This is a tough question because everything's good! But I'll say char kway teow because it's definitely my favorite. Ah... The smell of it... I could smell it from a mile away! And the taste... Gosh... I'm so hungry now! And there's nowhere I could eat it over here right now.

i chose hokkien mee, or otherwise known as fried prawn noodles. it just has this speciality that makes me go  i want more! more!

but i would introduce the hainese chicken rice to tourists tho.

Why don't you remove this poll, and have a normal discussion thread instead?

This way, no one will be constrained by the poll options provided by the topic author.

Hokkien Mee's the one for me! I love the wet wet type, but I prefer more thick bee hoon than noodles in my mee.

My hot runner up would be char kway teow. with lots of "harm"! Cockles will cause my downfall one of these days...

My favorite is the Roti Prata... :excited: Used to eat it everyday, especially when I was staying in the Hall in NUS.... FongSeng is a place you cannot miss if you live in the Halls. But now I have to watch my weight, otherwise I will be waddling around....

Are you referring to the Hokkien mee at the old market that's opposite Philips factory? If so, I have to agree with you. Over at that market, they have this stall that sells realyl small teochew paus.

They are really good. Try it if you are there the next time. In the morning, of coz!

Gosh ... I am salivating ... feeling so damn hungry in the middle of the night. Bad choice to be reading this.

Miss singapore food sooooooo much... Gonna go to Raffles City in Shanghai and eat Laksa~! :D

Raffles City in Shanghai? What's in there? Is it a restaurant opened by Singaporeans? Fast food chain? Shopping centre with all the local brands?

I've never been to Shanghai so I'm really curious. :)

How's the food like in Shanghai? Oily? Salty? Yummy?

Kyoko
02-15-2004, 09:20 AM
petheads: It's opened by an Singaporean, if I'm not wrong... Lots of common Singapore brands there. Thailand, Indonesia, Phillipines and Singapore style food. There's a hawker center, and also other seperated restaurants. Bread Talk too! :D Yum~

Food in Shanghai arh... I think it's oily... XD And sometimes salty... But once in a while it's quite nice, but now I'm quite sick of it... XP I love singapore food more than anything!!! ^0^!

Singapore, although aka food paradise is very capable of producing a lot of unhealthy oily, salty, sugary etc.. stuffs.. They may taste very nice.. but I think we should also take good care of ourselves..

By the way, my favourite food in Singapore is.. popiah. I like Rojak, ice kachang, Horfun, fish and chips from hawker centre... and lots more!... But, I just dont like the mees.. Dont know why.. Just dun like it...

Okay, if you're looking for good fried Hokkien Mee, I have recommendations. Try this one called Tian Tian Lai Hokkien Mee. They have a few branches around Singapore but I think their original one is at Toa Payoh.

It's located at the market opposite Philips Factory. Try it and let me know if you like it.

There's another one that is in Ang Mo Kio Central market.

There is only one market in Ang Mo Kio central, so you definitely won't miss it.

Talking about local food. I almost ruin my mom's Bak Kut Tea. When I tear the packet of spices for her, I tore the paper bag wrapping the spices. I hope everything turns out well today. Or else, I will get myself into BIG TROUBLE!

i love the fried carrot cake in food stalls in Spore.
especially those with sweet sauce in black.

love them to the max.
i cant find them in Malaysia.
the ones in Malaysia are salty ones.

and the tu-tu cake is my all time favourite. ;)

Tu-tu cake! My favourite snack since I was a little girl. But I'm a weird person. I like to eat it plain (without any fillings) Just the flour itself. There's also the malay ones which are bigger. They all taste so yummy!

I know this place!! I used to live near there in the late 90s and used to buy the roasted pork all the time...Isnt it located in a shop with 3 stalls in it? The first stall selling roast pork, I think the second one sells wonton mee and the 3rd one sells chicken rice.
