No..unfortunately it's not open yet. I just have no idea what items to put in it. I started it today again after putting it on the back burner for ages.

For a preview go here:
Shop (http://www.jay-chou.net/forums/ishop.php)

Those are the items I put in today, and yes you may buy them if you want to waste your points. There is no confirmation, so if you click to BUY, it's a BUY!! If you don't have enough points (ON-HAND! Not in the bank, you may have to withdraw points first), it won't do anything. You can also sell back stuff you bought, but at a fraction of the price.

To view what items a member has you would go to this URL:

http://www.jay-chou.net/forums/ishop.php?do=ViewMember&id=[ENTER_ID _HERE]

For [ENTER_ID _HERE] input your userID or whoever's ID you want to use.
For example mines would be:
http://www.jay-chou.net/forums/ishop.php?do=ViewMember&id=3

To find your ID, just roll over your name. It's those numbers at the end.

Once the item shop is ready, I'll add those links to make it more accessible. For now consider yourself lucky to find this thread and get a sneak peak.

So anyways, back to the task at hand. I need an inventory list of things you guys would like to buy. And if possible include pictures. For example I'm sure the fangirls would love to buy their favorite boyband, whether F4, Fahrenheit, whatever. Not being a fan myself, I wouldn't know what kind of pictures to select to use.

umm... WHAT?

whats the point of buying? is there like a special feature in each one or something? like do we get a unique jay layout if we buy the silver ps3 or something? or are we just trading our money for pictures?

umm..that's what a virtual item shop IS. Yes so basically trade your points for pictures. Geez..you guys keep asking what to use the points for, so there you have it.

It's normally really popular in those video game forums where people will buy swords, guns, whatever for their "character" and all it does is show a little image in their inventory.

Some forums allow you to buy username changes, sticky topics, or other forum options, but I'm not allowing that as it'll get to messy.

If no one wants it, then great! Less work for me. All I really want points for is to control access to downloads.

I have an idea. Instead of practical items, let's have gifts that JCNetizen's can relate to:

KANRS - cute dolls, candy & stickers (avatars)
Surfers - surfboards & pillows (even players need to rest)
LQP - nunchucks & naked jay dolls (no wait, a series of naked hot-guy dolls!!!!)
SA - paints, easel & ear-plugs (the ipods in electronics should come in handy too)
WMZY - Training kits (http://www.trainingkits.co.uk/index.htm) (<- the BF training kit was the most successful in her series. hahaha)
Diao Krew - The name say's it all, what does the crew want? 'Diao' and lot's of it! MAUHAHAHA

Some of the items (ok, many) are a little silly, but you get the idea (SA, sorry about the ear-plugs, a little help?)... perhaps member's can suggest gift's they'd like to give to fellow group member's, fan-thread member's? Maybe even country-specific souvenirs to give visiting member's who drop by your country-thread? (I want a Durian!)

As jayx8318x already mentioned regarding fan-thread member's... I like how Pam has created some banners HERE (http://jay-chou.net/forums/showthread.php?t=23246#) (1st post, but scroll to the end) to share with fellow fans. Perhaps member's can contribute banner's to be purchased and used by other JCNetizen's? (tee hee, perhaps contributor's can earn points this way?)

Just tossing idea's in... if it is too much work creating all this though, we can always just stick to thievery and gambling. That was fun :D

ok makes sense// are you going to add some features with the pictures that cost alot like say the 800 point ps3? something fun for the points, it doesnt necessarily have to be messy. like what about a feature that lets us change the color of our name

Haha Pei I like your ideas. Yeah I didn't mean for it to be "serious" items, but those were ones I could think of quickly. There's one category where people can buy "A Pat on the Back" or "A Hug" ...something stupid like that.

I know everything seems to cost alot, but once done, I'll probably turn back on Lottery, Gambling, and Donations. I just turned it off bc I didn't want people to hoard money. Username colors, bolding, italicizing can be done...but I didn't know how far that can go and whether it was worth it in terms of people's interest. There are options where you can actually change OTHER people's sigs, avatars, and all sorts of stuff. While fun in theory, I was afraid it could get ugly.

well, I guess that's what karen's asking of us... to make some suggestions for fun items.

Coloured username's would be fun, but an utter mess of the homepage... and how would you differentiate who the mod's & admin are?

*buff's red username to sparkling gleam*

Ahaha.... Like my friend in New Zealand who used to asked for a free 'smile' because it was listed on the McDonald's menu. Man they hated him...

How about wallpapers or banners etc of Jay exclusively made by JCnet members? People here could make money..I mean points selling them while people can also spend their money...blah points on something more useful than pictures.

Points for pictures, that's all there is to it. The money can't be made by anyone. When someone buys something, the money is just deducted from their account. It's not deposited anywhere. I've listed the capabilities above. It's simply --> points for pictures. You don't get bells, or whistles, or Jay popping out and telling you congratulations on your purchase.

The novelty in the whole thing is to be able to click on someone's profile and see all the different items they have bought. There's also the donate function where you can buy something, then give it to someone else. Once we get hundreds of items, it will be more interesting.

I'm talking about simple banners, like those featured in some members' sigs, or xanga/myspace/blog layout about Jay. Ok so you can't earn money from others but you can put someone's creation on the shop list for sell right?

Can we collect limited edition dolls that resemble JCNet mods and admins?

I think it'll be fun to collect them, like the Snoopy's from the different countries. I think there was more than 50 of them.

Or maybe properties from the monopoly board lol

Eh...that's all I can think of for now.

GREAT! : D

It's finally out (: But then, I don't really have ideas for stuff as of yet.
But then, the shop's good for getting things for prizes & all during themeweeks & competitions

Hmmm...

Currently, all i can think is really things like banners, wallpapers, picture-related stuff. Maybe e-cards/avatars to send to members; just for encouragement or just an appreciation.

I don't think i am really helpful in this way... *sweat* ... haha

Yay finally, a shop!

i used to be a member of a forum that had a shop too and the items were pixels, (which unfortunately the owner just joqqed from adoption sites -- bad idea). maybe we can have pixels of jay's weird accessories like the burger trucker cap or the giant jewel ring in bai se feng che, also blinkies... maybe the jcnet's talented pixellers can help out and make stuff for the shop... and also maybe 32x32 (or 50x50) pics of album/single covers, you know, like buying "albums" of your favorite artists, etc... anyway, these are my suggestions :)

Ahaha.... Like my friend in New Zealand who used to asked for a free 'smile' because it was listed on the McDonald's menu. Man they hated him...

lol when i was little i made my mom ask for the smile at mcdonald's because i thought i was gonna get a free smilie button pin. i was pretty disappointed afterwards haha

HAHAHHAA. You're like "why is she just smiling at me?" "Where's my freebie?!?!?!"
*stomps out feeling ripped off*

Cute idea, I'm not sure how many of the mods will supply photos... but perhaps we can draw caricatures of ourselves & see if anyone will bid for it? :D

btw, has anyone purchased anything from the store yet?

I think we can have a mini cd shop starting with Jay's albums and then from there we can build it up. Also we can have items like accessories from the artistes, like rings, pendants, necklaces and even nail art (that's for Ayu) which members can purchase.

It will be good, if we can trade or have auctions for these items, lol. Especially for those limited edition stuff~

I like the idea of the dolls of the mods and admins thing, maybe we can have a competition to let members design those dolls eh? =P

or maybe... we could like... chop off Jolin's finger and sell them to anti-Jolins so they can run around and scream happily that they have Jolin's finger?

Just kidding.

we could... do the wallpapers/avatars/banner sets thing but we could auction it off like cats suggested. or we could put in random stuff like a kettle or a pot together with stuff like manolo blahniks.

well... about the boybands, it would be good to add them in because i noticed that alot of people likes Fahrenheit and the likes =).

I think selling moderator dolls, banners, avatars & Jay albums & accessories are very great ideas. But I was thinking that maybe we can add more items to the electronics department & make it a little more realistic & worthwhile.

Such as selling dvds & cds from other artists as well. Then we can make the dvds & cds clickable to where you can hear a song sample or see a movie clip. With that in mind,a embeddable player will be needed.

Because it will be easy to get the clips from sites like youtube & just embed them in the players through html codes.I know some may say, what's the point when you can go to youtube & watch it.

But it's a part of this site's fun & makes the purchasing process more realistic. It's like you're buying something that you can actually use.

I'm prepared to help in anyway because I know in order for all this to happen. It will take alot of work to make it a reality.

I don't know how many people feel about selling a rep point for like 100 or maybe even 200 virtual points. But it's an idea & it takes alot of hardwork sometimes to earn those kind of points. So the contribution will still show in the rep points & it will motivate people to become more active.

But that's just my opinion.I hope all of these suggestions help even the slightest. Please pm me if you guys need any assistance & I'll do what I can to help.^^

Wow, I've never been motivated to participate in a forum for rep points (if that was the aim, I'd rather play an RPG game and level up). But, thanks for the suggestion and for offering your help. That's always appriciated around here...

EDIT: Hey, I really like the idea of purchasing usable items. It would be difficult to implement of course, but it's giving me ideas. Say you wanted to share some great websites with members... rather than just having a thread where the links are posted, you can purchase the service/goods as a JCN mall item/service

My JCN service idea
The thing is, the services (useful website recommendations) in the JCN mall are not websites you visit and bookmark on a whim. They have to be sites that you frequent fairly often (ie: JCnet, pandora (personal DJ) , metacritic (music/movie critic site), etc). These services/websites are recommended by forum members and sent to a team to organise (possibly a task for the JCN planners, tho the mentors may want to help). Once they have been selected & pre-packed by the team, they can fwd it onto Karen to add as an item.

So the JCN Mall could have items & services
Item: JCN moderator dolls (to mutate &/or adore as you wish)
Item: links to music/video samples (as recommended by kwonsang26)
Service: Mix it up and access your own personal DJ (link provided on purchase)
Service: Here are the best recipes in town (link provided on purchase)

Prototype sample of service idea

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v82/ColaPoP/JCN/pandoraservice.jpg
Pandora Internet Radio - Find New Music, Listen to Free Web Radio
Pandora is the music discovery service that helps you find new music based on your old and current favourites. Purchase service (10 points)

Once the points have been deducted from your bank, you are given the link
http://www.pandora.com

This is a site I love and frequent often, thus I have used it as the sample. Obviously, any fool can browse the service list & google the name of the link without purchasing the service/link, but it's the principle behind the idea... of providing a service that would give real value to the members that purchase it. Plus it would only cost 10 points or some small amount so ppl would actually purchase it.
