Yeah there last album they've released is called 'Finalzy' I think, and it said that it's there last album because they're breaking up. And they were a pretty big group, like when they'll go up and accept awards not all of them would go up so not everyone gets equal attention.

hey, i didn't know that they're breaking up or have broken up already. i know they're a pretty big group. the only song i've heard them in was the "love is..." one with sammi cheng. that was a nice track. so, what are they gonna do now that they're split up? is anyone considering a solo career or maybe forming a smaller group? :?

Oh, I like LMF, but I'm not crazy about them. I've heard some of their songs but I don't have any of their albums. I think they're really cool though. They're different from the mainstream HK singers/groups. Too bad they're breaking up.

I like LMF too...I starting downloading their songs maybe a year ago or so? But I found their music really different too, quite hard-core rap...so different from all the other Hong Kong artists! It really appealed to me because their lyrics were so filled with really honest (?) things...
But I tried not to listen to them when my parents were around...because the lyrics had swearing in it most of the songs... But overall, I liked their songs a lot, but not as big of a fan of their music as Jay's...when I heard that they were breaking up after their last album they released (Finalazy) I felt pretty sad...I still have a lot of songs I haven't heard of theirs...but I think they're a pretty cool group too. :)

I like LMF because their songs are full of honesty too.
I think that's what makes them stand out the most.
And I found out that 'Finalazy' is just going to be their final EP until further notice while the group members work on different projects.
So there still might be a chance of them working together again.

i dont mind lmf, i only heard their very first album and the song with sammi and kelly, but i really liked them. my brother was actually the one who introduced me to them, but i havent heard anything on them for quite some time now and i thought they broke up a long time ago. perhaps their language was a little too uhh.. vulgar? they kind of remind me of WUTANG cause wutangs a pretty big rap group too right?

i like lmf
i kinda have almost all their songs
they are brilliant, to me at least
yeah they use a lot of vulgar language but all the stuffs they sing about is usually very true n about wat's happening around the world n they just wanna express how they feel, very bold i think...and their music is really really good....
their r "rumours" actually some of the songs they sing is towards their government n stuffs like that!

My friend's A BIG fan of LMF. I don' t know em' that well. I've only heard of the 'Love is...' song that had Sammi Cheng in it. They somehow remind me of Linkin Park, only they've got more um... swearing in it. LOL... i just couldn't stop laughing now coz' of what LMF stands for. ^v^ LOL. Hehehe
I just got all the songs from the Finalazy EP, and also 1127.
Can anyone tell me where to find the lyrics to these?? I don't know Cantonese and the only song I got with caption is 1127, and I really like their style.
So can anyone please tell me where to find some lyrics for LMF, thanks.
Btw, I made a thread, without knowing of this one

Anyway... any help is appreciated, thanks.

LMF have split?? no way!!! That's such a shame you kno. I was so into them a couple of years ago..they were a real breath of fresh air to the hk industry...so different from the usual sappy canto pop.
. They somehow remind me of Linkin Park
..hehe me def agree with you...i think their style is pretty similar with the whole mixture of rap/hip hop/rock...

Like most others, I was introduced to them by that duet with Sammi, and admittedly, I thought it was really amusing. This was before I had ever listened to any non-English rap and was heightened by the fact that I don't understand Cantonese. However, after the first listen, I liked that Bruce Lee song that they did, but found some of the others sort of vulgar (I think they swore in one in English and then I looked up the lyrics to some others).
More recently I saw their music video with the prostitutes and the kid in a hotel room, Para Salud I think, didn't exactly revive any sort of fondness, but they were really a breath of fresh air from all the canto pop. The Bruce Lee song has found its way back onto my playlist though

LMF is still making music right now...just not releasing any songs on CD. Davy Chan from LMF recently (a few months ago) releaseda breakbeat cd, and MC Yan is working on building up hip hop culture through pop singers (mostly Edison Chen)
best examples of LMF, i think, have got to be
-return home (fan ngok kei) :: talks about no matter what happens to HK, and how much it changes for the worse, it is still their home
-hum gah ling :: i believe this is about the media and how annoying they are w/ the rumors, interviews, stalking, etc.
-WTF :: against the communists
-fly (fei) :: learning to fly when everyone else is stuck on the ground
-debt (jai) :: about how parents should learn to appreciate their kids rather than only pushing them to study and earn money
and many more but those are usually at the top of my list

LMF was really lucky to have the talents to really pioneer HK hip hop. MC Yan is basically the representative for hk hip hop everywhere, such as korea, taiwan, mainland, etc. Davy Chan worked with Beyond before and is oen of the best producers in HK. Kit and the others are either highly respected musicians or very creative rappers. It all comes together into a perfect "first try" package. Up to this day i still can't find Chinese rap at their level, especially in lyrics. It disgusts me how people only label them the "swearing band" and fail to recognize any other part of their lyrics

LMF is good. I have two of their CD's and some random songs. According to their website, they're not really breaking up, they're just on a vacation from recording together. MC Yan has been doing well recording with Edison and Chef (YelloPeril), DJ Tommy has some pretty good songs of his own, and DBF is just...okay. I do hope that they record another album sometime soon, because they sound awesome together :)
quadshock is right, those are some of their good songs. I especially like "Hum Gah Ling" and "WTF". and "Family" by DJ Tommy.

loved their song, it's one of the best rap group in cantoanes. though, i think that they use less vulgar word in their song after they signed contract with unviersal music. also, it's very sad to know that they already broken up for a long time.

Davy Chan is producing and composing, and the winner of the World Battle of the Bands (who happened to also be from HK this year) gets to do a recording with him... so he has his work laid out.
Phat was recently featured in a Hardpack song... don't know what else he's doing.
MC Yan is as active as ever... trying to introduce hip hop to the public through Edison but at the same time keeping it real with Yellow Peril and supposedly upcoming solo works.
Kit was featured in a King Ly Chee song two years ago... don't know if he still performs with KLC when they play that song
Jimmy I think is still working with Hann, the band with Dino, Paul, and Jun.

i don't know the activities of each and every member. I did leave out DJ Tommy on accident though. He's working closely with MC Yan and the CLOT crew (the one that did Edison's last album). I believe DJ Tommy and Han Jin (both part of CLOT now) are working on the soundtrack for Moonlight in Tokyo. Not sure.
Oh and of course Sam Lee is acting.

I've heard some of their songs before... my friend lent me his LMF album many years ago. They were a BIG group of guys, I think fifteen of them or so. Some of their songs are groovy, but some are really vulgar and amgry. Don't know all the members though.. I kinda knew they group had to break sooner or later cuz such a large one normally doesn't last.

they had ten core members... the others were basically backup singers and such I believe.
Their best songs, in my opinion, were the angry ones because those usually come with the most meaning and strongest messages

Hey guys, I am a student at Stony Brook University, New York and I am currently doing some research on Cantonese Music and more specifically a band called LMF. If anybody has heard of them or their music, I would love to get some feedback on any opinions on how you feel about them, they're music, their language and styles. Thank you very much!!
If you guys don't mind answering some of these questions also, that would be great!
1. Are you a native Chinese speaker? (Cantonese/Mandarin/other)
2. Do you identify with a lot of Chinese music/Cantonese music/LMF's music?
3. Do you feel that LMF's music is comparable to any other Chinese music group or genre?
4. Do you feel that LMF's music can be compared to any Western/American music? What kind of music/artists?
5. What do you think of LMF's representation to the public? to parents/to teenagers/to young children?
6. How did you learn about LMF?
7. What do you think of the audience that listens to music like LMF?
8. What makes LMF different and unique from other Cantonese artists?

If you guys don't mind answering some of these questions also, that would be great!
1. Are you a native Chinese speaker? (Cantonese/Mandarin/other)
Yes... I speak Cantonese, English, accented Mandarin and basic French.
2. Do you identify with a lot of Chinese music/Cantonese music/LMF's music?
They were one of my major influences in high school
3. Do you feel that LMF's music is comparable to any other Chinese music group or genre?
Yes... MC Yan is viewed by some as the godfather of HK Hip Hop. So anything stemming from LMF will always be "comparable". Right now the underground hip hop scene is starting to mature and mainstream are starting to enter the radio waves. In other words, it's no longer "Just a trend" and people are learning to do it.
4. Do you feel that LMF's music can be compared to any Western/American music? What kind of music/artists?
Their discography cannot be compared to any Western band. There are songs that are heavily influenced by certain bands (i.e. one track off of their major-label debut sounds a lot like the Beastie Boys). However, since at the time they were the ONLY hip hop group nearly every track had very different influences. In the west, artists have a much smaller niche in the mainstream business and do not have a chance to experiment with...well..everything
5. What do you think of LMF's representation to the public? to parents/to teenagers/to young children?
In an industry that relies too much on looks and marketing, LMF represented an honest voice for the Hong Kong youth. They spoke on topics no other (mainstream) musicians in HK have talked about in ten years. They did what they wanted and they were different.
6. How did you learn about LMF?
There was a period when I scoffed and laughed at the idea of Chinese rap. At that time I was a rather elitest Asian American who respected Chinese culture, but looked down on what I felt was an attempt at imitating the West. I do not think so now but that is when I found out about them. Later on I got deeper into their music and listened to what they had to say. I learned that, though full of profanity, this was the most educational music in HK.
7. What do you think of the audience that listens to music like LMF?
Many of them were willing to bring intellect into music. Some just listened because swearing is funny to them. I don't count those as the "audience". The people who truly listened to LMF believed in Chinese hip hop that was not just an imitation of American hip hop. They believed in social change and recognized that we should always be striving for improvement
8. What makes LMF different and unique from other Cantonese artists?
I already answered that earlier. It's their ability to bridge the underground and mainstream as well: they are not the only hip hop around but they made a powerful presence becuase they were paving way for other independent acts to reach out to the public.
