For Jay's fans only
Track is stamped all over with his signature ditties
DON'T be misled by the Chinese translation of the latest Hong Kong romantic flick, Hidden Track "xun zhao zhou jie jun", which translates into "Searching for Jay Chou". Truth be told, Taiwanese rhythm and blues king Jay has a cameo that lasts 10 minutes.
.
Still, Jay's "presence" is everywhere. Track is stamped all over with Jay's signature ditties that you almost thought you were watching a lengthy music video instead.
.
Track centres on a young heart-broken girl, Po po (Po po) who goes in search of a hidden song which is found only on a limited number of Jay's albums.
.
The track reminds her of a lost love. And, in her quest, she meets different individuals: The lonely and eccentric record store owner Yu (Shawn Yue), crystal shop owner Paul (Eason Chan), Casanova Joe (David Wu), sexy cab-driver Susan (Denise Ho), swoon-worthy traffic cop cum mama's boy Man (Daniel Wu) and gay Ben (Ah Niu)
.
Through Po po's encounters, director Aubrey Lam of Twelve Nights fame presents different notions of modern love and romance. The episodic format and quirky tone, coupled with fresh-faced, wide-eyed ingenue, Po po's antics remind one of Ameli้ and French actress Audrey Tautou.
.
But the whimsical Track possesses neither the visual vivaciousness nor the impressionable, sparkling characters that made that French movie so unforgettable.
.
And, unlike the hip and thoughtful Twelve Nights starring Cecilia Cheung and Eason which was Aubrey's directorial debut Track's characters border more on being self-centred and unsympathetic.
.
For Jay's fans only yes, those who just cannot get enough of his ditties. Serene Foo
The Writer gave the movie 2 stars out of 5 stars.

*Grins* Of course she's right! I bet most of the audience were Jay's fans. The storyline isn't all that good anyway. I went to see it only because of Jay! Man, he so diao! Someone in the cinema screamed... No such thing with Shawn Yue or the others... Ah, this only goes to show just how much Jay is adored by us...

I saw the movie tonight! Just now. IT SUCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Omg except for a few funny scenes, I thought it was horrible!! But I screamed out loud when Jay appeared, and then I thought it was the best movie in the entire universe. The editing was bad, the acting was blah, NICOLAS TSE is in it too, for about 5 minutes. He says nothing and just shows off his hot bod and has sex with some girl in a bathroom.
Anyways, no matter what, the movie was still worth it for me. That last 11 minutes with Jay in it was good, I loved it!! He kicks a vending machine and all this candy comes out, and he goes, "I'm broken hearted."
OMG I LOOOVVVVVVVVVVVVEEED ITT!!
PLUS, I just bought the VCD AND the DVD of the movie. (It's pirated, of course, but its the real movie, not some theatre videotaped version).
I'm getting the soundtrack tomorrow.
No, the show is not sucked... there's actually a meaning behind this show.. This Pupu, she found what she is actually looking for. Not Jay's CD, but that guy but she actually need. She went thru so much... met different type of people who listens to different genre of music.. but what she actually looking for is another love to replace the feeling she have lost. And one last thing about this movie, all round things gives Happiness!
I love Jay's expression when he said he wanted to eat that white round thing on pupu's earring. (这可以吃吗?)

i didn't watch the movie yet, so i can't criticize... but i did see "twelve nights" and it was so boring... i was hoping that this one will be better... i guess i have to give my hopes up.
JAY'S IN IT FOR 11 MINS?!... i thought it was suppose to be 5?... i'm not complaining, but that and his songs will be the only things i'll be looking forward to when i buy the VCD or DVD.

im so jealous of those of you who have seen jay's big screen debut!! but from the reviews and comments that i've read, the movie as a whole really isn't much to look forward to. HK films nowadays are so superficial, just a bunch of idols that people want to support so that they could bring the $$ in at the box office. but lately, there has been no depth or meaning in any of the HK films (except maybe Infernal Affairs part 1). i mean it's just a bunch of rushed production to cheat fan's money!! :-x
[quote="Chun Li"] NICOLAS TSE is in it too, for about 5 minutes. He says nothing and just shows off his hot bod and has sex with some girl in a bathroom.
ooooooh ... nicholas tse is yummy!! i could probably imagine that jay is pretty hot in the movie too but i guess i'll have to wait for the DVD/VCD to come out

the plot is quite confusing... didn't really get it. haha but they played quite a lot of jay's songs yeah? esp 'gui ji'... played more than 3 times i think :) haha i really liked the scene where there were more than 50 jays on the screen... so cool :) and the ending! when he attacked the vending machine... so cute!!! :D i screamed 'zhou jie lun' when he appearred... ahaha. think pple just went to watch Jay's acting... 'cause i saw 6 guys wearing caps throughout the whole movie... and pple dun normally wear caps during a movie do they? :) :D JAY ROCKS!!!
yeap, have seen the reviews for the movie, have not watched it yet. but am waiting for the VCD to come out. does anyone know when that would be?

come on it's not thaaaaaaat bad....
i just watched it today. i had to say it was really really funny!
but the animated parts were wierd. i had no idea why it was there. and the whole thing is really quite confusing. besides...the jay part wasn't even needed, the fact that it was added at the end made it even more confusing...popo became a waitress? how come jay used funny utensils to eat the different cakes? i dun really get those parts. but i loved the part where popo bought all of jay's cds and they played 'ban shou ren' 'ai zai xi yuan qian' 'xing qing' and 'hui dao guo qu' at the background...i was just singing along to it! i also loved alll the parts where gui ji was the background music. overall, i have to say the plot was confusing and it was really jay and his music which was interesting.
(btw, there were a few old ladies sitting behind me and when jay appeared one was telling the others:'see? that's jay chou. he's a famous singer!' )

Noooo his 'big screen debut' didn't last for eleven minutes, it wasn't even FIVE minutes long. More like it was three minutes, I wanted more and the stupid movie ended.
I'm sure there was a meaning behind the show but I thought it was lost in its silly pretentiousness and who really cared when all they wanted to get from the show was JIELUN??? I lost track of how many times I checked my watch. I couldn't care LESS about Poo Poo's adventures and her irritating 'wo shi lian le' whinings, I wanted to see Jielun and that was all I was in for.
A suggestion to those who haven't seen the movie: Buy the ticket, but go into the cinema during the last five minutes. The rest of the movie isn't worth it.

wait. so he's in it for 11 minutes? 5? or 3? i'm so confused. all of u guys watched it but u saw him for diff lenghts? :glug:
neway...yeah, no offense but lots of hk/azn movies i don't really get. like they're a bit too artsy for me. like...princessD. i did not get that movie at all. but jaycee is right. a lot of the movies they have out have no real substance and it's all about the artist. argh...i get so mad when i rent chinese movies sometimes because it's just so not coordinated well. i hope i can watch it anyway..anything for jay...*melts*

i just saw it last night...and i grabbed my sisters and my mum to watch it with me..hehe  my mum thought it was quite ok..and my sisters thought it wasn't too bad :wink2: i thought it was ...ok....(somewhere between ok and good  )..
story-wise i think 'twelfth night' was better..in terms of talking about love relationships..
but the acting was great (i don't like shawn yu but i thought he did a good job..hee)
i agree with chun li about the film's poor editing...
btw...that guy at the petrol station wasn't nicholas tse...
