I'm thinking of getting people together in our NEW CHAT ROOM (http://chat.jay-chou.net/flashchat.php) during the song battle where we can get to know each other and maybe play a game or two. So I'd like to put a poll to see when I can run these chat activities, and also get your suggestions on what kind of games you'd like to play in chat. The chat games are time limited so we'd like to see when people are most available.

So please respond to the poll about which time zone you're in, and also what kind of suggestions you have about what games you want to play (that are along the lines of the song battle).

Time Zones

Game ideas:
Guess the Jay Song (one line of lyrics will be given and you have to tell us what the song it is)
Name that Tune (5 seconds of a song will be played and you have to tell us what the song is)
Celebrity Jay-pardy (self explanatory)

Previous games:
Random Trivia
Spin the bottle
Guess the Accent

Definitely a good idea (:

When I enter chat, if I don't really know the people there I tend to get a little anti-social so I just leave :sealed:

Hehs in any case, Imma join this definitely if possible!
&&& I live in the GMT +8.00 timezone

I think you got it wrong, you have to register again, just use the same username or a different one if you like.

GMT + 10:00!

The chatroom does seem empty most of the time, it would be great if we can promote it some more and add some fun to it.

So get on chat & caht with me!

Hmm, chatroom is pretty empty. Maybe since I am logging in around 2am. I'm GMT -8.

Hope something fun goes on in there.

Hi Judes!!! I like this idea....you're very creative girl!...I can't wait :-) ....Well one game could be "El Ahorcado" (The hanged person) that we play here in my country...One person thinks about something....a name, city, food, anything! and then gives the other person the spaces...for example....I think about the color "GREEN"....Then I write __ __ __ __ __ each space correspond to each letter of the word...and then the other person has to guess about those letters...for each letter that the person guesses wrong I draw a person....first the head, then the body, the eyes, the arms, etc and finally the tree with the cord and the person hanging! and it's over....you have to guess the right name before you end with the cord around your neck! lol...The name is kind of mean but it's really good...at least you have fun for a while....it's just an idea that's all!

P.S: Yes Kathy you need to register....and then you can accede to the chatroom...You can use your nickname or another one.

most people have answered the question, but i'll say it again.
you have to register again (preferably under your JCNET username so we know who you are).

and everyone, thanks for your great ideas, keep them coming :)

for those who are around and have some free time, please come into the chat room! if we have more people on, we'll get more conversation, and i found that when the chat was up before, that was how i met a lot of the JCNET members and got to know them pretty well.

oh wow i didnt know theres that many people in pacific time besides me. good idea, i like it.
but time limit? i dunno thats going to be hard since i'm pretty sure everyone has schedules on top of school, activities, and even work. if there is going to be a time limit i think it should be open for atleast 6 hours.

there'll probably be more than one event, but it's impossible to keep it open for that long since i'll have to be there to run it and i definitely can't be there for 6 hours. i'll just post up a list of times and whoever can make for those times can show up.

I am really really thinking about converting it to the OLD java chat room.

Advantages:

1). No additional registration required, you use your forum name, and it automatically logs you in

2). NO REFRESHES, NO LAGS! It is like an IRC chat. People can leave their window open without that annoying refresh, it'd be like leaving your MSN, or AIM on.

Disadvantages:

1). Some people have issues due to firewall settings, and won't be able to access it

2). Unmoderated, well the current one kinda is too..

So unless anybody violently objects, I think I will switch over to the java based IRC chat.

Ok Judes....you do what you think is best for us and for you of course!!...The old way was fine by me and this new one too so I don't have any problem and I think the rest of the people agree with me....it's very very difficult for you to please everybody so do what you have to do girl....and thanks for it!

karen that sounds good actually, i really liked the old IRC chat system...especially the quote system of course. hahaha.

we'll still have to download that java thing each time we load the chat, right?

Unfortunately all the fun stuff from the previous chat, like the quote thingy won't be available. It requires a resident bot. I'm thinking of just a stripped down plain ol chat thingy. No maintenance required basically.

judes

yeah that would probably be better. the less time it takes to maintain it is the best system. the new flash one is pretty but it doesn't work on older computers (ie school ones) and i hate the automatic timeout feature.

the activity in the chatroom doesn't require a mod anyway until it gets really big. this one won't have all of the IRC features like file sharing and uploading, right?

that's a gd idea.. i've not been to the chatroom before and i'd definitely like to visit it some day... this will be something new to me
