[OT Poll] What is your favorite Jay Album/EP?

There may be polls already in the Polls Polls Polls forum on this topic, but this will serve as an official poll, just for the sake of this whole ordeal.

To start this thing off, let's have a warmup poll. This poll will last the entire duration of the game.

As the topic title states, what is your favorite Jay album/ep? Instead of just stating which one, please elaborate on why, or what songs you liked.

My favorite is Ye Hui Mei. It was the first album Jay started developing a "theme" for his albums. And it also includes some of the best songs. This was probably also during the peak of my fangirlism.

hmm. i chose Jay's Fantasy. it was the album that got me addicted to him, and i really loved kai bu liao kou, an jing, dui bu qi, shanghai 1943, and everything else. :X

it's also one of the first cds i've ever bought in my whole life. so yeah i guess it holds some kind of significance. lol.

My favorite is Qi Li Xiang...because it was the first album from Jay I listened to. And I "fell in love" with his music when I listened to his songs there. Such as...Qi Li Xiang, Jie Kou, Ge Qian, etc etc.

I chose Novermber's Chipon because it's my first Jay album and it contained the song, Besieged From All Sides, that got me addicted to Jay in the first place.

i choose Common Jasmin Orange because it was the first jay cd i bought and the whole reason i got addicted to jay's songs. yea and it was probably the first music video i saw [for the track commom jasmine orange]. november chopin would come second; but ALL of his cds are awesome. i can just pop any one of them in and listen to it all day.

well, i chose the hidden track EP, because it has my favourite jay song of all time, "gui ji" . when i first heard that song, man, i was blown away...i already had all his previous albums, and had little periods of craziness about some songs....

but to this day, theres only a few jay songs i can listen to non stop, and this is it, along with fa ru xue...

i chose still fantasy .. because i started listening to jay when nov chopin came out ..

but sf.. it provides me the tracks that i could love.. i was addicted to qian li zhi wai .. then bai se feng che , ban cang gao mu, tui hou, ju hua tai .. i have a lot of my fave songs in this album .. =)

For me it's a juggle up between Fantasy and 8D.

In the end I choose 8D probably due to sentimental value. This album introduced me to Jay's music and who Jay is. It was this album which thrust me into Jay's world and up to now, is my most listened-to album. At the peak of my love for this album, I spun the tracks EVERYDAY over the period of about 12 months. :sweat:

i chose QLX because it's the first "full" jay album i ever listened to, and even though i like a lot of his older songs, this one has my favorite jay song on there.

my favorite albums go between Fantasy and Nov Chopin, but i ultimately picked November's Chopin because I either like or love every single song in that album. i think that album pretty much summed up Jay's musical style in one nice package.
although my favorite songs comes from Fantasy, there are just some other songs in that album that kills it for me...

I chose eight dimensions. I loved Fantasy too, but I guess eight dimensions has more of my favorite songs, like An Hao and Ban Dao Tie He. The very first Jay album that I ever listened to was Fantasy though.

Hmm, it's a battle between YHM and Still Fantasy. YHM brought upon the first breakthrough and Still Fantasy, the other. But YHM's songs are really too impressive. Each songs had their own story to tell. Of course, not forgetting that "he's so hot!" pics during the era. Everyone loves bad boy. :rolleyes:

I originally wanted to vote for the Ye hui Mei album but then I thought that becuase November's Chopin was really the first Jay Album that I ever got, it was my favorite. It had the songs that I loved the best from Jay - Ye Qu, La Se Feng Bao (I still cant spell for rmemebr that name><), Fa Ru Xue, Feng..........

But then now, I love the Huo Yuan Chia EP as well, since Hua Yang Chia was one of my favorite Jay songs. Plus he sang a cantonese song there quite... cutely :love: (not ssure if that's supposed to be the correct word to describe Hen Sai but whatever XD)

Of the 7 albums, I like "Still fantasy","Nov's Chopin","Common Jasmin Orange" most. But to choose one, it will be "Nov's Chopin" cos in it there is my all-time Jay song "Nocturne". However, i also like many songs in the rest albums such as "In the name of the Father" in vol4, "Dragon fist" in vol 3...

i was having a hard choice between ye hui mei and november's chopin but i voted for YHM in the end because to me, it has the best cover (i just love the way jay sat on his "throne" XDD and his fingers are so nice there.. hahaha), 11 songs (which is one more than the usual perfect 10 XD), the album that i 1st managed to watched all of jay's MV, and of the 11 songs, all of them are so different from each other, rock, rap, weird, chinese, kungfu, sad, mad xDDD and i like the name.. so thoughtful to have it on behalf of Zhou Mama :happy:

one thing though, my all time fav song's not in there...

it's the one album that i will never grow sick listening to it. plus i cannot stop spinning my three FAVOURITEST songs from that album. although its his first album, me thinks its the best one .

I voted for Qi Li Xiang because it's the first full Jay album I've ever listened to. I like every song in that album except The Youth That Ends War which in my opinion is one of the drowsiest and most boring Jay songs ever.

Ye Hui Mei comes in a close second and Still Fantasy has to settle for third place.

In the end, I chose Fantasy as.. it is really the start of his music style. And I guess it becomes more apparent in Ye Hui Mei. For memory sake, I chose Fantasy.

teresa unnie, i'm so much like you! i got introduced to Jay's music through his 8D album... it was only released a couple of months before i bought it and played it 24/7 while i was in Hong Kong (in 2003 i guess?)

but Fantasy has those ol' school Jay music on it... like when i listen to Fantasy, it'll bring me back to those days when my fangirlism towards Jay was still so strong...

Although I was addicted to Jay since I heard the song Tornado from Jay Album, I'd have to say my favorite is November's Chopin. I like all the songs on it (unlike the other albums) and the quality of those songs are better.

My first Jay album was 8D... but Fantasy drew me into fangirlism... and YHM was me at the peak of fangirlism....

In the end I chose Fantasy... I think all the songs there are kick-ass and I used to play that album non-stop... even now, playing that album brings back so many memories...

Three years ago it would have been Yeh Hui Mei because of the melancholy mood of the album, and because that was the peak of my Jay Chou fandom, but lately it has been 8th Dimension because, for me, it's the transition from the light RnB to the heavier, polished style that he has carried through and improved upon. I also love the different styles that he tries in there, from the blending of rap and singing with Iron Box of the Island to the neat train thing and MinNan lyrics of Where is the Train Going to the ballad of Return to the Past.

i voted for november's chopin.. though fantasy is close at second place.... november's chopin was the album that i really looked forward to.. it was when the songs leaked out a long time before the release of the album i think and after that, i really asked my dad to preoder it in HK... we even asked my uncle to do it and send it to me along with the huge poster! i was soooo obsessed with him that time... and since its the only album i ever ever pre-ordered, it will forever have a special place in my heart hahaha.. and i love all the songs <333

I choosed November's Chopin :D ....Although my favorite song is Common Jasmin Orange and my first cd was that album...November's Chopin got me addict to Jay's music the second I heard it....It has great songs and most of them ballads and I love Jay's ballads....I haven't heard the oldest albums but I know they're all great too :wink2:

i had chosen Fantasy..i like the humble look of Jay during that period of time..he had really changed alot between Fantasy to 8 Dimension

i love almost every songs in the Fantasy album..and it was the album that caught my attention to support Jay...especially ai zai xi yuan qian...kai bu liao kou and AnQing

i remembered that time i could just watch AnQing MV for more than 10 times a day without getting sick of it..

i got alot of friends also start to support Jay since his Fantasy album...and i think that the album was really great

I didn;t vote as I loved Fantasy and Ye Hui Mei a lot! I think these 2 albums stood out a lot more than the others, because the Jay-flavour is super super strong. From heart-wreching ballads like An Jing to raps about certain themes such as Ti Tian and San Nian Er Ban and soft-rock ballads like Qing Tian as well as songs such as Ai Zai Si Yuan Qian and Ta De Jie Mao, Jay's style is truly distinctive, and I love all the songs in these 2 albums.

November's Chopin

this is the first album that i really paid attention to and got hooked on because of the song Drifting in the Initial D movie...

i wasn't a Jay fan before this album as i was more inclined to the songs of the West, and i won't be a member here if it wasn't for November's Chopin that made me realize his music talents...

My favourite has to be [叶惠美/Ye Hui Mei]. In this whole album, you could tell that there were different styles for the different tracks. I saw a lot of effort from Jay being put in this album.

He thought through the MVs really well and I guess this was when he hasn't started on his acting career so it was really focused. Although my most favourite Jay song so far didn't come from this album but my favourite song out of this album ... has to be 晴天/Qing Tian.

Fantasy is the album which make me addicted to Jay.
This is the best album, i love an jing, jian dan ai, dui bu qu, kai bu liao kou, etc.
Basically i love all of the songs in this album.

Ultimately, I think I went for his first album, though. "Ke Ai Nu Ren" is my favorite Jay song, period.

Who am I kidding, though? All of his albums are great and I have favorites from all of them. Favorite off November's Chopin is definitely "Nocturne."

EDIT: I've changed my mind sine I last typed this! Favorite album is Qi Li Xiang! There are just so many songs that I love from that album. Second fave is his debut album. :) Maybe his least polished album, but hands down his most earnest. He sounds really sweet in it too.

fantasy is the album that introduce me to jay's genius and yeh hui mei reafirms his superiority . his yhm - in the name of the father - incredible creativity .both albums so beloved but have to choose fantasy as without it i would not have known jay's music.

I choose Ye Hui Mei, simply because it's the first album that made me go "WOW", is this really Jay? And this album contains a variety of songs that Jay doesn't normally do. Some of the best songs were there, like Yi Fu Zhi Ming, Qing Tian, Dong Feng Po, Ni Ting De Dao, etc. The production of some songs were also excellent, like San Nian Er Ban, Ti Tian, Shuang Dao. And I personally love most of the MVs in this album.

Aw I love our polls. I like doing all these things that look at Jay's music over a big span of time. I guess it reminds me that even if Jay has changed now, nothing changes the past, the memories we have as fans are still the same.

It was really hard for me to choose between Ye Hui Mei and Fantasy (Plus!). I encountered both around the same time. It's when I listened to whole albums multiple times a day and was seriously addicted to j-c.net (and introduced to online forums, oh my). Fantasy holds the most memories and sentimental value though. It's not as refined or developed as Ye Hui Mei, but it still has Jay's "purity" and newness. His voice has more of that raw emotion and those songs are really classic.

I chose Jay's Album cos there are many great hits and I think I like all the songs inside! Fantasy is really good too but there are some which can get a little boring like kai bu liao kou... Hidden Track is nice but there are too few tracks~!

Definitely QLX! Almost every song in this album is pure genius - not a single wasted track. The album is full of elegance and poetic beauty. His other albums pale in comparison in terms of dynamics, overall sound and depth.

It is so hard to choose. I love them all. In terms of albums I think November's Chopin and Ye Hui Mei are really good. Out of all his songs Black Humour is the one i still like best and cannot seem to get tired of. :D

This was really hard actually, seeing that I love all of Jay's stuff. However, I voted for Still Fantasy because to me, there's a sort of magic to it. It's SO Jay and yet it's so different to the original Fantasy. It shows the path he's taken and it shows his growth as a musician.

Lets see... favorite album? For me it would be Ye Hui Mei. Firstly, Aaww! He named it after his mommy. Simply because most of my favorite songs are in that album -In the Name of the Father / Qing Tian / Deng Feng Po / Ni Ting De Dao / Her Eyelashes / Love Cliff / Terraced Field :happy:

I was hooked from the beginning of the album -that beautiful pretty feel of the in the name of the father intro? Loved it. Of course Qing Tian was beautiful. I LOVED loved loved the fact that Jay wrote the lyrics to them. I was always kind of disappointed that he had lyricists because I really wanted to hear Jay with Jay's words. I also love that... "rappy"? bit towards the end where he doesn't sing but kind of says the words? I know he does the whole rap thing for his fast songs but somehow it just fits really well in this love song context. Kind of nostalgic? Like he's thinking about this "从 前 从 前 cong qian cong qian ".. telling the story of how the evil mean girl! in the song left him. (I don't like to see my Jay hurt :-x ) And then Love Cliffjust hit me. Pierced through me! Right smack! in the Joei. Its so... Jay is so vulnerable in it so.... :cry: JAAAAAAAAY! The first time I heard that song was in the "Incomparable" concert? Jay sitting at the piano in his suit singing that song... Just...:cry: again. It was very prince charming you know? Like... OH I just lOOOOVe that song. OOoooo and I also SOO love Terraced Field Again lyrics by Jay -I love. I love the "Hoi Ya E Ya Naluwan Na E Na Ya Hei!!! So beautiful.

Hm.... Okay considering the fact that I've used the word"love"......(counting).................... 8 times to describe this album. I'd say that pretty much sums up why I "LOVE!" this album so much.

His first and second album are still the best. songs like 'ke ai nu ren', 'long juan feng', kai bu liao kou', an jing' etc. He made a big whu-ha became popular after the 2nd album fantasy.

wow, just noticed this thread. Voted YHM cos I just love the Jay style in it!
I love Qing Tian and Yi Fu Zhi Ming a lot.. The production is also fabulous.
Other favourites are Fantasy and Nov Chopin. These happened to be the even numbered albums haha.
