I checked the list, i don't think anyone has started a topic on Gigi yet.

When she first started I really didn't like her that much. To me, it was either Kelly Chen or Gigi....and I picked Kelly....so I somehow didn't even bother with Gigi's music. However, I did happen to hear a couple of her songs a year or 2 ago and I actually think her singing has improved. I still like Kelly more, but I think Gigi isn't bad at all. At least her recent album is more decent than Kelly's. Did anyone hear her latest album? It's actually not bad at all, I really like songs 1 and 2.

Any comments about Gigi?

well, i think she is getting popular also because of the movies and shows she acts in...

for eg, the movie "Sky Of Love" where Ken Chu and Gigi are the main characters..

the movie "Turn Left Turn Right" ..gigi
also sang a song for this movie....

i also didn't really care about her in the past...now i am beginning to see her 'status'....

I always thought GiGi is more talented (in terms of singing and acting) than Kelly... i felt kelly is a little 'plastic' and her singing is not that fantastic... (this is my own opinion)...

I think GiGi is beginning to get a better grasp on her fortes recently... and though with few albums.. she's to quite a few nice songs... I strongly recommend "Mo huan Ji Jie" which is also the song when she was ambassador to some switz tourism thing...

I used to like Gigi Leung a lot!!

I think Gigi is very talented. She knows how to design, sing , compose and write songs. If I have to choose between Kelly and Gigi, I think I will still prefer Gigi.

I started to like Gigi after I heard this song " Dan Xiau Gui" released many years ago. I like that song alot! It's really good. Maybe you can d.load the song at Kaaza.

Gigi faced a very big challenge when she announced that she and Ekin Cheng are together. At that time, Ekin was with Maggie Jiu...and they broke up..hence, Gigi became the 'third person'. But soon, people seemed to accept her. I think that's very strong of her.

I hadnt noticed her much until quite recently, i just thought she was another regular HK artist. Until she wrote 'Tall Girl' and, to me, she established herself as a singer-songwriter. (Defining moment when she was on the same stage as Jay receiving the same song-writing award as him! :D ) So im very impressed with her, and want to see her act a bit more.

The troubles she and Ekin had to overcome prove that they are a decent couple and i hope they stick together! I think Ekin announced at her concert, "Im here to support my girlfriend" in front of her fans and the media, which is a very big thing....so sweet of him to declare it in public when i dont think she was sure herself. :happy:

i've noticed gigi here and there. when i was mostly into western music and only listened to some chinese stuff, i loved her songs back then, especially the mandarin ones like "duan fa" for instance. i think her voice is very sweet and i like her sunny look. you just wanna smile when you see her. anyway, i was out of the loop for chinese music for a lil' while and then i heard her "hua huo". i think she played the piano for that track? :? anyway, i think she's really established herself as a singer-songwriter now as jessca mentioned in her post. her latest songs from the movie "turn left, turn right" are beautiful. i find her voice very soothing. i wasn't really impressed with her or kelly in the beginning b/c i don't think they can sing live. but anyway, gigi's voice still sounds good on albums. when she first started out, she kinda reminded me of mavis fan. not sure if you guys know who she is. but anyway, i don't think every artist can pull off songs where you sound cute and sweet, so gigi is definitely a good exception. she's also talented in different aspects, like fashion design and drawing, for example. and after the way she and ekin have weathered the storms, i admire her strength as well.

Just a question, is Gigi still together with Ekin? Last year, I saw them at a mall in Canada, so I was thinking that they were together at that time, but I have no idea about now.

Has anyone seen Sky of Love yet? I think it will be good and since she has worked with Ken in one of her MV's before, it will be neat to see them working together again. I'm pretty excited about it.

As for her songs, I think she sings mandarin songs quite well.....better than most HK artists that sing mandarin.

and i agree about her mandarin. it's very polished compared to other artists who'd have canto accents when they sing mando. :crazy: i think a few other artists have managed to sound good singing mandarin w/o much traces of an accent, but not most artists in HK. that's to be expected though. i haven't seen any of her recent movies. still wanna see "turn left, turn right". *sigh*

I've never really liked GiGi. I just don't like her looks. Her eyebrows look too "manly." And I think her eyes look "old" somehow. But my ex-bf used to like some of her songs (even though he's a banana and couldn't understand Chinese :dry:) so I had to translate for him and ended up liking those songs too. Still, I've never been crazy about her. I do envy her though. She's tall!

And yes, I also think her Mandarin is quite good. Especially compared to Ekin's. :oops: His still sucks after so many years in the entertainment business. The first time he sang in Mandarin, I almost gagged. And I watched the making of Running Out of Time 2 and they interviewed him. I didn't know why he insisted on speaking Mandarin, but it was so bad that I wouldn't have known what was going on if it weren't for the subtitles!

Although Gigi can write songs, in my opinion her songwriting skills are not that great (when compared to Mark Lui, Jay, etc) Her melodies sound kind of typical "canton pop"style... which isn't necessarily a bad thing for those who like more "ordinary" melodies.
As for her voice, I don't like it at all... it's too weak. However, I do feel that she has improved her vocal techniques during these years.

I really liked Gigi in "First love unlimited" (a teeny bopper chick flick with Daniel Chan...) It was the sweetest movie and she looked soooo cute with Daniel!

I like the movie too and I thought the story was kind of sweet, but actually I thought GiGi looked too old to be a high school girl in the movie. Daniel was absolutely adorable though. :happy:

Yeah I think Gigi is actually really talented although if I was to chose Kelly or Gigi's looks, I think Kelly is more attractive. But I prefer Gigi's singing better. It's more... real compared to Kelly's.. although sometimes Gigi's voice can be annoying too. One of my favorite song from her (Gigi) would probably be Today, 'Tall Girl' and this other one that's pretty old..(forgot what it's called!) I highly recommend Today coz the melody is sort of oldish. It's an interesting song!

Oh... that song was back in 1997 or 1998, or maybe even earlier, I think. It's not just ironic that the lyrics of the song is related to my personal experience. The most ironic thing is that the song is by a singer introduced to me by my ex. :dry: I'll upload it for you when I have the time. :wink2:

Lately I've gotten into Gigi Leung's music (after watching Turn Left Turn Right, a movie so cute it'll give you a toothache :P). I got her I Think I Sing CD but I was wondering what other good cantonese albums does she have? I downloaded some of her songs like Flower Fire, One Day One Day, and Our Love Forever so does anyone know what albums those songs come off of? Also what's which of her canto albums are the best/your favorite (I speak mandarin but I like her canto songs better)

I listened to her recent mandarin album, "A sense of Belonging", and I think that it's not bad. She really keep improving with each album she releases. I'm still not a big fan of her, but I think her music is worth listening to. :wink2:

Hi guys, I'm sure some of you would have heard about the break-up between Gigi and Ekin Cheng recently .... I haven't exactly been following the news. Does anyone have a clear story on what exactly happened? I really like this couple a lot, even though Gigi was always accused of being the 3rd party.

I dont think they actually told the media the reason for their breakup :oops: I was quite shock too when I heard their breakup although at first I didn't like the idea that Ekin broke up with his ex, and then went out with Gigi. They had quite an age difference too so that's why I didn't like the idea. However, I eventually got over it and saw how long they lasted, I thought they were cute together and everything.. but now .. :cry: Part of me feel like they'll eventually be back together.. hopefully?

Well from what I read from the newspapers and the new clips I saw on tv. The reason given was the lack of time they spent together as both have a heavy workload.
I don’t really think that they will last at first and just when I started to change my mind, they broke up.

I think their break up is being so hot a topic is perhaps due to the fact of how they get together in the first place.

Ekin was being asked whether there is a third party. But he said it is not good to drag someone else into this situation. I got no idea what that mean.

I think there is quite a few versions of why they broke up.
I read an article saying it is Gigi who initiated the break up. The article incited that Gigi think that Ekin has not been working hard at his career. And Ekin had tried pleasing her.

Cacky, Singapore news channels are incorporating more entertainment news into them. I saw SHE, Sun Yan Zi. Takeshi Kanershiro and even Jay on it. So actually it might not be such a big hooha.

No, I don't think it was because of Jordan Chan. There was just a rumour that Gigi Leung didn't like Ekin's friends.. and Jordan is a really good friend of Ekin's.

I am quite surprise that this news is slowly fading. It's like we don't hear it anymore!

The picture is from yesterday's function for "Charity Soccer King". Recently, there's been a report saying that Gigi communicated with Ekin because she left something at the house (that they lived in) and yesterday, the reporters kept asking her things regarding it. However, she kept insisting that she had no comments.
