I chose kindergarden because during that period we no need to think about so many things! N we can do such sume silly n unbelieveable things and other people will wun remember all the time! It is realy a good time for me! And so i think that is the best point of my life!

i don't have much memories of my toddler hood.. or during my kindy..
and my primary and high school life was so-so only..

i guess my best point of life at this moment is my college year..
cuz i really hav alot alot of fun with my mates..
and during that period is where i meet and get to have the most freedom of my time..

i'm working now.. i wouldn't say i'm happy doing it..
since.. it's sort of a way for me to earn money only..
oh well.. maybe i'm juz to used to studyin..
gimme a few more yrs.. maybe i'll give ya a more diff opinion..

This is hard to say as i'm still schooling... but i've worked before and found it fun to meet many different people even though it might be quite tiring...

In school, you mostly meet people of the same age as you!!! All they do is study and play!!! But when you work, you meet people older that you who have commitments to make.

Therefore it's a totally different life but now I think it's the best for me which is studying and working part-time, getting to know more about life!!!

hmm...i like this topic.
well, i think that middle school is the best point in my life, coz there;s a lot more time for me to meet new friends, hang out with them while the school work is alot less than those given at high school. High school life is just much harder than middle school, when i'm taking 4 ap classes, it's way too stress out for me, and taken most of my time away for study and spent very little time with my friends. right now, i hope that the working life part of my life would be a lot more relaxing than high school life.

i voted for high school because it is a time for which you see how the adult life is but then again you can still act like a child. it is a time for friends and fun but then also a time for seriousness for getting into universities and all. but i think high school was the best point cause it is a time that i was more mature and more serious about my work and just to have a social life for once

:hmm: I voted for high school,it was the BEST moment of my life! :excited:
I had the greatest turning points in that period of time.
I experienced a lot of ups and downs, twists and turns, highs and lows.
I felt all the extreme emotions any person could ever feel in his entire life.
And another reason why I loved high school is because I learned so much from it.
I learned a lot of lessons that cannot be learned inside the four corners of a classroom.
The whole span of time taught me how to become a better, stronger and wiser person.

I am working now. I rather stay in this period of my life. No use heading back.

I was most stressful when I am schooling. I have to study really hard and play hard for everything. Everytime I want to do something, I want to win someone. I have to come up as top three. It was enough.

Now that I am working, I am earning money. I don't have to memories facts for exams and tests. There is nothing I need to hand to my parents to sign, to see or nasty things for them to get angry about. My parents give me a lot of freedom now. They don't want money from me.

Working life is full of politics, but once you know how to run like a fox. You are better than the dog.

It's supposed to be high school. But my high school sucks because I moved high school during the last year of my HS year. So the graduation part in high school didnt left much emotion to me since I only studied there for a year. So I choose my college life. I love my college life (both in community college and the university).

i think high school would be the best year especially year 10!!
but then in your working life...if you pursue a career you realli loved and enjoyed then that would be pretty good as well

I think college life is most fascinating. This is the critical time where your future lies on. If you happen to mix with unhealthy kinda friends, I think you life will be badly affected. And this is the begining of adulthood, there are so many things to experience. I definitely like college time best.

college life!
you get away with a lot of things...

absolut is right, you just choose your friends if you wanna end up sane and graduate.

working life is so-so...you earn money but you have to pay your taxes, bills, social security, housing, a lot...at least when you are a student you get everything for free...courtesy of the parents, hello mum and dad...

IM in Highskool. 15 years old... its kinda dull really.
do the same things. get up early everyday. around 6. Go for a swim to wake up. Have a shower so you dont smell like Chlorine
Go to skool after a short and nearly non existent breakfast,
Sleep in Commerce, Bludge in Science, Get send out in Maths, Sleep again in IT.
Then youwalk home. DUmp your bag on the floor of your room and turn on you computer.

although working life is great cause u finally have money to go out w/ friends, buy a bunch unnecessary junk that u want, and actually be independent.. i have to say college was probably the best.. i turned 21 during my college yrs and needless to say so did all my friends so it was a lot of partying going on.. now it's more like, 'well... iono... i have to get up early for work 2mrw' BLAH!!!

Not doubt at all,
Needless to think,
Definite answer,
I can tell you in a blink.
That it is college's life :excited: !~!

Now that i started working, its like going to office before the sunrise and reaching home without having the sun on my sight.
Those time in college are the best. Girls, sports, books (i like to study), party, event, playing all the time  and just too much to mention...
If i were to choose second best, then it would be secondary school.
Miss those great moments

Anyway, working wasnt that bad afterall... but i still prefer as a college student :wink2:

Well... being an unemployed graduate, i would say the best part of my life is college. I get to know many people from all walks of lives, not to mention different countries... and suddenly, History gets real interesting! I had much more choice than before in terms of studies... doing classes that I love and learning things I want to learn, instead of being assigned to learn something that I probably won't use for the rest of my life after that 2.5hours of crappy test... (Why did I ever take up Advance Maths??)

Anyway, people in schools now... Cherish your time there. It is really the only time that you don't see too much of boot-licking and have the chance to make real friends rather than... mere colleagues...

Gees... I need to grow up and stop remincising about my school days...

Those were the days...

I don't know about anyone else. but I had a blast in High school. I had so many friends, and still keep up with some of them until this day. I have known my best friend I cannot believe it, for over 20 years. That is pretty cool. Even though he lives in Israel, we still keep in touch. I have so many great memories in High school. hanging out at the beach with my friends in Florida, and just hanging in the mall. This was also when I had both parents alive, and they made such a wonderful impact on my life and in growing up to be the woman that I am today. High school was so much fun, because we had really cool pep rallies as athletes also. So traveling was fun also doing sports.
