Starring Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock, this movie really proves the chemistry between these two on-screen partners.

The story is about 2 people living 2 years apart and the only connection between them is the mailbox situated at the Lake House. Their way of communication was through letters and short notes placed inside the "time machine". This slowly evolved into a daily habit of checking mail and anticipating each other's reply. And before they realise, they have fallen in love with each other, even though they are separated by time. The story unfolds and ends on a happy note.

For those who haven't catched "Il Mare" (starring Jeon Ji Hyeon), I strongly suggest you go watch it. After watching the Hollywood adaptation of it, I would say that it follows the actual storyline of the original film. However, the director has injected some form of humour in it as well to make this one stand out from its predecessor. Watch out for Paul McCartney's "This Never Happened Before". A wonderful song that seems so fitting for this movie.

All in all, a great film for all couples out there to enjoy. And for those who are single, go catch this film to get in the mood of falling in love =]

i actually liked the english version. i have never watched 'il mare,' before, so i can't compare. =/ the movie was sad enough to make me cry. XD the end was a bit confusing, so it needed a bit explaining. o.o the acting was great. i thought the two lead actresses had great chemistry! ^_^ i didn't really listen to the music, so i can't say. the plot was different. it related science fiction in it, which was very interesting.

I looked forward to this movie the moment i found out about it! Simply, simply because it's another love story between sandra bullock and keanu! GO SPEED! they really should get married.
I saw Il mare years ago and my memory of it wasn't particularly vivid- though i did remember that the ending was quite sad. It was a subtle, bittersweet and aethetically beautiful korean film. Like many of its genre it liked to start off positively then end with a tragic twist.
When I found out about this i tried to supress my expectations for it so incase it turned out like every other Hollywood adaptation i wouldn't be too disappointed. The reason being I really wanted to like this movie; I really wanted it to be one of those movies i'll end up watching over and over again. Disappointed I was, in a few aspects, but generally it was very satisfying. Firstly, they did not establish the link between the two main characters as well as the korean version did, and it seemed as if the film just expected the audience to accept the fact that the characters can randomly exchange letters- as well as this, they didn't take enough effort to brew the growing chemistry and affection they had for each other, so by the end, the love and death (literally) scenario may seem a little too exaggerated. Keanu's a little chubbier than usual, I still love him, and Sandra Bullock is just so beautiful. As well as the fact that I have that hair at the moment heheh. It was a very two-man show, and the side characters didn't have enough room to grow; for example, Keanu's character's father could have had a more indepth role to play. Perhaps it was because they wanted to focus on their story.
i LOVE LOVE LOVE the band keane. When i saw the trailer for this movie and it was Somewhere Only We Know I squealed and jumped and annoyed everyone around me because of my excitement. The lyrics:
I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete
Oh simple thing where have you gone
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin
I came across a fallen tree
I felt the branches of it looking at me
Is this the place we used to love?
Is this the place that I've been dreaming of?
Oh simple thing where have you gone
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin
And if you have a minute why don't we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go
Somewhere only we know?
Oh simple thing where have you gone
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin
So if you have a minute why don't we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go
So why don't we go
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go
Somewhere only we know?
is the most relevant song i have ever come across in any movie. More of a reason why I wanted to watch it. Which is why I was quite disappointed when they ended up not using the song within the movie. Although Paul McCartney's 'Never Happened before' was quite a good song choice for their balcony scene. Those two have so much chemistry between them it's effortless; which is why it's such a shame that the storyline in this movie doesn't let them have many scenes together. The movie just expects the audience to throw away all logical, realistic assumptions and go with the this honestly ridiculous plot, which is honestly fine by me, because I love it anyway! I cannot wait for the DVD release. Simply so I can watch it again and again on my mellow sad days to make me feel better.

i loved it! and its even better that keanu is 40+ but still so drop dead gorgeous. some people might have felt the plot was kinda bulls**t, but i thought the idea of a 2 dimensional time space was pretty cool, albeit being a hollywood adaptation. i mean as long as you do it well and better, hell why not. anybody watched frequency before? the idea is kinda similar, being apart in time, but able to communicate with each other. oh, and i loved the dog jack in this show!

i have seen the korean version, but i think the this version was better. i don't know maybe because i'm used to how the american's make movies. in the korean version it felt really long while watching it, but in Lake House i LOVED the pace of the movie:-) .
Keanu and Sandra Bullock played their parts very well. I haven't seen Keanu play this romance kind of guy since Sweet November and so i was quite shock that he made me feel how sad he was...since his recent movies have been action (Matrix). this wasn't one of Sandra's best performance compared to her pasts, but it was still good.
i think people might not like it because of the whole time thing since it's not a common plot in u.s, but in korean movies it's kind of expected or ppl r used to these kind of stuff..also they might have gotten really comfused like my 2 cousins who didn't watch the korean version and were totally lost in the movie.
i can't rate the music cuz i don't remember.

I've watched both version, the korean and this.well both have their own style,as in this version they change something..as for Sandra occupation and the thing she left in the station and i guess the part where she met Alex before the letter thingy..hmm i dont think the Korean version said about that. What makes me watch this, well first of all i like the IL Mare,so its make me wanna watch this too, second, the main actor is super duper gorgeous, well this make me a must to watch.
Then the ending, the part where Sandra say "If you love me,please don't look for me,wait for me.."Omg this make me   "She is good and the chemistry between her and Keanu is great..
It is worth a watch and try not to compare it with the original version.

I kinda attracted to the storyline when I read the previews from Golden Screen Cinema site. It has been quite a while ago when both of them collaborated. So I guess this must be an interesting one. Although I have not seen the original story as mentioned, I personally think that this movie is good. I was really satisfied with this movie even though it wasn't something big or adventurous. I just love the chemistry between them.:-)

I didn't enjoy this movie, and I thought it was a waste of money for me to watch it. I watched it with a group of friends, and we all thought it was so boring. I was so close to going out the theatre, but it was really dark, so I was sleeping instead.
The Koreans all think the Korean version was way better, maybe they are biased, but I can believe them, because Lake House, in my opinion, is so bad.
The plot is weird- just two years different? If it was, say 20 years difference it would be more intersting, but just two years difference.. I think the plot isn't that catching.

Well i can't say that i hate this movie but it didn't really leave a distinct memory either. I think Keanu reeves and Sandra Bullock make a great couple though. Too bad she's married haha.
I was attracted to the storyline but up till now, i still can't figure out how they manage to meet each other.

inlovewith.

watched it cuz I'm a 'shipper for Sandra and Keanu.

when i first saw the promotional poster for Lake House, I thought t'was gonna be a ghost-human-love story. The poster had depressing colors and 2 faces that looked depressed and just a total depressing outlook. so yeaa i was pretty surprised when i found out that it's nothing to do with ghosts but time difference. and i got more interested.

Even though some parts were predictable and really confusing, it's a pretty good light hearted romantic movie. and the soundtrack was great! and the Lake House, the house, has to be the most beautiful house i've ever seen. I wanna live in the house! and i still dun get how the whole story actually worked. nevertheless, it's a good movie.
