As we all know, the music industry is shrinking(in terms of album sales).Singers now need to do other side jobs like acting and rely a lot on endossments for money. Will this industry become like any other ones in years to come? Will singers become somewhat a normal job like any other?

Wow, I've never heard of the music industry "shrinking" before. This is fairly new to me. I have a feeling it's because of people downloading free songs, pirating, and all that other stuff. I have many many MANY friends who download movies and songs, thinking it's okay to do so. I'm sure that many of us here on jchou.net have committed this....crime. I also heard about the U.S. trying to tell China to create a law that prohibits pirating. This could have been a rumor - I don't know. =P

But what do you mean by "will this industry become like any other ones in years to come?" What are these "other industries?" Could you elaborate on that?

modly note:

please make your post more descriptive and give us something to debate and something that states your opinion and hopefully sources to back it up.

because we have nothing to talk about here.

please refrain from responding to this thread until the original poster has edited the first post, then this post will be deleted and you guys can continue talking.

Let me just add this...

Fundamentals of a debate:

1) Claim Statement (clearly state your claim with one big sentence)

2) Support (give several supporting finds or proof to your claim statement)

3) Warrant (give your final call of the claim and state your side of the battle clearly; and make sure you're making sense correlating the claim, support, and warrant statements)

This is a general rule for a debate, I think mods should make this a constitution.

I'm sorry for making such vague statements. Is it ok for the mods to close this topic first.i myself like to find more evidence.
My general stand is that the industry is definately shrinking in terms of the money singers make from Cd sales due to a worldwide decline in the sales of CDs and the surge in piracy. But most of these was from what I heard in shows or read from some sources which I have forgotten about. So maybe until I can refer to sources to show people clearly what I want to convey, the topic should be closed.
