Well, there's a facebook revolution sweeping across college campuses in the US, so I wanted to see how many of you guys are on there. For those who don't know what it is, www.thefacebook.com is a kind of social network for you to keep in touch with your friends. It's only for college students (you have to have a college e-mail address to register) and they still haven't added some campuses, but you can still check if your school is on the list. Hehe, I know a lot of people are addicted to it, and sometimes you can find people that you haven't seen in forever, and contact them again. It's fun! You can also see the whole list of schools that can use facebook here (http://www.thefacebook.com/index.php?showall=1) (these are US schools only =/) Facebook is a pretty good networking tool, i dunno how you could get addicted to it too -_-;;; I think alumni can also get on as well as faculty at those schools.

Yup, alumni and faculty can join also. Although I've yet to see one of my profs on there..I think that'd just be too weird 0_0

I'm not sure how people get addicted either, I just view the profiles of my friends, and since they don't change it all that much, I get bored after awhile. Maybe I'm just a loser who doesn't have enough friends to view profiles of..T_T haha j/k.

sorry rose! i don't! hehe. what year/major is he in? anyway the school's huge and divided into north and central campus.. my dorm is up in north plus im in engineering and the engineering school is in the north too so i'm not down in central very often.. maybe thats why i dont know him. i know michael phelps(i wish) tho. ha ha ha.

Yeah, I've heard of it. My friend Sang used to have one, but he's at the US Naval Academy and I guess they banned it. I'm not sure why, but they just won't let anyone there have a facebook now. Crazy!

facebook is great, it also lets you add your classes and see who else is in there -- good easy way to find out who that cute girl you caught at the last lecture was ;)

ooohh....facebook! my friends went crazy at first and so many people were signing up for it..but now, kinda died down. But it's useful because it reminds you of the birthdays coming up.

fungi: you gotta take pictures of michael phelps if you see him on campus. I thought he was pretty hot, until he had that DWI thing and then he turned a little ugly. But it's cool how his arm span and height are almost the same.

lmao, i'm not one of those teeny boppers who'd go crazy over any good looking guy whos famous. campus is huge and even if i do bump into him, i think i won't recognize him unless theres a big bunch of girls following him around.
oh but this girl from my church in Ann Arbor whos a peer advisor actually gave him peer counselling on selecting his classes. she said he was shy, i thought it was pretty cool, telling people you counselled phelps. lol.

XD hs one is kinda pointless. no offense to those who made one, but using something like friendster or myspace for stuff like that would be better than using facebook...because in the college version you keep track of friends in diff colleges, which is really cool when they're all really spread out over the country, and meet people in your own college, whether they are hallmates, classmates, etc..but high school is such a teeny community in comparison there's not a whole lot to keep in touch with XD

but that's my two cents...I hated a lot of their updates. the new wall sucks gigantic buttocks. it's like a freakin myspace now. The older version was better because it was really like graffiti, and you wouldn't know right away who posted a comment, and you could change other people's comments, which is fun to do between friends. now it's lame. LAAAAAAAAAME

lol, thats exactly what i thought, spork =P yeah, its so damn pointless.. but i cant seem to get myself off from checking it =/ of course you cant really do much on there since you cant write blogs or whatever.. so it gets boring after like.. five minutes. haha. but it's somewhat interesting to see how you're connected with people area.. and especially when you find friends that you havent seen in foreverrrr and start talking to them again

and actually, facebook did save my ass one time. i was trying to finish this physics write up and i was confused on a certain problem but none of my friends could help me with it. so i went to facebook, got a classmate's SN from her facebook, and she helped me figure it out =P

so i guess its not completely pointless to have facebook? lol

i heard the guy who created the website was drunk while he was doing this, haha

It's only populated because you add people in your clubs, sports clubs/teams, dorm halls/sororities/frats if applicable, friends' friends, etc etc XD I only really keep in touch with maybe...20 people XD

aw I foud two or three people that I've known since elementary school, probably since like kindergarten. One of my best friends from 2nd and 3rd grade is here at my uni, we've gone to the same middle and high schools too and we have the same math class XD. and this other boy that I've known since kindergarten and lives near me has gone to all the same schools as me too XD
we haven't kept in touch though...people change and we go separate ways, but we still say hi to one another.

wow i didnt know there was a facebook thread. i joined facebook awhile back when college started like winter i think. i still perfer the old version better, before i can browse on my old highschool classmates who i havent added but now i cant even do that, i dont even know where that option is anymore. couple things i just like facebook than myspace, facebook got that tag thingy so you know who are the other people in your friends pictures. also it seem more connected to people because you get to see how you are related to another person.

i guess you could say it's like that? except facebook is a lot more "safe" than websites like myspace because trying to stalk on facebook is harder to do. unlike myspace, facebook requires you to be friends with a person in order to view their entire facebook profile + comment wall. it was originally made for college students to meet each other or keep in touch with their high/middle/elem. school buddies, but now they've extended it to high schoolers as well. i personally like it a lot more than myspace because it's more organized and "safer".

it really bothers me how ANYONE can join facebook now. i liked how it was exclusive to college and high school. actually, if they kept it exclusive to college, it probably would've been even better. i liked it when it was more exclusive because it had more privacy. now that anyone can join it, it's turning out to be like another myspace- but definitely not as stalkerish as myspace.

and it really pisses me off that middle schoolers have facebooks. *pulls out hair*

i'm there. but i don't quite like the new layout. >.< maybe it's cuz i'm so used to the old one and it seems to be easier to have everything on one page instead of multiple tabs. XD i had to get rid of some applications though. there are just too many out there!!!
I know! The "new" Facebook is really confusing. I think the new design was supposed to be made to be more convenient, but it has not really worked out that way. -__-;; I think the only thing convenient about it is the little bar below that tells you the online friends and the applications. Everything else is confusing. I do not like that everything was put into one thing. (The wall is so unorganized.)
