Jay's Raps or Ballads?

Jay has two very distinct and amazing styles. His fast paced raps and his slow, sad ballads. Which of the two do you like better? :D

As much as I like Jay's pretty ballads I find a lot of them to be too depressing, I like more uptempo songs, they don't always have to be his hard, fast raps, they can be his slower raps too, or his characteristic rap/singing, so yes, I picked his raps.

Yeah, I love his raps too, but the whole reason i got hooked on jay was cuz of his ballads. They're nice to listen to when you're depressed or when you can't go to sleep. They're like my lullaby...

i love listening to his slow heart-breaking ballads.. you can feel his heartbreak thru the beautiful heart wrenching lyrics and thru the slow haunting musical arrangements of his ballads... i would have to say my all time favorite ballad is silence (an jing).. sigh

But I think I prefer his raps. They're really2 cool and I love seeing Jay raps. I dont usually like raps sang by Chinese singers but with Jay, its different :)

I chose his raps. His ballads to me are not as touching as Lee Hom's. I must say that it is Jay's style but he is just not the best balland singers around, in my opinion. However, his rap is really different and really 'Jay-ish'. That style sets it apart from other people and hence my love for him..

I chose ballads.. His raps are too mumblee for me to understand, and the most important thing that I looks out for is the lyrics, then the melody.. His ballads are nice coz the lyris are so romantic.. It sound as if he talking to me.. Singing me to sleep.. lolz..

this is difficult to choose but in the end i did.. i chose ballads.. but i didnt know it was choosing Jay's rap or ballad.. haha.. if i know.. i wouldnt chose any.. cause both are very good to me...


His rap is amazing.. better than any chinese singers that i heard off and was told.. his ballad.. are just.. heart melting... oh god.. take shi jie mo ri for an example!!.. i can die listening to that song!!..

This is hard... Hahaha >_< It's hurting my head, but I chose ballads. I love the lyrics that he has. It's heartbreaking, yes, but I love that kind of stuff :wink2: I absolutely loooovee the lyrics. His raps are good too, it's just that sometimes I can't understand them, but I like the music that he's rapping too and the lyrics once you know what he's saying. It was a hard decision, but it's ballads for me :]

wow this is a very hard choice for me as i have favourites both ballads and raps!

in the end i chose ballads as the lyrics are very soothing and jay's voice comes out more in them. i have time to enjoy them more than the raps.

i do agree with petricia though that leehom's ballads are that bit more touching

Definitely the ballads where he can show off his nice singing talent. But rapping is when he gets kind of mumble.

I would prefer his ballads, i love his rapping and all, but what truly connects to me is the ballads that jay has on his albums

In my personal point of view, i think Rap is more preferable.... He can do amazing rap with faster then whoever are... Jay Diao~!!!

ballads for sure like an jing or dong feng po tho his raps are pretty tight as well

Ballads because his fast rap songs don't pinch me at the heart the way his sad, slow ballads do.
And its his mellow songs that got me hooked into his music though I first got acquainted
with him through Yi Fu Zhi Ming, which I think is a perfect mixture
of clean cut rap and the ballad-ish momentum prevalent in his slow tempo songs.

i liek his ballads better ./ the tunes are really nice and smooth and they are really all pretty romantic
but yeah i'm kinda a more ballad type of person

i absolutely loveeee his ballads - that's the reason why i fell in love with him through his song an jing :) his raps are alright, but sometimes i think they sound a bit out of place, C-rap just doesnt cut it for me.

as for the ballads- i love jay's old ballads...like kai pu liao ko, an jing....and as for the raps- the only rap song that i can trully relate is fearless!!

I like his ballads... so I voted ballads... but I also like his more upbeat and fun songs... like Simple Love, Clear Day, Long Quan... and Huo Yuan Jia... all awesome awesome songs!! Hard to pick, but I went with ballads.

but i like his rap songs too!

I like Jay's rap songs but as a whole, I like Jay's ballads better. My favorite song of Jay's is Qing Tian thus, a ballad. They just have this emotional feel to it. I just love the meaning and the soul-fullness of Jay's ballads.

ive noticed that all chinese singers who rap arent that good, other than leehom, who is influenced by american culture.
jay has his own unique way of rapping and i love artists who are different than others.

his raps have catchy tune and the lyrics are surely meaningful.
but his ballads have meaningful lyrics too and can really touch people's hearts.Especially when he is singing in high pitch.

so i prefer his ballads
