JCNetizen - General Info (February 2008 results is out!)

Requirements to become a JCNetizen in the following order:
1). You must at least be a Registered Users+
2). You must have at least 100 posts *
3). You must have been registered at least 2 months *
4). You must goto UserCP > Group Memberships, and request to join JCNetizens.
and finally:
5). You must take the JCNetizen Test and pass 100% (with curve)

While the test is probably the hardest part, 50% of becoming a JCNetizen is the ability to follow directions, so please follow the above steps accordingly.

What is a JCNetizen?
You might have noticed alot of people belong to a group called JCNetizens, in the past this group was called JCNet Regulars, and admission was done by me once a month after a person requested to join the group. After which I would review their contributions and posts. While this took such a long time, many people would apply 4-5 months consecutively before getting accepted.

This has been changed in 2 ways:
1). The group name changed from JCNET Regulars to JCNetizens
2). I will no longer review each applicant manually, an online quiz will be administered in it's place

What do you get by being a JCNetizen?
In the past, being a JCNET Regular allowed access to exclusive downloads. But now JCNet is tired of putting downloads on such a high pedestal.

Being a JCNetizen goes beyond downloads, it is a sign of your commitment and a "thank you" to JCNet and it's members. There are many ways to "donate" to JCNet besides through PayPal or shopping at YesAsia, and that is by showing effort in fostering this community. And you show that by becoming a JCNetizen.

It proves that you put effort into getting to know us beyond the lyrics, news, photos, and other goods we provide. And if you've been here long enough, you'll realize that we're so much more than just Jay.


In the past, becoming a JCNetizen was your first step into joining one of our social groups (http://jay-chou.net/forums/faq.php?faq=jcnet_faq_item#faq_new_faq_item_19), however this is no longer a requirement. JCNetizens and social groups are no longer connected in any way. You can be in one without being in the other. Becoming a JCNetizen is solely dependent on your abilities to follow directions and basic knowledge on Jay and JCNet. It puts you slightly above the Registered Users+ group.


OK I'm bought! How do I become a JCNetizen?

*You can still technically take the test, but I will not promote you to JCNetizen if you don't meet these 2 requirements.


How do I take the Test?
A short test is given 2-3 days out of every month. Because it is dependent on when I have free time, it can either be the first half or last half of the month.
But I will make a big announcement, it will be on the calendar, you really can't miss it.

The test will be 15-20 short multiple choice questions. No time limit, so you can browse the site or lookup answers. The questions are not rocket science though. It is comprised of simple questions about Jay Chou and JCNet.


What happens after the test?
You will get an automatic PM telling you how you did, if you got 100% and completed all the other requirements, congratulations you are ONE step away from becoming a JCNetizen! If you get less than 100%, don't worry, you may still have a chance...keeping reading.

After this I will ask you to make a personal "plaque" that will hang in our JCNetizen Inductee Hall (http://jay-chou.net/forums/showthread.php?t=21423) (more info after you take and ace the test).


Is there a curve on the test? :D
I might consider if everyone seems to miss the same question(s).
And yes the test questions change every month.

What if I'm already a JCNetizen or above, can I take the test?
Yes, but you won't get anything other than your own self amusement.

Same rules apply. You can take it for fun, those of you taking to become a JCNetizen make sure you go to UserCP > Group Membership and REQUEST to join JCNetizen. Otherwise I'll just think you took it for fun.

If you make 100% go ahead and make banner 360x160 (examples (http://www.jay-chou.net/forums/showthread.php?t=21423)) and PM to me (granted you fulfill all the other requirements listed in the first post). If you make less than 100% wait till the quiz closes and see what the curve is, you may still be accepted.

this test was a lot easier, but I made a couple stoopid mistakes since I rushed a little *mental note to self - check your tests over!*

^ You can't, cos you already know which questions you got wrong & ther're some questions which only have two choices, meaning that the answer's very obvious then.

Aiyo...I got 1 1/2 questions wrong,however,I still managed to score a 88%.Which is worse than my last month's test score that I took for fun.

The average for this test was 85%, so it was a fairly easy one. If you made higher than the average and completed all the other requirements, then you passed!

Note that from this point on, getting into a social group does not require you to be a JCNetizen. Being a JCNetizen has nothing to do with the 5 social groups, it is novelty group separating you from regular registered users/ru+. Once you get in you can't be kicked out unlike the social group. It is a higher position than RU/RU+ so it's possible you get first dibs on events and other stuff.

I can understand the confusion as it's not clearly stated in my first post. And the steps do indicate that you take the test first then request to join. So I'll edit the first post to make it clear for future test takers.
