hey guys, i'm currently in yr12 and i'm about to do the HSC in 17 days..yup. i probably shouldn't be here, but it's sort of a place for breaks:-) Just thought that people might want to share their experiences about the HSC if you've already done it, or are going through it. talk about anything related, like future career's, uai goals, subjects, uni's etc.
here, i'll start. I go to an all girls highschool and i hope to get into a Psychology course at Sydney Uni. I take 4U maths, 3U english, chemistry and society+culture. atm, it's quite stressful since i'm really behind in maths, and i'm also really bad at chemistry. thing is, in this last leg of the "race" we must grit our teeth and keep going at it. so good luck everyone!

i shall now make an official first complaint about the Advanced Paper one. All three sections were disastrous for me. The comprehension questions were so stupid, there were like NO literary techniques in the second text at all, and somehow they asked you to link the significance of the landscape?!
The stimulus for question 2 was SOO specific, i basically prepared two journeys that had nothing to do with that old man's dying words.. sigh, i hated the questions

ahahahha^^.... there there...
i memorised my creative writing and i didn't even use it cause it wouldn't link...
bleh.... whats speculation... ahahahhahahah...
there was this vid on youtube of someone buring the eng paper one.... dude it felt good watching that stupid paper burn.... bt.. i can;t find it nemore...
oh wells.. good luck for paper 2...

OMG, the HSC this year is totally screwed up. they made the Ext 1 maths paper SO HARD!! IT was like SOOO long, there totally wasn't enough time. It was NOTHING like what was in the past papers that i did. Question ONE stumped me, ONE!! i got stuck on EVERY SINGLE QUESTION.
Then i go and check Bored of Studies and ppl there are like "it was so easy!", "i'm hoping to get 100%". farout, i don't know if those ppl found it easy because it was to them, or that they just didn't understand the questions and hence thought they aced it. far far out, iam going to fail so hardcore.. my UAI will drop drop drop.

11-01-2006, 06:36 AM
basically its the same thing. it means that year 12's nation wide have no life and go mad, muttering formulas and quotes in their sleep and go fat from sitting on their asses the whole day.
for WA its called TEE :D lol..try saying that one fast many times >.<" lol
i will be the happiest girl ever in 2 weeks..but until then..i shall continue to be the fat slob i have become.
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! hope you get into the courses you want to!

countess, addicted2u: I think this is a bit late, but GOOD LUCK IN THE HSC!!!
I was in your shoes this time last year so I seriously know how you feel! When I was feeling overwhelmed from all the work and the stress I would also jump online to JCNet and other forums to chat and rant :D Though now when I look back at it, I'm really glad I've come so far~~ so you guys shouldn't give up!! Currently its stuvac at uni and next week I have my exams so it kinda feels like the HSC all over again but minus all the freting and worrying
countess, there always seems to be a group of peoples at bored of studies who say that a certain exam paper was easy when I felt that last years Ext.1 Maths paper was really difficult, but I guess it turned out ok after all :D Don't let those people stress you out too much!

onigiri thanks for your support and encouragement! i've still got chemistry and society+culture to go, so i guess its not too late. What are you studying at uni atm? I heard that uni is way more intense than HSC exams because if you fail, you have to repeat the exam. so i guess your in a much more intense time than i am.. except the media and hype surrounding the HSC is so exaggerated.
i heard of a few suicides already.. its so sad how the papers add to the stress of it all by printing out results. farout, i bet every single family friend and person who knows me will be looking through the sunday papers and seeing how i went. gah gah gah. i think for me, i would be happy to make it into my course, i would be completely satisfied. but because of all this external stress and pressure, its like i have to get 100UAI and set a good example for all the little kids around me. oh well, i guess every asian goes through the same things.. its only fair if i do too.
crazygiggles: i hope you excel in your TEE examinations :) when do they finish?

crazygiggles13 Melb on Cup Day is pretty quiet! LOL You're either at the races, or for those horse racing fans watching at friends place/home, or for the rest it's a public holiday to relax and/or a chance to get away ^_________^ and there's a unlucky few that have to work or have exams Haha :shifty:.

well..i have a job and i have my P plates..so..
beach it is :D..well..not til wednesday anyway. actually i wana go ice skating since its summer and its already quite warm and i havent done ice skating for...forever! lol..you guys havent had your formal yet? *yayness* lucky! i wish i could have mine all over again. that was SO much fun..i miss it i miss it i miss it.
if onli i could turn back time. then i probably would have also started studying earlier too
addicted2u: find a job that gives you really good discounts :D lol
or something you enjoy. its the summer holidays so get a summer job thats not too serious. they always need extra people during the festive season. as for getting a proper job, like one that would probably help you in your career later..you can start that once uni starts..or when you're a couple years into your course keke :D

I heard that uni is way more intense than HSC exams because if you fail, you have to repeat the exam. so i guess your in a much more intense time than i am.. except the media and hype surrounding the HSC is so exaggerated.
countess: I'm studying Info Systems at Sydney Uni. I guess you could say unis pretty intense. Cos if you fail the exam then most likely you've failed that subject cos the exams are weighted pretty high and some subjects require you atleast get 50% in all assessment to pass the subject.
If you end up failing a subject then you would most likely have to retake it (if it counts as a core subject towards the degree you're studying for that is) and that really sucks cos some subjects are only offered in semester 1 or 2 so if you wanna retake it you have to wait a whole year
But anyway I'm not trying to scare you off, uni is definitely loads of fun~
addicted2u: I remember this time last year I was going to look for a job cos I was pretty excited about having 4 whole months hahaha~ Though I actually didn't end up getting any job :D
Though after next Tuesday, my exams will be over (I noticed I finish a day earlier than countess, Darkshrimp and crazygiggles13) and this time I'm serious about looking for a job or those '06 HSC-ers might snap up my opportunities :bleh: joking~
