yeah, can't wait to see this movie. sounds promising. :happy: i think it was shot in hk one or two months ago. i watched this special with taozi like a month or so ago (?) where she got to hang around on the set with vanness and the korean actress. vanness made a really exhausted expression then, but i think it was mainly due to a tight schedule and the physical stress.

I do think Vanness Wu did his part on this movie. I heard he had to do a lot of training for this, and it seems all the training has not come to waste. Besides shooting this film did wonders on his looks (haircut, weight loss, all those defined muscles, hehe) I fairness to him, I think Vanness really did well in this movie.

Okay I just watched the movie...downloaded the whole thing yesterday using bit-torrent. Was gonna post the bit-torrent link here (its a pretty big file tho) but somehow it disappeared from the site i got it from.

*SPOILERS*
Anyway, its no big loss, unless you are a huge fan of boxing, or you take perverse pleasure in seeing these bunch of topless guys get all bloddy from being beaten up. Or i guess if you are a big Vanness fan (tho HE keeps his shirt on mostly)
It looked a lot better in the trailers.....i must say i'm pretty disappointed.... :crazy: I guess i expected more??
the plot seemed very under-developed. And CHOPPED up.
Ah-bang (Vanness) and Kim (Kim Hyun Joo) meet up, she's his summer school substitute teacher or something.
Randomly he rescues her from some thugs (wierd chasing scene with seemingly no point)
Randomly they meet up on the subway, and he leaves his gloves behind, and of course she delivers it.
And the next thing you know, they're in love....

AH well....its not too bad, its just that i thought it would be a lot better.

I finally got the chance to watch this movie! :excited: Actually, I could've watched it a while ago but I just refused to because I couldn't spare two hours of my precious time watching something that had 1/4 of Feminine 4 in it. :shifty: But my friend rented it from Chicago and I finally decided to watch it.

Okay... I think Vanness Wu needs to put on like an extra 20 pounds to look more convincing for his role. He looks too skinny! Nicely toned, boyish looking, but not big enough, not manly enough.

Andy On (Tank) though... :drool: :drool: Ever since watching Black Mask 2 (although the movie sucks), I've got the hots for him. :drool: :drool: I spent 90% of the time staring at Andy's abs in all his boxing scenes. :drool: :drool: Actually, he looks muscular everywhere. :whistle: Well... I saw his back and shoulders and they were awesome, and so were his thighs in the last scene. Nice body... :love: And cool hairstyle! :laughing: In this movie he kinda reminds me of the Rock, only more human! :rolleyes:

Both of those guys need acting lessons though. :oops: I guess they're fairly decent for their respective roles in the movie. I can't imagine them in more expressive roles though. Andy was horrible in Looking for Mr. Perfect, although he looked as hot as ever. :love:

There's not much correlation between this movie and Andy Lau's movie except they're both about Thai kickboxing. Oh... that, and of course the Chinese titles. :rolleyes:

I read the review on lovehkfilm (http://www.lovehkfilm.com/reviews/star_runner.htm) and had a good laugh. :laughing: Especially when I read this part where they compared the two movies:
"And yes, Kim Hyun-Joo is pretty, though nowhere in the league of Takako Tokiwa, or probably even Vanness Wu, who's probably the prettiest person in the entire film."
And this part:
"Yep, girls will probably go gaga over Wu's shaggy locks and could-be-a-girl-himself popstar looks, but the kid shouldn't carry a movie like Star Runner just yet."

Overall, I think the love story is really sweet though, especially the part where they kissed at the train station. :happy:

BUT, what happened in the end though? I mean, the match. :hmm: Everyone was screaming "No!" and the two guys rushed forward, and then freeze frame... :hmm:

I just watched this movie... but then during some parts it would freeze cuz the file wasn't completed downloaded ehe but anyway it was okay. and yea... it was sorta confusing in the end.. who won?? :? but yes, Vunsin, Tank was really REALLY cool :D did you hear voice too?? it sounded so... so... "manly" :laughing: the fighting scenes were pretty good too and it was sort of funny seeing 'chin ga lok' play a kick boxer since i mostly see him playing the funny, silly guy roles. and especially in the Super Trio Show! :happy:

Yes, Andy On (Tank) is cool AND hot at the same time! :laughing: I thought he only had a six-pack in Black Mask 2 but in Star Runner he had an eight-pack! :love: :drool: But it was funny to hear the two Chinese Americans (Andy and Vanness) conversing in perfect American English in the ring when they're not supposed to be Americans in the movie! :laughing:

Chin Kar Lok... actually he was in many other actions movies. I thought he was even a stuntman or something. I've seen more of his action movies than comedies. Oh... and Shaun Tam (Chris Young) looks good too. He's the son of Ti Lung/Di Lung who was a big star a long time ago. He really looks like a young Ti Lung! :laughing: Ti Lung had a cameo in the movie too. He was the Wing Chun master. I almost couldn't believe he actually looked so good when he was younger. :rolleyes:

Well... the last scene of the match, they both kinda jumped towards each other as their friends and coaches yelled, "NO!!!" And then freeze frame. Later, there were no more scenes with real dialogs. Only what the Korean girl read from her journal or something.

roche: Yes, Andy was born and raised in America. There isn't much info on him on the Internet yet because he's still relatively new to the entertainment circle, but supposedly he used to be a bartender in Rhode Island before he got sick of it and decided to go to HK to pursue an acting career (or simply something different). Anyhow, he was convincing in the movie, wasn't he? That's why he deserves the award! :happy:

About Vanness, did you watch the other news clip? :? They explained his presence on stage. Supposedly he and Andy have become good friends during the filming of Star Runner and they'd promised to support each other no matter who won the award. It was a "joke" they played on the audience and organizer and everybody ELSE, I guess. Like, whoever did NOT win would pretend to be confused as a result of not understanding Cantonese and tried to grab the award. :laughing:

I thought it was really sweet of Andy to mention his little sister. :laughing: He has two sisters, but I'm not sure if they're both younger.

I also happen to have two interview clips with the Star Runner cast and crew if anyone's interested. :wink2: And, btw, Andy is a great singer too! :happy: He's recorded four songs so far. The first one is for the Black Mask II soundrack. The other two are for the Why Me, Sweetie?! starring Louis Koo and Cherrie Yin (one is a duet with Jolin :rasp: and the other one is a solo). The latest one isn't really much. It was some funny/stupid song with Sean Lau Ching Wan (who RAPS :rolleyes:) for their latest movie Itchy Heart.

i just watched this recently! i thought it was pretty good and not to mention i also saw it this weekend in Blockbuster in the US i mean since when does Blockbuster carry HK/chinese films lol it was exciting.
i thought this movie was pretty good and has a descent story line. this is like one of the first movies that i saw vanness in. is he in anymore? i know he;s in alot of dramas.

I loved this movie! Vanness looks so cool in it! But I absolutely hated the ending!!! They didn't even show the end of the match!!!! And they show his grandfather but not his parents... The female actress is not good at crying though...
