Hi all I dont know if this should be put in here but im goin to do it anyways cause well I think this is a subject that should be discussed. Oh and also this will be concidered long i think to some so just to let you know, but reading is a good thing hahaha anywas..... I got this idea to right this by another thread i say in here talking about how jay has sold himself out by do product advertising and promoting. Now to just make it clear Im not here to defend Jay because im a fan, Im here writing this to show a different view on how you can look at this topic. When it comes to fans and non-fans of who ever the celebrity is the subject of selling out is always part of the relationship between celebrity and society. And since this is a jay chou site then why dont we look into his part of this subject now.

I can say that I am reasonably a new fan of jay I know there are those in this site that are fans of him since the beginning of his career and there are those who are not fans of him since the beginning of his career. Now lets get down to it. Like any situation of the topic of sellout there is the typical " I was a fan of his older stuff and how he was in the beginning and now I find him to be selling out " kinda thought around the people who know of jay.

Well lets look at how music today is universal in its image. In the beginning of every musician there is the ideal thought of making music cause of the love of music that he or she has. And its true in most musicians, but honestly if you were in there shoes and were musically talented can you honestly say that if you thought of your self as musically talented and were confident in your talents and then decided that you would pursue this talent of yours are you saying that you would do the music for the music its self as an expression and never ever think about the payout of this career. Come on think about that very special word "career" music is both a hobby and a love and also very much a career in todays society and throughout history in civilizations.

What does career mean, well simply put it a career is something you do that enables you to get paid for what you do. Now lets look at music, music is an art form yes but its also entertainment and entertainment comes free and also with a price to it as well. Now music is no exception. This whole thing that some people have problems with about musicians and commercial products and advertisements is I think something that is funny to complain about because they say certain musicians are sellouts yet they buy the very product they advertise now come on to those people.

But hey I buy those products too and yes I fall for advertising too when it comes to celebrities promoting them, but remember we are the ones that came up with this concept as a whole and now we want to seperate our selves to the majority of this concept. Lets face it we will always be part of it and we will follow it for the most part. And the celebrities who do this will also be part of it to and we will do what they do. From buying cellphones to fashion to everything that can be bought.

This whole idea of being a rogue even among musicians is a is saying o0ne thing and then going agaisnt what you just said. Even when it comes to punk, the idea of punk against punk is funny. The so called true punk agaisnt bubble gum punk. Now this is a little off course when it comes to jay but its an example so please bare with me. The people who first developed punk had this idea of seperating them selves and to be different and not sell an image that they created in music, but in fact they did by doing concerts and getting record deals and through this they spread the image that they created to be different now look how far punk has gone or with any kind of musical image. The truth is music and image are one once you create it or do it and then you show the public people will like and do what you do now if that is the case then lets call them sellouts as well. And hey guess what its not a bad thing, change is a good thing and to change you have to influenced by something that you like to change to. And this is what music and advertising and commercials and major products like pepsi and all that other stuff do.

Now jay is a musician and celebrity and he knows this, and this is his career his way of making a living by doing what he loves to do and making profit off it and i think that is totally acceptable and fair. I say keep on promoting cellphones, clothes, drinks and anything else cause this is your job, and to those who are against this so called sellout then think about it more deeply. Im totally fine with those who are not fans of jay and im totally ok with your opinion and your thoughts and critize him its whats expected to happen among society who has views on music. Just remember jay cant please us all and that he can only do what he is happy with and hope that by doing what he does that some can understand and be ok with it. But hey im not telling you what to do or anything like just putting another perspective on this taboo subject. Anyways I could go on and on but im in a hurry and I will end it here please by all means give me your thoughts on this thread and by all means be a critic to my ideas too its totally normal to do this to anything really so go ahead would love to hear everybodies thoughts on what I had to say bye for now and take care all...... jay fan forever.

This is an intresting topic. I think that at times, a musican can lose sight of why he/she first started out in the music business. I mean they all say that it is because they love music, and want to share their music with the rest of the world. But once they get famous, and get various offers. Then they lose sight of what they used to stand for. And become big headed and change from the person they started out as. And this can have an influence on the music. BTW I'm in no way talking about Jay, because I love that man. He is my future husband(I wish:D) But anyway, alot of stars fall by the wasteside because of this, because at times they get too big for their own good, don't produce the same good quality of music and people lose intrest. They sellout, and then become poor in the long run, because no one is buying their alblums anymore. But I don't see this happening with Jay. His music will live forever!!! Wo Tai Ai Ni Jay!!

It is annoying how Chinese artists seem to pimp Sony phones and MP3 players in their videos, but people like Jay Chou, Wang Leehom, etc. aren't sell outs, because they were always that way. On the other hand, if Faye Wong (or in America) if Madonna started abusing their fame to promote products, they'd be sellouts.

I think it's okay posting it here though coz it seems like you're not really supposed to defend whoever's being bashed in the Anti-X threads..
