View Full Version : JCNet Needs Siblings! VOTE for an artist you want to see a JCNet spinoff on...

OK I've taken the suggestions from the other thread, and here are the artists that got the most mentions. All Chinese, all guys, interesting.
This poll is open to EVERYONE, even non-registered members of JCNet. So I begrudgingly encourage you to tell your friends to vote, even if they don't use JCNet, they may use the new spinoff site, so it'd be of great help to know what the demand out there is for...
Also, I want to say, this poll is for me to gauge interest. Just because an artist gets the most votes doesn't mean they will automatically get a site. I have to factor in time, money, work, feasibility, etc. into it as well. I will probably take the top 5 into consideration.
Please only vote once, once again, the artist with the most vote doesn't = automatic win, so there's no point in cheating.
To me it doesn't matter old artist or new artist anymore, I just want to create a successful site for a popular artist.

although , i'm supporting Alan Luo, and JJ.
but i think Wang Lee Hom will make you a successful site .
Cao Ge and TANK can take in consideration too, as they will shine in a years time or 2. and more importantly Cao Ge and TANK's fans are growing, and they doesnt had a international site too?
(:
hope you see in my post (:

Well I voted for Fahrenheit. Would've voted for Tank too, but then, I'm more of a FeiFei fan
& of course, we might wanna step out of a site for a soloist, & do up one for a band instead :-)
Random; Oh look what biased fangirls we are. Where have all the female artistes gone to?

Leehom would be a good choice tho' he's kinda "old".
I personally would love a nice clean site on Fahrenheit. It's probably a passing fad for me, but I am a crazy about them atm. Going to their english fansites drives me insane. You know how I am a neat freak. Then again, there's no gurantee that they'd last. They just may fizzle out like most TW boybands do. So far the only successful TW group is SHE. They lasted much longer than anyone imagined. I should say they are going from strength to strength.
:hmm: No korean boys on the list eh?

JJ hands down, Leehom may be more popular, but I think he already has a sturdy fanbase online with resources and is already fairly established. I'd love to see there be a good resource for JJ who is dynamic and talented but isn't as established or well-known.
My second choice would be Nan Quan Mama which seems to finally be coming into their own with their latest album, and obviously are closely connected to Jay

Well..I really support Gary Cao Ge and JJ Lin! They are really a new generation of good singer. Their singing is great, perfomance and etc.
But.. after I think for a long time, my decision goes to Lee Hom. Lee Hom had been long enough at the celebrity circle. He is still everyone favourites although his new album is not out yet.

you didnt vote leehom!? i'm SHOCKED! this can't be the real singerchick... hahaha
:lolabove: I thought the EXACT same thing.
I gave my vote to Lee Hom. I know he's got various sites on the net but I cannot find a site that's similar to this one in terms of user-friendliness, etc etc anywhere. Pray tell if there's one!

well, since this new spinoff sister site should be for a new artists, i picked tank. he's pretty new, he entered the entertainment industry only 1-2 years ago. he only released one album so far, and i'm impressed. he has lots of great songs in his first album already. i think he's really talented, and he needs lots more attention. so, i voted for tank! ^_^

Wow!sister site for Jcnet..haha great:D
well for me,its hard to choose!!!everyone is great..for example Gary,Michael, and JJ..none the less LEEHOM<3 but the only one which pops into my mind is Show Luo

I wasn't sure about voting for Gary Cao Ge so I voted for Wang Lee Hom instead. They're both talented and popular but I believe Lee Hom can pull off a successful international site with ease.

I voted for zhu-gege aka Mr Show Luo. :D
he sings, he dances, he hosts, he acts, he writes. there's nothing this guy can't do. he's been in the entertainment scene for the past 13 years, and he's gaining popularity in the States too.
if Show doesn't get it, i'm hoping Junjie or Gary can. cos they're really talented songwriters and singers who deserve to be known to the world.
oh yah, by the way, it looks like jcnet's gonna hava a BROTHER-SITE instead. okay, being dumb here.

i voted for jj lin cause i feel that he's a really good composer and has a strong vocal. i couldnt really find an established site on him and i feel that a talented singer like him deserve an international site.
tank and gary are my favourite choices to win this poll too, they wrote songs that are fantastic, plus i believe they are slowly rising to be among one of asia's pop princes. they deserve some recognition from the world too.

I voted for FeiFei they are the new hit right now and im jsut in love with them too so it makes sense for me to like them. I think they have just begun therefore i believe taht they have potential to become the sister site. Yeah i thought about wang lee hom but then XD FeiFei won my vote over

I voted for Show. He's huge right now and I think he's a well-rounded and talented artist. He's someone that I am interested in, not just as an artist, but as a person as well. So my vote goes to him.
I was thinking also of casting my vote for TANK or JJ, but while they're great musicians, I don't care as much about them beyond music.
And as much as I love Fahreheit, I don't know how successful a site on them would be...but I'll just keep the reasons to myself. *hides*

my poor mayday *sniffs*
i believe in you, boys!!!
but i don't think i would mind seeing an international fan site for show. i think he's hilarious and kind of dorky.
i hope there's not another lee hom site though. he already has a lot of english fan sites from what i could see.

I would say JJ would make an awesome fan site. I'm sure there's plenty english based leehom site out there, so no point competing with them

i voted for wang lee hom because i like his songs...i want to learn things from him like when he was born, etc. i like ai cuo and many more of his songs. =]

01-03-2007, 01:34 PM
i voted for nan quan mama.
because thinking of a sibling for JCnet, NQMM pops up automatically in my mind.
maybe because they are somehow related in reality! :)
i voted fei lun hai. why? cuz there are 4 gd looking guys. so more eye candy. yay!! never mind if they cant sing as well as certain artistes. they are chilli pepper hot right now (esp wu zun).

I'm torn, really torn.
I am in a dilemma; Show or Feifei?
I love Feifei, but Show's gonna be a big hit.
Nevermind, I shall vote for Feifei. <3 I just love them too much to not vote for them.
My vote goes to Fahrenheit <3! :D

i chose alan luo because he is my idol. lee hom would be a good choice to me but i also think that it's a lot easier to find information/pics/lyrics for wang lee hom online and so it's not really needed to have a spin off site for him.
yukiko
01-04-2007, 07:29 AM
voted for wang lee hom.
why? because i like him most among the others. he got the talents, he got the handsome face, he's hot,
but so far, i never found any site about him that can serve me best. can say that im so lack of info about him, and i would be very happy if he can be the sibling of JCNET, as success as JCnet as well
thanks karen
hopefully i can be active in both forum in future. ^^

 you didnt vote leehom!? i'm SHOCKED! this can't be the real singerchick... hahaha
Lol, I don't extreme Leehom fangirl every second of my life. HAHA.
But am actually objective when it comes to two equally talented musicians (i.e Leehom and Gary ). Anyway, it's so hard to find stuff on Gary and as much as I would love to spaz about Leehom on another site, I think Gary NEEDS one more.

Lol,i vote for NanQuan Mama, coz they're the students of Jay and brought by Jay too. So,if brought by Jay that's mean they're have the same creative or whatever Jay have!!So that's why i vote for Nan Uan Mama.

Voted for Farenheit!!
Reason: I'm beginning to like them quite a lot, possibly their recent appearances on dramas & their songs are quite nice too. They have the makings of F4, I feel.

Fahrenheit. I was a bit hesitant to vote for them bcos they are a boyband and well.. who knows how long a boyband can last? BUT.... they are really adorable!!!! And when was the last time we had a boyband who didn't annoy the hell out of us or who lacked group charisma? WHEN?!?!
But anyway, my vote goes to fahrenheit. Mayday is not bad too but their fans are more of the sensible sort (read:non fangirls sort) so it might be hard to maintain the site. Evan Yo's not too bad either.

I voted for Lee Hom. I don't know if there's an international site for Lee Hom as successful as jc.net, but I thought if jc.net can help create a sister site for Lee Hom, it would be a great step in helping him fulfilling his dream - to bring Chinese music to the world. You guys have been so great in running this huge international project, just hope that you can also help to spread this talented Chinese musician around the world.

I voted for TANK since he just arrived last year and wrote songs for some good artists like Wilber Pan and S.H.E. He has great potential and talent.
I was hesitating about Gary too, but I chose TANK anyways.
I was hoping that Pan Wei Bo would be on the list - next the Jay Chou, he's my favorite (gotta love his dancing and bihumanbu), but ah well. Looks like Wang Lee Hom is going to win ... I voted for JJ Lin since of the ones on the list, he's the one I am most familiar with. I have to check out Wang Lee Hom's music now ... apparently he's good ^^
can't wait for the sister site!

ah...my goodness a lot of people voted for Wang Lee Hom. I almost did, but then I decided there are too many forums on him anyways and I don't see enough of JJ, so I definitely go for Lin Jun Jie.

I voted for show because he is simply hilarious. Thought of voting for Leehom, but I think there're far too many English sites and fansites/clubsites in English devoted to Leehom. It'll defeat the purpose of having yet another site dedicated to him. But that's just me. No offence meant to leehom fans here.

my vote for NQMM.
the big reason would still be , yea, they are afterall, a band setup by Jay. So a sister site for JCNET, would be NQMM Net.
however, i would also very much like to see a nice english site for Tank! he's a talent! and he deserve a website and our time :D

i went for lee hom.
i agree with what ene and yenny1106 said - it would help towards his dream of letting his music spread internationally, and although there are some existing english lee hom sites, they don't really compare with jcnet (the ones i've come across anyway).

That's what I was thinking too. I wanted to vote for someone that doesn't really have any English fansites already, since the sister site would probably be less succesful if there was already a nice, established site before it. [even though there aren't very many GOOD ones, there are some SITES..]
I voted for Nan Quan Mama, since they're more related to Jay , but [b]Show [Alan] Luo came in a close second for me.

wow! there are seriously many Lee Hom supporters lurking around our forums here.. haha!
anyway, i was kinda surprised that David Tao wasn't included in the poll. i would consider David Tao, Wang Lee Hom, JJ Lin and Jay Chou as the newly-crowned Four Heavenly Kings (although this might not true for everyone else out there, but no offense to any supporters of other artistes).
so a sister forum of anyone of them would be appropriate, which will guarantee that the forum will be lively and active for a long time, just like our forum!

I'm suprised no female artistes made it.
I voted for TANK, I would've voted for FLH but for some reason I like TANK's music more.
Didn't consider Lee Hom because he is fairly established, having released 10+ albums.
I would like the spinoff site for someone that's fresh and is only just trying to establish themselves.

Leehom has enough fandom in my opinion, cuz he's hawt, smart, talented and sings well etc...gets kinda tiresome really...So the more dorky-cute and also multi-talented JJ gets my vote, well that and JJ > Leehom in my perspective, cuz he doesn't have the dashing good looks, but my god. THAT VOICE. what can I say? kills me everytime.

I think David Tao already has an English based forum. But it's his own website with his blog and multimedia stuff in it. There's definitely a forum though.
JJ endorses Sprite whil Wilber endorses Coke
Isn't Sprite and Coke part of the same company? It's like Jay endorsing Pepsi and Jolin endorsing Mountain Dew XD
I'm suprised Alan Luo has so many supporters. Can't quite grasp which part of him is actually talented. I've only ever liked him as a television host. No offence to Show supporters out there.

I'm not sure why Alan Luo is so popular either >.<
I see Lee Hom, JJ Lin, Jay, Gary, Stanley Huang (whom I regret not putting an option for after hearing his latest album) as musicians, to name a few.
And I view Alan Luo as more of an entertainer, as I'm assuming he doesn't do most of his lyrics/music, or any at all...correct me if that is wrong.
Personally I look forward to having a site for an artist that can speak/read/write English fluently as well. It'd be nice to be recognized ya know.
I see that Lee Hom is very popular, no surprise. And I'm glad to see JJ up there as well.

My vote goes to Wang Lee Hom. Even though he's old, everyone knew him and he's still a favourite cutie. JJ lin would be good too!
Wouldn't a sister site of JCnet be that of someone who's close to Jay Chou?
Using that logic, I'd choose NQMM. They're, afterall, really close to Jay Chou, the teacher-student relationship, and their songs were awesome, plus there isn't any English-international site based on them yet, right?

honestly it comes down to the big name players in the chinese music industry. if it isnt wang lee hom then it has to be david tao. next to jay, they work the hardest in the music biz, not to mention an extreme amount of talent. though i think ppl like jjlin and tank write excellent songs and sell realllllllly well, they arent at the megastar level like leehom or jay.

My guess is the fact that he's recently released his album ... and also that he's got a greater news visibility. And it's not surprising that we have Jay fans who are also Alan's fans since Jay and Alan are buddies. Also since this poll has been opened up to non-JC.net members, we might have people who are Alan's fans who visit this site also.

Alan Luo gets a lot of exposure because he regularly hosts 100% entertainment. I wouldn't say he's completely talentless, he is good at hosting and dancing. And I do think he is quite good-looking. Hence it is not surprising that lots of people like him. As much as I like Alan, I don't think a site for him would go far. It will probably just be fan girls uploading episodes of his 100% entertainment everyday.
Personally I look forward to having a site for an artist that can speak/read/write English fluently as well. It'd be nice to be recognized ya know.

Show does write his own songs. of course he's not like Junjie or Gary Cao but still, his talents can be clearly seen in dancing, acting, hosting and singing. he's an example of an all-rounded artiste. plus, the title of the poll is VOTE for an artist you want to see a JCNet spinoff on...
therefore i don't see why a SO-CALLED 'entertainer' shouldn't be included in the poll. if jcnet's siblingnet should be one for a talented artiste then i don't see why feifei's here. they can't write songs, for starters. (neither can they sing nor dance.) and guang liang can sing really well but he doesn't write all his songs either.
i don't really care who gets the site, i mean, hey, all the artistes in the poll like Mayday, Tank, Junjie, Gary etc are so super good they should all get their own forum. but i just can't agree with why zhu sounds like a good-for-nothing.

guys..i'm SO)O gonna correct you..you say he aint talent eh?:-x then you're telling me that being tops in 9 song charts is crap?!?!?!he is a singer..he is multi-talented and just for your info..jay and zhu goes a L0o0ng way back compared to nan quan mama..and even though dan tou and yu hao konws jay frm uni, its obvious that xiaozhu and jay and best of friends while nqmm and jay are more of a colleague relationship..i'm betting jay offered to help xiaozhu with his music career but xiaozhu rejects it..want to know why?cos xiaozhu does NOt want to depend on jay..unlike nan quan mama .(ex.concerts)
what i'm trying to state here is dont be so0o biased against xiaozhu's singing..he is not as bad as you think..plz go and think about it again ..:profanit:

plus, the title of the poll is

Of course it is, I wrote it so why wouldn't I realize that?
if jcnet's siblingnet should be one for a talented artiste then i don't see why feifei's here
Because that's what the public demanded be included in the poll. Same as Alan.
Besides, it's normal for people to come and defend their artist, but the point of this thread is not to attack and get angry at comments. This is an opportunity for you guys to tell us all the great things about your artist.
I would have said the same thing if FLH got an unusual amount of vote (ie. what is it about them that I don't know about, I don't live in China or Taiwan so I rely on those that do to tell me). Which is why I asked you to correct me if I was wrong about Alan. I never once said he sucked, was a good for nothing, couldn't sing, danced like a monkey, etc...
I called him an entertainer, that's a compliment in itself. I know you guys don't care if Alan doesn't get the site, so just drop it and cool down. You don't want to make his fans look bad, or like a bunch of rabid fan girls who attack at any semi-negative comments about their beloved artist.
And if anything in this post made you angry, well you're taking it too seriously.
And I'm waiting for 500 votes, I've watched the results progress this entire time, and it's pretty much stayed constant with Lee Hom in the lead, Alan and JJ Lin head to head, with JJ moving into the lead. NQMM catching up to Alan and FLH after.

What's wrong with calling Show an entertainer moreso than an artist? I'm sure he'd agree with the notion, that's what he does, he entertains. People like Nan Quan Mama, JJ Lin and Leehom, they're best known for their music, and while yes Show releases music and takes it seriously, it's not what he's best known or loved for.
Myself personally, I love Show but not really his music while artists like JJ and NQMM I've only come to love and appreciate after they further developed themselves as artists. There's nothing wrong with that, no one said anything offensive about Show, some people just need to calm down.
I just hope the ultimate decision is made soon! No matter which artist it is, I'll join immediately lolz. JCnet is awesome so I'm sure that the sister site will be great also! but I wish it would happen sooner rather than later ... the suspense is killer lolz

karen- actually i was fine with what everyone says about show. the only thing that i didn't like was this:
I'm suprised Alan Luo has so many supporters. Can't quite grasp which part of him is actually talented. I've only ever liked him as a television host.
and
It will probably just be fan girls uploading episodes of his 100% entertainment everyday.
entertainer or no-entertainer it's fine. talented or talentless, show will prove it himself.
and... okay, i suppose in my previous post i've already corrected every wrong perception of him. & no i'm not rabid. *thinks about my fangirl award LOL* it's just passion. just kidding. aiee. :bounce:
oh i just saw something else. Show is not an entertainer. He is an artiste. i checked the dictionary. this is what it says.
Entertainer= a person, such as a singer, dancer, comedian, whose job is to entertain others.
Artiste= a professional entertainer, esp. a singer or a dancer.
some people just need to calm down.

*meow I'm sorry if what I said offended you. I honestly have nothing against Xiao Zhu, and I actually enjoy watching 100% Entertainment very much especially when Xiao Zhu hosts it.
But it is really my honest opinion that there is little point in starting a Xiao Zhu spinoff site. In saying that, I'm in no way suggesting that he is talentless. Actually, if I were to share my honest thoughts, I bet I would offend more than 3/4 of the people here. Some of the reasons people in this poll have given to support their decision as to why they want their favourite artiste to have a site is really unconvincing.

I think Tank would be a worthy choice. He is popular, but not THAT popular yet, and he have a lot of potential in him. I love most of his composed songs. I think he deserve more fame that what he has currently and since there isnt many Tank fansites around, it will be actually good to have one =)
I think individuals like JJLin and LeeHom have alot of fansites/forum already yeah?

dazzy- nono... i'm fine with your & cinsin's (i've quoted from both of you) opinions. it's just that the part about the 100% thingy is so not true, or rather, we won't know if it's true or not. and i so do not like assumptions. that was why i quoted that part. yeah.
& about zhu forums... his chinese international forum is just like here, minus the banner rules and stuff (which happens to make me not like that site)... and it's messier than jcnet. if only all forums are like jcnet. it'll be world peace.
okay i shall make myself clear once and for all. i seriously don't really care if anyone hates zhu. it's just that, if i see assumptions about him that aren't true, i will definitely say something about it. it just so happens that my tone ain't very friendly. and i'll apologize for that.

Ahh.. Seems like Lee Hom is leading.. Sigh..
I really want Alan to get the site.. And if Karen says this is the right chance to tell all the fabulous stuff about our favourite artist, well here I go..........
1) He can sing really well.. He's got a really good voice, you'll know that if you listen to his songs.. He's not some kind of entertainer who only knows how to tell jokes and dance around..
2) He dances really well too.. Well this point's really obvious.. All the dances in his mvs rock!! The dance movements are obviously quite hard..
3) He's a good host. Every episode of Yu le bai fen bai with him hosting never fails to make me laugh.. His jokes are really funny..
4) His compositions are nice. He does compose songs, but not much.. Yea..
That's quite all.. I don't want to write in too much lest everyone thinks I'm a crazy fangirl or something.. :-)

i voted awhile ago but never got to post my opinion till now.
i voted for alan luo, cuz he's kinda new and got some talents-singing+dancing. but more i think of it, leehom spinoff site isnt so bad. if you look at it, despite leehom's increasing popularity these past years, having a leehom site will boost up alot of members. and the site being in english, leehom's fans are all over the place while some of the newer candidates we have on the list, they have fewer fans in the western world.
but yea, since we're going for a 'new' artist, i picked alan luo and wanna see how his popularity will go.

I chose Evan Yo because I think he has huge potential and an English site for him will help raise his popularity. Also he fits into the same category as Jay - singer/songwriter.

i voted JJ Lin.
i know Leehom is popular and all
but lately he hasn't been so famous..
AND he's a bit old
AND a lot of jay chou fans don't like him
so it would be ironic to have a
"sister site" with him..
you know?
anyhoo. JJ is also a great artist
and i voted for him =)

I like lee hom' talents.
I vote for lee hom.
I saw his heroes of earth concert and he show off his skill in playing some musical instruments.
I like that.
His songs are good also.

it has to be Wang Lee Hom!!!!!!!
JJ Lin also deserves a perfect fan site, but Lee Hom beats them all xD

I voted for TANK. His songs are really good and he is a pretty new artist. I love all his songs. I think more people need to listen to his music. I would love to see a fabulous english website/forum for him. ^_^
Even though I'm a huge fan of Aaron Yan (亚纶), I think Farenheit still needs more work. Although their 'look' is really good I think their vocal really needs improvement.
Although LeeHom would make a successful english fan forum, I think there are already many websites dedicated to him, and many of them are very good.
On a second thought, NanQuan Mama are good as well ^_^ (I love Yuhao!!)

Hahas. Tank is kewt (Jay Chou is always cuter, sowwie) and JJ Lin's voice is like an angel. So I have to choose JJ Lin. His voice is good and he isnt that cute but then not to compare or anything.
While I absolutely adore TANK, I feel JJ Lin's still not getting the amount of exposure and support that his talent deserves, so he gets my vote.

It would be great if JCNet expands w/ the in depth translations of news and songs regarding the next big artist, whoever it may be. My vote went to Wong Lee Hom

OMG OMG OMG YEAH!
when the poll just started, he had embarrassingly few votes as compared to lee hom. it was like 30+% compared to 10+%. NOW HE'S LEADING!
Junjie can sing, can write, can dance, can play the piano, can strum the guitar... What's there not to like about him? :D (& the best thing is that i'm so happy that a singaporean is getting so much recognition.)

wow...I'm surprised to see JJ catch up so fast. Looking at the votes, it seems alot of Guest votes came in at the last moment.
As much as people like Alan Luo, I believe another JCNet member is creating an English site for him, as he's told me.
I like Lee Hom too and wouldn't mind creating a site for him, but thinking about it, he's had over 10+ albums..that's a huge backlog of translations we've got to put together and provide.
NQMM seems like an obvious choice being Jay's juniors and all. But the problem with bands is that sometimes they dis-band. I can easily see Lara trying to go solo at some point. Plus, Alfa just does a horrible job promoting their artists, unless of course it's Jay.
I like JJ the best, not too old, not too new. He's had what, like 4 albums or something? 2 of which we've already got entirely translated. And supposedly very big in China right now. And I wouldn't be shocked if he tried to break into the Japanese or Korean market. He speaks English, and is definitely talented. An all around perfect candidate.
I think we'll start with the JJ site, and if there are available server resources, we may add on a few of the other popular choices.

while not my fave band/artist.. i think Nan Quan Mama is a good sister site for a Jay chou fan sister site seeing as how they are closely affiliated with him..
but if i could vote again.. i'd say leeHom Wang as well.. if you're aiming for a site that would be popular
just my two cents ^^
