CW's channel confusion (the new channel combined of UPN and WB)

okay, i just came back from china just a month ago, so when i turned on my tv and saw UPN channel changed to CW, i was like " what the heck is :? CW?"

finally i read an article about the two channels, WB and UPN combining their shows.
"...predicting that the CW would ultimately draw higher ratings than either of the two individual networks it is replacing by following the same strategy of targeting younger viewers than the four major networks--ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox.

Specifically, the CW is going after viewers aged 18 to 34--as opposed to the 18-to-49 demographic considered the advertising sweet spot for the Big Four broadcasters. The hope is that a single network can be more successful than two in building that younger audience."

:glug: so what do you guys think about this new channel, is it better or worse?

in my opinion im actually okay with it because there are times i watch to watch two shows at the same time that are both on UPN and WB. however the only worse part is there are less shows such as shows like WB's Reba and UPN's Love Inc etc is gone ( i think).

The new CW channel seems alright. I also watch shows from both channels, so it's easier now. I guess both of the channels weren't doing that well in the ratings, so combining them might have better ratings?

But apparently, UPN might turn into another channel in some places, called My Network TV. The channel with have soap opera-ish shows like Desire and Fashion House.

oh yeah! me too! nobody expalined what CW meant on the channel, i was all confused. ~_~ and it's all..green now. i liked it much better when it was just upn. =/

I liked the WB and UPN being on seperate channels. Since they were seperate, show timings were better. Now I'm lost in the schedules of CW, and all my13 shows is those crappy shows Desire and Fashion House, every night.

Hope no major channels like CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox, etc. merge. I doubt it, but there's a possiblity in the future.

i still don't understand what CW stands for. with UPN and WB, they should have done something like...UNB or something XD

I think the CW is all right but not the greatest. They still have Supernatural and Smallville (my favorite show on the CW) but I don't like their time schedule. Back when there was two channels, I remembered all the time schedule and ever since it became one channel, I am completely lost. Guess I just have to deal with it and re-learn the time schedule for Smallville.:cry:

i only like wb for smallville. right now im hooked on shows like heroes. i luv the superpowered ppl!

xanimeotakux: I think CW (and this is only my own theory ^^) stands for "See W" it makes very little sense, but at least it makes a little sense?

I'm watching "one tree hill" right now xD it's so depressing, but then, I like depressing stuff, it makes me happier.

I'm okay with CW, but now that Top Model isn't showing on wednesdays anymore (the season is over), I don't watch it as often.

yeah, i only watch CW for america's next top model. i'm not really interested in any of the other shows. i would watch one tree hill, but jeez, i'm not one bit caught up on the plot. ~_~

one tree hill is okay, it's better than some.
Who did you like for top model last season? I actually liked Melrose more since she was more determined and mature than Caridee ...

i didn't like the last season very much, it just didn't attract me in as much as the other seasons. or maybe because i wasn't able to watch all the episodes..

i'm kind of glad caridee won. melrose was just.."ugh" to me.

ahaha ... really? I know she wasn't the friendliest, but she struck me as rather mature and determined. I dunno, maybe it's because I'm immature and wishywashy that I admire her so much. She was also really the strongest contestant. She may not have had the most talent, but she certainly had the most consistency (4.0 GPA lolz)

I did like Caridee though, she was funny - that dizzy thing was classic, but she wasn't as naturally pretty as Melrose, her mouth looked bull dog-ish when she frowned.
