Has anyone heard of Renee Chen Jia Wei? I heard her song "Feel Good" on Hit FM Taipei and it's really good! I've been trying to find more info on her but without success. I don't think her album has been released yet. She's only 18! Her style is Hip-Hop/Rap, I think. At least from the song I've heard that seems to be her style. I don't know where she's from, but I think she speaks good English. Does anyone have more info on her? Please share! Thanks! :happy:

i saw her on mtv chinese the other day.. from what i observed she looks like an ABC.. she speaks rather good english which sounds really American.. she said a couple of phrases like ' i gotta get out of here' in a really american way (like how people sound like in American movies) her face kinda reminds me a little cross between rui en and coco lee especially with her straight long hair.. too bad i couldn't find a pic.. the single that was shown was the song 'feel good' and it's rather hip-hop..

First time I saw her yesterday on MTV Chinese, I thought she was Rui En. She really looks like a cross between Rui En and Coco Lee. And she has an accent when singing Chinese. Reminds me a lot of Rui En, and her voice sounds like Rui En. She's a pretty good dancer. I think she's like the younger version of Coco. I think you gonna like her, vunsin. ^^

Her album is titled "WHo's Renee?" I'm pretty sure she's an ABC, her MVs has a lot of caucasians. Her song Feel Good is pretty good. I have to hear her other songs to determine whether I'm gonna like her album or not. ^^

Anyways, I think CoCo is curvier and probably shorter. And Renee's mouth is bigger. Other than that, they could've been sisters. Maybe we should post this in the celebrity lookalike thread!

I'll just post the English translation here. Please note that due to the difficulty (make that impossibility, if there's such a word) of doing direct translation, some of the sentences here might be ungrammatically because I want to try NOT to change the wordings and structures too much.

With Sammi Cheng, Na Ying, A-Mei, Stef Sun, etc. kind of heavenly queens, Warner Music, named the "Palace of Heavenly Queens," nearing the end of 2003, grandly presented a (dunno how to translate this part) new artist - Renee Chen Jia Wei, whose new album "Who's Renee" made everyone agree that this new artist would have a bright future in the music scene.

Today at the Asian new album releasing ceremony, Renee performed live by singing and dancing to two songs, "Feel Good" and "Spiderweb" without hesitation. Merely by looking at her singing and dancing on stage with totally liberated moves, it wasn't obvious that she choreographed those moves. Renee smiled and said that it was her own Free Style. Although she hasn't learned dancing before, just give her music and rhythm, and she wouldn't be able to resist dancing! As a new artist in the "Palace of Heavenly Queens," Renee wasn't nervous or pressured. She said there were so many seniors who gave her suggestions, so she should be happy instead, why nervous? What made Renee happier was that Yanzi and Amei, as former new artists, have given her direct encouragement and guidance, making new artist Renee doubly happy!

With her slender body and (?) dancing, the sharp-eyed reporters noticed that she resembled CoCo Li Wen a little, and hearing this, Renee laughed happily, saying, "Since I was young I've always been called Ah Chou (ugly), so I never imagined now people will say I look a little like CoCo!" We're still trying to look for more of her information. There's no information on her so far. I've tried searching everywhere online. But that was before I knew how her name is written in Chinese. Now I know the Chinese characters of her name, I can search using Chinese search engines as well. Hopefully I'll find more info on her.

Well, if you look at ALL her pix, then she won't look so much like CoCo anymore. I think only from some angles. Like I've said, her mouth is much bigger, and she actually looks more like Kathy Chow Hoi-Mei (if they have the same hair color).

I've been interested in knowing more about Renee since they started promoting her on TVBS Ent News a few weeks ago. I liked her song 'Feel Good'

I'm really surprised that she never learnt to dance professionally. She has good dance moves and at first i thought she attended ballet classes for some reason, maybe cause she looks like a dancer. To top it all off she choreographs her dances?! Very impressive. I'm liking her more and more... I've gotta listen to more of her music.

From the clips I've seen, she doesn't seem skinny at all tho'. More like slim, I think she looks like she has a good figure and she's a good height. I like her dress sense, reminds me of a really cool friend at clg.

Yeah I agree with you guys that she is similar to Jay in that they are both very talented. The fact that she plays multiple instruments and writes some of her own music really puts her up there in my book.

You know she went to my school? No lie! She was in my brother's class since grade school and they knew each other. My brother told me last night that she's this huge pop star now in Taiwan. God, I was so shocked.

I still remember her from middle school but she transfered out during sophmore year and also cause she's one year above me. Her face has changed a bit but she still looks the same. haha oh well, I want to download some songs to see how she's doing.

In case anyone was wondering, the city and schools I'm talking about are in Arcadia, CA. Its near Pasadena, around 15 minutes away from downtown Los Angeles and near San Gabriel (which has a huge asian population).

She went to Baldwin Stocker Elementary School, First Avenue Middle School and had a couple years (transfered out in sophmore year, didn't know where she went) in Arcadia High School. It's cool that it's one of our Arcadians but she went to all the same schools as me! (Arcadia has 6 elementary schools, 3 middle and 1 high, where you go depends on where you live in the city)

I'm happy for her! Hope she has a long and fabulous career.

She went to Baldwin Stocker Elementary School, First Avenue Middle School and had a couple years (transfered out in sophmore year, didn't know where she went) in Arcadia High School. It's cool that it's one of our Arcadians but she went to all the same schools as me! (Arcadia has 6 elementary schools, 3 middle and 1 high, where you go depends on where you live in the city)

Hmmm, I don't find her really pretty or anything but I think she's got unique features. Looks different from the other stars - like she's got her own flavor. (like Jay!) She seems to be really confident and I like that. I bought her album yesterday, and I read her dedications. She writes most of it in English but the Chinese parts are funny. She goes, "Po, wo hai shi bu shuan mei ci da dian dong ni neng gan diao wo." HAHAHAHA. After I read that, I started liking her. I just watched her MV at the karaoke for the first time last night and went out to buy the CD cuz she could dance.

I really like the song 'I will listen to you', especially the Taiwanese part.....it's so cool and fits in with the song so beautifully! :)

And the fact that she's only 18......is......wow!! she's very talented and has her own style which distinguishes herself from other artists. I guess living in the states gives her the advantage of good English too! She's quite amazing. I like the songs I've heard so far. Thanks again for sharing. :happy:

I don't mind Renee it just her style, i know she supposed to be hip hop "n' rnb and all but that style head thing and baggy jeans is getting old. I don't even think rnd hip hop female singer wear jeans like that anymore. no offense to Renee fan. I like her music though and thats what counts more. I hope she sticks to it but I think in future she try to do rock. It seems to be the trend these days (BoA, Jay Pink ...)

I think she's very talented but just like BoA I don't think she young ans styles changes.

am i the only one who thinks renee chen sounds a bit like evonne hsu? maybe it's just in "wo deng de ren hui shi shei", which is the only song i've heard by renee. she does have a stronger voice than evonne though, and that's really amazing that she can play so many instruments. hmm, they're both dancers. both ABCs. haha, i don't know why i'm making comparisons between the two, besides their voices, but similarities seem to be there.
