I have been a fan of Tank since buying his debut album. He is a reall talented artist and he composes most of his songs. This 2nd album was released on January 19, 2007. I didn't know what to expect since I liked his debut so much. It is hard to surpass the debut album with songs like Gei Wo Ni De Ai and San Guo Lian. I listened to every song in the album and here are my thoughts on all the songs:
Track 1: This track is fairly short, it contains a hip hop R&B feel to it, sort of like Lee Hom's Fang Kai NI De Xin. I think this song was a good song to start the album off. It's about some anti-terrist group and they take down evil and serves justice. It's pretty neat and short.
Track 2: The main song of the album. It is a good song with lots of rhythm. The lyrics were written by Tank and it is about his music life and how he liked music as a kid. I liked this song, it has some rap and then the chorus is good.
Track 3: This song was also written by Tank and it is about basketball. This song reminds me a lot of Jay Chou's Dou Niu. I like this song a bit more than dou niu, it has good lyrics and a catchy tune.
Track 4: This song is the first of many ballads in the album. It has good lyrics and a good composition. It is a great song to listen to for love and all. It's similar to gei wo ni de ai in some ways. It is a good song, but the thing is that there are just so many of these types of ballads out there that some people won't find anything unique about it. I still liked it though, it's smooth and nice.
Track 5: Another ballad, one of my favorite ballads in the album. This is about the feeling of first love or something, it's nice and has that feeling of high school romance and all that. Tanks vocals in this song is pretty good too. I especially liked the chorus for this song. It just sounds good, there's nothing more to say, it sound very good.
Track 6: This song is a hip hop type song with a bit of rap at the end. It is overall relaxing to listentoo, good for times of relaxation. I personally don't find this song attractive too much but it's not bad and most people would like it.
track 7: Maybe my favorite track in the album. It is another ballad and it is similar to track 5. It starts out slow and I really liked the lyrics, there's some metaphors used regarding the weather which I found pretty nice and cute. Girls will probably like this song, I find this song great to listen to. It has that feeling to first love and young/pure/simple love. It's like this guy really likes this girl and just wants to spend time with her to get to know her better and just be with her. I liked this song since the first time I heard it and I recomend it to anybody.
Track 8: This song is the ending song to the taiwan series "Hana Kimi". This song is also a ballad and it has the same exact feel as Gei Wo Ni De Ai, which is a great thing. I liked this song, it was nice and nice. The lyrics are nice and it definately is a great song to listen to. This would be a good song to sing to a girl, the lyrics explain how the girl is just like an angel, the beauty, the kindness. Great track
Track 9: This song, to me wasn't to great. I liked it, but it just didn't click. I'm sure there are some people that would like it but I just didn't like it so much. It has a bit of chinese theme kind of music too it, I just didn't find anything too special about it.
Track 10: This is a ballad but it has a fast pace to it. I personally liked it and it is about breakup and the last smile between the couple. It's a good song and I liked it pretty much, it's good.
Track 11: Dear Tank, I don't get the title but the song isn't too bad. It's just that by the time you get to this song, you already heard about 4 to 5 ballads and this one would just make you want to stop cause most of them are similar in ways. I just listened to it a few times and yeah, it's good. It isn't as great as the other ballads though.
Overall: Tank decided to not write too much lyrics and left the lyrics of the ballads to other people. The first 3 song were all great and filled with energy. Tracks 4,5,7,8 all are similar and all are good. It might feel a bit boring listening to the same genre of songs bbut they are great ballads. Tracks 7,9,11 are all good but there's just something holding them back from really easy to listen to. Tanks vocals are great and have that soft feeling. I thought the production quality was better than his first album and that makes me happy. Tank put alot of effort into this album and it paid off.
