Best greetings to the Jay fans arround the world. :wave: I'm very glad i found this web to meet yall for sharing some of the ideas about Jay.
Since ppl keep mentioning this forum is lack of new topics here i brought this up(I'm not sure if anyone have discussed this before tho): Which song of Jay's made you feel like it did really hit the spot for the very first time? Mine would be "Xing Qing" (3rd song of his 1st vol). After the first time i listen to it i just couldnt stop repeating it during the whole night. (lol)
So which would be yours? Any opinions/replies are welcome.

For me, I just started listening to Jay 3 days back. I found his music very different to what I listen normally (Damien Rice, The knife, Jose Gonzalez etc..).

I would have to say I was really captivated by his video of "Fa Ru Xue" and the song is excellent. The video has a nice oriental touch + the song is an excellent work.

The song also relates to my life in some way (you have guessed it by now). :shy:

tornado hands down. I was listening to it a few years back (even then, it was considered a relatively old jay song) and I was hooked. I watched the mv while I tried to learn the lyrics and finally got it!

hmm... i dont know the difference too but i think cpop stands for all chinese songs from china, taiwan, etc and it includes songs in fookien (hokkien) while mandopop is only for taiwan or for mandarin songs? haha i really dont know :oops:

hmm.. i only started listening to jay late 2003... i think dong feng po was the very first song i heard... then xing qing, ni ting de dao, an jing and long juan feng (not really in that order)... dong feng po was the first one that i think attracted me but these 5 got me hooked! and an jing has been my favorite ever since :D

It was Long Quan that got my attention, I loved the western beat it had. But I would say that it was Qing Tian that I fell in love with and Qing tian was the song that inspired me to sing some of Jay's songs

I think it's "Ba Wo Hui Lai Le" The 1st time I listened to this song is when I went to visit my auntie at Malaysia, she turned on her radio, told me that she likes this song and promoted to me. When I was listening for the 1st time, my reaction was: What a cool song! I like it. And that is the 1st time I listened to RAP song. I never listen to this song in Indonesia. The first Jay Chou song that caught my ear was off a Jay Chou music/karaoke/video DVD that I bought while out marketing one day. Being a name I'd heard often, I bought the DVD to check him out. The song that struck me most was Kei Ai Nu Ren (Cute/Lovely/Adorable Girl), followed by Shan Hu Hai (The Coral Reef), Ai Qing Xuan Ya (Love's Cliff) and Xing Qing (Starry Mood). I started to watch and listen and pay more attention to his music and I've decided that Jay is one of the most talented Singer/Songwriter/Instrumentalists that I can think of! His Chinese influence blended with western pop/hip hop and R&B melodies really gets me going. I'm Canadian from Toronto, but live in Central China, and people either love him or hate him here. I really wish he would get more credit, especially from the older generations who are all about maintaining tradition and culture. Jay is doing just that by melting culture and tradition together with the life of our modern day!

I think it was An Hao (secret signal). I was kind of annoyed with his style when I first listened to it when I was 13 or so. But as you listen to more Jay Chou songs, it grows on you and then you get really addicted. But my love for Jay Chou recently started up again this summer. Now I can't stop listening to ALL of his songs. I especially like All the way North. His new song Retreat and Heart's Rain are good ballads. I think his new album doesn't have any dramatically great song, but it's still very easy to the ears and worth listening to!

Hrmm, I actualy didn't like Jay initially, so many people liked him.. so i was like, CHEH.. what's so good about him! But then one day I was listening to friends MP3 Player while studying for VCE (Year 12) exams, and I was like "Wow this song is so nice! Who is it by" to my friend and she told me it was Jay Chou! I was like shocked, I was thinking, I should be hating this guy >.<.. But yeah since then, really really liked him!

One of the first moments of having anything to do with this singer named "Jay Chou" was back at approximately one year ago when I went back to China for a holiday. He was all over China - on the posters of walls, advertisements on televisions, CDs in supermarkets... And I thought "wow, he's really famous and good-looking". So I decided to buy one of his latest albums: November's Chopin. I heard, once on the taxi, a song that had a really beautiful tune. I desperately wanted to know what it was called... if only I knew Chinese better then I would've... U_U" When I got back to Australia, I immediately played this strange new man's album and as I was listening, I suddenly realized that it contained the song that I heard on the taxi. The song was really nice and I still love it. It's called Shan Hu Hai or Coral Sea. I just love duets and I especially love the tune. ^^
