A mystery I suppose. I never heard of him admit anything about his belief. Therefore, we'll discuss about this matter! :brows:

Well, whatever religion Jay belongs to, he can always indulge in chocolate during the Easter holidays right??...I guess it's time I admitted to my chocolate sins....

Hey that is a good question.. we never hear anything about Jay's religion in the media or stuff. :?

Not that's it's really important, but just out of curiosity.. xD

I picked Buddhism, but I don't know. What is the main religion in Taiwan? :glug:

lonely_boy
11-29-2006, 04:27 AM
All of the above. That's why I only put those out of all the other religions. Otherwise, I would included Hiduism, Muslim, Catholic, blah, blah , blah

Oh so there's like an even amount of all of those? :glug: That makes it even more hard to say.. because you have to keep in mind his upbringing & traditional family religion, his personality.. etc.

I guess we'll never know for certain until he comes out & says it point-blank, but it's fun to theorize meanwhile. :D

Edit//
Did you leave out atheist on purpose? :?

i think jay is buddism. i dont know why.
But i think he isn't Christian because of the things he puts in his songs like people dying and the song "Yi Fu Zhi Ming"
but on the other hand, his mom YHM is Christian.... so that's just confusing

But maybe he is athiest.... im not sure...

Hmm he might be Christian because his mother was a christian, but he has never talked about it. So i'l say his Christian.

gahhh im the only one who put him for taoism so far! i just heard this somewhere before! i don't know where! but his ring has something to do with his religion, that's for sure!

It's surprising these kind of stuff never do get to the media. But I should think Christianity. Cause he dresses sometimes with the cross and all.

i personally tik he's a free thinker lolx.

his song yi fu zhi ming, made him sound like he's a christian. but from his family background, it's less likely for that to happen.

I voted for Buddhism. Maybe, his a free thinker? I don't know. By the way, what is this religion (Taoism)? I never heard of this religion before. No offence.

I am not too sure of his religion as well. I chose Christianity because his mum is a Christian (although it does not mean that he will be one). Maybe she would have some influence on him. It is just a wild guess!

Erm am i wrong? I always thought he was as christian! or is it not?

I picked traditional religion... but I guess he's a person who doesnt really care much about religion...I think he's someone who just pick the good from each religion and believes more in the kindness of the heart :)

if my sources are correct, i believe jay is actually christian because his mom is and he and his mom often exchange crosses as presents to protect each other.

Sorry for my stupidity, but what's atheist? No offense, guys.

xD It's okay.

Atheism is like when you don't believe in a Higher Power. Not to be confused with agnosticism, which is when you think there might be a Higher Power, but you're not sure because it's impossible to be certain of stuff like that. :wink2:

i think maybe he's a christian cuz his mother is also christian too and he likes to wear a cross many times. but don't know la.. never see he talks about this to the media. ^^

i've owes tot he's a christian..isn't he???he's owes weaing some cross necklace rite?haha..any1 wit d real ans???

li shan

though jay's mom is a christian, i don't think jay is, and i think he wears the cross purely as an accessory. i read his mom never imposed the christian religion on him, but jay is aware that his mom wants him to be a christian, and i think this is quite a struggle for him. besides, being a christian, i would prefer jay to become a christian in his own terms and not just because his mom wants him to be one.

i personally think jay is an agnostic, if not an athiest, and if he does adhere to certain practices (maybe buddhist or taoist), it would be just out of tradition and not exactly as a form of adherence to whatever religion that certain practice belongs to. come to think of it, i think jay believes more on his 'diao philosophy' more than anything lol

11-30-2006, 04:04 PM
Well i have no idea about his religion as he never disclose or spoken about his religion..well but as we all know that his mom is a christian,so i would think he might ahve the same religion as his mom hehe:happy:

I guess he's a free thinker since he never seems to mention religion..

My guess is that he's a free-thinker too. :-)

lonely_boy

Well Christianity is winning. However, guys, wearing crosses may not be meaning that the person is Christian. Just a teeny tiny reminder.

But I still don't get what's a atheist...

v3rmillion
12-01-2006, 05:13 AM
I'm guessing some kind of traditional mix. With the whole diao/filial son/etc. stuff, he's seems pretty traditional Chinese culture oriented.
but it's definitely true his mom's Christian. My friend's parents attend the same church as her in Taiwan, and their pastor gets her to have Jay sign CDs and stuff for the church. (so in that case, Jay doesn't attend church with his mom? otherwise the pastor would just hand it directly to Jay...just a theory...)

lonely_boy
12-02-2006, 01:33 AM
Attending the same church as Jay's mom? Whoa, I am going to be Christian for Jay to sign my stuff! j/k

Saharial
12-02-2006, 02:03 PM
I think he's probably more a free thinker, but i put traditional.

though i expect he's more 'diao-ist' than 'dao-ist'

I bet if I put "None of the above" choice up there...almost everybody is going vote on that instead

hehe, I think that's just what their pastor wants(and prolly what some people do)

I generally would think most taiwanese are buddhist.
But thats just me stereotyping.

But generally I think he is more of an athist.

gcgal
12-10-2006, 05:37 AM
im guessing buddhism cuz its a mainstream religion in taiwan...but i wouldve picked atheist, if it was up there.
i think even though he has a religion, i dont think that he follows the religion very closely. i dunno. what a good poll!

Atheist is just a fancy term for free thinker. Hope that clears your confusion.:-)

I think he may be a free thinker. He has never mentioned anything about his religion. Crosses may not represent anything about his religion. It may just be an accessory. But 'yi fu zhi ming' really sounds Catholic like, because of the words he uses, eg sin. At the end he did the 'in the name of the Father,Son and Holy spirit'thingy, which might suggest he is a catholic. However, Jay being a Catholic seems pretty weird to me.

May I ask why isnt Catholic one of the choices?

atomik86
12-13-2006, 07:13 PM
the answer to the question is what religion does his mom belong to. he probly still sticks to what his mom raised him which is probly the traditional beliefs in taiwanese culture

lonely_boy
12-14-2006, 01:48 AM
cinnimon~ : First of all everyone, forgive me if I accidentally insulted one's religion. I didn't put Catholic on here because I thought it wasn't really popular in Taiwan. I always saw lots of Christian churches but only a few Catholic churches. Out of 10 churches I saw, only 1 or 2 of them are Catholic.

Yeah, i recently did too, from another jay chou forum to be exact. he has reportedly become a Christian and is attending this congregation (i don't remember the name, something that has to do with harvest? vine? something like that). however, i don't think this piece of news is confirmed. i guess we will only know for sure when he says so himself. (but good for him if it's true - imho :) )

li_shan, yeah my friend from church also told me about Jay recently becoming a Christian. My church has links to some of the Taiwanese Churches and apparently, Liu Geng Hong brought Jay to one of the churches where Jay converted. And given the fact that his mum's a Christian, it's probably most probable that Jay's a Christian currently.

Hmm....never heard anyone talk about Jay's religion. But yeah, maybe Buddhism just because I suppose maybe his grandmother is +_+. I have no idea, that's my guess.

DulceMexicana
07-14-2007, 08:26 AM
maybe christianity cuz i heard that is mom had converted sso maybe she encouraed him somehow and then hes using crosses and that in his clothing perfomances etc but maybe thats just somethin hes in at the time

Good question! I've always wanted to know... I picked Christianity cause he seems to always wear a cross now and again...

sam_ho
07-17-2007, 08:14 PM
Hmm...from my point of view, I think that he's traditional. Because most of the population of the Taiwanese are either buddhism or traditional. But then again, my prediction could be false.

I've read from a reliable source that Jay is a Christian, you can read the article here

http://www.true-worshippers.com/news.php?news.php?hash=zaAxgfhgfd123gf&id=100

This was taken from the website of an Indonesian Christian group, True Worshippers, so it's reliable enough..

I picked Christianity, because I'm a Born Again Christian as well and I read some article on this thread, but now its closed about Jay's mom wishing Jay to become a Christian.

Also I have just recently saw his concert in Toronto, Canada and praying for Him.

If you see the advertisements in the pictures section, Jay wears a cross.

I've heard from YouTube comments on Jay's Blue Storm (Lan Se Feng Bao) video that his mother is religious (a Christian) and he seems to follow her lead. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=36_8j_o5kyw&NR=1
