Thoughts? Opinions? Let's discuss the latest from Aussie Idol! We didn't have a thread for it last year, because seriously, that season really sucked. KATE DEARAUGO???

OK, the 1st semi-final was tonight, and I think I have a crush on Dean Geyer. Haha he's got it all! He's got this fresh, naturally handsome look, plays the guitar, auditioned with a self-penned song, is from South Africa, has a black belt in karate, is smart (I assume so, he went to the top boys' school in Melbourne) and did I mention hot? We could do with a young Aussie rockstar to follow in Silverchair's steps! (Jet isn't the same)

Besides him, I loved Damien's performance, he has a beautiful voice!

i havent been watching lately, but i've started watching now - i usually just watch to laugh at the contestants that enter at the beginning! some of those dudes really give adelaide a bad name man!

but seriously, after winning AI, where do they go? look at where guy sebastian and kate donovan and that other chick. where are they?! hope this seaons is better!

Dean Geyer is the man.
I loved how he worked the cameras last night...especially that 'look' right at the end. must've had young girls fainting all across the country. :rolleyes:

on to tonight's show. what was with that girl's frock??? :glug:
argh, can't remember her name but she sang last.
apparently she was going for the hippie look, but I seriously thought she was wearing the national costume of Holland or something. :oops:

i would just like to say here that when i first saw damien i was like "ew.. not that good looking.. and didn't expect anything at all" but when he started singing

^ Yeah, for slow songs like that you really need to control your voice and convey the emotion needed to make an impact. He sang so well! <3 He's not that ugly. :glug:

Teresa: That was Reigan Derry! I love her full name.. it's so cute haha. I don't think her outfit was that bad! I liked her boots. I reckon she picked a really bad song.. it was kinda shaky when she was singing in the lower register.. but she sounded great otherwise, like at the beginning.

I liked Jessica too, even though I'm not fond of that Whitney song.They played a snippet of her solo perf in Sydney (I think she was singing Christina?) and that sounded pretty cool. I love the way Christina sings with spunk.

I have always thought that if I knew how to sing, and I was on Idol, I'd sing Christina Aguilera - Walk Away. :laughing:

I have a feeling Jessica and Reigan will get through. They were pimped during the audition shows.

Oh, yes, I was one of those girls swooning over Dean. He didn't just give the 'LOOK' at the end!

Dean graduated in '04, year below me. haha I heard Dean was like a pro athlete in school. Multi-talented AND spunky!! *weak at knees*

anywhoz, watching Ricky do that Usher song last night was soooo stressful for me. he was SO tense! :laughing:

ahh xioali i have that year book at home too hahaha, my brother goes to that school, but i never knew he went to MHS.

out of all the eps ive seen which isnt a lot i only seem to like jssica who sang the whitney song, i thought it was quite good, but the judges thought otherwise.

oo when ricky sang, i just thought his voice was a little soft...or maybe that was the mic. but he was good at the beginning he literally sounded like usher.

I can't believe Reigan got booted! She was my favourite girl! I liked how she was brave and sang obscure songs. She's got such a pretty voice, if you heard her audition.

Lisa is awful. Her voice is sooooo flat and she has noooo range.. she sounds the same every week! BUUTT she is singing A Thousand Miles by Vanessa Carlton this week and she might actually do well :O

Dean hasn't been very impressive in the finals, but he's doing Iris by the Goo Goo Dollls this week.. Love that song and hope he does it well! Another song I'd like to see him sing is I Don't Want To Miss a Thing by Aerosmith -- IF he goes hard! But oh I just love to look at him so keep in him boys & girls!

okay. JESSICA is by far the best person on that show

you have to admit.. EVERY SINGLE TIME she sings . it gives ppl shivers

lol i guess you guys still like idol, to me its like Big Brother and Survivor. It's a phenomenom dying out, at first it was great! but now its a bit boring, but hey i aint hating. i still catch some minutes on it just to be hip, so i can talk to my mates at school. Dean is alright, so is Jessica.

Yea it's a shame Chris's gone, i actually quite liked his "rusty" voice, it's pretty unique :d well, i guess the next person i will support now would be Jess, only 16 and already in top 3, that'sheaps good :D

I like Dean and Damien. They are good. Jess has a really good voice too and she is sooooo youngg =))))
I think this year's Idol produced the best singers and most can play the guitar.
Both bobby and Lisa's voices were unique and in a totally different league from everyone else. =)

Yea don't think Jess would win Aussie idol, shes way too young...Still got a long way of expeirence that needed to be earned, but it will b a good thing if she does win tho, shows that we aussie can provide such awesome talent at such young age.

Anyway, I'm glad Damien won! Wouldn't have minded either way but he did a better version of the winning song.. it sounded less cheesy, less typical and more artistic.

Dean should become a model and come out with a calendar.. he's SO HOT.

in the earlier stages i was rooting for jess
but in the last few eps.. damien was REALLY GOOD
im REALLY happy for him!
and his personality is so cute and like cheerful.. like makes people around him happy.
his son's really lucky to have such a gd dad.

No, actually, he didn't. An article came out the next day stating that Mark had gotten carried away in the moment, and that he'd been on Nova admitting he hadn't spoken to any record execs and that Dean had not yet received any offers.

That's just plain cruel.

Did anyone catch Damien's performance on Sunrise channel 7 last Friday? He did an acoustic of the idol song. It was beautiful!
