I'm talkin about the company that makes the crappiest things you can ever want in the world. I just can't stand them! If their macs weren't bad enough they had to make a ipod. I just hate them with their crappy Ipods and their lame computers. Ipods suck so badly, they can't play wma files, the spinwheel was horrible idea, they have bad production quality, pixel problems, and they force you to use their crappy itunes application which is slower than hell. The macs are the worst computers you can ever buy. Just go to youtube and type in "apple sucks" and you see all these people swearing at apple. The mac is just horrible and the ipod just sucks, I rather buy toilet paper than those. You guys get what I'm saying?

lol brother u got a lottta hate.

i dont mind ipods.. i got one myself, it hasnt given me much problem but yeah, i know a lotta people are annoyed with apple.

what i dont like about them is their product pricing (ridiculously expensive!!!). and how they make the tinyest change on their accessory to make u replace them everytime the new version hits the market.

im happy with my ipod, but the sound quality is definately not as good as Iriver.. but hey, who would buy the pod for its quality!? its all bout the lookz.. at least thats why i bought it. -_-

Dude wma's files are terrible, mp3 is what most people use anyway.

Plus your saying itunes is slow? maybe it's your computer, it's fast on mine.
If you hate ipods, just don't buy one. If ipods are crappy, why is it the best selling mp3 player? Your saying it rudiculousy expensive? i believe not, you are paying for quality.

You hate macs? do you have one yourself? how would you know if they are crappy atleast they don't crash like windows. Mac aern't the worst computers you can buy for. Being a mac user, mine computer hasn't crash a single time. Don't make ridiculous comments about certain things if you don't have evidence to back it up. It goes like this Windows users hate Macs, Mac users hate windows. To me they are equally good and have certain positives and negatives.

I'm not trying to start a arguement, i'm just stating my opinion.

good post

wmas arent terrible, and plus its a better compression that windows media player uses which saves space without harming the quality. And plus ipods dont even support plug n play which means it doesnt work on windows media player.

Personally i dont think ipods are crappy, best one i had so far. and it does have great quality especially in the ear buds. but it is still missing so many components. most of it relys on the software. like the video format, every video has to convert to the 1 codec that ipod plays. isnt it easier to just the basic codecs on the ipod to begin with, like the most common ones avi and mpegs.

For Macs, i personally dislike them majority of the time. Its great because there are no known viruses/worms made for mac. and they are super stylish. but almost all my programs dont run on MAC, including the ones i use the most. like my printer. and my games. so.. macs are great becuase they are the least likely to have issues and its based off of Linux which is great for servers, but it lacks compatibility.

Apple is one of the most innovative companies in the world right now.
The iPod, which is the most popular music player, is unsurpassed by anything else. Look at how many people own one, and how the sales are: i see arrows going up and up. WMA is a horrible file format. It's barely compatible with anything, while mp3s can be put mostly onto any player. Sound is the same, since the avg. listener wouldn't hear much of a difference.

On Windows, you can use winamp to upload songs onto your iPod, but iTunes is less of a hassle. iTunes isn't mandatory, but it's easier to sync with the iPod and looks clean to me. On performance issues, iTunes runs well for me. It has hiccups, but all programs do that. It consumes some ram, so that may be your problem.

Onto Apple's computers. Sure they're overpriced, but the design is nice. The simple apple logo with the silver casings make it look sophisticated, yet clean.
You'll see that the apple notebooks/desktops are not shabby for the price, considering what you get. Taking out the factor of additional memory, it's competitive to say Dell, HP, etc. I don't know how this relates to the argument, but I just had this thought. Many people swear Macs do better on photo-editing and films, but I don't supprot that claim.

Until you own a Mac and have personal experiences to back it up, don't bash Apple.

The iPod can play MP3, AAC/M4A, Protected AAC, AIFF, WAV, Audible audiobook, and Apple Lossless audio file formats. The 5th generation iPod can also play MPEG-4 (H.264/MPEG-4 AVC), .mp4 and QuickTime video formats, with restrictions on video dimensions, encoding techniques and bitrates. Apple does not support Microsoft's WMA audio format — unlike most other media players — but a converter for non-DRM WMA files is provided with the Windows version of iTunes. MIDI files cannot be played, but can be converted to audio files using the "Advanced" menu on iTunes. Alternative open-source audio formats such as Ogg Vorbis and FLAC are not supported.
Each time an iPod connects to its host computer, iTunes can synchronize music playlists or entire music libraries and the user can choose for automatic or manual synchronization. Song ratings can be set on the iPod and synchronized later to the iTunes library.
Source: Wikipedia

It does play mpeg, just not avi. Plus H.264 is DVD quality image or close to.
Yeah, if you have not used a mac, dont bash. I don't go bashing around windows cause i have not owned one. I agree with chineseguyjl Mac doesn't have lot of programs and if they do, it's either expensiver than windows alternative or not compatible with windows. Macs are become more and more popular, plus you can run widnows on a mac lmao, you just need a windows cd and WHAM! :excited:

You got that wrong. Actually, i-pod cannot play wma files, which is precisely why they have to convert it to mp3

Just clarifying some stuff here. I have an i-pod myself and basically, I dont really have any complains about it.

One thing I don't like about their iPods is that they get scratched too easily.. And I always have to get a protection for my iPods.. Ya their sound quality is NOT good.. Even a Panasonic mp3 player has better sound quality..

Their Macs aren't that nice to use I agree.. And iTunes take really long to load..

Ok, I had a ipod b4. It sucked like hell. I used the Itune app, and I also used the Windows Media Player, guess what, Itunes app is a lot slower. I use macs at school, they suck, everyone in my school agrees with me

Also, please make your topic title more descriptive to its contents.
Apple, what? Apple the fruit? Apple, some band?

Regarding this topic: My ipod scratches too easily, and the battery life is too short, but it contains music I love so I'm not fussed. As for the Mac itself, Windows copied so much from Mac in it's original creation. Take the typography. Steve Jobs (CEO of Apple computers) in his graduation speech mentions how they designed all Macs to have multiple typefaces, or proportionally spaced fonts. "And since Windows just copied the Mac, it's likely that no personal computer would (have had) them".

I own a PC, but I don't really have a preference for either PC or Mac. I think most PC users hate Macs because they're simply accustomed to PC. But Macs have their advantages... they're great for video and photo editting... which is why you see all the designers/artists using them. Then again, they ARE hella expensive... it's a trade-off, and both have pros and cons.

HAHA... sorry for ruining this Anti-X thread with my neutral comment ><"

I've used Macs at work, but I've never owned one for personal use. (I have a PC laptop.) I do have an iPod, which I don't think I could live without in the city. I love the Mac design, but I don't know I'll ever switch over. Necessity has made me an excellent troubleshooter on PC.

This being said, I'm sick of Mac owners who make fun of PCs. Yeah, if I was rich enough to own a Mac, I probably would have one, but I don't have that kind of money.

Also, Apple is a giant corporation that cares about profits. It's strange that people think it's this benevolent entity. It's not. Apple cares about money. They probably invented the iPod Nano a while back, but waited until they had amassed a good profit on the Mini before releasing the Nano on the market.

Macs and iPods are products, not deities to be worshipped.

I'm agree with you when my handphone is connected with I-TUnes, it is slower the Windows media player!
I heard my friend saying that Apple Screen is so nice, but for me I dont know what the heck is that design.. looks like for 5 years old children to play and it cost RM1000+, totally useless. I use the money to buy Sony LCD Screen is better then that stupid design screen (dont know design by who)

I dont even wanna buy IPOD! Looks great, you can have 1500 songs in it, but seriously some of them is too big! So it's better I buy another brand.

I couldn't agree more, Apple's electronics sucked in general.

I've spent US$2000.00 to get a G3 iBook to go to school, after only a couple months, the touch pad doesn't respond well, and the phone jack housing was breaking off. I didn't even use it that much, and the whole thing still looked perfect. Then I sent it back to the company for them to fix it under warrantee. They returned it unfixed claiming that I've misused it. Now that piece of shit is piled on my book shelf under some old books. I can't bear to toss it because I've spent so much just to buy it. What a waste of time. I then bought a HP Notebook. It's been 2 years now, and it will kick that iBooks ass any day of the week.

For MP3 players, I bought a iRiver 20GB H10 to start off, never had problems with it, and it plays just about anything I'd put in it. Then I won an iPod Shuffle from a raffle contest. Listened to it the first time, and realized the sound quality is crappy as hell, compared to my iRiver, of course. So I just simply gave it away to my friend and wished her good luck. She's been wanting a Shuffle, but never had the spare money to buy one. So we're both happy.

Now, I've just bought a new cell phone, it's the Samsung MM-A920 phone. It's got MP3, and Video capabilities. This thing is way better than anything else I've gotten so far. Now I can go out with just a cellphone and still can get multimedia experiences.

My suggestion is, if you are to buy multimedia devices, you might as well buy a cell phone that does it, because it'll save you from carrying 50,000 hand held devices to go out and chill. And please dont' buy from Apple, they suck.

Well... I can tolerate the easily scratched iPod.
I am okay with the sound quality of iPod.

What I can't tolerate is the short battery life. i have to off the backlight etc to save battery so that I can listen it for a day at work. I would say, I prefer those that use regular battery, like my Creative muVo. Now, I carry TWO mp3 players to work.

Another thing is... the video part. You actually have to BUY a program from Quicktime so that you can convert your video to m4a and let it play on your iPod. That's ruthless to me, if I've bought iPod for the video... I'll be cursing and swearing because of all the extra charges I have to pay.

It doesn't come with FM/AM radio. Well... I never know how attached I am to my local stations only after I bought iPod.

Argh...

I don't know much about the technical stuff, but I hate it when my iPod suddenly freezes for no reason.
Once I can't turn it off, and just yesterday, It won't turn on (it has the apple logo, you know when you try to turn it on, it has the logo, then the menu). I tried turning it on, and it gives this very. very. long piercing beep. And it was at night, I was so pissed off I threw it on the ground, then it didn't stop. Tried again and it stopped =P (of course, it was only on the carpet!)
But I learnt, just wait, and it'll go back to normal.

ah..all this hate
personally, im for pc comps, but mac computers are so sleek and pretty that u just cant stop hoping ull get one!
i have an ipod, and itunes is not THAT slow for me. sure, my ipod always had problems (i have an ipod mini), but u can always go to the genius bar at the apple store to make an appointment and tell them to fix it for u. this is free for the first year, and u can get them replaced by another one really quick. after the first year, u can buy an apple plan and then they will guarantee it for another year...
plus, the battery life is not even short now! have u seen the new ipods? they all have a battery life of over 24 hours!

All that trouble, I've had an iRiver for more than a year now, I've never had problems with it. Never had to go to a geek bar to get them to fix anythiing. I just don't see the practicality of using an iPod along with all the problems. Besides, my iRiver costs less than half the iPod's price when I was buying. I'm glad to skip the iPod on my shopping list. I'll admit, though, Apple products do look slick, but after I hear problems after proglems, I can tell there are many manufacturing flaws with their products. I'd rather buying a dependable device.

One thing i must say is , Apple are usually for designer and people who got a sense of design. Apple pump in alot money design their macbooks and the imacs. The setback are that Apple's stuff usually won't come very cheap. As a designer , i'm craving to own an Apple Macbook pro because in design industry, holding a macbook while showing your client your work is very different.. Client will look at your stylish macbook before your work. ( First Impression )

If u r a versatile person who want to play games.. Offices.. " everything " and don't really mind the design.. go for PC ( mind ya.. HP got a damn nice PC laptop )

If u go for stylish , design and don't mind to spend alittle more.. go for mac.

P.S. i also heard that Mac crashes alot time.. haha! hope that the next OS leopard will be better.. MAc change their OS like changing girlfren. now is Tiger... they changing to leopard soon... I personally support Windows as i think windows are more user friendly. Get ready for Windows new girlfren (OS) call Microsoft VIsta.. you will drool over it.. trust me

I'm lovin my HP Pavilion dv2000, more beautiful than the latest Macbook.

No wonder it's one of HP's fastest-selling products so far. When I saw this, I quickly forgot all intentions of buying a Macbook. And forget all those Boot Camp stuff, people has been reporting crashes everywhere when running Windows on an Intel MacBook. Besides, when you are actually one to buy a Macbook why would you want to run Windows?

On iPods, I'd rather use a Creative Zen Vision:M like the one I'm having right now, thank you. Plays a hell lot of movie formats (except Quicktime MOV of course, but you can convert it easily with a lot of FREE converters out there like Super Video Converter), have FM Radio, recording functions and customizable themes (bye bye bland white-blue). The best of it is the menu system, which can let you view album arts in a 3x3 grid, and the alphabet selection system (no need to scroll and scroll and scroll that wheel). And of course the Search functionality, which Apple copied for their latest iPod 5.5G and iPod Nano 2G.

What I have to admit though, is that iPod + iTunes do have the ease of use, though maybe oversimplified, it just works. If I am not an IT staff, probably I would have gotten frustrated with my Zen and throw it outta the window. I know I did the first week I own it. Only after I managed to find out how to use it perfectly then I become perfectly satisfied with it. Zen - harder to use but rewards you more. iPod - easy to use but that's it. Your choice, you can't compare both head-to-head really.

i have a video ipod..and i get soo frustrated becuase i can't play some video files without converting it first..and even then sometimes it doesn't work!!! and ihate the fact that it has such a low battery life ( you can't even plug the darn thing in to the wall without having to buy the wall charger (its like 40 bucks..!i bought one for my friend)...and that it scratches so easily (thank goodness for the plastic cover case i bought which was like 30 dollars!!!!!!)all the accessories for it are so expensive..my ipod has crashed three times when i last updated..but then i got a new update for it and they fixed the stupid bugs..and if i don't turn my ipod on for like a day or so, and then i try to turn it on, it won't turn on. so i have to sit there for like a minute holding down the menu button before it turns on..its such a hassile..but other than that. i'm satisfied with it and i bring it everywhere with me..i can't live without it.. plus they make like almost everything for the ipod now..ihome (which i really want) ibear!?! all those other things thats start with i! for the ipod..so if the ipod was really that bad why would people still buy it!?!? ...

and itunes is fast for me so i have no problem with it.. i've never had a mac but i've used one before and i really liked the design of it..but i hear you have to buy all this extra stuff for it..so i would rather stick with my hp laptop than get a mac.

Today I sat in purgatory, otherwise known as the Genius Bar at the Apple Store. My poor iPod is freezing all the time. It can't be fixed by Apple for less than $150 USD! They wanted me to buy a new one. I felt like such a sucka.

So if you have an iPod, Applecare is very important if your iPod is out of warranty. Learn from my mistakes!

I'm a Windows user... at the moment. I don't know very much about Apple computers, but I use an Apple at my school for art and I really like it. I guess Apple computers kinda has the image of being the artsy type of computer or at least that's what I get from the recent commercials they have. Hahah! I love those commericals!

But I would like to own a Mac. Sorry if i'm not much of a Apple hater. =/

Also, I personally find the CEO of Apple to be a pretty inspiring character. Steve Jobs. I don't know if anyone read his Stanford graduation speech he did a few years ago. I really enjoyed it. I remember showing it to all of my friends. He definitely changed my opinion about the background of Apple.

I don't think there's a reason to hate Apple when well... weren't they the ones who invented personal computers (well, I mean... making computers smaller... and easier to choose than those old ones that are super huge! ah!)? I use to have one of those. Too bad we gave it away to Salvation Army. If we still had it, it would be an antique. Man!

huh? apple isnt the newest. infact its OS, the mac is the first one EVER. thats the old 64bit macintosh. even with the updated and newer versions of the OS, like windows 2000, ME, 2003, XP, Vista, Mac OS X, theres always updates about every year. the pentium 4 processor isnt really that great, i'll take AMD any day. overall, apple computer has better everything than windows except for compatibility and not sure about graphics. which makes me choose windows over apple anyday but cmon, apple runs off linux, which is made for servers, which is like 500x the speed of your personal computer.

So I would just like to say for everyone out that that mentioned that Windows copied Apple...well, actually, everyone just copied from Xerox.

And if the apple computer you are using doesn't function properly, it's probably 'cause you don't know how to use it. Yeah, it takes a little bit of time to get used to, but it'd just be like if someone who was used to a Mac suddenly decides to use a PC for a day.

I've never had any issues running Bootcamp on my MBP.

iTunes didn't run very fast on my old laptop, but that's 'cause I didn't have enough RAM. It's really all a matter of preference on if you like iTunes or Windows Media Player. But I do have to say that wma files are less supported than mp3s. Besides, Apple made iTunes for Macs, why should they have to make it run super-well on Windows? Mac products come first when they are developing their products.

The Apple HD Cinema screens are exceptional quality. They are just so much more clear and brighter than other screens out there. However, I do have to admit that they are overpriced.

You guys can't compare OSX to Windows to Pentium 4s. Pentium's are a processor while OSX and Windows are operating systems.

It's really not hard to switch the default internet browser from Safari to Firefox or Camino. Really, I'd prefer it any day to Internet Explorer.

Sorry you guys, I just really love my MBP. It'd prefer it over my Dell any day.

I never worked with an Apple computer before.. but when I saw this topic, I was thinking about this parody-ish video that I saw a few years ago:

Like I said before, I never used or touched an Apple computer, so I can't judge. Just sharing this funny video with you all ^^

I can't stand Apple. I've worked on an iMac before to create movies in school and frankly, I find that entire 4-computer iMac lab a hugely expensive waste of money. The computers we used were cleared of space, but slow, froze often, and took EONS to load. Having used video editing software on PC, I can say that in my experience with Apple vs PC, PC takes the cake for this.

Then there are the iPods. I don't understand the fad. I hate the way they operate, the touch buttons, the fact that you'd do better with iTunes, and what's with them getting smaller? I hate the technologies they think they're advancing with. If I was interested in an iPod, I'd go with the normal size they started with. Smaller and smaller is just annoying to me. My friend got an iPod and had a really crappy experience. He called up tech support when it didn't work and they told him to hang onto it, then send it in later. He sent it in and over two months later, he hadn't been contacted or given a repaired/replacement one. So from that little tift, I derive that their customer service isn't that great... But it wasn't a personal experience. *shrug*

And their commercials, really! How mature is it to be derogative to another company or type of computer only to try and advertise your own? If I were searching for a new computer (you know, one that wasn't practical, efficient, or well-running for my personal use.. if I was looking for a multi-thousand dollar POS), I wouldn't find that commercial the least bit attractive at all.

I don't know why people hate Apple so much, if you just take a look at the professional producer, designer, or director, most of them will be seen using a mac instead of window, so there gotta be a reason why they are so popular among some people. Also, there spec on their laptop isn't that bad at all, while the touch could possibly be the best mp3 player right now.

What i really hate about apple is that they have to go sign those phone carrier restriceted contract, so you can use ipone on certain carrier, instead of carrier of your choice. Plus, you have to use those ridiculous data plans. In general, i just hate the pricing of Apple's product.

PS Someone just posted in the Anti-X directory, and i see this topic in there, so i just have to reply to it, since they aren't as bad as some people make it to be.

haha. i think apple is just a combination of very clever advertising and somewhat fad-like technology. even if the tech is ahead by a bit, others will catch up and make better things.

ipods, i really really dont get the point. as a person who goes for sound quality, they just dont come anywhere near what i want. as well as the price. they're just over priced for what it offers.

the mac - it looks good, but apart from that i dont really see what's good about it.

in the end, i think, a high price for a mediocre product.

These are some reasons why those professional producers, designers, etc choose mac:
1. They are more productive
According to a large number of mac users who were previously windows users, they find mac more productive and everything can be done with much more ease and a lot of time is saved. I don't really understand why, maybe it's the interface (more user friendly?).
2. They perform better
Even though with similar specs, macs tend to perform better according to the results of those performance benchmark.
If you wanna do some serious work, then Mac is more suitable.
The price is a bit steep, but I'd say you get what you pay for as they use good quality materials.

As for iPods, I don't really know what to say. But if I wanted to go for quality, I wouldn't use mp3 players. haha So in other words, I didn't expect much from mp3 players in the first place.

Now, what I don't like about Apple is the lack of compatibility. They kinda "force" consumers to use their other products.

Well, Apple's computers are more user friendly. I suppose that means if you are clumsy with technology, than Apple computers are for you. I think it has both its advantages and disadvantages. I mean, most people have Windows, so most viruses are made for it. But I suppose then it is harder to download additional software and games and such. Although, I have to admit, the Macbook Air is so stylish. O__O

Which prove another point that sex sell, the sexier they make the machine look, the easier the machine will sell on the market...

I wouldn't pay a penny for the Air, i could get a laptop a hundred time better with a cheaper price.
