Anti Dan Tou Thread

Okay, this is like a spin off from the Anti Jay thread. I don't think this will be extremely popular since few really have an opinion on NQMM (they having limited popularity). Here goes anyway:

I hate Dan Tou. Lack of talent aside, I hate how he is pretty much an invertebrate. (Or maybe they 2 are linked).

Since NQMM first formed, I've felt that he's the weakest link in there (right next to G-power). He can't sing for nuts. He can't rap for nuts. He looks crap... Then as days passed, I realised why he was roped in, and eventually became one of the two that survived the "revamp" of NQMM.

He's Jay's Dog, that's why.

We all do take a tease or 2 from our friends in good stride. We all do. You pull tricks on each other, use degratory words, but those occasions are few and far between, under conditions that both parties know it's a joke (Unless it's one of those "break up" moments). To top that, usually the it's an exchange of such friendly jibes. Note:it's EXCHANGE, not some one way sliming.

The relationship between Jay and Dantou is not like that. Honestly, I've never heard Jay praised Dan tou before. Each time Jay mentions Dantou, he will tease him about something. ONLY dogs will allow someone to continuously humiliate them, and still stay around. Dan Tou is Jay's dog. NQMM is almost like a treat Jay gave him in return for his undying loyalty.

Seriously, I think if Dan Tou can stand up for himself, and just tell it straight in Jay's face... "Hey dude, I am human, and those words hurt" It'd pretty much do the trick unless (a) Jay doesn't treat Dan Tou as a friend (b) Jay's EQ is impossibly low (which tho' I have serious doubts about Jay's EQ sometimes, I don't think he's the type to do that sort of thing to friends). However, if it was (b) then Dan Tou can just walk away from him, which he doesn't. He just allows Jay to abuse him. Why? Cos Jay's the one who's bringing in the cash to the company and the whole company's livelihood is dependent on 1 single man, everyone is out to keep his ego stroked so that he stays happy. And they engaged a dog for Jay, and that is Dantou.

Honestly, Dan Tou is like the least talented member of NQMM who can't even carry a tune. His looks are pretty ordinary... his hairstyle is absurd (maybe another experiment of Jay's?). I am sorry he has to earn his keep by being Jay's dog...

i noticed this too though i dont really care about NQMM anymore.

i think Jay likes to joke around with his friends (like he does with Xiao Zhu) in public, but i don't really think he treats them badly in private. i agree that Dan Tou (likes to?) acts like Jay's dog in public (ditto about the Malt Sugar Candy part... i thought it was so humiliating for them ><) but i think theyre very close in private.

Dan Tou should really stand up and speak up and not continue on with boosting Jay's (already huge) ego.

Please, we don't need another Jay. Just show us what you can offer ... which so far, I haven't seen any. To be honest ... Dan Tou sucks singing 'live'.

I just watched the recent MTV concert and realized that he and together with the rest of the NQMM members just cannot sing 'live'. I don't know why. Even during Jay's concert, they couldn't sing 'live'.

Anyway, back to Dan Tou since this thread is about him. I just hate him for being such a coward sometimes and sucking up to Jay. I just don't understand why he has to behave like Jay's king or something.

I mean, I've seen Dan Tou being interviewed when Jay is not around, and he's absolutely like any regular guy. So why be this 'dog-like' creature when Jay's around? It's so irritating.

I think that's one reason Jay picked him. To remind himself how great he is.

anyway, i'm actually one of the few people who were impressed with nqmm's first album (when g-power and gary were still prominent members). i think it had a distinct sound, an almost rock-ish edge, and clearly influenced by jay's style but NOT similar (here, my opinion differed with a lot of ppl). the first album had one song composed by jay, and the rest were written by g-power, gary, or yu hao. guess who doesn't belong in that list? yup, mr. egg-head himself. i guess the main source of my distaste for dan tou is that while being the least talented member of both generations of nqmm, he somehow became a "spokesperson figure" and somehow defines the current image of nqmm as a bunch of talentless jokes who happen to suck up (hard) to jay and make appearances in ludicrous outfits.

apparently, the reason alfamusic revamped nqmm was because the first four showed a lack of unity as a group (probably because one half of it was vastly more professional than the other). well now they got their wish. the current nqmm is unified, alrite. unified in their pure mediocrity (even yu hao, who showed a very promising musical flair in the first album and even in the second one, is dumbed down now), and dan tou is leading the pack. nqmm still comes out with some interesting pieces, but a bulk of that is provided by gary (i'd be pretty pissed off if i were him) and the two songs dan tou actually wrote himself are amateurish at best.

and yeah, it is pretty annoying that he doesn't stand up for himself when jay bullies him, but in this case i'm more annoyed at jay for being the bully. when i read about the filming of the ni lin MV where jay hit dan tou in the head with a stick (a culmination of years of abuse) and dan tou let it go with just being really angry, i was annoyed at him for being a wuss but more annoyed at jay for hitting the wuss in the head with a stick. the MV turned out really crap in the end, too, so that was also annoying. haha.

im not trying to defend dan tou in here. though dantou didnt compose any songs in first 2 albums, he wrote lyrics, and in their latest album he composed 1 song for his stepfather.

this thread reminds me of incomparable concert in taipei, when jay changed wo de di pan lyrics with something really insulting to dantou (yes, he called him dog in that song). this made NQMM's fans pretty upset to jay.

and on a TV show when jay was talking about tui hou lyrics, he actually praised dantou, but later he said dantou needs more money so jay used his lyrics in still fantasy. o.O

The thing between Jay and Dan Tou remind me the relatoingship between me and my friend. I was the one that is treated like an idiot because it was fun at first, our laughs were sincere. But my friend was getting more and more serious and obsessed that she truely thought I would be sad, feeling ignored if she had treated me worthy and she convinced others to believe the same way too. People just thought that I was weird. I standed up at last before both of us make ourselves look ugly.

I wouldn't blame either Jay or Dan Tou. But it sure looks irritating to me. And sometimes I wonder when will the time for Dan Tou to voice his thought out loud. If he won't, I can't think differently but he has his own bad intention on Jay, that he is a fake friend.

Another story, but somehow, I feel that Yu Hao is worse than Dan Tou. Dogs follow his boss is a natural thing. But a human being pretending to be a dutiful dog is purely disgusting. Dan Tou is not really smart in sommeway, but Yu Hao is, so why following Jay all around?

Hmmm... Not really Anti-Dan tou and I am not defending him either... Just want to voice out some views...

I don't think Dan Tou is ever the one I like most in NQMM. I would give him credits for his lyrics though their live singings are... always unstable.

One thing that I don't like about him is how he really become the 'oppressed' one in front of Jay. Even if you are good pals, there is no need for you to .. just give in to every whines of Jay the Superstar.

At times, I really want to shake him up and tell him that "you are a human! not a dog of Jay!"...

I watched some Azio clips of NQMM hosting entertainment news. Dan Tou is still himself. Getting pushed around by everyone. Yu Hao, Lara, Zhang Jie...

He's like an invertebrate. He's always fooling around, and he doesn't quit. No one takes him seriously it seems.

never really liked him apposed to the other members. but he is my second least favourite of the pack (lara being the first but I'll get into that another time) Dan tou does actually seem like jays dog like when in twilights chapter seven, jay told him to fall down on a lot of parts. and never really liked his hair lol

One thing that really annoyed me in the article is how Dan Tou kept on mentioning Jay. I mean, it is THEIR concert, not Jay's...so why on earth is he always mentioning Jay's name??

Hey, same here! I actually quite liked the first album of NQMM's. The one with the slightly rock edge to it. After Gary and Gu Pao left, it's like another manufactured bubble-gum pop group, adding to the 98,678 that are already on the Taiwanese market :rolleyes: I tried listening to their new albums but I have to hit the "stop" button because it's just so not my cup of tea.

To me, it's not even Dan Tou' looks or anything - that has nothing to do with anything (well, not to me anyway). I just have an issue with how he hangs onto everything Jay does. I wonder if he trails after Jay to like, clean his butt or something after he goes to the toilet :whistle:

Hmm i was just wondering if jay might have been a lil mean to dan tou, which results in our dislike for him behaving like a follower of jay. I don't know, is this considered being non anti-dan tou? because i was just thinking of a possible rationale for his behaviour, not that i'm for him, but i like nan quan's music in general.

That video is about Yu Hao, and not Dan Tou. I don't think Dan Tou could generate that much publicity, haha.

I NEVER paid attention to the 2nd generation NQMM (because I really really don't like their songs) but I was watching the recent episodes of Yu Le Bai Fen Bai and Kang Xi Lai Le that they were on, and I was immediately annoyed by Dan Tou. He's always trying to capture all the attention and tries too hard to be the funny guy. In addition, when Xiao S and Kang Yong asked him about Jay's relationships with Jolin and with Patty, he just kept responding accordingly. If Jay doesn't openly disclose his private life with the media, what gives Dan Tou the right to? It just seems disrespectful to me.

I just saw a clip of NQMM singing live on YouTube. Dan Tou totally killed their performance. Before the song (Not Far From Home) began, he asked them to sing along. Then at the beginning, his voice cracked a bit while singing (okay, it could happen to anyone). Throughout the song, he continued to ask the fans to sing along. I think they know the procedure, seeing as how he tells them to do it in about every live. And then, the 'woaaaahhhhs' came, which I thought was unnecessary. Cause yes, I want to hear Lara's rap, and not his strained vocals accompanying her.

The second song (Quietly Tell Her) came next. To no surprise, he told the fans to sing along (directed to the back). Maybe he really was hot or just wanted reaction from the fans like Jay got, because he took off his zippered sweater to some reaction.

I'm sorry to say he's my least favorite person in NQMM. It seems to me that he tries too hard to be funny.
