I'm not sure whether the planning team has a designated thread where general members can post suggestions and such. But I have a small suggestion concerning the newbie forum. You know how some sites have shoutboxes, where people post short messages and whatnot, I was thinking of turning the newbie forum into a general shoutbox forum. The newbies will continue to post in there as they are doing, but we can also allow general members to post "shouts" ...dedications, birthday wishes, general PDAs for other members, in other words - various msgs they just want the entire forums to hear...etc...

what do u guys think?
(ps - I don't want to add an actual shoutbox to the site)

oh you mean starting a new thread where they can post their 'shouts?'

hmm.... won't it be confusing? and it could be potential spam palace.

but then again.. shoutboxes are never well-organised.

So you have some suggestions on how we can run this place better?
Do you have an activity you wish to see?

Speak up, be heard!

Is there any logic in creating a subforum in the Art Studio for Photoshop tutorials only? I'm unsure whether there is enough demand for it though. Either that, or we'll go back to making a thread with alternate posts containing different tutorials.

^ I like that idea since I think most of the members need help in Photoshop including me. But I'm afraid people will just copy and paste tutorials from other websites.

^ It would me and Mingboon taking advice from the Photoshop FAQ that is already up in the Art Studio, as to what tutorials people asked for before... and us making screencaps on our photoshop. Everything will be original to mine and Mingboon's mode of action, be relaxed.

I think it would be fine for now to just create stickies for tutorials in that forum. I orginally wanted to make a subforum, but didn't think there would be that many tutorials for now.

just on the Art Studio, maybe it'll be good to make separate threads for suggestions on where to get brush and font downloads, since people always ask for them, and keep a list of the suggestions in the first post of the threads. and perhaps also add a brief tute on how to install the fonts and brushes.

Suggestions taken, wait to see the changes made, and if there's any other suggestions you have, just hollah.

Hmm... I would prefer to keep newbie forum for the newbs (to avoid confusion), but I do like this shout-box idea. What if we tidy up the announcements forum and stickey the most important thread. The rest can be shout-outs threads that are cleared weekly like we do in the newbie forum?

Another idea I've been pondering, is the reviews subforum just for reviews? or can you have general discussion in there regarding a movie/book/album? Because I wonder if there is a double-up between "reviews" vs. "general entertainment" ... same movie/book/album discussed in diff threads, in diff subforums.

What do you think?

The announcements forum I believe should strictly stick to site announcements. I dunno, it's always been a SMod or above only who can create topics in there. Sort of JCNet priveleged/holy grounds :-)

I think it's fine the way it is, in the reviews forum, people know exactly that they will be getting a decent top notch review. As oppose to the ent forum where it's basically stats reports most of the time. They can discuss the review or the item being reviewed in the reviews forum. We can just leave it for now and see how it goes

Okey, sounds good to me.

So what do we do about the shout-box idea? A sub-forum under socialising? Or if you prefer, we can trail it in the newbie forum?

hmm...a subforum under socializing??? The thing is, I want to localize the hysteria all in one place. That's why the newbies forum seemed like a good place to me. I really don't want another forum where people can free-range and we have to clean up after them. I guess the shoutbox idea really isn't worth it.

BTW I've added a module to the portal page on the right called "Features" to spotlight the topics that are impt each month, and a way to attract passerbys to JCNET and to show we're not all about Jay. If anyone has a topic that they feel should be "featured" let me know.

I'll have to work on making it stand out more.
