i desperately want to watch summer scent, but the subtitles are soft. meaning, they were ripped from the dvd, and you have to download them separately with the video.
i read all the tutorials on softsubs, but they won't show on the video when i play it.
i even downloaded a different video player, that's supposed to be "able to watch korean movies." =.=
can anyone help?

have you downloaded Vobsub?
go to this page
http://www.divx-digest.com/software/vobsub.html
scroll down and download VobSub_2.23.exe
this program will enable Windows Media Player to play the subtitles with the video
You also have to make sure that the video file must have the same name as the subtitle (srt) file and also in the same folder. then just play the video file in windows media player and it should work.

thanks! i downloaded vobsub before yesterday, but since it didn't work, i deleted it.
but i'll try again to make sure =)
if the subtitle file is a rar file, is that ok? o.O
EDIT:
i downloaded vobsub. while i was installing it, i had to ignore 3 errors.
tried to watch the video. only korean subtitles...like before. T_T

My friend had the same issue. i think i solved by this. 1. try downloading the softsub (make sure it is correct with correct fps settings and all that) or if you already have it. 2. simply drag the softsub into the video file. that worked for me (i think)

The subtitle is a rar file? Then you have to unzip it with winrar before using it. Then you'll get the proper subtitle files.

Using VLC might help
Its a VideoLan player.
So far it works for me for any movie with softsub...
It just play the movie and the softsub simultaneously.
Vobsub may also do the job, but depends on personal preferences.
Enjoy :wink2:

didn't work. i tried and unzipped it. somehow, i made the rar file into a zip file, and when i unzipped it, it just became the same thing.
i even tried out the video. no use *sigh*

jeannie: you unzipped the subs from winrar and it's still zipped? you have to choose "Extract Here"

do you have WinRar?
check this thread (http://www.jay-chou.net/forums/showthread.php?t=12269) for a tutorial. if you don't have it downloaded it, if you have it follow the steps to unzip the file. after you unzip it the subtitle file should be .srt extension.
did you downloaded VobSub properly? and what exactly were the errors you got? maybe i could upload the exe file for u to try.

it's ok retrobaby, you don't have to do that much for me, lol
i deleted the whole subtitles file and gom player and the episode itself, because someone is finally uploading summer scent on youtube.
sorry for all the trouble >.<
