Where can I find the person who added my reputation? I just got 1 from the poll "Ever got insulted for liking Jay?" and I have absolutely no idea who gave me such a positive feedback. I would like give the person the reputation in return.

You wouldn't know.
The reputation system has been set up so people can't see who gave them reputation in order to prevent rep giving unnecessarily.

Lols. That's the whole point of not disclosing the person who repped/de-repped you.

Jay-Chou.net Reputation Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) #5 (http://www.jay-chou.net/reputation_faq.htm#II5)

We advise you NOT disclose who you are when giving reputation points, whether positive or negative.

There are a few ppl who tend to disclose who they are when giving positive rep points in hopes the person will in turn give positive reps back to them
("You scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" mentality). At JCNET, we do not tolerate scratching of any kind.

lonely_boy: You do not have the power to figure out who gave you positive or negative reputation if they did it anonymously. You can only guess. And it is not advisable to give a positive reputation to a person just because he or she added yours. Don't feel like you owe them something. The reputation system will lose its essence if all people who receive positive reps will give back as a return favor. Same as deducting one's rep points just because he or she took away yours. :wink2:

no, not really. it doesnt make you a better member than the other members, you dont get an award for it, you dont get money, etc. it's merely just a way for people to show appreciation or positive feedback for maybe a well written post or maybe you've done a good deed / contributed to something / etc.

Oh I see then. It's funny about the scartching part though...

Sting: rep just makes you look good with the number above 10, I suppose.

Since it doesn't mean anything. In other words, having other users who rep you don't mean anything too.

Thus, a 100+ rep user is no difference from a 10 rep user, just that the 100+ rep user is of higher seniority than the 10 rep user in reel life, but in reality, it don't mean anything.

Right? Thanks for the clarification.

uhh.. if i follow your post correctly.. yes.

but:

just that the 100+ rep user is of higher seniority than the 10 rep user in reel life

i guess you could say that's for most cases, but that's not necessarily true.

r u crazy it means everything. if u have enough ur a god on this forum, like me, dont mind my rep its just to throw u off.

how i see it is that the more favors u do, the more u get. its to show off ur greatness and dedication to the jcnet community. and sometimes just funny posts that make ur day. whatever, but those people have earned their respect, so respect them
